"I'll patch you right on up."

Scrappers are support-oriented engineers with access to gyros and a plethora of other cleansing abilities. You can aid multiple allies in large-scale battles with massive area-of-effect skills, healing and providing superspeed and other necessary boons. They are also adept at crowd control.

Scrapper is an elite specialization for the engineer unlocked with the Heart of Thorns expansion. The resourceful scrappers are expert tinkerers, and their best invention yet is their Function Gyro. This tiny hovering drone performs menial tasks for the busy scrappers, who use it for reviving allies and finishing downed foes.

Scrappers also employ gyros to create well skills that support nearby allies and damage enemies. They can wield hammers, bashing both their enemies and scrap for the next invention. Scrappers focus on damage dealing and control with a bruiser playstyle, and can opt to provide important boons to their allies.

Lore[edit]

With Mordremoth’s awakening, engineers that discover the wreckage of the Pact fleet can choose to learn the ways of the resourceful scrappers. These masters of improvisation gain access to the mighty hammer while crafting utilitarian gyros to accomplish all manner of arduous tasks. A pinnacle of their craft is the function gyro, capable of restoring health to waning allies and dealing the coup de grâce to lingering foes. They bring a bruising style of lockdown and negation melee to the engineer.

— Scrapper release notes

Scrappers are resourceful engineers using advanced technology, scrapped from the wreckage of the Pact fleet, to dominate the battlefield.[1] As the Tyrian technology has advanced, so did the inventions of engineers, allowing them to create useful gyros, tiny machines that have been crafted with specialised purposes, that would free their time to allow them to focus on other things.[2]

Notes[edit]

  • The March 5, 2019 game update reworked gyros into wells. Originally, gyros were mobile summons that would move by hovering and try follow the engineer around casting their skill, or walk up to their target and explode. They had a limited life span represented by the Fuel Remaining effect, could be destroyed by damage, were susceptible to crowd control, and the Scrapper could command them to self destruct to end their effects earlier, do damage, and an explosion. However, like all other summons, gyros were limited by pathing, they could only reach their target if there were no elevations that would require jumping or falling in their path. This, coupled with their limited life span, vulnerability to crowd control, and relatively low movement speed, meant gyros could sometimes have a hard time reaching their target.
    • Gyros were reworked into mobile wells that surround the Scrapper. No longer limited by movement, the new well gyros can follow the Scrapper wherever they go, while also creating a combo field around them. For flavor, the Scrapper has a purely cosmetic gyro hovering over their heads whenever they cast any of their wells, with one gyro for each well.
      • The profession mechanic, Function Gyro, was left a gyro, vulnerable to crowd control and damage to allow for counterplay, but is now cast as a ground targetted skill, eliminating pathing issues. While this skill is available, a cosmetic small scale Function Gyro hovers over the Scrapper.
