After the defeat of Mordremoth, the Mordrem were slowly driven back deeper into the jungle. A contingent of the Nightmare Court, led by Duchess Chrysanthea, worked alongside the Pact to defeat their former brethren, vanquishing the dragon's yoke once and for all.
From the ashes of the defeated Mordrem, however, something returned. A Sylvari returned from the Mists in her uncorrupted form, puzzling the courtiers who found her. She remembered nothing of who she had been in life, but within her mind, echoes of Ventari's teachings clashed with echoes of Mordremoth's call. The Duchess decided to take her in, hoping that she could help the confused Sylvari overcome both of those echoes of her previous life and turn her into a member of the court. She named the Sylvari Lotusaya, for she had been reborn amidst the destruction of the battlefield.
However, the echoes in Lotusaya's mind could not be quieted. Ventari's spirit imbued her with its power, reminding her of everything she had been taught in the Grove, and she rejected the Duchess's attempts to liberate her. She took to referring to herself as "Lota" as a show of defiance, and eventually decided to leave the Court entirely, striking out on her own and making a life for herself in the dense jungle. As long as Ventari's soothing words could stave off the dragon's rage, she needed no one else.
