One of the best parts about an expansion release is getting to use a new weapon and weapon skills from elite specializations. Up until now, you could only equip each elite specialization’s weapon by locking yourself into that elite specialization’s trait line. But what if you could charge into the fray as a hammer-wielding holosmith or control the battlefield as a firebrand with a longbow?

Weaponmaster Training is an account-wide feature that provides access to elite specialization weapons for each profession without having the corresponding elite specialization equipped or trained.[1] It requires that players own the Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure expansion. After unlocking it, characters are granted access to weapons previously restricted to the elite specializations, even if the account doesn't have the respective elite specialization unlocked or own the expansion required to use the elite specialization. The expansions are still required to make use of the elite specializations' trait lines. Beyond requiring at least one level 80 character to unlock the feature via the story, it's not otherwise level-restricted and can be used afterwards on characters below level 80 as well.

Unlocking[edit]

Can be unlocked after completing part of Secrets of the Obscure story or by purchasing the Weaponmaster Training Document from Heroics Notary in World vs World.

The player will receive a letter in the mail from Frode early on in the third chapter of the Secrets of the Obscure story, Mother of Stars. Speak with Frode in the Beacon of Ages Command Center to unlock Weaponmaster Training.

All characters on the account can use elite specialization weapons as soon as the achievement is finished, regardless of method. Both options require the expansion.

As some elite specializations add new weapon skills or modify them, new skills were added so that each specialization could take full use of the newly available weapons.
