Dialogue[edit]
- Ahai! If you're looking to cross the bridge, you'll need a raptor. I'd conjure you a path, but mirage magic makes mirrors, not walkways. I wouldn't try to step on them.
- Mirage Magic?
- I'm sorry, I should have realized that you're a newcomer to Elona. You're probably not familiar with mirage magic. If you have any questions about it, just let me know.
- What is mirage magic?
- Mesmers—like myself—have learned to create crystal mirrors and distort our image. It's an effective defense against the dangers of the desert.
- How does it work?
- Sand! The sand in the Crystal Desert has absorbed hundreds of years' worth of magical energy. A single grain has little power, but get enough of them together, and you can make wonders.
- I have another question.
- Who'd have thought sand would be useful?
- I have another question.
- Clever. I'd better get going now.
- Do you always carry around that axe?
- Axes are tools of the trade for a mirage. An axe is much sturdier than a sword but still lighter than a greatsword, so it's ideal for a nomadic lifestyle.
- What other tools do you use?
- I have another question.
- I see. Thanks.
- What makes mirage different from a typical mesmer?
- The core of the mirage discipline is the Mirage Cloak. It's a magical technique to avoid strikes by distorting space, causing an incoming attack to miss.
- Why not just dodge out of the way?
- Well, it mostly amounts to the same thing, but it uses less movement and frees up the arms to cast more spells. Besides, rolling around in the desert just gets sand in your clothes.
- I have another question.
- That's true. See you around.
- I have another question.
- Interesting. See you around.
- Why are you out here?
- I'm an artist. I'd been traveling to collect pigment for my paints when I caught sight of this magnificent view. I wish I had my sketching tools.
- Does this mean your mirage magic help[sic] you make art?
- I wish it did. No, mirages have day jobs like everyone else. We do tend to be nomadic and prefer work that allows us to travel.
- Can you tell me a bit more about mirage magic? (brings back to question panel)
- I'll let you get back to your view.
- Enjoy your journey.
- No questions, thanks.
