The Elon Riverlands is a zone in the Crystal Desert. The place gets its name from the Elon River that runs through it.

History and geography[edit]

Originally part of the Crystal Sea, it became a parched and arid land after the Exodus of the Gods for a millennia until Palawa Joko diverted the Elon River through the desert as part of his second invasion of Elona. The diverting of the Elon River has resulted in several pools of quicksand scattering the area, as well as a growth of verdant plantlife and migrating species, such as skimmers.

In the north lies Augury Rock and the Hall of Ascension within. Over the millennia several groups have attempted to reach Ascension, leaving various ruins scattering the area and its northern neighbor, the Crystal Oasis. Among the ruins are the remains of Turai Ossa's failed colony. Nowadays, pilgrims known as Followers of Ascension have gathered from across Central Tyria and Elona to research or attempt the ancient rite of Ascension.

To the south, along with the Elon River stands Joko's imposing Bone Wall, which marks the northern border of his kingdom. Those who have broken Joko's laws are exiled just beyond the Bone Wall, forced into labor camps to toil in fields under the oppression of Joko's Awakened who watch over the area from The Deadhouse.
