Dialogue[edit]
Welcome to Shing Jea, fellow traveler. I was just about to start my mental exercises...
- Mental exercises...? Oh, you must be a mesmer.
- That I am. At the monastery, we practice a very...precise art. Rather than summoning phantasms, the virtuoso creates manifestations of our daggers to aid us in battle. It takes years of practice.
- Oh? So a virtuoso is a type of mesmer?
- The virtuoso is a master of the blade... The dagger, more specifically. We've learned to concentrate all of our mental magics into our daggers, bringing them forth as unique phantasms to aid us.
- That must have taken years to master.
- It did, but the result was...potent. It takes far less energy to summon forth a phantasmal dagger, making us quicker. More prepared.
- Do these "phantasmal daggers" behave differently than a normal phantasm?
- They stick close to their master, ready to fly and slice through the mesmer's foes at the slightest twitch of their mind.
- I'm curious about something else.
- I've got time. Ask anything you'd like, my friend.
- So a virtuoso is a type of mesmer? (Same as above)
- So you don't summon phantasms? (Same as below)
- Why daggers? (Same as below)
- What are you doing in Shing Jea? (Same as below)
- Never mind. I don't have a question.
- I've got time. Ask anything you'd like, my friend.
- Fascinating. Many thanks!
- Maybe I'll have to take a stab at it.
- Do these "phantasmal daggers" behave differently than a normal phantasm?
- It did, but the result was...potent. It takes far less energy to summon forth a phantasmal dagger, making us quicker. More prepared.
- I just needed the big overview, thanks.
- That must have taken years to master.

- So you don't summon phantasms?
- No, we do not. We find that phantasms are...unpredictable. Difficult to control. Our phantasmal daggers are far more refined.
- How so?
- They don't run about, causing havoc. Focusing on our daggers, summoning them forth to aid us in battle... It's elegant. Refined.
- I'm curious about something else. (Same as above)
- Sounds sharp.
- See you around.
- How so?
- No, we do not. We find that phantasms are...unpredictable. Difficult to control. Our phantasmal daggers are far more refined.
- Why daggers?
- The dagger is quite elegant. Simple. Initially, it was just used in practice for meditation while we were learning to summon forth a weapon in the place of our phantasms. It was...perfect.
- I'm curious about something else. (Same as above)
- You could say you "sharpened your wit."

- What are you doing in Shing Jea?
- I came to Cantha not too long ago. It's tranquil here... Quiet. It reminds me of my home. The Grove. I heard that mesmers practiced a very specific craft at the monasteries. I wanted to see.
- Shing Jea is beautiful.
- That it is. It's not filled with technology and garbage like New Kaineng or Echovald... Shing Jea is perfect for practicing mental magics. It's easy to concentrate.
- Remind me again what makes a virtuoso so special. (Same as "So a virtuoso is a type of mesmer?")
- I'm curious about something else. (Same as above)
- I see. Nice meeting you.
- Enjoy the quiet?
- Shing Jea is beautiful.

- Oh, gods, not another mesmer...

Trivia[edit]
- Daucus is a genus of plant that contains the carrot. It is derived from the Latin word daucum which is itself derived from the Ancient Greek word δαῦκος, meaning "carrot."
- Prior to the release, Daucus was named Singit, potentially being derived from the Central Bikol word singit which means "tree fork."
