Activity

From Guild Wars 2 Wiki

Activities are fun minigames by which you can participate in things you can't normally do in the game. You can find them throughout Tyria, especially during holidays.

— Level 37 rewards.

Activities are instanced mini-games for characters of all levels, and usually switch out weapon skills for new ones specific to the activity. Most involve some sort of PvP, and provide a level playing field with unique mechanics.

ArenaNet and the Official Wiki also use the word activities in a general sense, particularly with reference to various dynamic events, adventures and other attractions that are part of festivals.[1]

Daily activity[edit]

The current available activity can be seen by hovering over the Activity (map icon).png map icon. One activity is available each day:

Notes[edit]

Gwwlogo.png The Guild Wars Wiki has an article on Minigame.
A guardian's aegis is triggered within several activities even when it is not visible on the guardian. This disrupts several activities as the aegis may absorb hits even from friendly players (e.g.: Keg disappears in Keg brawl, Crab is absorbed and disappears in Crab Toss).
  • Formerly, the name of the activity NPC in Lion's Arch varied with the activity.
  • If you are in an activity when the day swaps you can finish the game, but upon completion you are kicked to whatever map you were in prior.

Trivia[edit]

  • Only the daily rotation activities, and some festival activities such as Bell Choir and Toypocalypse, counted towards the Daily Activity Participation achievement.
  • Before launch, ArenaNet suggested that they had plans for as many as 30 activities or mini-games, but only a few have been implemented. Previously mentioned ideas include: Archery/Target Range.[2], Bar Brawl, Polymock, Smash 'Em Up.[3], and an unknown activity that involves shooting mini golems that explode. [4] With the introduction of Heart of Thorns, some of these ideas seem to be have been implemented in the Adventures that players have access to upon completing various events or reaching areas in the Heart of Maguuma.
