Walkthrough[edit]
For the first phase of this event, NPCs lure groups of three ghosts toward you and your warband survivor. You are equipped with your Ghostbore Musket which does substantial damage and often stuns ghosts. Many of the squishier ghosts can be taken down in just a few shots of the primary fire. In addition, the AoE stun Ghostbore Powder Blast lasts a substantial amount of time against these ghosts... long enough for the skill to recharge and thus keep a small pack of ghosts stunned almost indefinitely. Note that by default, the musket does not auto-attack, though as with other skills you can use Ctrl+right click to assign an auto-attack.
After three waves of lured ghosts, you voice your desire to test out your weapon further. Proceed into the ruins, eliminating ghosts a few at a time. Around the back of the ruin, you'll run into a group of three veteran ghosts. There are some points in the wall you can jump over to get to the veterans, allowing you to avoid some ghosts at the entrance. Your stun shots are immensely helpful at keeping yourself from being overwhelmed.
In the room where the veteran ghosts came from is a Ghostly Torch, however you must first defeat the Veteran Ascalonian Captain before you can take the Ghostly Torch as it will be uninteractable until then. Do note that this ghost won't be stunned by Seeking Shot, making your other stun, Ghostbore Powder Blast, more valuable in letting you kill the captain uninterrupted.

Dialogue[edit]
Talking to sparring partner:
- Clawspur: Give 'em hell, boss.
- Consider it given.
- Dinky: I don't understand—the ghosts are already dead, but the musket will kill them more? They'll be even deader?
- They won't come back as often. It's the first step toward getting rid of them permanently.
- Euryale: I don't trust Craze. Who's to say he won't bring those ghosts up here and turn 'em loose on us? And what kind of name is Craze? I'll be keeping an eye or two on him...
- I appreciate your caution, but Luccia vouched for him. I say we give it a try.
- Maverick: I sure hope this works. I'm running out of creative ways to kill the same ghosts over and over.
- Hopefully, this thing'll get you out of your dull, boring killing routine.
- Reeva: I hate to admit, but I'm almost nervous. That's a pretty big wad of ghosts. But I trust you, and if you trust your musket...
- Just stay close. I'll back you up.
Talking to tribunes:
- Rytlock Brimstone: Just pretend I'm not here, maker. Talk to Craze, and get this test started.
- On my way, Tribune.
- Tribune Bhuer Goreblade: I hope you're not getting stagefright, Legionnaire <Character name>. A tribune's time is valuable. Let's get this test on the road.
- Yes, Tribune.
- Tribune Torga Desertgrave: I've heard good things about you, Legionnaire. Let's see what you can do.
- Excuse me, ma'am, but I don't recognize you. What's your name and rank?
- Tribune Torga Desertgrave, commanding officer of the Ash Legion assigned to Ascalon. Good to meet you.
- Nice to meet you, too, boss.
- On my way.
Cinematic with to Craze Steelgrinder:
- Craze Steelgrinder: So, you're Luccia's friend? I hear you brought a new weapon to test.
- Craze Steelgrinder: You've got all three tribunes behind you watching like hawks, so this'd better be good. What've you got?
- <Character name>: It's called the Ghostbore musket, soldier. What kind of test do you have planned?
- Craze Steelgrinder: Luccia said it was a ghost-killer. I can't wait to see it in action. My warband's down in the ruins, ready to flush out ghosts on my signal.
- Craze Steelgrinder: We'll lure waves of ghosts into the kill-zone—that ravine right there— then you can open fire.
- <Character name>: That sounds solid. Let me get in position, and then we'll do some ghost-hunting.
After the cinematic:
- Craze Steelgrinder: Keep that Ghostbore musket ready. I've signaled my warband and they're on the way.
Talking to your allies during the first test:
- Craze Steelgrinder: Can't tell you how eager me and my warband are to witness this test.
- I've got high hopes for this weapon. So does my legion. Let's get to work.
- Tribune Torga Desertgrave: Not bad, but you need to keep your head in the game. Focus!
- Right!
- Rytlock Brimstone: Exceptional weapons test, soldier. Get back to killing those ghosts!
- Right away.
- Tribune Bhuer Goreblade: Looks to be operating well within expected parameters. Keep it up!
- Will do, sir!
At the start of each wave:
- Craze Steelgrinder: There's Wrak—with a bunch of ghosts on his tail!
- Wrak Bonegrinder: Gangway! Ghost train coming through!
- Craze Steelgrinder: Here comes Rote. And she's bringing friends!
- Rote Grindstone: Heads up! Here I come, and I'm bringing company!
- Craze Steelgrinder: Timbre's coming in!
- Timbre Eargrind: Look alive! I've got ghosts on my tail! Waa-hoooo!
Cinematic after ghosts are defeated:
- (First line dependent on sparring partner)
- Dinky: Wow! Those ghosts disappeared faster than a Meatoberfest ham!
- Euryale: Impressive workmanship, boss. Almost as good as magic.
- Maverick: Outstanding! Finally a weapon worth naming after me!
- Reeva: Ha! Did you see those ghosts explode? Sparkly!
- <Character name>: The musket performed better than I expected...but let's see how it does in a less controlled combat situation.
- Craze Steelgrinder: That's easy. Push farther into the ruins, and you'll have all the uncontrolled combat you need.
- <Character name>: Perfect. We'll fight our way in deep and grab a trophy to prove the ghosts couldn't stop us. That should impress the tribune.
Talking to sparring partner:
- Clawspur: Nice work. The tribune's going to like these results.
- The brass can be unpredictable. Let's check in before we celebrate.
- Dinky: Best. Game. Ever. Let's do it again!
- Not today, Dinky, but maybe some other time. I've got to report to the tribune.
- Euryale: Turned out better than I'd hoped. These ghosts didn't even know what hit them.
- You're not going soft, are you? Come on, let's go tell Goreblade.
- Maverick: Mother of the first cub, that pistol packs a mighty wallop. Sure you don't wanna call it the "Maverick Mauler?"
- Or maybe something without the word "Maverick" in it.
- Reeva: Amazing! Absolutely incredible! I'm so proud of you. Tribune Goreblade has got to like these results.
- I hope so, but let's hold the celebration. The honchos can be unpredictable.
Talking to Grind warband and tribunes:
- Craze Steelgrinder: By the Khan-Ur's severed claw. That was amazing!
- Are you and your warband staying here or coming with me into the ruins?
- Staying. Tribune Brimstone's orders. This test is about your weapon, so go out there and make it shine!
- Thanks for your help, Craze.
- And I still have both paws attached. A successful weapon test by any measure.
- Timbre Eargrind: Go get 'em! We'll wait here and root you on.
- For the glory of Iron Legion!
- Wrak Bonegrinder: I've never seen a weapon like that. Very impressive.
- For the glory of Iron Legion!
- Rytlock Brimstone: Get a move on, Legionnaire. They aren't going to just line up pretty for you to shoot 'em. You've got to head in.
- What about Craze and his warband? Are they just going to wait here?
- That's their job. They herd the ghosts toward you, and you unleash the weapon. Now stop stalling, and get in there.
- And you, sir? Are you content to just sit there and watch?
- For now, yes. Nothing personal, Legionnaire. I may trust your fighting, but I haven't seen your inventions yet.
- C'mon-think of the glory!
- Take your grinning mug and get out of my face. Good luck, maker.
- You'll be sorry you missed it, sir!
- You're out of line, soldier. I'm staying here to observe. Now move out!
- Apologies, sir. Right away.
Come on, are you afraid of ghosts? Get in the fight!
- Well, when you put it like that...fine. I'll come with you. Heh, it'll be fun.
- That's the spirit, sir!
Think about it this way: if you're at my side, you can help me attune the weapon for real time combat scenarios.
- Well, when you put it like that...fine. I'll come with you. Heh, it'll be fun.
- That's the spirit, sir!
Sir, I would be honored to have your company on my first field test.
- You'll be missed, sir.
- Understood, Tribune.
- How about you, sir? No interest in coming with us?
- For now, yes. Nothing personal, Legionnaire. I may trust your fighting, but I haven't seen your inventions yet.
- C'mon-think of the glory! (Same as above)
- Come on, are you afraid of ghosts? Get in the fight! (Brute) (Same as above)
- Think about it this way: if you're at my side, you can help me attune the weapon for real time combat scenarios. (Same as above)
- Sir, I would be honored to have your company on my first field test. (Same as above)
- You'll be missed, sir.
- Yes, sir. Prepare to be amazed.
- Tribune Bhuer Goreblade: Did I hear right? You're going to head straight in? You're that confident?
- I am, sir. We'll cut a nice little path of ectoplasm right through the middle of them.
- Excellent. I'll see you on the other side of the ruins.
- We'll be there.
- That's one for the chow hall. Get going, you reprobate.
- Understood, sir!
Don't worry about us, sir. They'll be nothing but blue flame before you can say Brimstone's Battle Buddies.
- Yes, sir. Just watch this!
- Tribune Torga Desertgrave: Very impressive. Combine your technology with Ash Legion's cunning, and we could do some real damage.
- Iron brings innovation; Ash brings information. Based on this test, I'd be very interested in a joint project.
- I'll keep that in mind, ma'am. My tribune will know more.
Thank you, boss. Ash is a valuable ally, and I'd be proud to work with your troops. (Militant)
- Thank you, Tribune. I'm glad you're impressed.
If Rytlock accompanies you (charm or dignity options above):
- Rytlock Brimstone: Ears up, soldier. The ghosts can hit us from any direction at any time!
- Rytlock Brimstone: Ha, ha! I'm glad I came along. This is just like Barradin's tomb, but with better detonations!
- Yes, indeed.
Upon reaching the Ghost Torch and defeating the Veteran Ascalonian Captain:
- Clawspur: A ghost torch? Nice. Goreblade will love that.
- Dinky: Aww...now I want a ghost torch, too! I'd hang it over my bunk and name it "Ol' Blue."
- Euryale: That ghost torch should be all the proof we need. Ready to move out on your order.
- Maverick: A ghost torch? Outstanding. I look great in blue light.
- Reeva: Sorry, ghosts, we're taking your torch! Don't trip in the dark, now!
Interacting with the Ghost Torch:
- Ghost Torch: The torch flickers with a ghostly flame.
- Take the torch.
After taking the Ghost Torch:
- Clawspur: Wow. That was fast. And kind of funny.
- Dinky: Ha! Did you see those ghosts pop? Outstanding!
- Euryale: They barely even have time to scream. Nice.
- Maverick: The new weapon's a winner, boss. When do I get one?
- Reeva: Sorry, ghosts, we're taking your torch! Don't trip in the dark, now!
- Reeva: Hit 'em again, boss! I love it!
Cinematic with Goreblade:
- <Character name>: Reporting, Tribune... er, Tribunes. My prototype tested well against the ghosts. It's ready for the next challenge.
- Tribune Bhuer Goreblade: You've done exceptional work, Legionnaire. Iron Legion is mighty proud. You'll get a commendation for this, I promise you.
- Rytlock Brimstone: A commendation and a roll-out. Blood Legion's already got ideas how to put your upgrade to use.
- Tribune Torga Desertgrave: Hold on, Brimstone. Ash needs that weapon more than your bruisers.
- Tribune Bhuer Goreblade: Ha! Too bad it's not your decision. Iron built the weapon, so Iron will make the choice. Legionnaire?
- <Character name>: I'd need to see what Blood and Ash have in mind before I decide anything.
- Tribune Bhuer Goreblade: You heard the legionnaire. Demonstrate how you would use the Ghostbore weapon, so my designer can evaluate and choose.
- Tribune Bhuer Goreblade: Meet us at Exterminatus HQ, and bring your ordnance...and your best manners.
Talking to tribunes:
- Rytlock Brimstone: No contest. Blood Legion's cannon is ready and waiting to be modified. Imagine taking out a whole ghost platoon in one shot. Our cannon will wipe their Ash turrets.
- That sounds good, but I'll need to see both options before I decide.
- Tribune Bhuer Goreblade: I have to say, this looks very promising. You've got both Ash and Blood Legions lining up to adopt your weapon technology. If it works—
- It works. And I look forward to showing you just what she'll do.
- Tribune Torga Desertgrave: I'm not worried. You strike me as a smart soldier. Once you see our turrets modified with your weapon, the only thing left to do will be giving Blood the bad news.
- Excuse me, boss. Do you have any idea how the Flame Legion found out about my project?
- I have my suspicions. Flame's always had sympathizers in the Black Citadel. We root them out as fast as we can, but it's a full-time job.
- Good to know. Thank you, Tribune. I'll watch my back.
- Sounds impressive, but my orders are to test both options.
