Gauntlet of the Khan-Ur is a jumping puzzle within the Khan-Ur's Gauntlet area of Grothmar Valley.
Getting there[edit]
From Dalada Forest Waypoint — , head north-east a short ways until you come to a cavern whose entrance is sometimes marked by either a Hatched Chili Pepper Bush or a Cave Spider.
(In case the harvesting node is not present on your map: Follow the left fork in the road while looking at the nearby cliffside to your left. Within a few more steps, you should see the cave entrance.)
Once inside, be aware of the pit and cross it (if you are using a Springer, jump down and back up). Turn to the right and you will enter another cavern. You will need to climb the ledges to the right (or circumvent them with a Skyscale or Griffon). In the following cave section, there are three torches placed on their respective plateaus: use them as point of orientation. Jump from rim to rim or skip the section with your flying mount. Once you made it across, the gate to the Vault of the Khan-Ur will be in your field of view. Face left and move through the bushes to reach the first brazier of the puzzle.
Walkthrough[edit]
There are four braziers located within the puzzle area. Each brazier (except the last) also has a nearby torch. You'll need to light each successive brazier as you progress through the puzzle in order to access the reward chest. Falling into the water (including treading water) or falling victim to the frogs' water breath attack will extinguish the torch; torches can be re-lit at previously lit braziers. Mounts and Gliders are disabled within the puzzle area.
If you fall in the water and have to retrieve a new torch, you MUST re-light the torch at the previous brazier before continuing or else you will not be able to light the next one.
Pass through the vines to the left from the vault entrance. Take a torch and light it from the brazier, then use first skill to clear the spider webbing to enter the start of the puzzle.
From the staircase on the right side, move to the top of the broken railing at the first landing. Jump to the wooden scaffolding, then to the rope and make your way across it. Leap across the remaining wooden structures and go down the stairs to light the second brazier.
Hop across the lily pads and head towards the large tree ahead. There are two frogs that will breathe water across the lily pads and extinguish your torch. Do not get hit by the water spray. Once you reach the tree, you will need to jump across branches until you reach a makeshift staircase made out of mushrooms. Jumping up the mushrooms will take you to a seeming dead end. Look below and drop onto a new path of lily pads. Follow the trail of lily pads and fallen branches while avoiding the frog spray. Climb up another short staircase of mushrooms and then jump up a series of wooden beams embedded in the tree. (Be careful here, as aim IS important). Go across the rope and either jump down along the mushrooms OR just jump to the first mushroom (next to the tree) and from there, jump across to the tower. From there, climb the ruined tower. Once at the top of the tower, go across another rope and jump up the platforms to the top of the wall. Light the third brazier.
From the lily pad after the third frog, leap to rock pile on the southern shore. Climb the stairs of the ruins to the top. From there, either drop down to the rocks directly below or use Swiftness (such as from your torch) to jump to the platform further away. Head to and pass through the archway just beyond. Walk past the brush, staying to the left. Jump to the rocks on the left, then jump across the water to the rocks at the base of the ruined structure. Jump to the slope on its side, hugging the wall (despite its steep angle, you will not fall off). From there, jump to the partially sunken walkway that has ruined pillars on it. Head to its northern edge. There is a sunken stone platform between you and the stairs below the third brazier. Landing on this sunken platform will not douse your torch's flame. Jumping on this sunken platform will allow you to cross over to ruins below the third brazier. Get to the stairs and climb up to light the third brazier.
Go down the stairs to the right of the brazier. Cross the rope and jump on top of the pillars until you get to the lily pads. After crossing the lily pads be careful not to move through the waterfall. There is a small lily pad to the right that you can land on. Go up one flight of stairs but do not go all the way up to the vista. At the first landing there is a drop off with two more ruined pillars. Jump across them and go into the final section. Locate the tree with the mushrooms growing out of it (next to the rock with the chest on it). Jump up the mushrooms and take a flying leap off the branch towards the chest (use speed boost to be sure). Light the final brazier and open the chest. Alternatively, once you have climbed to the saddle of the mushroomed tree, climb the branch to the right, jump to the cliffside steps, and follow those steps to the tree branch that directly overhangs the final chest. It's then an easy drop down to light the final brazier and then open the chest.
