Rewards[edit]
Walkthrough[edit]
The instance start point is behind the flaming gate east of Diviner's Reach, where you completed The Sacrifice. Defeat the Forged standing in your way, then go to where your companions are and examine the Forged artifacts. You can even safely turn on the Branded cannon without blowing yourself up.
Talk to your group and move in the indicated direction. Defeat the Branded that appear in the canyon, and a number of purple lights appear. Pick up these crystal essences to hear some of Glint's memories. Move east, collecting more crystal essences, and talk to Rytlock for some lore. Kasmeer and Canach will move to the northeast and southwest corner around the caldera respectively, and point out the location of other crystals. Then get on your mounts and collect the essences on the ledges above you (most will need the springer to reach, some will need the raptor), fighting or evading the Branded that appear. After you've gathered 5 essences, you'll be glowing and will have the Crystal Charge effect; return to Rytlock (or any of the crystals pointed to by the team) to hear more of Glint's memories.
Tour the edge of the caldera counterclockwise to pick up more crystal essences, using your mounts (and glider, if you have it) to get to them. Each time you collect 5 you can go to one of the memory crystals to hear more from Glint. After activating the third crystal, a portal will open at the bottom of the caldera. Enter it.
Now inside Glint's lair, examine the big spear to make a Facet Guardian appear. The guardian will use lots of AoE attacks and has two special mechanics you must overcome.
- At the beginning it will use Crystalline Drain, an enormous AoE attack. To defend against this attack, defeat the Facets of Light that spawn during this time. They will drop bright orbs that you can collect to gain a shield that will protect you from the drain AoE, allowing you to continue to attack the boss.
- From 75% health it will switch to putting a large dark shield on itself, that will reduce damage to almost nothing. Around the edge of the arena will be several Facets of Darkness. Defeat these to get dark orbs which will give you a special action skill: Crystalline Shatter. This skill will stun the boss and disrupt the shield, allowing you to continue damaging it
- From 25% health the boss will use both of these together. Gather both facets of light and darkness. Then go toward the boss without getting hurt, avoiding all the AOE spam. When you get near it, activate the special skill and it will deal major damage to the Guardian. Repeat as necessary.
Once the guardian is defeated, go to the Intact Memory Crystal to hear more from Glint, then destroy the Dragonblood Spear and talk to your friends to complete the mission.
Achievements[edit]
Crystalline Memories | Path of Fire: Act 2 | 1 | 1
---|---|---|
Search for a relic from the past.Journal: Crystalline Memories Completed
|
Completed Crystalline Memories | 1 |
- Complete the instance.
All the Essences | Path of Fire: Act 2 | 2 |
---|---|---|
Collect all the crystal essences outside of Glint's Lair.Story Instance: Crystalline Memories | Collected All Crystal Essences | 2 |
- In addition to the 15 essences required to open Glint's lair, there will be 5 extra essences across the crater. Collect all 20 essences to get this achievement.
- The number of essences remaining can be tracked via Qualify for All the Essences effect.
Dragon's Lair | Path of Fire: Act 2 | 2 |
---|---|---|
Open the way to Glint's Lair within the time limit.Story Instance: Crystalline Memories | Way to Glint's Lair Opened | 2 |
- Open the portal to Glint's Lair within 2.5 minutes. You will need to collect a total of 15 essences—five per crystal—in this time. This may be easier in a group.
- It is ideal to immediately equip the springer after the first memory crystal forms and head to the first set of essences (where Rytlock goes). The essences will appear once he gets into position. Use the raptor or jackal to get from one memory crystal to another fastest.
- Note that you do not need to wait through dialogue after reconstructing a memory crystal—you can just move on to the next.
- Achievement qualification may be tracked via the Qualify for Dragon's Lair effect.
Shields On | Path of Fire: Act 2 | 2 |
---|---|---|
Always protected by Crystal Shield when Facet of Glint casts Crystalline Drain.Story Instance: Crystalline Memories | Defeated Facet of Glint Without Being Drained | 2 |
- The simplest way to complete this achievement is to keep at range from the center of the arena. Do not run into the center if the Facet Guardian approaches you; it will always teleport back to the center to cast Crystalline Drain. You will be forced to run into Crystalline Drain during the final phase of the fight, however, so be sure to pick up a Facet of Light before running in.
- The shield given to you by Facet of Light only lasts about 20 seconds, so aim to pick it up immediately before you plan on running into the AoE.
- The smaller purple AoE crystals remove the shield on hit.

Dialogue[edit]
In Prophet's Fall[edit]
- Upon entering the instance
- Canach: Are we certain this is the place? The "Prophet's Shadow"? It's...less remarkable than I had expected. For a dragon's lair, I mean.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Yeah, I'm certain. Same smells as last time. (sniffs) And Canach needs a bath.
- Canach: (muttering) I need a bath, he says.
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: That's right, you were here with Destiny's Edge...when Snaff and Glint...
- Rytlock Brimstone: Not now.
- Approaching your companions (interrupts the above conversation if it's not finished)
- Rytlock Brimstone: Hey, look who finally showed up.
- Canach: No sign of Kralkatorrik, Commander. It's definitely moved south.
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: And no Branded either—not yet, anyway.
- <Character name>: That's surprising to hear, considering we're surrounded by Brand.
- Canach: The landscape certainly makes an...ominous impression. All the more reason to finish our business here quickly.
- Canach: Well, then: Rytlock, Kasmeer—care to take point? Which way is Glint's lair?
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: Uh...I have no idea.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Neither do I.
- Canach: Come again?
- If completed Hidden Arcana:
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: When the commander, Jory, and I were inside, we got there through a portal. Not the same as walking through the front door.
- If not completed Hidden Arcana:
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: When Jory and I were inside, we got there by way of a portal. Not exactly the same as walking through the front door.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Technically, I'm not even sure there is a front door.
- <Character name>: If there is, we'll find it. Let's get moving.
- During the fight in the Forged camp
- Forged Weaponeer: Balthazar! Witness our devotion!
- Forged Weaponeer: Kill them! For Balthazar!
- Forged Weaponeer: Kill them! They're after the weapon!
- Forged Weaponeer: None shall deny Balthazar's claim!
- Forged Weaponeer: Nothing can stop our work!
- Forged Weaponeer: You dare interfere with our search?
- Forged Soldier: Balthazar! Witness our devotion!
- Forged Soldier: Kill them! For Balthazar!
- Forged Soldier: Kill them! They're after the weapon!
- Forged Soldier: None shall deny Balthazar's claim!
- Forged Soldier: Nothing can stop our work!
- Forged Soldier: You dare interfere with our search?
- After defeating the Forged
- <Character name>: Looks like the Forged got a head start on us. We have to find the weapon before they do—before Balthazar does.
- Canach: I'm not so sure this "weapon" is their only priority. These Forged aren't just hunting parties...
- Canach: By the looks of it, they've been dug in here for some time.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Yeah. Something's definitely up. Let's take a look around and see what we find.
- Approaching Kasmeer at the Cart of Branded Crystal
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: It looks like they're mining Branded crystal. But for what?
- Approaching Rytlock at the Armor Plating
- <Character name>: Some kind of armor... Looks sturdy, too. But what are they using it for?
- Rytlock Brimstone: The Iron Legion would kill for plating like this. And has. Several times over.
- Approaching Canach at the Track Prints
- Canach: Commander. Take a look at these tracks.
- <Character name>: Any idea what made them?
- Canach: Something large, and heavy—you probably already guessed that—but otherwise, no. I've never seen tracks like these.
- Interacting with the Armored Tail Segment
- <Character name>: Is this... Whatever they're building here, it must be enormous.
- Armored Tail Segment: This large mechanical object is made out of metal. It appears to be the tail section of something.
- This looks like it's part of a larger machine.
- Interacting with the Metal Cannon
- Metal Cannon: This heavy apparatus is made of thick, solid metal. It appears to be some sort of cannon.
- Try activating it.
- <Character name>: This thing is...drawing power from Branded crystals. How is that even possible?
- I'll figure this out later.
- Discussing the findings with your group
- Rytlock Brimstone: Find anything?
- Canach: The Forged have been busy. Whatever they're up to, they've rebuilt the area to suit their needs.
- <Character name>: It appears Balthazar's found a way to harness power from Branded crystals. Between that, the plating, and those tracks...
- Canach: It must be some kind of war machine.
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: Maybe it has something to do with the weapon Vlast was talking about.
- <Character name>: It's possible. But we're not getting any answers until we get into Glint's lair.
- When ambushed
- Canach: Watch yourself! Branded!
- After defeating the Branded
- <Character name>: Did anybody else feel that? Something...powerful.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Glint. I can sense her.
- Canach: Impressive trick for a dead dragon. Any competing theories?
- Rytlock Brimstone: Stow it, twig.
- Restoring the first memory crystal
- Glint: These heroes are...not what I expected. Do they have the courage to endure what's coming? The will to drive it back?
- Glint: Tyria's last hope rests on the unity of the races. The pooling of their strength. It is the only way.
- Rytlock Brimstone: That's Glint. She's talking about Destiny's Edge.
- <Character name>: This must be like the memory crystals Vlast left behind. A distillation of Glint's thoughts.
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: You think this will help us get inside Glint's lair?
- <Character name>: I'm not sure, but it's the best lead we've got.
- Beginning the search for memory crystals
- <Character name>: Spread out and see if we can find more crystals.
- Rytlock Brimstone: I think I see a memory crystal over there.
- When Rytlock approaches the northwest crystal
- Rytlock Brimstone waves at <Character name>.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Hey, Commander. I found something.
- When approaching the gap on the ramp near Rytlock
- One of the below
- Rytlock Brimstone: Well, you did go through all that trouble to find a springer-maybe now's the time to use it.
- Rytlock Brimstone: That right there looks like a job for your springer.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Don't think you'll be getting up there on foot. Better mount up, boss.
- Talking with Rytlock
- Rytlock Brimstone: I think I found one of those memory crystals.
- Why is it that the crystals react to you?
- I'm not sure. Maybe whatever's left of Glint recognizes me. We *did* fight Kralkatorrik together.
- I have something else to ask.
- That makes sense.
- What are these memory crystals, anyway?
- Vlast left one behind, too. All I know is that I can feel Glint inside there—her power.
- I have something else to ask.
- Strange.
- Do you think we'll be able to find a way inside Glint's lair?
- Hard to say, considering she's dead. But I could feel Glint's power coming from that memory crystal. It might be enough to open one last portal.
- I have something else to ask.
- Maybe.
- Never mind.
- Restoring the northwest memory crystal
- Glint: I remember only fragments from the days before the Forgotten performed their ritual on me.
- Glint: Though I still feel a connection to Kralkatorrik, it no longer compels my actions. My will is my own.
- Glint: I am free. I see Tyria as I have never seen it before.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Huh... Glint never talked about what it was like before she was cleansed. Must've been a lot to process.
- <Character name>: To say the least.
- Approaching Kasmeer at the northeast memory crystal
- Kasmeer Meade: Commander! I found another crystal. I think we're on the right track.
- Restoring the northeast memory crystal
- Glint: With the aid of the Forgotten, I have come to terms with my freedom. But freedom, I'm finding, comes with a heavy burden.
- Glint: When my mind is drawn to the suffering of Tyria's people...the inescapable doom they face...
- Glint: I feel a sickness in my heart. The first stirrings of compassion.
- Glint: I turn their plight over and over in my mind. The Elder Dragons. The world consumed.
- Glint: I can abide these visions no longer. There must be something I can do.
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: So this is when Glint decided to help the mortal races.
- <Character name>: We were fortunate. Could have just as easily gone the other way.
- Approaching Canach at the southwest memory crystal
- Canach: Got a crystal over here, Commander.
- Restoring the southwest memory crystal
- Glint: Vlast, my child. Your birth begins a new age. A new design.
- Glint: I sense Kralkatorrik stirring in its sleep. Could it know what I'm planning? What you're meant for?
- Glint: Time grows short. I fear what will happen when the Elder Dragon awakens. And I'm sorry you must bear this burden.
- After restoring the memory crystals
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: Hey, look there—a portal's opened. Restoring the crystals must've triggered it—I think we found our way in!
In Glint's Lair[edit]
- After entering the portal
- Canach: Kasmeer, is everything alright?
- If completed Hidden Arcana:
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: Yes, it's just—this is definitely the place the commander, Jory, and I were brought to, but it's...changed.
- If not completed Hidden Arcana:
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: Yes, it's just—this is definitely the place Jory and I were brought to, but it's...changed.
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: The Brand has spread here. (sigh) I wish she was here.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Burn me—this is the spear Glint gave us to kill Kralkatorrik. Fashioned from its own blood.
- Rytlock Brimstone: I had no idea it survived the fight.
- <Character name>: This must be it—the weapon Vlast was talking about. We found it.
- When the Facet of Glint appears
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: Watch out! It's one of Glint's crystal guardians!
- Canach: There's the welcoming committee.
- Rytlock Brimstone: So what's our move, Commander? Do we kill it, or...?
- <Character name>: It's corrupted. Take it down!
- After the first time the Facet of Glint uses Crystalline Drain at 90%
- Rytlock Brimstone: Commander, we're getting chewed up in here!
- Canach: What about using their shields? They won't mind!
- When the Facet of Glint uses its shield
- Rytlock Brimstone: (growl) I'm barely making a dent in this thing!
- Canach: It's the shield! It's too tough!
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: Last time, the lesser elementals were the key.
- <Character name>: Focus on its minions, then! That's how we'll take down the shield!
- After defeating the Facet of Glint
- Canach: Look. The way's clear now.
- Interacting with the last memory crystal
- Glint: Prophecy is not always a gift. Often I see things I wish I hadn't. But when the vision is clouded, I am most uneasy.
- Glint: The heroes have gathered, and Kralkatorrik approaches.
- Glint: I am not yet prepared to face the Elder Dragon—and distressingly, I cannot see beyond the coming battle.
- Glint: Is it because I die? I can't die without finishing my work. I have to stop Kralkatorrik.
- Glint: The Forgotten told me much, but not everything... What did they tell the Six? What do the gods know that I do not?
- Glint: So much is unclear, but I'm out of time. I must keep my faith, and hope that my children will carry on my legacy.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Glint never said anything to Destiny's Edge about a legacy. Only that Kralkatorrik had to be stopped.
- Canach: Stopped, yes, but killed? Do you suppose she knew about the consequences?
- <Character name>: Maybe that's why Vlast sent us here: to destroy the dragonsblood spear.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Bad idea, boss. Glint told us that weapon was made specifically to kill Kralkatorrik.
- Rytlock Brimstone: If we destroy the spear, we'll be powerless to stop it—unless you've got a pile of dragon-slaying gear I don't know about.
- <Character name>: Killing them is no longer an option. Not without a plan to deal with the aftermath.
- <Character name>: Balthazar doesn't care what will happen to Tyria. We can't risk the spear falling into his hands. We have to destroy it.
- Rytlock Brimstone: (growl) Fine. Just so long as I'm on record: this is a bad idea.
- After destroying the Dragonsblood Spear
- Canach: The task is done. Now, let us all imagine Balthazar red-faced and frustrated over his failure to stop us.
- Canach: (sigh) Ah yes, that's lovely.
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: I just hope we made the right decision. I feel lost without the guidance of the gods...
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: Is Rytlock okay?
- Canach: He's brooding. Charr love to brood. I'm sure he's fine.
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: You mind checking in on him, Commander?
- Interacting with Broken Golem
- Broken Golem: The golem is battered and broken down, with one gauntlet missing. Its body has been crystallized.
- This must be what remains of Big Snaff.
- Talking with Rytlock
- <Character name>: This was Snaff's golem, wasn't it?
- Rytlock Brimstone: What's left of it, yeah.
- Rytlock Brimstone: I failed my guildmates, Commander. I failed Glint.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Balthazar wasn't the only one I ran into during my time in the Mists.
- Rytlock Brimstone: I also met Glint. She taught me the ways of the revenant.
- Rytlock Brimstone: I thought she meant for me to finish the job Destiny's Edge started. But here we are, trying to save Kralkatorrik.
- Rytlock Brimstone: That damned dragon is still alive, and Glint, Snaff, and Eir...they're all dead.
- Rytlock Brimstone: (sigh) I need a win, boss. I gotta make this right. Let's take Balthazar down.
- Discussing the next steps with your companions
- Rytlock Brimstone: So the spear's destroyed. Can we go kill that loathsome god now?
- <Character name>: We've stalled Balthazar's plans, but we're no closer to bringing him down. And we'd all like to avoid a repeat of our last encounter.
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: Commander—we're rudderless. We need guidance.
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: I think we should go to the gods and ask them ourselves.
- Canach: Ask them ourselves... You mean go to the Mists?
- Rytlock Brimstone: (snarls) Not sure I like the sound of that.
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: And if Rytlock really did meet Balthazar in the Mists... Maybe there's more to his story than we realized.
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: Maybe the gods really are helping us.
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: I've done everything you've asked of me, Commander. But I...I have questions that need answering.
- <Character name>: So do I. We know we're outclassed from our last meeting with Balthazar. This may be our only way forward...
- <Character name>: All right, Kas—we'll do it your way. But how do we reach the gods?
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: There's a portal to the Mists at the Tomb of Primeval Kings. I think we should start there.
- <Character name>: Then that's where we'll go. Kas is right—it's high time we got some answers.
- Speaking to Rytlock
- Rytlock Brimstone: Portal to the Mists, eh? I've seen enough of that place to last a lifetime.
- Rytlock Brimstone: But...well, it's like I said, Commander. I'm gonna make this right. No way you're going without me.
- Speaking to Canach
- Canach: Portals to other worlds, ghostly dragons, rampaging gods...
- Canach: (deep breath) We lead charmed lives, do we not?
- Speaking to Kasmeer
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: So many prayers unanswered... Do you think they will listen to us?
