Rewards[edit]
Walkthrough[edit]
The initial meeting with Poised Arrow at Forager's Hunt — turns out to be one with Stoic Alder instead, as the boy still needs time to think. Afterwards, speak with Graced by Fire, found in the same camp, to get instructions to head west to the swamp again.
6 spots need to be found, marked with green spyglasses on the map: The First Bloodtree — , The Observation Post — , the eastern edge of Sacrifical Grounds — , Nivermer Rill — , The Lurking Spring — (found through at hole to the northeast at the water level of Scarwood Depths — ), and up on the cliff northeast The Infested Quag — .
Return back to camp to Graced by Fire to report your findings and to get a short bow. Use this special short bow's first skill to sedate an animal and then the second one to study a sedate animal and get some data from it. Sedate and study 9 different animals to complete this objective. Complete the Renown Heart "Assist the kodan in researching the titan blight", found near the Festering Basin Waypoint — to continue.
Dropping the bundle given by Graced by Fire will prevent it from being re-equipped. It is possible to retrieve another from Graced by Fire near Forager's Hunt Waypoint. Relogging after dropping the bundle will also re-equip it without having to ask for a new one from Graced by Fire.
Upon hearing Poised Arrow's update over the comms, after optionally returning back to camp to speak with Graced by Fire one last time, head to Storm Research Camp — to speak with him directly. Ask Arid Esker, found just beside Poky, for some lightning rods and then look for 8 Conductive Mineral Deposits on the beach, just east of Cathedral of the Blessed — , that you can use your Special action skill at to drop rods near to do some lightning tests. Return to Poised Arrow after this is done to finish the mission.

- Simply use Collect Health Data on each of the 9 different targets. Progress is only given after they awaken a few seconds later.
- You can only analyze 9 targets per attempt at the mission, so make sure to avoid duplicate targets and to only analyze a given target once.
- You only need to sedate them, so you can simply not analyze an animal and instead wait for the debuff to expire to get achievement progress without risking the possibility of missing an animal.

Dialogue[edit]
- Approaching Stoic Alder at the camp in Janthir Syntri
- <Character name>: Stoic Alder.
- Stoic Alder: If you're looking for Poised Arrow, he's not here. Your scuffle with the stranger left his mind raw.
- Stoic Alder: I don't know what you endured... I haven't seen him so heavy with angst since Silken Weir left us.
- <Character name>: I can explain.
- Stoic Alder: After the mainland attack, his nerve was turbulent; he said you were left with little choice.
- Stoic Alder: My son survived... Your friends survived. I don't need to mourn what didn't come to fruition.
- If asura
- <Character name>: The creature that killed your kin is dead. And Alchemy, did it stink.
- If charr
- <Character name>: The creature that killed your kin is dead. The smell seared my fur.
- If human
- <Character name>: The creature that killed your kin is dead. Turned my stomach.
- If norn
- <Character name>: The creature that killed your kin is dead. Smelled like the morning after a party.
- If sylvari
- <Character name>: The creature that killed your kin is dead. Wilted my senses.
- Stoic Alder: Another sunset... Did you find Aurora? Poky didn't say.
- <Character name>: She wasn't with the dead. A good sign, but we'll keep looking.
- Stoic Alder: We'll settle camp and assess. Our forebears built sites across the isle. Waystations constructed after the mursaat fell.
- Stoic Alder: Isgarren's warning hasn't escaped me. If a titan lives, we'll find it. You can tell your alliance that.
- Stoic Alder: Wayfinder? My son... Is Poky okay?
- <Character name>: Was that his first fight? Against something of that scale.
- Stoic Alder: Of that scale? No. With distance and time, he'll come back to us with a clear head.
- Stoic Alder: Oh, I think Graced by Fire was looking for you and your allies. Probably wants to thank you.
- Talking to Graced by Fire
- <Character name>: On your feet again, so soon after the attack? Caithe might have something to say about that.
- Graced by Fire: Rest is for a calm soul. If I sit for long, I'll turn into a cub with a gut full of honey.
- Graced by Fire: I also heard the news. You killed it? The stranger?
- If asura
- <Character name>: Yes, it's true. I'm just glad we got Poky out of there in one piece. That beast was...you know.
- If charr or norn
- <Character name>: Yeah. Just glad we got the kid out of there in one piece. Could've gone bad.
- If ???
- <Character name>: Yes, it's true. I'm glad we got Poky out of there in one piece. That beast was horrifying.
- Graced by Fire: If my companions saw what that creature left behind... they'd be mortified. Spent their lives learning this land. Protecting it.
- Graced by Fire: I'm relieved Poky is okay, though.
- <Character name>: Me too. But until we know what's left to fight, may as well find out footing. How can I help you stay seated? You need rest.
- Graced by Fire: If you're offering, I could use a scout. Wilderness abounds; only a few of us have spent any real time on the isle.
- Graced by Fire: With the Astral Ward and bearkin moving inland, your help charting the area would benefit everyone.
- Graced by Fire: I've also observed troubling behaviour among the local wildlife. Frenzied, enraged; creatures that don't usually attack...
- Graced by Fire: But that can be our problem next. Once you're done charting, come back to me.
- Approaching the bloodstone-infused tree
- <Character name>: The bloodstone is morphing with the environment. Can't be good.
- Approaching the swamp overlook
- <Character name>: I'd put a couple copper on Greer being responsible for this. He turned the place into a swamp.
The above voice line plays twice
- Approaching The Lurking Spring
- <Character name>: Serene. Bet this place would be pretty nice if it had a kinder history.
- Approaching Nivermer Rill
- <Character name>: More wilds. Starting to internalise everyone's warnings.
- Approaching the cliff above Sacrificial Grounds
- <Character name>: Fallout from a bloodstone explosion? It looks like this one was controlled, at least. Could've been a lot worse.
- Approaching The Observation Post
- <Character name>: White Mantle. Long gone, by the looks of it. But what were they doing here?
- Once all locations have been visited
- <Character name>: Map's shaping up. I should get back to camp, share what I saw.
- Returning to Graced by Fire
- Graced by Fire: Thanks. With a better understanding of the area, our chances for survival go up. Respect the isle's boundaries, we must.
- Graced by Fire: Couple more things you could do to help around here, if you have breath to spare.
- Graced by Fire: To start, Whispers of Wind is looking into the stranger's blight. Not a bad idea to work with her; see what all she needs.
- Graced by Fire: And for me. Information. I mentioned the wildlife before, and...that has not improved.
- Graced by Fire: I suspect the stranger's influence, but we should confirm. See if there's anything we can do to help them.
- Graced by Fire: I need you to subdue the frenzied creatures and take a blood sample for me. Maybe there's a cure...or we'll know if there's not.
- Graced by Fire: Here, I've got the supplies set up for you.
- When sedating animals, one of
- <Character name>: Right to sleep.
- <Character name>: There we go.
- When taking blood samples, one of
- <Character name>: We'll figure this out, little ones.
- <Character name>: One step closer to answers.
- <Character name> (if asura): Hopefully this data helps.
- Poised Arrow: Malice...? Wayfinder?
- <Character name>: Are you okay? If you need someone to talk to—
- Poised Arrow: It worked! I'm fine. There's another stranger.
- <Character name>: Are you sure? What did you find?
- Poised Arrow: Footprints, cracks in the earth. There's a smell. It's not like the one we fought.
- Poised Arrow: If you head north, we can meet at the research camp.
- <Character name>: I'm on my way. Don't get your paws dirty before I get there.
- Returning to Graced by Fire a final time
- Graced by Fire: Hmm. Curious, these findings are. The animals remain themselves, but they are enraged...inconsolable.
- Graced by Fire: Something about the stranger's aura has twisted their sense of reality. Frenzied, indeed.
- Graced by Fire: I don't know if this is curable; death, a kinder fate. I suppose the more we learn of the strangers... Answers may come then.
- Meeting Malice Swordshadow and Poised Arrow at the Stricken Plains camp
- Poised Arrow: I haven't seen it with my own eyes, but I'm certain of it: there's another one.
- Poised Arrow: A lot of us here have witnessed the same; everyone's moving to collect as much data as they can.
- <Character name>: This is a solid lead, Poky. Let's see how we can help.
- Poised Arrow: We find it, we kill it, and everything will go back to normal.
- Talking to Arid Esker after completing the renown heart
- Welcome back. Looking to buy, are you?
- Do you have any extra lightning rods? I have my own research to conduct.
- Looking to find out more about these strangers, are you? Go ahead, have some. I've got plenty.
- Thanks.
- I misplaced my lightning rods. Can I have some more?
- Keep a closer eye on these ones, hm?
- Will do.
- On placing a Lightning rod, chance for one of:
- <Character name>: Don't want to be too close when the storm starts up...
- <Character name>: That should do it.
- Returning to Poised Arrow
- <Character name>: Everything you described... Footprints, storms. Wildfires sparking at random. This isn't natural.
- Poised Arrow: Right? The Astral Ward are tracking activity along the lightning rods.
- Poised Arrow: They're getting struck with higher frequency near the northern shore.
- <Character name>: Then we should head out immediately. See if we can track this thing down.
- <Character name>: Are you up for another fight? Want to sit this out?
- Poised Arrow: No, I'm coming with you. Focus helps with clarity.
My Story[edit]
|
“
I went to go meet with Poky at one of the temporary research camps—the Astral Ward and lowlanders are moving to the isle to help tackle the titan threat. But when I arrived, I encountered Stoic Alder instead. He said that Poky was distressed and headed north to catch a breath but didn't share many specifics. I assume the kid didn't tell him much, which is probably wise. Alder's worried about his son, and for good reason, but I need to follow Poky's lead and not interfere with their relationship.
While Poky gets some rest, Alder suggested that I help with some of the local titan research. Graced by Fire, who reminds me of myself in her inability to sit still following a bad fight, has already thrown herself into the thick of our investigation. Her scouting party was killed; she feels an obligation to them to keep moving—all things that I can relate to. With Greer dead and our hands temporarily tied, I offered my assistance. The more we can learn about the titan—or titans—the better.
She sent me to map the west. Even if the lowlanders have spent a little time exploring the isles, we're in unfamiliar territory. Dense pockets of forest, wilds, White Mantle ruins, the lasting effects of bloodstone fallout... Whatever happened here was brutal, and the lingering titan presence has only made it more severe.
After getting the lay of the land, I returned to Graced by Fire. For one final task, she had me collect samples from the local wildlife so we could better assess what's turning them and why. Like the journeykin we subdued near the village, the creatures here are violent and frantic. Waiting Sorrow mentioned Mistburn being rampant in the area thanks to Greer, so I think we can assume that's the cause. Maybe there's a cure, but we'll find out if there's not.
***
Just as I finished collecting samples, Poised Arrow came roaring over comms—the kid sure is getting good use out of Malice's gift. While he was reflecting on Waiting Sorrow's reveal, he stumbled upon evidence of a second titan to the north. Cracks in the earth and footprints too large to belong to any animal; he even described a peculiar smell. I told him to hang tight so I could make my way north.
When I met him near the shoreline, the northern research team was already busy tracking down any traces of this supposed second titan. The evidence collected thus far was evocative of a very different beast from Greer; while he thrived in the swamp, this one clung to the stormy coast. I collected some of the kodans' lightning rods at camp and helped set them up along the shoreline, hopeful that we could trace the creature's movements along with the storm. I returned to Poky and confirmed his report: we're on the tail of a second titan. Let's see if we can corner it.
Given the outcome of our fight against the first, we'll be done with this soon.
