Ascended weapon
Ascended weapons are weapons of Ascended rarity. All ascended weapons come with a single infusion slot when they are one-handed or off-hand, and two when they are two-handed or aquatic. Attribute combination of an ascended weapon can be changed using the Mystic Forge by replacing it with a new item of desired stats.

Crafting[edit]
- Primary article: Ascended crafting#Ascended weapons
Standard Ascended weapons (with Antique skins) may be crafted by level 500 Artificer, Huntsman and Weaponsmiths. The recipes can be bought from certain NPCs (e.g. Master craftsmans or Guild Traders) or obtained from opening certain containers or recipe books. Because some materials are timegated (limited to one craft per day), each weapon requires a minimum of 5 days to craft. This timegate may be circumvented by purchasing the refined materials.
Certain Ascended weapon sets (such as Stellar weapons) use their own recipes with specific unlock criteria rather than the above standard recipes.
The precursor weapons for the second generation legendaries are also Ascended.
For a full list of craftable Ascended weapon sets, see List of weapon sets and filter by Ascended and Crafted.
Players can also craft Grandmaster Marks to exchange for Ascended weapons at certain vendors. The recipes for these marks are sold at BLING-9009, Ascended Weapon League Vendor and Skirmish Supervisor.
Looting[edit]
Certain activities have a small chance of rewarding players with unique ascended weapons.
- Raid bosses may drop specific weapons, available once per kill weekly. This weapon is the same type available for purchase from Scholar Glenna after defeating that particular boss.
- Strike Mission coffers (and their Challenge Mode versions) may drop specific weapons. These coffers can be obtained through the kill reward once weekly, or through the Priority Strike daily achievement. The weapons may also be purchased directly from Shard Collectors after defeating that particular boss.
- End of Dragons missions may reward a random Living Water weapon.
- Secrets of the Obscure missions may reward a random Sinful weapon.
- Rift Hunting events may drop a random Skyscale weapon.
Notable Dynamic and Meta events may also offer unique ascended weapons.
- Defeating Tequatl the Sunless may reward players with a Tequatl's Hoard from the Exotic Dragon Chest which is only obtainable once daily. This offers the choice of a Weapon of the Sunless.
- Defeating Drakkar may reward players with a Drakkar's Hoard from the daily bonus chest. This offers the choice of a Weapon of the Broken Voice.
- Mistborn Coffers in Dragonfall may contain a Gift of Aurene, offering the choice of a Weapon of the Scion. One Gift is guaranteed to drop once per account within the first 1000 coffers opened.
- Completing Dragonstorm may drop a Gift of Aurene or a stat-selectable Frostsaw.
- Defeating Soo-Won may reward players with a random Living Water weapon.
- Dragon Coffers, available during the Dragon Bash festival and through trading, may contain a Tequatl's Hoard or Gift of Aurene.
Furthermore, most gameplay content provides a small chance of rewarding a random Ascended weapon chest.
- Daily fractal chests, with this chance increasing for higher tier chests
- World versus World rank up rewards
- Reward track loot boxes, available through Player versus Player and World versus World

Weapons with selectable prefixes[edit]

Prefix change[edit]
- Primary article: Stat changing
The prefix of an ascended weapon can be changed by using this Mystic Forge recipe. Note the inscription must be the Exotic version of the stats of the desired weapon.
Note that the original weapon will be destroyed, including all of its upgrades. The new weapon will be the common acquisition equivalent of the new prefix. Attempting to stat-change a precursor weapon will result in a weapon that is NOT upgradable to legendary weapon.
