Walkthrough[edit]
First you are guided to Rytlock's office, where he explain the situations about your character's father and send you to Human's Lament. There you meet the Mane warband.
The meeting point will be attacked by several waves of Ascalonian ghosts while the warband member try to reach safer ground. You can use the mortars present to help with the fight. After fighting off all enemies all defeated allies will revive automatically and you can proceed to the rally point. There will be the final cinematic.
Be sure to grab Watchcrag Tower Waypoint if you do not already have it after leaving the instance, as the next mission takes place in the same area.

Dialogue[edit]
Blood Tribune Quarters[edit]
Approaching Rytlock Brimstone:
- Rytlock Brimstone: Ah, Legionnaire. Glad you could make it. I've got some news I wanted to deliver to you personally.
Cinematic when talking to Rytlock Brimstone:
- Rytlock: More problems, soldier. Your father, Vallus Smokemane, has gone AWOL. He disobeyed direct orders, stole from the High Legions, and abandoned his warband.
- <Character name>: My father was a loose cannon sometimes, but...betraying the Legions? That doesn't sound like him.
- Rytlock: That may be, but he ran off with a powerful idol his warband was guarding. It has magic linked to the human god Balthazar. If it falls into the wrong hands, it'll complicate our peace talks with the humans.
- Rytlock: Emer Whipmane, your father's legionnaire, has always clashed with him. I can't trust her report, but with you in the field, I can get a more informed opinion. He is your father, after all.
- <Character name>: To be clear, I don't know my father very well, but I'll do what I can, sir.
- Rytlock: Good. Start with the Mane warband in Human's Lament. Pick up Vallus' trail, track him down, and bring him in—alive. Dismissed!
Talking to the NPCs present:
- Rytlock Brimstone: You've got your orders, legionnaire[sic]. I trust you to handle the matter.
- Thank you, Tribune. Sire or no sire, I'll make sure justice is served.
- Yes, sir.
- Laria Sharpeye: You're Vallus Smokemane's cub? Reports say he's a traitor and a thief, wanted for multiple actions against the Black Citadel. I'm glad you didn't follow your sire's path.
- And I'm glad to bring him in to answer for his crime.
- Yours is an unusual situation. Most soldiers don't even see their sires after thery enter the farhar.
- From where I'm standing, that sounds perfect.
- He hasn't been tried yet. My job is to see that he is.
Human's Lament[edit]
Approaching your warband members:
- (Depending on your legion)
- Luccia Wildeye: We'll keep a lid on things here while you're gone.
- Elexus Shredskin: Don't worry. We'll keep your sire safe until you get back.
- Yahuk Fellstrike: We got this, boss. Nothing bad will happen to your sire while we're around.
Speaking to your sparring partner:
- Clawspur: This isn't good. I smell ghosts. A lot of 'em.
- Me too. Let's thin out their numbers and find Emer's warband..
- Dinky: Something tells me this is going to be bad. I don't like to worry; but in these situations, my gut calls the shots. And my gut does like to worry.
- Don't think so much. Just hit things. A lot.
- Euryale: We should burn this whole canyon down to the bare rocks. It'd be an improvement.
- First we find Emer's warband. Let's move.
- Maverick: That Emer's one feisty minx. I think I'm going to do her a favor and ask her out.
- Don't do it. I need you alive to fight the ghosts.
- Reeva: Emer's way too cranky. I hope there are some party animals in her warband to balance her out.
- It would take a lot to balance her out. Look alive. We've got work to do.
When encountering the ghost scout party:
- Ascalonian Scout: Fresh tracks. The charr went this way.
- Ascalonian Scout: We'll make them wish they'ed never come south of the wall
- Ascalonian Scout: First, we report back in. Then we come back in force and wipe them out.
Cinematic when approaching Emer Whipmane:
- <Character name>: Legionnaire Whipmane. Tribune Brimstone dispatched me to assist with your AWOL soldier.
- Emer Whipmane: What, Brimstone thinks we can't handle one lousy traitor by ourselves?
- <Character name>: You've got it wrong. I'm here because Vallus is my father. The tribune believes that makes me likely to have some insight into the situation.
- Emer Whipmane: If that's what the tribune wants. But we need to hurry. My warband's pinned down and the ghosts are massing for an attack.
- <Character name>: On it. My warband will punch through those ghosts like a dagger through silk.
When the fight with the ghosts begins:
- Sudia Strongmane: I need back up! Get 'em off me!
- Rurtha Diremane: There's too many! Set up the mortar and clear us some space!
- Sudia Strongmane: Get them off me first! THEN get the mortar!
- Hasta Sharpmane: We've got to get organized! Fall in! Form up and fight!
Cinematic after regrouping:
- Emer Whipmane: This here is Vallus's cub. Seems Tribune Brimstone thinks he needs to keep an eye on us. Better muzzle yourselves unless you want to end up in a report.
- Hasta Sharpmane: I don't care. I've been in plenty of reports, and you saved our tails with those ghosts, Legionnaire. If I can help, just ask. Name's Hasta Sharpmane.
- <Character name>: Sure. First I need clarification. Any idea why my father took that idol?
- Hasta Sharpmane: Separatists jumped us. They took Sesric hostage and promised they'd spare his life if we gave them the idol.
- Emer Whipmane: And I said no deal! Separatists wouldn't keep him alive for anything, much less a civilized exchange. But Vallus refused to accept that.
- <Character name>: If Vallus believed them and plans to make the deal, where would he do it?
- Hasta Sharpmane: Ask around at Ashford Forum. Vallus liked to go drinking there with his norn buddy Fibharr.
- Emer Whipmane: Ah, thanks Hasta. I forgot about that lowlife! If he knows anything, I'll make sure he talks. See you there, Legionnaire.
Speaking to your sparring partner:
- Clawspur: This warband is a mess. Good soldiers, but no teamwork.
- Maybe bringing Vallus in will help. Let's go.
- Dinky: These poor soldiers were being chewed up like fish in a barrel. I mean, chewed out and spit up...aw, you get get what I mean. I feel bad for them.
- Me too. Maybe finding Vallus will cheer them up. Let's go.
- Euryale: Lead on, boss. If you smell something burning behind you, it means I found the enemy.
- Got it. Stay close. We're going to find Vallus.
- Maverick: Wow. This warband is falling apart. I'm sure glad ours has me to keep everyone together. Nobody'd run out on the wonder that is Maverick.
- Run out on? No. Run over? Maybe. Let's go find Vallus.
- Reeva: Burn me, this warband has had a rough day. Think we can cheer 'em up?
- Maybe. Let's see what finding Vallus does for their mood.
