Like many Kurzicks, Jin's ancestors fled the Echovald Forest when Emperor Usoku invaded. As the Kurzicks struggled to reestablish their community in foreign lands, a tactful merchant built up his wealth and standing in Krytan society and made his family one of the few foreign families near the pinnacle of power in Kryta. That lasted until Jin's father, the heir to that legacy, squandered his power and influence with a series of poor decisions, ultimately landing himself in prison. Jin, who had been raised in comfort and luxury, suddenly found herself forced to escape from her father's shadow and build a livelihood of her own. Anxious to regain her wealth any way she could, she fell in with a group of petty thieves and began developing her trade.
However, the new series of conflicts in Tyria has provided new opportunities, and she may finally be able to break out of her life in the darkest corners of Divinity's Reach and make a name for herself as a force against the evils that threaten humanity. Doing so might restore her family's honor and reputation and return her to the life of prestige that she was meant to have.
