Down the Hatch is part of the personal story for characters of all races who decided to join the Order of Whispers.
Objectives[edit]
Rescue Demmi Beetlestone from the Jackdaw pirates.
- Meet Tybalt at the pirate camp.
- Keep the Jackdaw pirates occupied so Tybalt can search for Demmi.
- Win the drinking competition.
- Follow Tybalt to the prisoner's cell.
- Defeat the pirates and free Demmi.
- Defeat the last of the pirates so Demmi and Tybalt can flee to safety.
Locate the Order of Whispers safehouse in Lion's Arch
- Talk to Bouncer Kinna inside the Crow's Nest tavern.
I should make sure Tybalt and Demmi made it to the safehouse.
- Head to the Order of Whispers safehouse in Lion's Arch.
- Speak with Tybalt.
- Speak with Demmi.
- Discuss your next move with Tybalt, then choose a plan of action.

Walkthrough[edit]
First you have a drinking contest. There are three rounds. The goal is to reduce your enemy's HP to zero before you die.

5 | Belch | ¾ | 20 | Let loose a belch to damage your opponent. The lower your health, the more powerful it is. |
6-0 | Locked | You cannot use skills while transformed. |
- Skill 1 reduces both of your HP.
- Skill 2 causes your next drink to not reduce your HP, but might cause the enemy to release poison.
- Skill 3 heals both you and the enemy.
- Skill 4 is channeled appears to add hidden effects, but only works some of the time.
- It may cause your Drink Water to heal 100% more.
- It may cause your Drink Water to heal 200% more and cause regeneration for 6 seconds.
- It may damage your opponent.
- It may make the audience ignore your next Fakeout.
- It may make your next Belch stronger.
- Skill 5 is only available for a few seconds after using #1, allows you to poison the enemy, and it's stronger when your HP is low. While this skill is not available it will not appear in the skill bar, but its recharge will progress normally.
Exact conditions to make skill 4 work are unclear but seem to be related to how much more HP you have over your enemy, and/or how many drinks you have had without drinking water, and/or if the enemy is poisoned from Skill 5.
General strategy is to alternate between 1 and 2, then release 5 when your HP is low, then boast with skill 4, then recover using 3. Sometimes the poison released from 2 hurts more than drinking, in that case just don't use 2.
For the final pirate, use 1 until you're around 200-300 health, and then belch. Sometimes, the belch will knock the opponent to the ground and you can drink water (3) and they will not drink water after you. Use this method to get kill them off. If they do not fall down after you belch, boast, take one drink of water, and then repeat (drink until you're around 200-300 health) until they fall down and you can drink water and they can't. When they stand up, finish them off.
However, the final enemy gets less benefit from healing (she has more health than you, but heals the same amount or less when she drinks water, so healing is less useful for her) a good alternate strategy is to use 1 until you are low on health, then use 5, and then 3. you will gain more benefit (relatively) so you can repeat until they fall.
A safe but much slower strategy is using #1 followed by #5, then using #4 2 times to make time for #5 to recharge, then repeat.
It is possible to get an extra advantage by using food that heals health every second (e.g. Bowl of Candy Corn Custard, Apple Tart, Shiverpeak Ration).

After the contest is over, you will swim to the next island over, where Demmi Beetlestone is being held. Defeat the prison guard; afterwards, a number of other pirates will approach and engage. When they are all defeated, Tybalt will tell you to meet him and Demmi at Whispers HQ in Lion's Arch. Leave the mission instance and travel to Lion's Arch.
The HQ is south of Commodore's Quarter Waypoint. Talk to Bouncer Kinna, then enter the pub instance and go downstairs. Watch the cutscene with Lady Wi, Tybalt, and your other allies. You must then choose which mission you will do next, either They Went Thataway or Thrown Off Guard.

- Lady Wi: Initiate, my name is Lady Wi. I'm the Order's agent within the Krytan ministry. This rough-looking gentleman is Benn Tenstrikes, my protector.
- Benn Tenstrikes: I was supposed to get Demmi safely out of Divinity's Reach, but I got sacked by Ministry Guards.
- Lady Wi: You're lucky to be alive, Benn. Caudecus wields great power in Kryta, and he's none too pleased about his daughter's desertion.
- Demmi Beetlestone: How did Landon find me? There's no way the Ministry Guard could have tracked me this far from Divinity's Reach.
- Lady Wi: Your father probably purchased a tracking enchantment. Do you have anything you never remove? Something he knew you'd keep with you?
- Demmi Beetlestone: My mother's necklace! He's using it to follow me? My father is a coldhearted snake!
- Lady Wi: This safehouse will block such divining, but when you leave here, you will be found. Lion's Arch is no longer safe for you.
- Lady Wi: Tybalt, Initiate. You must take Demmi to the Chantry of Secrets right away. She'll be safe there.

- Lightbringer Tybalt Leftpaw: Everyone get supplies, and get some rest. We'll head out once it's dark enough to leave the city unnoticed.

- <Character name>: We've decided to leave a false trail, and trick the Ministry Guard into an ambush. Once they're out of the way, it'll be easier to get Demmi to safety.
- <Character name>: Tybalt and I will lay an ambush, while Benn gets Demmi out of the city. After we've handled Landon, we'll meet up with you again.
- Lady Wi: If you're determined to do this, at least let me make the ruse a good one. With a little magical assistance, Tybalt will make an excellent Demmi Beetlestone.

- The drinking contest evolved to become Belcher's Bluff.
- Characters wear the Pirate Captain's Outfit as their disguise, in the form of a set of temporary town clothing:
- Since town clothing slots are no longer accessible, they can only be seen by hovering the mouse over head, chest, leg and foot armor slots of the armor class of the character to show gear comparing tooltips.
- They are removed upon leaving the story instance.
