Trials of the Tengu is a jumping puzzle covering the Jaya Bluffs area of Seitung Province.

Getting there

Head east from  Monastery Waypoint — or Northwest from  Village Waypoint — , then north to the  Shrine of Reverence — .

• The trial is located to the west of the POI. On top of a platform you will find the Tengu NPC called Groundskeeper Tora, take the torch from the fire to start the trial.

• The end point is above Sensali Shrine.
• The path is a series of planks and ropes.
• Using a mount will extinguish the torch.
• Gliding is required for some sections.
• The gliding skill unlocked by the Gliding Booster mastery does not extinguish the torch and trivializes this jumping puzzle.
• Along the route a series of Braziers can be lit. Once lit, you can return to that brazier using a mount. From there you are able to pick up a torch and continue the route.
• All braziers must be lit (in any order) to open the chest and obtain the achievement. There are five braziers in total, including the one at the final chest. The effect  Trials Bonfire Lit shows how many bonfires have been lit.

The Jumping Puzzle involves lighting your torch at the brazier and carrying that flame to multiple other braziers via gliding. Mounting up or equipping a toolkit or pack (like the White Mantle Portal Device), will also put out your flame. Note: Each lit brazier is a new checkpoint. They do not need to be done in order, but it obviously is the fastest way to complete the JP. Mounts can be used to get back to braziers after mistakes are made. Brazier 1: climb the boards just to the side of the initial brazier until you reach a small platform with a jade tech chest. You will see your brazier in the distance. Glide to it. Once lit, you can return there to light your torch again if you fail. Brazier 2: Make sure your torch is lit before you set off. Go up the planks just to the south and jump onto the rock face (just face it directly and there's a slight dip). Continue to follow the path. note: there is a second rope that is very hard to see in the dark. See the gallery below for an example if, like me, you literally cannot see it at first. follow the path up until you see another wood plank with a brazier in the distance. glide to it Brazier 3: Follow the winding planks up the rock outcropping until they end. You can glide straight to brazier four, but I suggest going to three for ease and a quicker route. To do that, fly southward to a wooden platform. Take the planks upwards and continue a bit west until you see another wooden platform. The brazier you need should be visible to you to glide to. Brazier 4: Glide north-ish to the high ground and run up the rocks to the northwest. Four should be visible to you, so it ought to explain itself. Glide to brazier four. Brazier 5: Glide north (or jump, it's not far) and continue running until you get to suspiciously laid planks letting you run up to your left. Run forward up a handful more of wood planks to your last platform. Brazier and treasure: Glide south from the wooden platform, light the brazier, and collect your treasure. The achievement and the mastery point are rewarded upon looting the final chest.
