2024-10-16 (23:25) | The Charr Disassociation | The text mentions that Caesetia Flamecaller, who was one of the first interactions between a titan and a charr, joined Kalla Scorchrazor. However, the charr encountered the titans around 870 AE, and Kalla Scorchrazor's rebellion took place in 1116 AE, which is about a 246 year difference. It is possible the text means to reference Bathea Havocbringer, who revolted against the Shaman Caste after they declared the titans new gods for the charr |
2024-10-04 (23:06) | Collect evidence of Kryptis infiltration
2024-10-04 (22:01) | Ox Spirit | According to A Spirit of Legend, the Spirit of Dolyak is also called Ox. However, the Shrine to Ox in Hoelbrak and Dolyak Totem in Angvar's Trove differ in appearance. (The first is a bull, while the second is a dolyak.) |
2024-04-14 (15:44) | Daucus | Daucus claims virtuosos do not summon phantasms. This is incorrect, virtuosos can summon phantasms. However, they cannot summon clones. |
2024-03-12 (22:42) | Zojja's Journal: Droknar's Light | Although these journal entries talk about Lyhr being unaware of Droknar's Light fractal being made, in Fragment of Lyhr's Journal, Lyhr writes about how Dagda invited him to its creation in 1127 AE. |
2024-02-18 (07:17) | Statue of Ferro the Butcher | The text here mentions Ferro joined the Sentinels defending the Dragonbrand until his son, Bhuer Goreblade, was born, however the Dragonbrand was only created in 1320 AE, two years before Ferro's death, and well after Bhuer's birth. |
2023-11-22 (00:57) | Captain Farrus's Second Journal | This book says that the Astral Ward did not have a Wayfinder before the group got lost in Nayos at the beginning of Secrets of the Obscure, however Livia has been a Wayfinder for over a century. |
2023-09-25 (21:38) | Celestial Plaque | The plaque about Hai Jii states that Grenth sentenced Hai Jii's family to an eternity of torture by flame. However, in Guild Wars, the very same story has Grenth punishing those who killed Hai Jii's family to this punishment instead, stating "Hai Jii dropped to his knees and begged Grenth to see to it that his family's murderers found no peace in the afterlife. Grenth heard Hai Jii's prayers, dooming the souls of the murderers to an eternity of fiery torture." |
2023-09-11 (20:59) | Covington Keep | Dialogue in the Battle of Claw Island suggests that Port Noble fell before the building of Claw Island, however in Sea of Sorrows, Claw Island was built before Port Noble was destroyed. |
2023-09-06 (12:57) | Zojja's Journal: Primal Maguuma | Although the second journal entry says it isn't known why Waiting Sorrow created this fractal, both Maguuma Fractal Research and Callista mention that the Primal Maguuma Fractal was created to study the effects of overflowing magic on the wildlife over a long period of time, and that it was created "merely decades" ago, while Waiting Sorrow left the Wizard's Court centuries ago. |
2023-09-05 (06:07) | Aged Journal | The Aged Journal mentions that the cease-fire with the charr was still recent, however, On the Introduction of Sylvari to the Astral Ward establishes the events of meeting Mabli as happening in 1306 AE. The cease-fire was signed in late 1324 AE, the year Ghosts of Ascalon takes place. |
2023-09-04 (12:10) | Rumors of Trouble | During the final dialogue, Eir says "That may be the kodan. They have an enclave near Hunter's Lake". However, there are no kodan in Hunter's Lake, nor in all of the Wayfarer Foothills. The story continues by talking to a kodan in Hunter's Pitfalls, in Snowden Drifts. |
2023-06-13 (04:21) | Mycelium Colony | Although the mushrooms should be from the Heart of Maguuma, one of the models used is from the Otherworldly Fungus, which is not native to the world of Tyria. |
2023-03-06 (02:47) | Gyala Delve | In Guild Wars, The Deep was connected to Cavalon and ran eastward. However, in Guild Wars 2, it is southeast of Gyala Hatchery, roughly where The Aurios Mines was located. Both locations deal with Kanaxai's Nightmare Horde. |
2023-03-06 (02:46) | The Deep | In Guild Wars, The Deep was connected to Cavalon and ran eastward, however in Guild Wars 2, it is southeast of Gyala Hatchery, roughly where The Aurios Mines was located. Both locations deal with Kanaxai's Nightmare Horde. |
2023-02-25 (22:35) | Connecting the Pieces | The first hologram recording in The Dead End instance talks about events that happened before Scarlet found out of hologram recordings, such as shortly after her awakening (very first entry). |
2023-02-08 (14:33) | Scholar Lutta | * Lutta's dialogue seems to imply that she is channeling the actual souls of the dead, however, revenants channel echoes created by the Mists of the original individuals.
|
2022-08-03 (09:14) | Yu Dal-Rae | The vase plaque in Weight of the World implies that Yu Dal-Rae is Joon's mother ( Joon was clearly a devoted daughter., in reference to Dal-Rae). This conflicts with A copy of 'The Kaineng Insider', which states that Joon's jade-trading parent was Yu Anhjong. ("Yu Joon, daughter of Yu Anhjong, a jade trader".) |
2022-03-18 (05:19) | Vigil Priest | Norn do not have priests, but shamans. After this was brought up on the forums, the naming issue was fixed for other "Priest" and "Priestess" NPCs in Bjora Marches in the September 21, 2021 game update, but not this NPC. |
2022-03-18 (05:10) | Veteran Seraph Captain | According to The Line of Duty – The Three Military Orders of Kryta, "The highest rank in the Seraph is captain. At any given time, the queen has from five to ten captains in the Seraph; each operates independently, but in coordination, under her command." However, there are far more Veteran Seraph Captain npcs throughout Lake Doric the Awakened invasions. |
2021-12-17 (02:26) | Shining Blade Secrets | One of the Shining Blade documents mentions Queen Salma being present at the founding of Divinity's Reach. However, the city was not built until 1220 AE by King Baede in the aftermath of the Rising of Orr as shown in e.g. the Sea of Sorrows novel and its timeline, while Salma reigned over a century earlier in 1088 AE.Another one of the Shining Blade documents mentions Livia died at the age of 93 in 1157 AE. However, this would put her as being 14 when players meet her during Guild Wars Eye of the North, where she appears to be a full adult. Additionally this age would put her at 8 during Guild Wars Prophecies, when a Shining Blade warrior suggests she'd make a good leader, and comments on her good looks. |
2021-02-18 (03:56) | Dulann, Luminate's Envoy | In Crystalline Memories, an echo of Glint through a memory crystal says that she cannot see beyond the battle with Kralkatorrik where she died. This conflicts with Dulann's dialogue, where he implies Glint's words continued up until Kralkatorrik's fall. |
2020-11-22 (00:28) | Code Breaker | It is impossible for the player character to have deciphered the message with the information available. Assuming that the message is hidden on line 1 of page 297 of Under the Valley of the Lily, the code could be 166 3 13 11 51 125 5 129 7 13 35 51 27 5 6 7 13 11 4 172 5 31 13 6 20 18 28 5 2 14 5 50 9 2 27 11 71 5 129 13 2 28 5 13 28 5 61 27 11 7 6 50 61 6 20 71 , where each number stands for the position of a character (starting with 1 for L) to be taken from the text including spaces, and it would read Vladok weaPon ready, target is blind. wait at underburg. .
|
2020-09-17 (17:14) | Li Bo | Li Bo's letters found in the fractal mention both Lan and the dates 1637–1638 CC (1127-1128 AE) which correspond with the timeframe of Emperor Usoku's campaign to unite Cantha in 1127 AE. However, Bo and Lan's graves show the dates 586–618 and 608–620 CC respectively, which would place their deaths over a millennium earlier than the events described in the letters. |
2020-07-19 (22:49) | Eitel the Unlovable | Despite the fact he has to be killed in The Trial of Julius Zamon, he is alive and well in Noble Ledges. |
2020-07-18 (01:37) | Caravan Accounting Records | Caravan Accounting Records state that "On the 110th day of Phoenix, ..." This conflicts with the Mouvelian calendar in which no season has a 110th day. This could however be intentional and might imply that the records are void. |
2020-05-21 (16:43) | Book of Vlast | The book states that "When the Branded came, [Vlast] was the first to throw himself into the fray. [...] The people of Elona told tales for generations, both of hope and of fear toward their 'protector.'" The suggestion that Branded had existed in the desert for multiple generations (with the average period of a generation being about twenty-thirty years), instead of only about a decade, conflicts with most of the known lore, including Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire—Road to the Desert which states that "1320 AE: An Elder Dragon Moves In. Kralkatorrik, the Crystal Elder Dragon, wakes from its slumber and heads directly for the desert region, leaving a corrupted swath of Branded landscape and creatures in its wake." while the Path of Fire story takes place in 1330 AE as per the story journal. |
2020-03-29 (04:03) | Ralote Foebreaker | Ralote says that humans "stole our homeland" two centuries ago, however, humans conquered Ascalon in 100 BE, 1,400 years ago, and lost Ascalon to the charr around 1090 AE (date of the Foefire), just over two centuries ago. |
2020-03-28 (21:57) | Many Stars | The Wisdom and Power of the Kodan quote Many Stars and cite her as a Voice of Koda, however, in-game her dialogue, documented above, indicates that her Voice and Claw (from Honor of the Waves sanctuary) went missing. |
2020-03-04 (01:17) | Sickly Quaggan | This quaggan died and then was corrupted into an Icebrood before Zhaitan was killed. With Living World Season 3, it was established that Elder Dragons could only corrupt the dead with Zhaitan's magic, after Zhaitan's death. |
2019-12-30 (03:53) | Owl (Spirit of the Wild) | According to Owl Shaman Ulgadis, the battle against Jormag would have been fought above the Owl Lodge in Snowden Drifts, but Skaald Stjarna seems to contradict her tale and suggest the actual site of the battle was farther north. |
2019-12-06 (18:31) | Captain Gullivre | Gullivre says that Jormag awoke beneath Drakkar Lake, however the creature has been confirmed to be Drakkar, a dragon champion of Jormag. |
2019-12-06 (18:04) | Thyrie Bylund | Thyrie Bylund says that Jormag awoke beneath Drakkar Lake; however, the creature has been confirmed to be Drakkar, a champion of Jormag. |
2019-08-27 (18:59) | The Tribune's Call | Dialogue with the sparring partner will call Howl a lieutenant, while the cinematic dialogue with Tribune Torga calls him a legionnaire. |
2019-04-16 (18:58) | Livia | Although Livia's birth year is implied by a Shining Blade document to be 1064 AE, this would make her improbably young during the events of Guild Wars. This suggests that Livia was born significantly earlier than the document implies, intentionally or otherwise. |
2018-07-25 (01:51) | Morning
2018-06-23 (20:37) | Vlast | The Book of Vlast by Josso Essher states that "When the Branded came, [Vlast] was the first to throw himself into the fray. |
2018-06-22 (06:50) | Commander Joziah | Though he claims to have guided the Chosen to the Temple of Ascension, this was actually General Mendoza's role. Joziah's role was to guide them to Elona Reach. |
2018-05-28 (04:08) | Mursaat Lore Tablet | The Mursaat Lore Tablets state that ten thousand years ago, the mursaat and the Forgotten assaulted the awakening Zhaitan with an army of Jade Constructs and Enchanted Armors, and that the Forgotten withdrew to the Crystal Desert as a consequence of their failure. However, the timeline in the Guild Wars Manuscripts says that "Serpents [left] the world of men" in 174 AE, which is several millennia later. |
2018-05-25 (19:38) | Canthan Scholar | Although the Canthan Scholar says trade ceased around 200 years ago (roughly 1125 AE), Sea of Sorrows depicts Cobiah Marriner trading with and exploring Kaineng City around 1219 AE, shortly before Zhaitan's rise. |
2017-10-27 (18:14) | Giant | Gray giants were redesigned between Guild Wars Nightfall and Guild Wars 2, removing their tusks and one of their eyes. This is evidenced by (among other things) the differing appearance of Uhiwi the Smoky between the two games. The existence of the Ancient Tusk, however, suggests that canonically gray giants are supposed to have tusks. |
2017-10-13 (02:59) | Forgotten | The Guild Wars Manuscripts says that, "Serpents arrive in Tyria" in 1769 BE. However, Warden Illyra claims that "Forgotten worked with Glint, who hid the old races from the dragons' power" during The Ruined City of Arah. Given that Varra Skylark claims that the Mystic Telescope shows that the Elder Dragons were last awake around ten thousand years ago (which is further corroborated by the Mursaat Lore Tablets, among other sources), it's not clear how both of these things can be true. |
2017-10-13 (01:55) | Bad Blood | * Sieran states that, "The dwarven civilization lasted for more than two thousand years", but the dwarves were present for the last rise of the Elder Dragons, which in the Ruined City of Arah's jotun path, is established by the Mystic Telescope to be around 10,000 years ago (to coincide with the extinction of the Great Giants), as well as for the events of Guild Wars Prophecies, which was around 250 years ago. Additionally The Natural War by Airkas states that, "Jotun and dwarves were the inventors of modern weaponry. Rocks, metals, and trees of the Shiverpeaks became battle equipment in 10,000 BE".
|
2017-07-17 (18:39) | "Scarlet Briar: a Brief" | "Scarlet Briar: a Brief" refers to Scarlet Briar as being born in the "Cycle of Day". However, this does not match any of the four Sylvari cycles; being Dawn, Noon, Dusk and Night. |
2017-03-08 (07:48) | Discourse on a Tome (1075 A.E.) | This book claims to document a Durmand Priory conference in 1075 AE, but the Timeline states that the Durmand Priory wasn't established until 1105 AE. |
2016-09-23 (23:29) | Old Foes, Old Ghosts | During Igneous Breach Rhoban states that the dwarves have been recently maintaining the machines, however the fourth machine encountered during Old Foes, Old Ghosts is sealed behind a door that only mursaat and those disguised as them are allowed to pass through. |
2016-06-23 (21:48) | Brokka | In her historical dialogue, Brokka stated that she was marrying Captain Tokk, and that he owned a farm on the outskirts of Lion's Arch. However, this farm belongs to Tokk, a different male asura. |
2016-04-05 (01:02) | Howl the Brazen | In early mission discussions with NPCs, it is said that Howl's body was never found in the rubble when the crypt collapsed in Fury of the Dead. But in Graveyard Ornaments, the player goes to his grave and find the body missing, the player character saying they saw the body. |
2015-11-11 (11:57) | Exalted Sage | One of the Exalted Sage's dialogues state that "Once [Glint] was gone, [the Forgotten] gathered her most loyal human allies and tested them to see which could be Exalted." However, Glint died in 1320 AE per Edge of Destiny, and the Exalted have been in hibernation for over a century per The Exalted: Pure Dedication and other dialogue. |
2015-10-05 (20:55) | In Consideration of Sacrifice | According to In Consideration of Sacrifice, the White Mantle had the Scepter of Orr when Evennia was a recruit in the Shining Blade. However, in Guild Wars Prophecies, Evennia was the leader of the Shining Blade when the White Mantle obtained the Scepter of Orr. |
2015-09-21 (08:04) | General Almorra Soulkeeper | Crusader Arevir Soulhammer states that "Almorra Soulkeeper was a tribune in the Blood Legion." However on page 97 in Ghosts of Ascalon, Almorra states "I served as a legionnaire in the Blood Legion at the time." Following up with her superiors'—a Centurion—duty. |
2015-06-23 (14:36) | They Went Thataway | Lady Wi says that she cast Lyssa's Veil on Demmi when the latter left Divinity's Reach, and can't again because a day hasn't passed. However, per Stealing Secrets, Demmi had been in Applenook "a few days" prior. Furthermore, she says she can re-cast the illusion on you if it fails. |
2015-06-20 (03:56) | The Dead End: A Study in Scarlet | The first hologram recording talks about events that happened before Scarlet found out of hologram recordings, such as shortly after her awakening (very first entry). |
2015-06-20 (03:54) | Prosperity's Mystery | * Scarlet Briar claims to have sent steam creatures into Brisban Wildlands, however the only steam creatures present there are during Split Second, brought there by the Infinity Ball.
|
2015-06-20 (03:16) | Auwurgh | Auwurgh mentions Destiny's Edge being in the Blazeridge Steppes (specifically Degun Shun) in the past, but mentions only one asura. Edge of Destiny depicts Destiny's Edge when they were united prior to the personal story, but they were never near Degun Shun and there were always two asura (Zojja and Snaff). |
2015-06-11 (17:18) | Minister's Defense | * Ember Doomforge's dialogue of her mother seems to refer to Almorra Soulkeeper, who is revealed in Ghosts of Ascalon to be Ember's grandmother, not her mother.
|
2015-04-30 (03:05) | Crusader Arevir Soulhammer | Crusader Arevir Soulhammer states that Almorra was "Almorra Soulkeeper was a tribune in the Blood Legion." However on page 97 in Ghosts of Ascalon, Almorra states "I served as a legionnaire in the Blood Legion at the time." Following up with her superiors' - a Centurion - duty. |
2015-04-20 (08:59) | Corrupted Ox Spirit | According to A Spirit of Legend, the Spirit of Dolyak is also called Ox. However, the Shrine to Ox in Hoelbrak and Dolyak Totem in Angvar's Trove differ in appearance. (The first is a bull, while the second is a dolyak.) During the Icebrood Saga, Ox resembles a bull. |
2015-02-24 (02:26) | Historian Merry | Historian Merry states that the Jotun's fall from grace may, in addition to the psychological changes, have had an affect to their physical appearance.
|
2015-02-15 (03:06) | Aurielo the Survivor | Aurielo mentions a "tomb of an ancient war leader of Ascalon" that is "up north a ways" from Cornucopian Fields. However, the only tomb in that direction is of Mazdak the Accursed, who hails from Orr and (purportedly) founded Kryta. (ref. Dead of Winter) |
2015-01-15 (05:40) | Azabe Qabar, the Royal Tombs | The tombstones located right outside the entrance to Azabe Qabar are written in New Krytan. This conflicts with Timeline which states "1071 AE: The Sinking of Orr." and Cultural Diffusion in Contemporary Kryta which states "the New Krytan alphabet was born. The year was 1105 AE." - 34 years after Orr sank. |
2014-12-13 (08:52) | Mazdak the Accursed |
