Sylvari Recruitment Retrospective

The following notes are part of a formal assessment of the sylvari people as viable recruits for future efforts by Mabon, the current Wizard of Strength.

1303 AE: The tree nurtured by Ventari has borne fruit, so to speak. Out of respect for Isgarren's wishes, I'll keep my distance for now. To think, these new beings are experiencing this world for the first time not just as individuals but as a people. What I would give to know what that's like.

1306 AE: I met a sylvari the other day. My charr disguise frightened Malbi[sic] at first, but she came around after I rescued her from the local krait. She had so many questions for me about the charr and the world, and I did my best to answer. I admit, I felt guilty for the deception.

1316 AE: The alarm wards were triggered just south of the Beacon of Ages a few days back. A lone sylvari had bypassed our magical defenses only to pause in the beacon's shadow. She introduced herself as Narcisse. When asked how she came to be here, we learned of her "Wyld Hunt," calling her to the beacon, and of her visions of threats beyond this world. With her permission, Lyhr and I brought her before the others.

1328 AE: I have been careless. In my efforts to include the sylvari in our ranks, it never occurred to me that behind them was a deeper and sinister intent, unknown, even to their own kind. Many were resilient when Mordremoth's call came, while others had to be restrained, temporarily. It did not take long for the four of us to enhance the magical defenses around the tower and Amnytas and sever the Elder Dragon's influence. Isgarren said little to me in the following days, but his anger was as plain as day. Dagda assured me it would pass.

1333 AE: Dagda took on a sylvari apprentice recently: Ceri. She's brilliant, but she's quick to doubt at times.[sic] especially when the lessons get hard. Zojja's been a good friend to her, often helping her with spell crafting or late-night studies. It has only been thirty or so years, yet I find it difficult to imagine the world and the Astral Ward without them, their perspectives, and their experiences. Perhaps that could be said for many beyond our order. Maybe now, Isgarren might listen to reason.
