Bladesworn concept art 2.jpg

Bladesworn is an elite specialization for the warrior unlocked with the End of Dragons expansion. Bladesworns have employed the advances of Canthan Dragonjade tech to combine a sword and a gun to create their gunsabers. With cartridges loaded with amber from trees in the Echovald Forest, these weapons cut with explosive power.

Bladesworns steady their minds and replace the traditional warrior adrenaline and Burst attacks with flow, which they store during combat. They pause to concentrate and channel this flow into their gunsabers to then unleash a devastating Dragon Slash unsheath attack while firing all cartridges to increase its speed, cutting through enemies even faster than the blink of an eye, annihilating most enemies in a single hit. When unsheathed, gunsabers combine the strength of blade and gun to cut nearby enemies and shoot those far away.

Bladesworns have learned armament skills which focus on improving their damage and flow rate. Additionally, many bladesworn attacks use ammunition, charges that can be consumed to use that same skill again with no recharge, gaining benefits when consuming these charges. They can also wield pistols in their offhand, used as a melee weapon to fire all cartridges in an explosive point-blank shot. Bladesworns excel at damage dealing and can also support their allies with boons.

Profession mechanic[edit]

Calm before the storm.

— Bladesworn

Flow (the horizontal bar) is gained at a rate of 2 per second while in combat, denoted by the Positive Flow buff, and decays quickly when combat ends. Attacking will not generate flow, and flow cannot be used for core warrior burst skills. Skills and traits that generate adrenaline will have their adrenaline gain converted to flow. The first line of Bladesworn adept major traits can increase this positive flow by one stack and Flow Stabilizer can increase it by an additional two. Each stack of this positive flow buff provides 2 flow per second, meaning the maximum total flow per second is 8, from four stacks; one stack by being in combat, one from an adept major trait, and two from Flow Stabilizer.

When Dragon Trigger is activated, the Bladesworn begins channeling to convert flow into charges (the bullets above the flow bar) at a rate of 5 flow per charge, every 0.25 seconds, resulting in up to 10 charges being gained in 2.5 seconds at the cost of 50 flow. Flow is still gained as normal during this channeling process, so it is possible to continue gaining charges after your flow reaches zero, or even end up with more flow than when you started channeling. Tactical Reload doubles the number of charges gained per interval without increasing the flow drain.

Lore[edit]

Advances in Canthan technology have yielded a fusion of firearm and longsword: the gunsaber. Only the bladesworn can handle such a volatile weapon.

— Official site

Advanced Canthan technology has created a...unique weapon, fusing a firearm and a martial longblade to brutal effect. Exclusive to warriors, the gunsaber uses cartridges infused with magical, enriched amber from the heart of the mines in Echovald Forest, delivering energy to both the blade and the wielder while giving them unprecedented power.

Notes[edit]

  • Bladesworn loses traditional weapon swapping in combat, as the gunsaber is the second weapon for this specialization.
  • Adrenaline is renamed as "flow", and constantly generates while in combat. Skills that grant adrenaline will either boost flow regeneration or give a flat flow boost.
  • With the gunsaber equipped, it can be charged with flow into blasting attacks up to 10 points.
  • The Bladesworn NPC "Jadestream" Shun can be found in Lake Lutgardis in The Echovald Wilds.

Trivia[edit]

  • Uses Onyx Lion pistol skin in the spotlight video.
