Walkthrough[edit]
Speak to Warmaster Forgal Kernsson upon entering, then escort Sergeant Eilye Jeyne on the way to Summit Peak.
You will fight 2 ambushes of 4 Charr Renegades, then be attacked by 2 Veteran Ogre Brutes and a Charr Renegade at a crossroads with two tents. There is a defeated Hunter on the road and an Ebon Vanguard Archer whom you can revive to assist you in combat. If Sergeant Jeyne runs ahead of you, she will stop and wait for you (she turns right at the tents).
After clearing the Ogres, you will come across a defeated Ebon Vanguard Warrior surrounded by what appear to be dead Charr. If you choose to revive the warrior, he'll tell you it's a trap and 5 charr will get up and attack you. If you get defeated at any time Forgal may revive you.
When you get to the delegation site, a cutscene will play and two options will be offered you. Speak to the ambassadors and choose a plan for dealing with Ajax: defending at Summit Peak or assaulting his hideout. The story will branch for the next quest depending on your choice.
Note that after exiting the instance for this mission, you end up in the soldiers' camp where the Champion Wasp Queen and Wasp Soldier group event occurs!

Dialogue[edit]
Approaching Forgal (cinematic):
- Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: Who are you people? Commander Samuelsson didn't mention an escort, and you certainly don't look like the Vanguard!
- <Character Name>: We're with the Vigil. We know about the attack planned for Minister Duran. We're here to make sure you reach him in time.
- Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: An escort? I'm a soldier of the Ebon Vanguard. I don't need babysitters.
- Warmaster Forgal Kernsson: We're not babysitters, we're tourists. Traveling the same road, taking in the same scenery, and beating the ever-living crap out of the same idiots as you.
- Warmaster Forgal Kernsson: You look like a fine sergeant. Are you really going to tell us where we can't go and who we can't beat up on such a nice day?
- Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: I have to get this message to the minister. I don't have time for this. Just keep up, or I leave you behind.
- Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: Head out for Summit Peak, and don't slow down.
After the cinematic:
- Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: So Vigil's my escort? Fine. Just don't tell the rest of the Vanguard. I'll never hear the end of it.
- Warmaster Forgal Kernsson: If I'd had a daughter, she'd be a lot like Jeyne...except smarter, stubborner, and better-lookin'.
Talking to Forgal en route:
- Warmaster Forgal Kernsson: You're doing well so far, Recruit—but don't get too cocky.
- So all we have to do is get Sergeant Jeyne to the ambassadors?
- It's not as easy as it looks. The renegades could be anywhere. Stay sharp.
- Will do, sir.
- I'll stay ready, Warmaster.
If Jeyne is defeated en route:
- Warmaster Forgal Kernsson: Recruit! We need Sergeant Jeyne. Get that soldier on her feet.
On the way to Summit Peak:
- Warmaster Forgal Kernsson: Careful. This has "ambush" written all over it.
- Charr Renegade: For the charr!
- Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: Stay alert. Keep moving.
- Farmer: Ebonhawke dogs! I spit on your cowardly "peace!"
- Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: Is that another Renegade up ahead? They aren't even bothering to disguise their ambushes? That's just insulting.
Upon finding and reviving the Hunter:
- Warmaster Forgal Kernsson: I see a survivor. Stand the line, we have to help her!
- Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: No, we can't risk it! If the ambassador is killed, many more lives will be lost.
- Warmaster Forgal Kernsson: You'd abandon your own soldiers?
- Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: We all knew the risk when we joined the Vanguard. Duty first.
- Hunter: You were such a help. Thanks.
Upon finding and reviving the Archer:
- Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: Balthazar's breath! Ogres? The Renegades are stirring up anything they can, just to send 'em at us!
- Ebon Vanguard Archer: Thank you! I thought I was done for. I'll help you make it to the peak.
Upon finding and reviving the Warrior:
- Ebon Vanguard Warrior: No...run! It's a trap.
Upon arrival at the camp:
- Ebon Vanguard Archer: Officer on site! Stand at attention!
- Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: We're here.
Talking to the ambassadors before Jeyne arrives:
- Ambassador Steelcrusher: The Vigil, here? Has something gone wrong? Where is Sergeant Jeyne?
- The Vigil was sent to reinforce the Vanguard. The renegades have planned an ambush, sir
- No doubt. Well, I'm glad you're here. Maybe we can turn the tables on Ajax and his brutes.
- That's my hope, too, sir.
- Keep your voice down and stay close. Everything's going to be fine.
- Minister Duran: Who are you? Where's Sergeant Jeyne? You look like Vigil troops!
- We're here to reinforce Sergeant Jeyne's escort. You're in great danger, Minister.
- If the Vigil's taking a hand, the situation must be serious. Very well, I'll trust you, <character name>.
- Thank you, Minister.
- Just stay calm and we'll keep you safe.
Approaching the ambassadors with Jeyne (cinematic):
- Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: Minister Duran! Sir! Please, it's critical that you hear this.
- Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: Commander Samuelsson sent me from Ebonhawke. You're both in terrible danger.
- Minister Duran: Danger? Slow down, Sergeant. Take a deep breath, and tell me what's going on.
- Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: Ajax Anvilburn and his Renegades are going to ambush you. They plan to assassinate Minister Duran and blame the attack on Ambassador Steelcrusher.
- Ambassador Steelcrusher: Well, we can't let that happen, can we? Duran, can you fight?
- Minister Duran: Not as well as a charr, but I can hold my own. We could take cover at Summit Peak up ahead. Having the high ground would be in our favor.
- Minister Duran: The camp is a defensible location. If the Renegades don't know we're prepared, we could turn the tables on them when they attack.
- Ambassador Steelcrusher: With all due respect, Minister, the best defense is usually a good offense. I recommend we find the traitor's base and destroy Ajax before he can strike.
- Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: The Vigil were the ones to uncover this plot. With due respect, sirs, I think we should let them decide if we choose ambush or assault.
Talking to your allies before choosing a plan:
- Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: Hurry up and talk to the ambassadors. We need a plan before those renegades get bold again.
- Right. No problem.
- Warmaster Forgal Kernsson: We're here. I'll keep an eye out for attack, while you fill in the ambassadors on the situation.
- Good plan, sir.
- Ambassador Steelcrusher: The High Legions have spies among the renegades. We'll find Ajax's camp, and crush their little force together.
- I agree. Let's take these guys out before they can do any more harm.
- Leads to Quaestor's Siege
- Can you tell me more about your plan?
- We know Ajax's camp is in the Thunderbreak Hills. If we surprise him there, we can end this without risking the peace talks.
- That makes sense. We should attack Ajax at his camp.
- Leads to Quaestor's Siege
- I'm not sure that's the best idea. Let me think about this a bit longer.
- I'm not sure that's the best idea. Let me think about this a bit longer.
- Minister Duran: Summit Peak is defensible. If we make our stand there, the renegades won't be able to overcome us.
- You're right. Defending a stable point is the best idea.
- Leads to Minister's Defense
- Tell me more about your plan.
- It's simple really. There are clear routes into Summit Peak, so we should be able to stop any assault.
- That sounds like the Vigil way! I'm all for it.
- Leads to Minister's Defense
- I'm not sure I agree. Let me think about this.
- I'm not sure I agree. Let me think about this.
If assault is chosen:
- Ambassador Steelcrusher: We'll head for the Renegade's Camp, and attack with all the force we can muster. Good Choice, Recruit.
If defense is chosen:
- Minister Duran: Excellent. Set up the defenses. I'll try to remember what my old swordmaster, Bongo, taught me.
Talking to your allies after a choice is made:
- Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: I'm still annoyed that the Vigil was sent to babysit me. But considering the odds, maybe it's good that you were here.
- Fine...I'm grateful. Better?
- Yes, and you're welcome for the assist.
Without us, you'd have been a smear on the ground! Show some gratitude.
- I still think I could have handled things on my own, but...thanks very much.
- You're very welcome.
It was my pleasure to offer you my protection.
- It was for the best, Corporal[sic]. I'm glad you see that now.
- Warmaster Forgal Kernsson: I'm glad we were here. No insult to Sergeant Jeyne, but she could never have handled this alone.
- I agree. I'm glad the Vigil took an interest.
- Ambassador Steelcrusher: It's good that you Vigil came along. The Ebon Vanguard is powerful, but they weren't prepared for this ambush.
- Prepared or not, they were sincere in their desire to keep you safe, Ambassador.
- That's true, and the gesture is meaningful. I shouldn't discount that. Thank you, <Character name>.
- You're welcome, sir.
- Glad we could help, sir.
- Minister Duran: I'm grateful for your protection, <Character name>. We owe a great debt to you and Warmaster Forgal.
- How are the treaty negotiations going?
- I'm heartened by Ambassador Steelcrush's[sic] attitude. I really think we can find compromises that help both of our people.
- Good to hear that.
- It was our honor, Minister. These negotiations are critical to the safety of Tyria. The Vigil knows that.
Talking with other allies:
- Pugio Swifttooth: Welcome, soldier of the Vigil.
- Who are you?
- I'm Pugio. Soldier of the Ash Legion. Bodyguard to Ambassador Steelcrusher.
- Ash Legion? I thought Steelcrusher was Iron Legion.
- Yes, but the three great legions know that peace with the humans is the best choice. We're working together to that end.
- But not all charr believe in peace.
- No, sadly, and they threaten the peace talks here. No harm will come to the ambassadors, I assure you.
- I hope not.
- Interesting.
- Nice to meet you.
- Thanks. Take care.
