Gerta had always been known as a great huntress. Ultimately, however, her insatiable passion for the hunt drew concern, as she relentlessly collected kills from across the Norn territories. The other Norn understood the need for moderation, for the sake of the mountain ecosystem, but Gerta refused to be restrained. Her brethren cast her out of Hoelbrak, and she was made to go south, into the territory of the elder dragon, Zhaitan.
Near the Sea of Sorrows, she encountered a group from the Durmand Priory that was trying to negotiate with the local Hylek. Interrupting the fruitless endeavor, she helped fight off an attack by the Risen, drawing the attention of both parties. As more Risen threatened, she promised that she would help the Priory and the Hylek fight them off, and vanquish all of Zhaitan's remaining minions from the shores north of Orr.
The chief threat that the Hylek were facing was from Tequatl the Sunless, the champion of Zhaitan that had grown stronger after its master's death. Gerta accompanied the Hylek further south to Fabled Djannor, where a group of fellow hunters were gathering to repel the monster. Joining the battle, she earned the friendship of the Hylek and the title "Sunbringer," which she proudly donned as a new surname. Noting how she had made extensive use of a rifle during the fight, the Hylek also gave her an elaborate beaded rifle.
She remains there, well away from the lands she was exiled from, continuing to help the Hylek fight their undead enemy.
