The Wizard's Ascent is a far northwestern edge of Maguuma surounded by several small islands in the southeast portion of the Skywatch Archipelago and the first part of the Horn of Maguuma region visited by the Pact Commander. Dominated by an imposing wizard's tower known as the Beacon of Ages, this area serves as a base of operations for the Astral Ward as they research the nearby fractals. In the wake of the Kryptis incursions, the Astral Ward has organized themselves to both defend the fractals' denizens as well as regain access to the Wizard's Tower.

From Beacon of Ages Waypoint, walk directly east and up the stairs. The vista should be directly visible to you. Use your skyscale to fly on a roof of a small tower.

Rift Hunter Warrior: Surprised to see these fellas up here? Us too. Got Kralk to thank for that one.
Rift Hunter Warrior: Tried to keep the "skyscale fiasco" under wraps, but the Dragonfall infestation was far too advanced.
Rift Hunter Warrior: Never mind that, though. Given what we're dealing with here, they're critical for navigation. Try climbing that mess.

Rider Zina: All right, Penelope, you let me trim those claws, so now you get a treat. How does that sound?

Researcher Kyna: I can't believe that the fractals could manifest in Tyria like this. I guess I never considered the possibility.
Researcher Telor: I wonder if even the wizards knew it was possible. Will they keep running experiments after such a big disaster?
Researcher Kyna: I think so. The only reason we're prepared at all for this scenario is because we tested it ahead of time.
Researcher Telor: That's true. I guess it's easy to just focus on the downside in moments like this.
East of the Beacon of Ages Command Center, near the stairs
Novice Rift Hunter Roarke: Be careful what you do today. Galrath is furious.
Astral Ward Apprentice Shoff: You don't have to tell me. I spilled a vial in a hallway earlier and spend the whole morning cleaning.
Novice Rift Hunter Roarke: You spent the whole morning cleaning a tiny spill?
Astral Ward Apprentice Shoff: He made me clean each piece of broken glass! On both sides! And then he threw it all away anyway!
Novice Rift Hunter Roarke: That's... severe. Does make me want to be especially careful with my vials from now on, though.
Near the Monument to the Order
Squad Leader Usey: All right, soldiers! You've spend your time here training, wondering if this day would ever come. Well, now it has.
Squad Leader Usey: The enemy is at the gates. You've seen their ugly faces in your nightmares and seen what they've done to your friends.
Squad Leader Usey: Well, good news! They thought they were coming here to feast, but they're coming here to die! Tyria's no banquet hall!
Squad Leader Usey: We're gonna send every last one of those monsters crying back into that ugly void they came out of!
Squad Leader Usey: How does that sound, soldiers? Do you want to kill some Kryptis?
(Multiple) Rift Hunter Warrior: Sir, yes, sir!
In the Astral Ward Infirmary
Rift Hunter Dalla: Come on, Doc, I'm no good to anyone laid up like this. Sign the release so I can get back to work.
Doctor Meven: I'd love to, Dalla, but if you reinjure that leg right now, you're probably going to lose it entirely
Rift Hunter Dalla: The Kryptis still wouldn't stand a chance against me. It'd keep things sporting.
Doctor Meven: Just get some rest, would you? I promise I will let you go the instant it's safe to do so.
