Talk:Ascended weapon
Acquiring prefix?[edit]
Currently page says "Players will need to purchase a Recipe: Ascended Inscription and use it to acquire the recipe for prefix they want. Players also need to purchase a recipe for the appropriate weapon type; a greatsword requires a Recipe: Ascended Greatsword, which can be used to acquire the recipe for the prefix they want."
In other words, you can get the prefix recipe from "Recipe: Ascended Inscription" or from the specific weapon recipe? Which is it? Both? This seems contradictory. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.250.141.172 (talk) at 14:54, 3 September 2013 (UTC).
- Both work the same way. First you buy a Recipe: Ascended Inscription consumable, use it to open the selection window, pick your prefix to generate a recipe sheet, and use the recipe sheet to learn the recipe for that prefix inscription.
- Then you buy a Recipe: Ascended <weapon>, use it to open the selection window, pick the same prefix to generate a recipe sheet, and use the recipe sheet to learn the recipe for that prefix/weapon combination. —Dr Ishmael 15:41, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
Pluralized[edit]
Usully these articles are pluralized. But there is already a readirect, so I can't move it there. - Yandere 10:37, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
- I wanted this page to be about the class (quality) of weapons and properties related to it, as all ascended equipment has certain properties. Each weapon type as a set of ascended weapons, which makes sense to me to pluralize. The main reason being there is a unique skin for each prefix and there will be a weapon set gallery for each weapon type, but not for the general ascended weapon. Same reason to have Legendary weapon singular.--Relyk ~ talk < 18:47, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
- Honestly, it makes more sense to have all of these pages singular, because it's easier to link to them. Ascended weapon is easily modified into Ascended weapons, but Ascended weapons requires a piped link to make Ascended weapon. —Dr Ishmael 19:23, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
- I actually don'T know why we settled on plural, but I agree with you Ish. - Yandere 21:00, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
Layout[edit]
Can the Ascended Weapon page not be laid out much like the table used for the Legendary Weapons? Lady Elyssa (talk) 17:45, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Listing base materials like on the legendary weapon page and here is a horrendous mess--Relyk ~ talk < 00:34, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
- And it is not really helpful, because no instructions are given how to read that mess. For example: 3 Orichalcum Ingot and 2 Ancient Wood Plank are used to create 1 or 5 Orichalcum Plated Dowels? I know that that they will create one because I crafted the today. But the list doesn'T indicate that in any way. So either I already know how much recources I will burn in the process or I have to look up every reciepe anyway. - Yandere 21:00, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
- I agree, all I see when I look at that is a huge blob of icons. Normally I love lists, but this is just... ugh. —Dr Ishmael 04:42, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
icon/skin colors decoded[edit]
All prefixes with the same primary attribute share the same icon/skin color. Here's the tabulation:

Comments[edit]
- Very nice, I copied the table onto the main page. Much more helpful than the list. As far as I know, you can't create Giver's ascended weapons because the is no recipe for it. - Yandere 12:07, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- Probably worth noting that then :) -Chieftain Alex 12:12, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- mayhaps instead of having two columns with effectively the same content ("Ascended Reaver" + "Axe") ... just wikilink from the "Axe" to "Ascended Reaver"? 86.172.205.111 17:57, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
- Great job on the layout and good to see you are still lurking in the shadows Chieftain Alex :D Lady Elyssa (talk) 19:06, 10 September 2013 (UTC)

What shield is this?[edit]
I happened to get a close up shot of this ascended shield, but I don't know which one it is, and I don't know who the guy was so I can't ask. It looks like a cross between File:Calcite Antique Bastion.jpg and File:Citrine Antique Bastion.jpg. So what's up? Psycho Robot (talk) 21:33, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
- no idea, perhaps the weapons aren't as similar as we thought when we did the galleries with shared files. (created a gallery at Ascended Bastion for reference) -Chieftain Alex 22:43, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
Raid Weapon Salvage[edit]
I salvaged Defender's Sparking Dagger, and it returned 60 magnetite fragments, and the typical ascended salvage stuff (1 dark ball and 1 vision crystal in this case).
I'd like to assume it'd always give back 10% of the cost to buy it with raid currency but I don't have enough evidence to back it up.
To other people who have salvaged raid gear: could you list how much magnetite shards it dropped? Thanks.
Dreadful News.7435 08:31, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
- I got 60 magnetite shards for both my goresval shield drops (so 120 total). Got a vision crystal+dark ball+salvaged Puissance for both salvages -Darqam (talk) 03:06, 11 March 2016 (UTC)
Feedback 2023/09/25[edit]
This page needs adding to the fact that you can get Ascended weapons from the Wizards Vault now too. --86.166.119.138 00:46, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
