Demongrub Pits (jumping puzzle)
Demongrub Pits is a jumping puzzle located in southeastern Queensdale, in the cave system of the same name.
It contains 3 chests: one Grand Chest at the end, and two optional regular Chests. Each is guarded by a different group of foes―one by spiders, one by skelk, and the last by oozes. The chests guarded by spiders and skelk are false ends to the puzzle―the one guarded by oozes, at the real end of the puzzle, grants the achievement.
Getting there[edit]
Starting from Godslost Waypoint — , head east through Orlaf Escarpments, then southeast towards Righteous Hoofmoot — . The cave entrance is in the cliff directly northeast of Righteous Hoofmoot―it will be to your left as you head south. The entrance tunnel is populated by the titular grubs.

First chamberStarting from the entrance, the first large cave is populated by Cave Spiders and Grubs. There is one optional chest, and Kiterin can also be found stranded on a platform here. There is also sometimes a Massive Egg Sac, which drops a Fall Adventure Pouch when destroyed. The paths to reach these optional extras are described below. If you'd just like to complete the jumping puzzle, skip past these sections. Optional chest 1

Having completed or skipped the optional objectives above, it's time to continue to the next chamber. If you're not at the entrance, go back there by following the slope of the room north and then west. From the entrance, follow the south wall around to the east, staying close to it. Go as far as you can without slipping, past a wooden railing and onto a narrow ledge. Jump down and to the south, onto a wider ledge with another broken wooden railing. Run south along the ledge, then jump down and south again, to a ledge marked by some glowing green slime. Clamber up the slope to the south, arriving in a room with some Cave Bats―the second chamber. Second chamberEntering the second chamber, you'll encounter some cave bats, and a wooden platform to the east. To reach the third and final chamber, jump along the rocky pillars from the entrance. Go east and then north a bit, before wrapping around the central column of the room, and then jump across the pillars south to the exit. You'll find yourself in a partially-collapsed tunnel guarded by some Shadow Skelk. The area is marked by a torch next to a big beam, just as Rakkrarrtuk hinted at in his dialogue if you spoke to him. Deal with the skelk and proceed to the southwestern corner of this area, where you'll find a small opening to the next chamber. Proceed through the opening, past a grub and some of its glowing green slime. When you encounter the corpse of a Mercenary, you've arrived at the final chamber. Some oozes may spawn around the corpse to ambush you. Final chamberThe third and final chamber contains a large number of Tiny Oozes and two Veteran Chromatic Oozes. Try to pick them off a few at a time to avoid being overwhelmed. At the back of the room, by a waterfall, is the Grand Chest, which completes the puzzle and grants the related achievement. Exiting the puzzleFrom the Grand Chest, proceed northeast to a slope in the corner of the final chamber. Follow it up and to the south, then jump across some rocky pillars to the southwest, leading up to the waterfall. Continue around the ledge to the northwest, and follow the exit tunnel up and out into the open air. This path leaves you overlooking Righteous Hoofmoot — from the southeast, not far from where you started. SkipYou can also skip to the end of the jumping puzzle if you have a Skyscale and the Bond of Faith mastery unlocked. Go just southeast of Righteous Hoofmoot — until you're on the edge of the Mounts Disabled area. Fly up as high as you can, then use Bond of Faith to launch yourself. Deploy your glider as soon as possible, and glide down to the cliff to the southeast (which is the exit of the jumping puzzle). Using Bond of Vigor on the way up makes the trick easier, but is not required. Once you're on the cliff, walk southeast into the cave until you arrive at a cliff. The final chest is directly below this cliff. |
