Hi
Hello Incarnazeus, I saw that you uploaded those guild armor images the other day, much appreciated since we're missing those. Also thanks for adding the {{armor gallery image}} template to those images. -Chieftain Alex 15:59, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
- You're welcome, I'm glad I could help! Incarnazeus talk 16:10, March 1, 2015 (UTC)
Question
Hey there, I was wondering how you make these nice clothing tonic pictures. I don't necessarily want to unload a huge workload on you, but if you want to make more pictures I can lend you all the other clothing tonics (exept for the arenanet t-shirt). Tyndel (talk) 16:10, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- -Hey there! First off: thank you very much! Secondly: You know what? I'd LOVE you for that. I already filed some buy orders for the cheapest tonics, but the prices for the other ones are a bit too costly for my wallet... I'd be really happy if you could lend them to me!
- As for how I made the images; I took screenshots of my characters in .bmp format and proceeded to render them in Gimp while also making sure lighting and size match their front and back parts. Slapped the renders onto a white background and uploaded them. I do not have to necessarily take the screenshots myself as long as they're in .bmp and taken in a good (day light) environment though. Inc (talk) 16:28, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- I can lend you the Endless Dragon Emblem Clothing Tonic. —Dr Ishmael 16:34, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- I currently am on a laptop so good quality images from me are impossible right now. I had made pictures of human male and female at my pc, but they are still smaller than your pictures, so I prefer to give them to you. I'll be online for the next hour so you can whisper me then if you want. Name of my main is on my userpage. Or leave a mail if you can't be online.
@Dr ishmael isn't that account bound? Tyndel (talk) 16:39, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

- Derp. I suppose I could take screenshots, at least. —Dr Ishmael 16:58, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
That'd be also very nice (and would help me a lot)! I'd need the screenshots in .bmp format, with post-processing off, and the characters preferably facing towards the camera so that the shadow is exactly behind the body; perfect screenshot locations are either Bad Lands (EoTM, close to the spawn facing the pipes of the keep) or Lion's Arch (Postern Ward waypoint, near the crates facing the Southsun Asura Gate). Inc (talk) 17:10, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
I would also like to compliment you on your edits, and I'm excited to hear that you used Gimp to make them! Could you perhaps give some more details on the editing process, i.e. what tools do you use? I'd like to have a go at it myself. Flakkenmarsh (talk) 21:26, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Flakkenmarsh, thank you very much! Retrospectively, I'm not that happy with my clothing tonic renders as they could be much better quality-wise if I had used the camera functions back then. For the sake of consistency and my sanity though, going back and redoing them is out of the question though. (I'm traumatised by Charr shoe laces... and there are still 54 place holders left to render.) Luckily those are just clothing tonics, thus the quality right now is sufficient enough.
- To answer your actual question, I use the Paths Tool to render, Dodge/Burn and to fix some slight errors (like the pupil of my asura here: File:Endless Cherry Blossom Clothing Tonic asura female front.jpg) and to darken images where necessary, the Healing Tool to fix and/or retouch backgrounds, layers of white (with the opacity set to 20%-50%) to fix dark images, and the Eraser Tool with a brush selected and alternating transparency settings to render particle effects. Further, I use Antialias and Drop Shadow on the Clothing Tonic renders. If there are images with one solid background colour, Colour to Alpha is a quick way to remove it (though most of the time the part you want to render ends up being a bit transparent then, though this can be fixed by duplicating it and filling the selected area with the removed colour). That's it pretty much. A render takes usually up to 10 minutes depending on resolution and amount of detail, though I tend to take longer as I often distract myself. Generally, I use Gimp for rendering and editing and Paint.net to crop simple screenshots (saves time as Gimp takes a few minutes to boot up).
- Hope this helps a bit! Let me know if you need me to elaborate a bit further on some parts. talk 11:21, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
Item (armor+recipe) ID numbers
Hello Incarnazeus,
I've seen you add many of the ID in some of the armor/recipe posts. Could I bother you to show/tell me how you go about getting these numbers? I've had some luck through gw2spidy but this has not been consistent for me.
- http://gw2wbot.darthmaim.de/smiley/gw2itemsearch.html is the site I'd recommend for getting item IDs, otherwise you could try http://db.dulfy.net/items
- On a somewhat related note, Incarnazeus has been adding the wrong recipe id to the {{recipe}} on at least one page ><. Please be careful :p
- Example - the item id is correct ("75269"), but "77119" is the ID of the recipe sheet (Recipe: Svaard's Wand), not the recipe itself. The recipe ID can be retrieved using an url like this, showing a recipe id of "10845" -Chieftain Alex 00:36, 27 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Darqam I see that your question has been answered, Darqam, so I cannot really add anything - I am using the first database personally.
- @Chieftain Alex Ah, I am sorry for adding the wrong id, that might have happened on a few other pages as well, I will correct whatever errors might remain. Thank you for notifying me and I am really sorry! talk 11:52, 27 December 2015 (UTC)
- I think I've found and fixed the pages affected by checking pages with recipe IDs over 12000 (last recipe listed in api is ID #11755. No worries :p -Chieftain Alex 13:57, 27 December 2015 (UTC)
thanks!
thanks for fixing that typo'd image name! C: how do you do that? or is that an admin thing? BlauRascon (talk) 21:33, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- You're more than welcome! And no, this isn't an admin thing - you can do it, too! I simply moved the page to a new target name. See the "move" button on the top of the page next to "history"? That's where you need to go, type in the new name of the destination, add a reason, and you're good to go (and the page as well). talk 10:03, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
- That is awesome. :O Thanks again! BlauRascon (talk) 14:11, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
Suggesting a screenshot location in LA
You've done some very nice high res screens of items. I think you could get a cleaner background though so you have better contrast. I found spot in LA where the diving goggles used to be, all the way up, to be really nice with the correct direction for lighting during day and giving you mostly sky as background. It's a little bit of mountain goating to get up there but I think it's worth it if you want to give it a try. -Seylan 118.209.105.54 14:28, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for the suggestion, Seylan! I'll check this spot out later. I was wondering where you took the lovely screenshots of Bough of Melandru - so this was where, I presume. :) talk 15:09, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
Dread Quiver Backpack
Hi Incarnazeus. Since I can't seem to find an ID for the container version of the Dread Quiver Backpack, I was wondering if you were sure that the item comes from a container, rather than just being an instant purchase from the Gem Store. I know that most (if not all) back item come inside a container when first purchased, which is why the lack of information on the container is odd. —Ventriloquist 12:54, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
- I think she created the bundles ArenaNet uses nowadays as containers because we don't have a template for it. (See difference between Butterfly Wings Backpack (package) and Bat Wings Glider Combo)
- We also would have to use a screenshot of the gemstore image, not ideal. Tyndel (talk) 13:23, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
- @ Ventriloquist: I created a container page as the in game Gem Store sells the quiver as a rare bundle containing the backpiece and straps - the reason I listed it as container was that I simply followed suit, using the Replica Job-o-Tron Backpack as an example. I apologise if this was not correct.
- @ Tyndel: Yes, I did - it appeared as the most plausible decision to go with containers. Although I admit I did not even think of doing anything else. talk 14:40, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
- Ah, that makes sense! I guess we shouldn't use an infobox for those pages, since it's technically not an item which has an ID or other defining features. —Ventriloquist
- All right, if you leave me an example somewhere, I will correct all affected pages. Would the same apply to the appearance bundles (such as the Bandit Sniper Appearance Pack) as well? talk 14:54, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
- I used Tyndel's butterfly package page as an example for the Dread Quiver page. Yes, judging from this video, all of the contents are mailed to the player, which is the main difference between a "package" and a "container". —Ventriloquist 15:00, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
- This juggling with words is simply fascinating - from a linguistic perspective. Thank you for the example, I will see what I can do. talk 15:09, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

Kamohoali'i Kotaki III: Carcharias zone column
Problem? I thought it was remotely useful considering the amount of travel I was doing when most of them were in the same zone. -Chieftain Alex 11:21, 21 January 2016 (UTC)
- I agree, it's just that having this on only one collection page seems wrong. So I think we'd need it either on all pages or not at all. To be honest, I find it looks a bit aesthetically unpleasing to the eye (but that's just me). To be able to sort the tables would be really awesome though (not only per location but alphabetically), would it be possible to have that just without displaying the location names as third row? This is all sorcery to me. Apologies if this came off negatively, that was not my intention, I just thought it was something we could talk about in the plenum. talk 11:29, 21 January 2016 (UTC)
- No offense taken (I expect my contributions to be edited mercilessly ;) ).
- If we passed the zone as an input to collection table row (say with a parameter called "sortkey") + added
data-sort-value={{{sortkey}}}
for one of the columns, then we could sort based on it, but without creating a third column, we'd end up sorting either the description or the item name by the location, which will be unexpected to readers. -Chieftain Alex 11:46, 21 January 2016 (UTC)- I see. That means it's not a good option. Well, I think it would be a wiser decision then to add the zone columns to all collection pages rather than remove the one we have right now. Such a function is certainly helpful, after all. talk 12:13, 21 January 2016 (UTC)
Tagging redirects for deletion
Hi Incarnazeus. When tagging redirect files for deletion, make sure to stick the delete tag above the redirect part so I don't get redirected to the good file when deleting. Thanks for the tags, too! —Ventriloquist
- Will do! I only added the deletion template to the bottom of the images I moved to avoid having the redirected image in my face. Apologies! talk 10:03, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
- No worries, Alex taught me the same thing. :P —Ventriloquist 10:08, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
Thank you.
Hey there Incarnazeus! I want to thank you for your continuous efforts to improve this place, both in the image and the info department. Your contributions are greatly appreciated. —Ventriloquist 19:14, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Ventriloquist, thank you very much! I gladly sacrifice my transmutation charges for the greater good. Hell, I'll even hunt for elusive rich Orichalcum nodes. Seriously though, this place and its inhabitants have somewhat grown on me, you are all an awesome lot. Plus it's fun to contribute.
- May I use this opportunity to thank you as well? I respect and admire you watching over this place, both as a sentinel patrolling these premises and as a one-man clean-up party (I realise you do far more than this, but that's pretty much the first thing that comes to mind when seeing your name come up in RC). May your item backlog steadily decrease. talk 19:43, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- Your editing of the gem store items has set a terrible precedent: Rather than logging into the game to see what is on sale, I now look for your edits. Consequently, my credit card is one step further away from being used for impulse shopping, and while I thank you for this, Anet is losing out on some money!
- You may be making some powerful enemies, but I'm quite appreciative. Woe be the day in March when you don't edit those pages... <-- Maybe that's the terrible precedent ; ) G R E E N E R 17:33, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- I live to please! And to save someone else's money, apparently. Seriously though, you are more than welcome. It is my dream to become bigger, better, and faster... well actually only faster and perhaps more efficient in the item and time management. Thank you for your nice comment! Alas, I must go now. The new hair colours are waiting for me. talk 17:45, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
Legendary Weapon collections, other general documentation of HoT stuff
Hi Incarnazeus, it's been a while since I've worked on the Legendary Weapon Collections. I'm wondering how they're going and if there's been much interest in further work on them. I had a general list of things I'd have like to have done on them... But I'd like your thoughts on the matter as well as those from anyone else who is interested. For me personally, at least I'd like to see the hints on all the collections finished but progress in that department has been slow.
Aside from Legendary Collections, one thing I noticed about work on the Wiki in general since HoT is that while initially it progressed very fast and there have been a lot of dedicated contributors, everything's been done ad-hoc and at individual user discretion. There has been some efforts at coordinated teamwork between individual users but what struck me the most was the community portal being completely neglected since HoT. A lot of things have been worked on by dedicated and interested users which is awesome. Other areas could use more fleshing out. One of those areas where I have noticed progress being slow is on documenting HoT events. This is a very big project that involves a lot of work which would be made much easier through collaboration. I'm not sure what other's thoughts are about this so Im just putting mine here and opening this for discussion :) Seylan (talk) 00:25, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
- Hi there Seylan. While I'm not Incarnazeus, I can perhaps shed some light on the points you've made.
- I believe all tiers of the legendary weapon collection articles have been made. Several of the "less popular" legendaries still have missing hints, but I'm sure it will get updated eventually. I'm working on some collections myself, so I'll add missing hints if no one beats me to it.
- Community projects! Projects are efforts made by willing contributors that are focused on a certain part of the wiki that requires further expansion or organization - in your case - HoT events. While many players are playing in HoT maps, not a lot of them are documenting them, which, as you have witnessed, creates a handful of red links and missing information. In those cases, a community collaboration (or as the wiki fancily puts it, "project") gets the job done.
- We've had a lot of success with projects in the past (the armor gallery project, the Living World updates projects to name a few) so I'm optimistic that a productive collaboration between willing editors could achieve such a goal. At the end of the day, I'm always up for eliminating some red links. —Ventriloquist 01:08, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Seylan, there's sadly not much to report concerning the progress of the legendary collections. During your absence one collection (namely The Minstrel III: The Bard was completed (and the Kudzu II: The Perfected Longbow collection needs a check-up as I reconstructed the hints using the German wiki article). Edit: Make that two, The Flameseeker Prophecies II: The Perfected Shield is, thanks to Ventriloquist, complete as well. At this point it'd be an exaggeration to say that we're progressing slowly... However, a few acquisition methods of collection items were added (we're still missing, roughly guessed, 65%), the interwikis are mostly present and Greener corrected and adapted the acquisition method of all Mossi related trophy pages as far as I've seen. The majority of the points you listed on your userpage still needs to be looked into though.
- I'd definitely like to see the hints completed before the next batch of legendaries gets released (in order to be able to focus on these then), thus we probably have still a few weeks left to work on them. Unless today's patch exceeds my expectations...
- Concerning the missing hints, I can think of the following solutions to skip the waiting game and speed up this whole ordeal:
- 1.) Ask the community to help out (specifically Reddit, the official forums are... somewhat lacking), furthermore, ask for feedback (What would a regular wiki user want to see? Which additional features should there be? What can be improved?).
- 2.) Try to get into contact with Mr. Pennebaker (either through the forums, reddit or through bothering support) to gain access to a list (or more) of the hints we are missing. This way we would not have to depend on "random" individuals. This is more or less wishful thinking though.
- 3.) Ask for assistance in game (to fill in the blanks of collections where only a handful hints are remaining).
- Regarding possible additional features, judging from the recurrent voices on Reddit, we should have a cost summary on each collection page (I think I saw a nice table with such somewhere in Alex's empire of sand). Furthermore, I'd like some more opinions (and a decision) on the matter of being able to sort the collection tables by location.
- About your other concern, I think there has been a bit of progress on documenting HoT related events in the last few days (Darqam did create some pages if I'm not mistaken). I'm not quite aware of the general HoT event status though.
- If you want to start up a project involving events or whatever else HoT-related that is currently missing, the least I could do to help is document dialogue or contribute images. talk 16:09, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
- My name was mentioned so I'm here (heh, I wish I was that magical). More seriously I am dropping by to offer my help in anything that might be needed for these two, be it legendary or map events. One thing I think I am willing to do on my end (and was thinking of making a subject on reddit for this soon) was to simply ask for screenshots of events throughout the new HoT maps showing the event details and maybe even dialogue. If anyone who reads this wants to help by just taking a screenshot and giving me an uploaded link, I'll take it. With regards to legendaries, I am certain, as Incarnazeus said, that asking the community for information (maybe through screenshots to make their lives easier) would quickly complete the missing hints and information.
- I know that feeling, although for me it's more like being unable to do anything (curse you, collection hints, I can't even tell which hints are real and which are the abominations of some overzealous yet ignorant individual's mind or whether text errors/bugs were fixed or not).
- Be our Reddit emissary, Darqam! Just don't post anything on patch day or off prime time. I have a feeling that decreases its efficiency. I'll offer moral support. talk 16:34, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
- Edit conflict!
- I did have screencraps of a lot of the events, however due to other commitments haven't had time to go through them. Personally, when adding the events, I'd prioritise the actual objectives over dialogue as I'm guessing this is what people are most interested in as well as where in a chain they are and where the event is. The transcribing of dialogue and actual guide-writing (as clear and concise as possible while still being professional) rather than copy-paste jobs are the most time consuming tasks I find. I've been adding the events to the HoT zone pages as red-links (and still missing some). I haven't gotten around to DS yet as I rather detest the map so I've been avoiding the place. I do the events by first going through the API and getting all the events for a map from the map ID. However, due to my lack of programming skills, this has involved copy pasting into Word and using the find function for the map ID and copying the events out. Obviously this isn't very fun or efficient but it gives me the event names which I can copy and paste onto the pages in the order the chains occur. There are still formatting inconsistencies... Anyway I'll stop rambling about this here.
- On another tangent, I wish more people would take up the raid pages. Due to other commitments I won't be able to raid and add to those pages as much as I have. There is still a lot missing, especially R.E. enemy information (effects, abilities etc). Boss guides - while it's nice to have wiki-specific guides, I personally don't like expending effort to duplicate the work already on external guides just because they're external when they're already very good.
- I do agree, event information is much more important than dialogue, I just happen to record both at the same time while I run the events, so it isn't more work on my end while IG; but definitely more work putting it on the wiki.
- I can try to work on the raid pages (after all raiding is about all I do in GW2 now), but I shy away from writing strategies as those seem to vary from group to group... maybe just a very generic guide? Maybe I could work on that.
- Also, I ignore that it is patch day and went ahead with the query for help on reddit here: [1]. Since nothing huge is happening this patch I figured it would not be an issue. With a bit of luck we will get a few screenshots within a couple hours.
- With regards to the events, it is absolutely great to at the very least just have the name and order of events. The next step I find is to at least get the minor objectives and type of events done (usually infobox+minor description). If you happen to have more screenshots than you can handle I'd gladly take some off your hands as my time in game to just explore events has been drastically cut as of late. -Darqam (talk) 17:36, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
- What a dramatic title, I like it. :P Going good so far, I'll quickly update our list. talk 18:44, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
- So I went to add in something for Basic Mithril Pistol Requisition and was wondering why HOPE II: Development wasn't listed on the side. So I went to Hope's page and saw Basic Pistol Requisition and I'm wondering if there was a mistake, as Bifrost and Nevermore have the same Basic Elder Staff Requisition, not to mention, both of the requisition items ask for exactly the same thing. Is Anet just being inconsistent or is there a mistake somewhere here on our part? - Doodleplex 22:59, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
- Butting in for a comment. I think the issue lies with Nevermore, not HOPE. Looking through the API you can find Basic Pistol Requisition, Basic Staff Requisition, and Basic Axe Requisition, but no other weapons, all the others are of the form basic mithril pistol, etc... So I think the mithril/elder descriptive applies only to gen1 precursors, and the generic statement applies to gen2. We would of course need a confirmation, but thought I'd help point in the right direction. -Darqam (talk) 23:15, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
(Reset indent) We are being inconsistent. To rephrase Darqam's findings, there are two different kinds of requisitions (Generation 1 Basic Elder Staff Requisition versus Generation 2 Basic Staff Requisition) using the same kind of weapon components (i.e. Basic Elder Staves). On another note, these basic weapon component pages should not list a link to a recipe page (see Recipe: Basic Mithril Pistol) as there are no such recipes as "items" in game per se. talk 15:12, 4 March 2016 (UTC)

"ANET_Stephane: Hi /u/Da_Anh thanks for stepping up with this project! It's a great way to get more editors and/or contributors. I'm actually working behind the scenes on various to get information that's difficult to get in the game to the wiki editors. Once you've made some good progress with this project, let me know if there are specific things you're looking for and I'll probably be able to put you in touch with someone who can help :)
Edit: forgot to mention that I love Wiki Projects, they're a great example of the dedication of wiki editors!" From Darqam's wonderful thread
Wow, this has been very positive and promising.
I'll mention what I've found incredibly helpful. Chieftain Alex made a Widget to display collection items from the API including name and ID which greatly sped up making the collection pages once the later Legendary Weapon collections were added to the API. Previously I'd copied out the IDs and pasted them into an infobox of a random page in the ID section to get the ingame links and then typed out the names... Not very efficient :p. I'd find any tools which parses the API data in a way that's much easier to read and use for page creation incredibly useful. Seylan (talk) 02:57, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
- Not related to this, but I went ahead and protected your status page Incarnazeus, due to the several vandal edits made recently. I'll remove it once it sees less traffic. —Ventriloquist 12:48, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
- You put an end to the pastime of some morally and mentally misguided beings, how mean. What should they do now -- go outside and play?
- Seriously though, thank you, it is much appreciated. talk 14:12, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
- Sure thing! If you'd like me to remove the protection before the expiration date (for mobile editing perhaps), feel free to shout. —Ventriloquist 14:23, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
- To expand on Stephane's reddit comment, the "behind the scenes" stuff is an email sent out to a few members of each of the wikis (en, de, es, fr) + we asked him (last week) to go ahead with his proposed idea - we're just waiting for him to have the time to implement it. It should hopefully help us gather stuff like achievement hints, map rewards... (basically most things that aren't drop or salvage rates). -Chieftain Alex 14:59, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Screenshot cropping
I personally don't like cropping so close to the edge for item screenshots, to me it just seems a bit off. Leaving a bit of space at the edges that's the same a the background makes it easier to see where the edges. Seylan (talk) 15:52, 23 March 2016 (UTC)
- For me it's the opposite, I prefer close cropping to reduce the amount of irrelevant backgrounds, including bits of the character showing. Helps with putting things in focus in my opinion. I'll try to meet you in the middle though. talk 16:08, 23 March 2016 (UTC)
Cake
Just checking - it's not your birthday is it? -Chieftain Alex 16:09, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
- Nope, it's not. The cake (a carrot cake to be precise) is for Easter. :P talk 16:11, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
Photo shoot
I think someday you should pull a mass of people with an abundance of transmutation charges/weapons/armors, bring them to your picture spot and just go wild. You seem to enjoy taking pretty weapon pictures so much :D-Darqam (talk) 17:46, 29 March 2016 (UTC)
- But then I'd have to talk to people. And work with people. And you know, people. I already dread having to ask for help with the Dragon Emblem Shirt Tonic... talk 17:54, 29 March 2016 (UTC)
- Oh right... people... Curses be upon the peoples.:D Well, regardless I'll try and remember when I have some downtime to get those weapon screenshots that I'm suppose to update. Also, do you happen to have a list somewhere of things needing better screenshots? Or are you simply looking at what you have and seeing if the wiki has a good pic? -Darqam (talk) 18:17, 29 March 2016 (UTC)
- Mostly the latter. I only have a handwritten list that I work off (both in game and on the wiki). We lack mostly Plated | Machined | Chak | Raid | Singular | Black Lion weapons currently. I'm currently slowly progressing with Chak, Machined, and Plated weapons (so damn grindy...). talk 18:38, 29 March 2016 (UTC)
Gwen's Attire flavor text
About that, if you don't see the flavor text anywhere feel free to remove it. That string of words appeared at the same time as the attire and was formatted similarly to flavor text (but not exactly). Just in case I left it as comments but that might not have been the right place for that at all. Before I keep rambling I'll cut it short and say, if the flavor text ain't there, delete the comment; it was just there in case it happen to fit. -Darqam (talk) 16:17, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
- Maybe it'll turn up on the actual consumable item, let's wait for the id. Anyhow, I'll move that bit to Notes otherwise. Stuff like that is nice to have after all! talk 16:19, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
Stalking Game is Strong
Heya,
I've been making quite a few mistakes, and missing information today. Seems you've caught just about everything I seemed to screw up. Good friendly stalking of all the changes you do! Keep it up and many thanks :D. -Darqam (talk) 19:29, 19 April 2016 (UTC)
- No need to thank me for that, I'm just skimming through RC at the moment while trying to finish reading the patch notes (so long, so god damn long but the changes are so good)... bet I missed a lot of stuff, too. This quarterly update info backlog thingy is worse than any anime backlog, I swear. I'll have so much on reddit to read, too. And I need to get up early tomorrow, the dilemma! Anyway... I notice I'm rambling once again. You're quick on your feet, too, good work on all the icons and the other stuff! talk 19:38, 19 April 2016 (UTC)
- Yeah, i can't play for the next week or so due to PC issues (RIP my fun), so I'm living via proxy through reddit and the API websites. I don't think I would normally throw up that many icons, but dulfy database is amazing to look over new content. I saw the massive size of patch notes and noped right out, guess I'll just discover the changes in due time. -Darqam (talk) 19:43, 19 April 2016 (UTC)
- Aw, that must be annoying. Hope you'll be able to fix it up soon enough (else try brute force and show your displeasure by throwing it out of the window -- which won't help much but at least you're able to make a statement and get to feel superior satisfaction). talk 19:48, 19 April 2016 (UTC)
Graphics and ugly words
Since I don't see a better place to post this, would the choice of "Effects" over "Graphics" be a good choice? This would also allow to put sound effects in the same section; and it seems like all "graphics" subsection are effects anyway. If the term "Effects" is too close to in-game nomenclature, maybe "Weapon Effects", or worst case "Visual Effects". -Darqam (talk) 16:24, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
- "Effects" sounds great! I've no idea when and how exactly this header term emerged, I just remember that it was there someday. I've no objections against using your suggestion -- but perhaps it'd be proper manners to collect some more opinions to avoid slighting people. If they have opinions that is... Y'know how it is. talk 16:33, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
- Or... you know... be a rebel and see what happens :D? I do agree that it's best to discuss this, especially if this is implemented, it would need to be changed on many other pages for consistency. Unfortunately, people sometimes say nothing until you implement something and they are forced to voice their opinion. Maybe this would be better off on the page's talk page though? -Darqam (talk) 16:36, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
- I'd have to check who has been working on legendary weapons in general to decide whether being a rebel would be interesting (or exhausting). :P I'd say this belongs on the Legendary weapon talk page. talk 16:52, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
"I want an m-dash button on my keyboard. :("
But... you do. Try hitting alt+0151 (numbers on the number pad). If you want the en-dash, then it's alt+0150 (— vs –). -Darqam (talk) 18:09, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
- But my numlock activates my mouse keys... :( talk 18:34, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
- I did, but nothing happens. :| *switches mouse keys back on* talk 18:58, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
- huh... were you making sure that num lock was in fact activated and using the left alt key? Also, might be different if you are on a mac (do those even have num pads?).
(Reset indent) Yeah, I did. Still nothing happened anywhere. I'm not on a mac either (ew). — OoOOoooooOOOooohh. An m-dash ;_; I maked it.
- Apparently it works on my laptop keyboard but not on the external one I'm always using. Thus, I think I'll stick to two n-dashes. That or copy-pasting an m-dash...
- Also, I need the mouse keys for opening loot bags in game. I don't want to lose another mouse to a double-clicking issue (though my current mouse had some issues a few weeks back but it normalised somehow... the warranty runs out in a month <.<). Anyway, cool, learned something new. If only the keyboard wasn't that far away. Thank you, Darqam! talk 19:12, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
- See I got around the problem of remembering symbol shortcuts by inserting my frequently pasted symbols after the copyright message beside the save button.

Win 10
About that, I haven't heard too many cases of win 10 screwing with GW2, and the ones that have, usually running GW2 in Win 7 compatibility have fixed it.
You might want to make a driver check though; 'upgrading' to windows 10 does some really screwy things with drivers for some oddball reason. -Darqam (talk) 19:02, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- Oh joy. Thanks for the heads-up. Gonna check stuff in a second... I already had to deactivate so much windows spyware and app trash (hopefully I got rid of everything one could get rid of)... I will switch back to Win7 if this isn't working out. Friend of mine was already laughing at me. :( talk 19:06, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
One more gem store update
I moved another item onto the current list, just to keep you updated. G R E E N E R 08:08, 17 June 2016 (UTC)

I have been helped immensely by the work that you personally have done on this wiki. Thank you. I only wish that you used more edit summaries. -- Dashface 20:13, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
- I wish the wiki had a page with a table dedicated to the availability of Gem Store items. Words could not summarise my approval. talk 11:57, 30 June 2016 (UTC)
Funny angle
...was because I had a hard time shooting the whole thing by myself. ;_; That was all heh. - Doodleplex 16:08, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
- Oh, I see. I couldn't quite re-enact the scene so I am not sure what exactly the issue was, but I'd recommend to try to focus on a point on the horizon that is just above the head of your character (and tilt your camera accordingly) to capture all parts of a weapon easily. I assume that you had the Vertical Position sliders (Near at 5 or 10 due to the staff size) both at zero. Hope that makes sense... somehow. talk 16:36, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
- Ahh I had no idea there were Vertical Sliders, most of my settings are still on default, other than sound lol, so that info actually helps a lot, thanks! - Doodleplex 16:58, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
- Really? Oh hell, that explains the need for such an angle. Must have been annoying to take images like this. You got pretty close enough to the weapons though — even without the sliders! talk 19:38, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
Yggdrasil
Not sure how I missed it, but I just want to say I'm really impressed by your work on the Yggdrasil screenshots. Like you said, they show the immense work the artist(s) put into the weapon, and I'm really glad you made the effort to show the details. Fantastic job. —Ventriloquist 21:16, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you! Considering you cannot really appreciate the staff in all its glory under normal circumstances in game, it only felt proper to honour the efforts of the creators in such a way. I still haven't been able to name all the animals carved into the wood though... talk 14:30, 26 July 2016 (UTC)
Hail ye Gemstore Meister
So, question for your all knowingness gemstore person. Four new items appeared in the API (and dat) but have not been spotted in game. Do you know anything about a "blacksmith outfit"?
The lines: "This 4 piece outfit (shirt, pants, boots, gloved) is as rugged and dependable as your local blacksmith! Town clothes cannot be worn in combat." and "Get crafting in this fashionable outfit". appeared in the dat.
The api entries are pants, gloves, shirt, boots.
Now usually I would count this as something not in yet, but the api doesn't tend to 'see the future' with items... so then is this an old outfit remade? If it's a future one; well I guess you've got a heads up... -Darqam (talk) 22:48, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
- Ah, I've seen these as well. I fear it's nothing new though (since it mentions 'Town clothes'), just another case of old things showing up all of a sudden (PvP weapon skins say 'hello'). It looks like a scrapped town's clothing project ('scrapped' as in it never ended up in the store; I think you can see it in game worn by various repairers and blacksmiths, such as [2], File:Blacksmith.jpg, File:Amanda.jpg etc.). Doubt we'll see it remade as an actual outfit though. It most likely would not really sell (unless they'd make it more interesting by adding a costume brawl toy to render it similar to the Cook's Outfit). They'd make more profit with selling these paper bag helmets or the school uniform outfit or swim suits — but that is not going to happen. Basically, they missed the time to release the Blacksmith's outfit, and now it'd be too late (adding it now would not fit in thematically and in comparison with the amount of details other outfits sport, it'd seem more like a rip-off). talk 09:10, 28 July 2016 (UTC)
- I second this notion. But hey, at least this outfit made it into the game... somehow... probably. talk 17:51, 28 July 2016 (UTC)
Outfit Asking
So I was thinking the other day how to get a hold of some of the outfits to get nice large pictures for the wiki, and I had a thought: Why not ask Reddit users if any of them have the outfits and then we can take pictures of them as needed? I'd be willing to bet people wouldn't mind, the community is usually very friendly when it comes to helping. - Doodleplex 16:55, 28 July 2016 (UTC)
- Back when the german wiki project was a thing, a few volunteers had access to the test server with all of the skins already unlocked in the wardrobe. IIRC, the project consisted mainly of two people, one who would pose and take screenshots of the weapon/armor, and the other person who would remove the backgrounds in Photoshop or whatever program they used. I don't think it'd hurt if we asked Stephane if it's still be possible to revive the project somehow, at least to relieve Inc of buying her outfits or wasting trans. charges. Worth a shot, imo. —Ventriloquist 17:02, 28 July 2016 (UTC)
- Works for me, I'd love to do the photoshoping part if we can do that. =) - Doodleplex 17:10, 28 July 2016 (UTC)
- Asking reddit for help is always such a double-edged sword... 'sides it'd be hell to organise and schedule this (who's available when, with which race/sex/outfit; how many volunteers end up showing up in the end etc.). Aside from this, the lighting for armour is pretty shoddy in LA since there are two light sources as far as I know.
- I already thought about requesting access to a test server account but that ended up on my special mental list...
- @Ventriloquist Ha, alone the thought of buying outfits sends shivers down my spine. I'm not an altruist to begin with... but I have my limits. Transmutation Charges are cool though, I accumulate these rather quickly (though I already burned half-way through my initial excess-dye-wardrobe-courtesy buffer). talk 17:51, 28 July 2016 (UTC)
- In that case, I can send Stephane a mail if you're willing to continue the armor legacy. As far as I know, he hasn't made any sort of comment about the project being cut; the users simply didn't have enough time to finish the project, which I understand. —Ventriloquist 17:57, 28 July 2016 (UTC)
- Alternatively, I own every outfit and can be contact in-game as the character "Delsea". I'm online every day, so if our timezones match up, send me a whisper and I'll do some modelling. (I also have pretty much every armor skin, if that helps.) -- Dashface 19:22, 28 July 2016 (UTC)
- I don't think such a project could be possibly "finished" in that sense... but that aside. I'm not opposed to continuing this "legacy". Right now, however, I don't think it's necessary to set the ball rolling; I imagine August will be an even busier month for ArenaNet and bothering Stéphane about this seems a bit inappropriate. Aside from this, I still have a few armour sets prepared which will keep me busy for quite a while. I just took a short break since constantly rendering static images gets a bit dull. Rendering action shots is fun once in a while.
- @Dashface Thank you very much for the offer but I'll have to politely decline. It'd mean more work and coordination in the long run (and my preferred screenshot location for armours couldn't be utilised). Besides... if I remember correctly (cue: GW2Timer account auditing tool), you don't cover all required races/sexes/armour classes... talk 14:32, 29 July 2016 (UTC)
- I do have all race/gender combos, and armor weight doesn't matter to outfits. For armors, I could just rotate some new characters through an empty slot. If you had a look at my API key for the ten minutes I had it up, I salute your fast fingers! The offer remains for any other aspiring photographer in the present or future. -- Dashface 16:34, 29 July 2016 (UTC)
(Reset indent) I don't think it would it hurt to at least have Dashface here fill in the gaps for some of the outfits (currently we seem to missing some male norn outfits) that we're missing, if anything perhaps get a better image than the preview(for example the Wedding Attire could really use it)at least until you get the really pretty versions up? - Doodleplex 16:58, 29 July 2016 (UTC)
- You are free to do whatever you like. You might as well jump off a cliff — your call; I am not going to stop you. If you are keen on having placeholder images, you could always take the outfit images off of Dulfy's page. Might be morally questionable (not for me), but it'd be certainly efficient, particularly time-wise. The image quality is, albeit mediocre, okay. talk 09:54, 30 July 2016 (UTC)
Why are you not here!?
WHY!? WHY ARE YOU NOT HERE! The gem store page(s) are a scary place and I don't like editing them. Please come back and do that work for us! We miss you for other reasons too I'm sure.-Darqam (talk) 21:57, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Why I wasn't here? That is because I took a 59-days-long break from actively editing the wiki. A break as nonsensical and arbitrary as Mora's suspension. Although I have to admit that I couldn't even have done anything even if I wanted to — I simply lacked the time.
- Spent the first month being disappointed with the wiki community as a whole since the affair was handled pretty insufficiently in my eyes. It cannot be that people are being favoured over others, let alone treated differently. Further, that no one sees it necessary to speak up for another is despicable. Instead people either choose to simply watch or side up against a single individual. I hate it when solemn figures are being cornered by a group of people. You do not gang up on someone who stands alone. It's wrong and shameful.
- Furthermore, I dislike the notion of catering to and preferring new people. How long is a person considered 'new' in any case? Why should a new person not be equally punished as someone who has been around for a while; you can be new and still display a disagreeable behaviour and/or have a horrendous personality. Being old or new should not make a difference in passing judgement. Holding old wrongs against a seasoned individual and using these wrongs as guideline for possible future convictions seems rather odd. After all, people, times, and matters change.
- Driving away veterans can only be harmful in the long run. No new individuals can make up for the experience and knowledge lost &dmash; at least not immediately (in which case these replacements can no longer be considered new either way). Not one, not ten. Cut away all of the regulars and you'll end up with a dysfunctional empty shell. Every single one here is important.
- What irks me the most is the overall lack of transparency. Nothing that concerns the wiki and its contributors should be handled off the platform — allowing one person to take a stance off-wiki and forcing the other to respond on the wiki is rather unfair.
- Lastly, bans are useless. No conflict is ever going to be resolved by banning a person who fell out of line. Bans only nurture animosity. Actively seeking a conversation, mind you a transparent one, between both involved parties to talk about their wrongs is a much more desirable attempt at solving conflicts. Similarly, verdicts should be a community-driven achievement and a public process. We are supposed to be a community after all.
- This has been on my mind for almost two months, thus I am surely forgetting a few aspects I desired to address.
- To return to my initial thought concerning my break; the second month I was and still am angry and frustrated with myself. A dear friend aided me in reminding me once again of what a horrible monster I am. I keep doing the same stupid mistakes over and over again and every time I notice I am doing wrong, going back is no longer an option. Thus I go forward — and instead of solving these issues I keep running away when things get worse, just to try to escape these suffocating feelings. You'd think after all these years I've learned my lesson, but no such thing. I'm constantly experiencing the same cases, albeit with different persons and slightly different circumstances. In addition, knowing the outcome of certain scenarios does not grant me any kind of advantage. Ironically, the reactions, however, are always the same. It's hilarious in a depressing way. In my attempt to avoid hurting others I do just the opposite. ...Silence rights no wrongs.
- Enough of this soliloquy. It's incoherent and incomplete, made more sense in my head, and I'll regret writing this down in a moment's time. Well, whatever. I'm tired. Baring my mind's my punishment. talk 20:08, 30 September 2016 (UTC)

Patrolling "!" and others
Heya, I noticed you recently got the extended editor thinga-majig; congrats! Also, if those exclamation points and extra few options are as annoying to you as they were to me, go into User:Incarnazeus/common.css, and add the lines:
/** Removing patrolled markers and option to mark as patrolled when viewing edit differences **/ .unpatrolled, .patrollink { visibility: hidden; }
Just a quick and dirty way of hiding the new, useless (due to no one using them) new details. If you like them, by all means keep them there though. -Darqam (talk) 02:37, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you, Darqam! Nifty that you can hide these, but I think I'll leave them alone and learn to live with them. Adapting is one of my few strong suits, after all.
- Probably not going to use the patrol feature though... It has a Stasi-like feel about it that leaves me with mixed feelings and... yeah... *coughs* talk 08:47, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
- Yeah I was talking to... Tanetris I think about the feature. Seems like no one uses it so I figured I'd just pretend it didn't exist :p. I could see it be super useful if the wiki were much bigger and/or we had less present admins/mods, but that isn't the case *shrug*. -Darqam (talk) 17:05, 8 October 2016 (UTC)

- Well, now I'm confused. Judging by edits like this, you're obviously Vent in disguise, stalking my edits and cleaning up after me. Yet you converse so freely with yourself about coming back...

Story Mails
Heya,
If you ever come across more missing mentor mails, you can ping them my way. The tool that_shaman developed to look at the strings in the Dat file (Gixxcel) happens to have all possible story mails in there (with the exception of the subject line for some reason). So if I can spot other mails, I can find the missing ones simply due to how close in content they always are.
p.s: Seems like I've started many subjects on your page... I swear I do actual work and not just spam talk pages...-Darqam (talk) 16:28, 24 October 2016 (UTC)
- Wow nice! That saves so much time grinding through the personal story. How about On Red Alert? (uses same mails as Suspicious Activity / Forearmed Is Forewarned, so the same ones are missing from all 3) -Chieftain Alex 17:05, 24 October 2016 (UTC)
- for reference, continuing convo here: User_talk:Chieftain_Alex#Continuing_from_Story_Mails since this might tie more into personal story project led by Chieftain Alex. -Darqam (talk) 17:41, 24 October 2016 (UTC)
future gem store "packages"
Hey,
So it seems like there is a new thing coming to the gem store, and these will be called "packages". For now only one can be previewed in game, Swashbuckler's Package with the chat code [&AgFaNwEA]. Now the interesting thing with this, is it seems to behave like an outfit (you can right click+preview) yet it doesn't fill the outfit slow of the preview screen (maybe just a bug?). The thing though is that these packages will more than likely not include any item you already own, so in this case if you owned the pirate Peg-Leg Boots Skin you wouldn't get it from this package (theoretically).
So due to this, I think we (and by we I mean you and/or other people) will need to be creative in making the wiki reflect this new type of item. Now of course I could be wrong and this could just be a completely different thing; but if I'm not I thought I'd give you a heads up so you can start maybe thinking of something (because I sure as hell can't). -Darqam 17:16, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
- Extra note, I got someone who had unlocked the hat and hook skin to preview the item, they saw all three items on the preview. So the price would be reduced, but the items would remain. I guess this 'package' is kind of an outfit that merges previous skins together. -Darqam 17:28, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
- Ugh, kill me, please. I wish they'd start sticking to certain concepts, instead of happily scrapping and introducing new ones all the time.
- Judging from what you've said and what I've seen, it might be that they are finally introducing style bundles as actual container items (the description on Swashbuckler's Package mirrors the descriptions of the non-container bundles, albeit without the list of items included); thus pages would be handled like style bundle pages with a item infobox (what I incorrectly did with earlier bundles).
- If you click on a style bundle in the Gem Store interface, you are able to preview the style-items. Might be something to keep in mind.
- "The thing though is that these packages will more than likely not include any item you already own" — this is particularly interesting; is this an assumption or a fact?
- In any case; thank you for the heads-up! talk 17:35, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
- The thing is with current bundles, they aren't treated as in-game items (i.e they have no item ids, and can't be linked via chat-codes). So just going by that, these packages are something new; however they might resemble the previous style-bundles as you said; just that these ones would recycle existing skins...
- The "The thing though is that these packages will more than likely not include any item you already own" quote is guess work on my end, however given that anet has been very frequent in discounting bundles if a player already has one or more items in said bundle, I assumed it was a safe guess.
- Also, I played around with outfit codes, and it seems these don't appear (yet?) as outfits, so I'm more and more certain they don't share the same mechanics as outfits; but who knows. -Darqam 17:49, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
(Reset indent) I know that style bundles aren't in-game items; that's why we have no infobox on these pages. Aside from this, it wouldn't be the first time we had style bundles that "recycled" (better bundled) existing skins; see Shadow of the Dragon Value Pack. If I recall correctly, when you clicked that bundle, you previewed all three skin components on your character at the same time (just like what the package preview code does right now). talk 18:03, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
- Hum ok, so the it seems like this might be the same 'technology' used previously, only this time distributed via an in-game item instead. Shouldn't be too complicated then... I hope. -Darqam 18:34, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
The RC
Sees the RC rather full.
- Thinks: Huh, someone's been busy.
Sees the gift category being added.
- Thinks: Oh, nice touch.
Sees the containers and skins sorted out and standardized.
- Thinks: Dear god, finally!
Very much appreciated!! G R E E N E R 21:54, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
- Apologies for the spam! I considered switching back to minor edits while I was working on adding the category, but... let's be honest here, who hides minor edits? Couldn't leave the armour sets alone either, might as well save someone else the trouble of dealing with them. So, all good (hopefully). Now all that's left is replacing the category with a proper parameter. That's another story though... talk 15:34, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

- Hi! Suppose I'm fine, thank you. How about you? talk 16:08, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
- Well, what can I say? 'How are you' is pretty simple to answer... 'how goes' on the other hand... I mean how does anything go? And where, and why. And what's it to me?
- Hm, how can I atone for the simplicity of my reply? With a flower for the sir? Or perhaps a squirrel? talk 16:41, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
- Ooh, ooh, show some of your origami work you mentioned before! I'm super curious. Or if Felix wants something else... —Ventriloquist 16:45, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

- Thank you very much! :>
- Origami's pretty easy actually, you should certainly give it a try! Any thin paper works as long as you cut it down to 15x15cm or similar sizes. And that's a shuriken by the way! I wouldn't throw one though, particularly at people, since they are pretty pointy. talk 21:13, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

The Bot Thing I mentioned...
Remember how I said checking out a bot might be helpful? Here's a way how: a bot can do what you're doing now, adding that template too allll of the outfit/armor pictures really fast and quick, but it does it without showing up on the recent change log(normally). I'd do it for you, but I don't have a bot tag yet, so if you want, you can leave a request for somebody who does have a bot tag to do so for you by asking here: Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Bots. =) - Doodleplex 17:46, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
- Yeah, I know I could do that, but where's the fun in that? Doing such things manually is quite relaxing, actually. I'm done for now, too. That aside, using a bot for only a handful of categorisations and similar tasks is a bit weird. For larger runs I'd request a bot, but for this it'd take longer to catch someone to have their bot run through these than if I do it myself in a few minutes. talk 17:52, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
- True, waiting for somebody who has a bot can be a bit, so if I ever get the tag, feel free to hit me up as I'm normally around to get it done quick-ish. (Also that red squirrel picture above is adorrrable!) - Doodleplex 17:56, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
- Sure, will do, thanks for the offer! (Indeed, isn't it? I love these little ones. I wish I could pet one, but they're pretty shy. Communicating with them is fun though, they even reply if I mimic their clicking noises.) talk 18:01, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
Mini screenshots
Hello, I can do the reshoots for most minis. The previous ones from 2014 are pretty bad, I had reshade on, busy background and no FoV slider yet. I currently take the screenshots in the courtyard of caudecus manor, do you suggest a better location for me? Tyndel (talk) 16:40, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Tyndel, that'd be terrific! Doodleplex and I can cover the remaining ones (if there are any).
- As for locations... ideally, I think the background should be rather neutral colour-wise, thus a brighter/whiter floor texture might be desirable. My go-to-place would be the Eye of the North, since you'll have no lighting problems and the floor has a better quality texture-wise than any other place, but most miniatures clip into the ground.
- I just checked out a few more locations, but except for the Queen's Throne Room, none are better than your current location. The Throne Room offers, similarly as the EotN, good lighting (from above as far as I could see, you'd still have to resort to the highlight by hovering over the miniature for the perfect light though). The floor textures are not grand, but decent.
- Any black rock formation in Lion's Arch could work too perhaps. The ground's just not that even most often.
- Aside from these, there's the HotW lobby... but then it's going to look like we pirated our images from Dulfy. talk 17:20, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
- Another suggestion: on top of the Lost Precipice, Example Mini Xera picture here. —Nefastu (talk) 18:33, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
- If you know somebody who does though, you can party up and access it that way. - Doodleplex 18:40, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
- I don't know what happens if a NA player tries to join an EU guild hall, but I can invite to my bank guild (though decorations are limited to Super Cloud because I don't scribe). —Nefastu (talk) 18:48, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
(Reset indent) Slick. That's a pretty cool location, Nefastu. NA folks can enter EU halls and vice-versa, by the way. talk 18:51, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
- I checked most spots so far, but the feet always clip through the ground.
- @Nefastu I'd like to check out the spot in the Lost Precipice. If you could temporarily invite me I would be grateful. Do you have a way to the top of the guild hall? Tyndel (talk) 07:58, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
- Which one has the better background in your opinion (ignore derpy mini). Tyndel (talk) 10:06, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
- 2. - Doodleplex 10:12, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
- Sold! Can easily switch out the blue for white, too, thus awesome. talk 11:06, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
- If we want to replace the background with white, maybe putting the mini on the Reindeer Ice Sculpture would be best? Here's a quick example without proper anything. Maybe I should continue expanding my guild hall for scribing —Nefastu (talk) 16:39, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
- Actually, you can just remove the decoration the mini is standing on. Example with somewhat proper something. —Nefastu (talk) 16:51, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
(Reset indent) I will upload some screenshots in about 4 hours. I have done about 2/3 of the minis. The rest will come tomorrow. Tyndel (talk) 19:04, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
- I'm done. I didn't update Chauncey and Mini Mystical Dragon, they look good as is. Tyndel (talk) 11:20, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
- You're a madman, Tyndel, I tell you. Totally mad. 310 images? I'm beyond impressed. I wish I could be determined and zealous enough to work that fast and focused. My goodness... Amazing work! talk 13:57, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
Legendary Infobox Gallery
Gonna move the footfalls to the main infobox image gallery as they're often too small to be seen very well in the smaller gallery, unless you have objections. Also wanna move wielded back to the top, since many other weapons already do have wielded and stowed. That sound good to/work for you? - Doodleplex 20:57, 10 December 2016 (UTC)
- No objections! Go for it. Personally, I'd move all images back up to the top if it weren't for the image cap... talk 21:20, 10 December 2016 (UTC)
There is hope for semi-automation in gem store items
Seems like there is some work being done for a gemstore API section see here. So potentially it could be easy to make a query at any time to figure out what is on the gemstore at the time the query is made. From there on, could also have automated histories \o/. Oh isn't that just a lovely thought! -Darqam 20:15, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
- Sounds nice! Provided I still have something to do then. I'm wary of you folks with your magic. *glances around* talk 20:28, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
Shoulder angles
Unless you're a really tall norn, I'm not sure most people will see shoulder skins from that angle. Would you mind retaking them from straight on? I think it might show the a little bit better as well. =o - Doodleplex 19:20, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
- That was the point though: to show more details through a different angle; particularly how the shoulderpieces are actually placed (i.e. do they stick closely to the shoulders or is there some gap?), a mere straight-on shot makes the shoulders appear as flat, further you hardly see any of the details. While I agree in most cases, straight-on shots aren't always the best solution. That said, I'll probably retake the Island Shoulder one, that angle is a bit controversial. talk 11:04, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
Moar screenshots
Hey Inc, Since you seem to be having fun with screenshots, we are missing Arbiter Greatbow, and The Gavel in the raid set. If/when you have time you could add those, that would be lovely. -Darqam 13:51, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
- I knew I've forgotten something. I'll get these right now. Thanks for reminding me! talk 14:19, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
Random? Nah!
Those earmuffs make perfect sense. Seattle got hit with a blizzard just over a week ago, and no one knew how to handle it. Anet ordered in earmuffs for their employees, and they just arrived today. Of course, the weather in Seattle has now hit a balmy 12C, so shipping them off to the players is the only way to recover the cost. G R E E N E R 22:31, 17 February 2017 (UTC)
- But why are these scheduled to leave the store then? That short time frame won't cover the costs! talk 11:17, 18 February 2017 (UTC)
- I'm crossing my fingers that this will continue to work. G R E E N E R 18:24, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
- So am I, so am I. But alas, we can never know what the Commerce Team deems worthy to keep... talk 18:40, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
And now you're gambling on Anet keeping to 31 days in March? Risky, but I hope that one pans out as well! G R E E N E R 15:37, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- I know, I know! I can already imagine Commerce cutting the sale a day short just to spite us. talk 17:04, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
Potato images on the wiki
I went a bit nuts. (warning big page:) User:Chieftain Alex/sandbox5. Files at the top will be the worst quality and/or thin aquatic weapons. -Chieftain Alex 22:07, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
- "thin aquatic weapons" Or really just the spears because I
got distracted by shinieshaven't been able to re-shoot those yet. >_< - Doodleplex 22:16, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
- I admit I chuckled when I saw the term "potato ratio" — how do you even determine the ratio of a potato? That said, how did we even get here? I thought we're after historical items not in the wardrobe that miss images. The upper list in your other sandbox hasn't found much approval, by the way. Well, neither approval nor disapproval, to be fair. Anyway, I'll see whether I can replace some potato shots. talk 10:38, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
- I think the potato is more of an "old and not as good as the current thing" than size, but I could be wrong. Either or, I'm gonna see if I can't help out with this list too-I was already interested in redoing some of the smaller back pack/back wielded weapons after finishing up the aquatic ones. - Doodleplex 18:58, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

- Did we somehow miss Worn Voltaic Spear? -Chieftain Alex 22:10, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
- If you mean did you miss it on your list, no you had it listed. - Doodleplex 22:17, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

- Did we somehow miss Worn Voltaic Spear? -Chieftain Alex 22:10, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
(Reset indent) Ah, you're right, we missed that one (and probably other aquatic PvP weapons, too). Though to be fair, I've been comparing File:Worn Voltaic Spear.jpg and File:Al'ir'aska.jpg for a good few minutes now but cannot find a difference in textures (as stated on the skin page of the PvP spear). Aren't they just the same? Regardless, we can collect some more historical items for the next round. talk 13:23, 18 March 2017 (UTC)
- The difference is easier to see if you compare them in the wardrobe itself. Worn is a bit more washed out if I remember right. SarielV 16:01, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- Ah, you're absolutely right. Excellent eye! I've replaced both images. Thanks! talk 17:04, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
Lovely set of edits
Six gem store pages edited exactly at 16:00 UTC. How long did you have those queued up for? ; ) G R E E N E R 16:04, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
- Only a few minutes! If I don't forget, I prepare the pages ten minutes or more in advance. It's fun to try beat the clock! And watch items leave the store. Some are slower than others! talk 16:05, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
- Really? Huh, so I wonder if they're given 72-hour timers which start when someone manually turns the sale on. It may explain those odd sales which have ended three hours later than others. G R E E N E R 16:08, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hmm, not sure honestly! And I doubt we'll ever know. ;) talk 16:13, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

- All right, I think I got this. Watch out for their teeth! talk 18:43, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
So, I added Monk's Outfit and Chaos Gloves Skin to your tracking page, and I realized this may be wrong. They went from regular price to sale price, which means that they may or may not be removed when the sale is over. Not sure if you'd prefer them to stay on the tracker or not. G R E E N E R 17:38, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
- Nope, that's absolutely correct — just make sure you list the percentage of the discount and the price it's selling for. The Gem Store pages need to be changed to reflect this for the duration of the sale, too, though. We've to track all the things! talk 12:30, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
- Ah, where are my manners? Thank you for this week's updates! May your map completions reward you with many BL keys! talk 12:39, 26 April 2017 (UTC)

Will be missing today's gem store swap
Hey Inc et al. Heading out of the house now and won't be back 'til night. I'll be missing the gem store change-over in an hour. I'm sure someone in the RC will see this and head to User:Incarnazeus/Gem Store Watch to see that they should move Hourglass Staff and Black Lion Keys and Scrap Package to the storage pages (Gem Store/storage/Style and Gem Store/storage/Services respectively), and see which new releases need to be brought from storage to the store.
More info is on User:Incarnazeus/Guide to Gem Store Watching G R E E N E R 14:49, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
- I understand we may be due to swap out the guaranteed ecto from the Black Lion chest. We will soon see. SarielV 16:02, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads-up, Greener! Just got home, so I'll be taking care of this. talk 19:36, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
Whoops
You asked a table question ingame whilst I was dying horribly with my thief. Give me a reminder here and I'll try and help when I get back later. -Chieftain Alex 18:03, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
- Ah, no worries! I decided to just switch out the existing table with one I'm more comfortable with and work with that. Thanks though! talk 18:06, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
- Had to go cook before EuroVision :P -Chieftain Alex 21:25, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
So, yesterday was a total write-off for me, eh?
My tally so far is: Humorous typos; claiming the Outlaw package had Black Lion Keys in it (no idea why I thought that); missing Scarlet's minis even though they were on you list; and perhaps more? I'm going to go make some coffee now, and shake my head at myself. ; ) Thanks for double-checking all of those. G R E E N E R 16:38, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
- No worries! Everything you listed happened multiple times to me already, too. And to be fair, no one would have noticed! You're doing a grand job and I'm glad you're around! ;) Enjoy your coffee! And of course, thank you very much for your work! talk 16:44, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
- So, I swing by the wiki, see that the gem store needs to be updated. I turn the game on, see that you've just left. Confused, I see that the gem store has just been updated. Thanks! G R E E N E R 16:57, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
- No, thank you for being ready at all times! ;) Update was a bit delayed since I had to help with something. talk 16:59, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
(Reset indent) "We’ve reorganized our shelves! Items will appear in more than one category if applicable, so you won’t have to guess. We’ve also added special event categories to help you find all the items related to ongoing festivals." Seriously? ... More than one category?... I'm just heading out of the house, but will be back in three hours or so (depending on if Chapters actually has the compilation of short stories I need). Not sure if you'll be online, but I'm up for discussing how to approach this if it looks painful. G R E E N E R 16:11, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
- I think I'll be online later. My god, this change is huge. To be honest, right now I'm like "Noooo, change it back!" -- it's confusing and new and weird! I hate change! talk 16:14, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
- Confusing, new, weird, and dear-God-change-it-back. Sounds like business as usual! SarielV 21:59, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
- I believe a lot of the double-listings are due to packages like Bandit Sniper Appearance Pack. If we move them to their own sub-page, and remember that they're there, then redo the transclusions on Gem Store to show that group, we should be fine. Going to make food, prep for clients, and then look at this tonight. G R E E N E R 21:32, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
- I hate the double listing. So far, here's where we're at:
- I've created pages based on the gem store:
- I've created an additional page for the double listings:
- Gem Store/Combos
- This page and its storage page may not be the best way of handling things. I'm also too tired atm to categorize the items inside of that page.
- I've moved over items from old storage pages to my best guesses as to where Commerce would put them if they came back. E.g. Consortium Chest was a total guess for its home.
- I found one item which wasn't listed in the UI sub-sections, but was shown under "All", Revive Orb. There may be other cases of this in the future...
- I'm betting that the first few weeks of this are going to be very, very painful for us.
- I won't be on tomorrow morning for the next cycle as I have clients, so I'm only able to wish you the best of luck! G R E E N E R 06:07, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
- I hate the double listing. So far, here's where we're at:
- Thanks for your hard work! I concur, double listings are annoying and in our case redundant. In addition, I'm not really sure I like how our pages are set-up right now — merging armour set skins, backpacks, and single armour pieces into "Armor skins" (even if it is like this in-game) is making additions and removals to the page more of a chore. If it's okay I'd like to split them back into separate sections within the Style category. Our previous layout didn't quite copy the in-game interface either. That aside, I'm not happy with the /Services and /Special pages deleted since we lost our history back-up this way. :( Could we join the histories to the /Utility page history instead?
- Also, nice workaround with the /Combos page. Semi-related, not sure what to think of the Seasonal Style Swap... I'll look into this whole mess when I have some more time (probably on the weekend); for now I'll keep watch as usual. talk 11:15, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
- I've brought back Gem Store/Services and Gem Store/Special, and changed them into redirects. I'm very hesitant on merging those two pages into Gem Store/Utility, as not all of the items in Services and Special went to Utility.
- I merged the armours and backpacks to mirror the layout of the gem store thinking it would be easier for us, but now I'm thinking that we'll likely only use the Promotions tab to follow new or leaving items. I'll reorganize the items if the current layout proves troublesome.
- Still grinding my teeth over the double-, and in one case triple-, listings. Normally I rely on waking up with a clearer plan, but this time it didn't happen. We hopefully have a couple more weeks to get ourselves comfortable before the assumed anniversary sale. G R E E N E R 17:19, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
(Reset indent) Thanks for bringing the pages back, redirects are just fine. :) Ignoring the double-listings might be the best way to handle them for now — I'll still think about it some more though. Maybe Commerce realises the redundancy of them and culls the listings... talk 17:31, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
So, the 15th was a total write-off for me, eh?
Looks like I did many edits to do what should have been done with just a few (bringing in new sales), and completely forgot about taking out the old sales! That's why the Jormag Dye Kit was still on the list. I've also moved out the Mistlock Sanctuary Passkey which I missed. Thanks for catching that! G R E E N E R 17:43, 25 August 2017 (UTC)
- No worries! Thank you for your hard work! talk 17:49, 25 August 2017 (UTC)
That was a copy/paste error on my part. The 10th is correct. G R E E N E R 19:37, 11 September 2017 (UTC)

How to archive your talk page
For your consideration:
- Step 1: Create the page User talk:Incarnazeus/Archive 1
- Step 2: Cut / Paste old conversations from this talk page onto the new link above.
- Step 3: Add {{Archived}} to the top of the archived page.
- Step 4: Add the following code to the top of this talk page:
{{Archive-box | image = Regenerate (fern hound).png | image-size = 80px | background-color = PowderBlue | border-color = RoyalBlue |*[[/Archive 1|MMM YYYY - MMM YYYY]] }}

Gem Store Bundles Pictures
Not sure where you usually get the images from but I found Elonian Introductory Package and Path of Fire Survival Package are missing images, and the German wiki seems to have the art from the Gem store's front page. Not sure if they're useful, but I figured I'd mention it just in case those are the right images. - Doodleplex 18:02, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks for reminding me, totally forgot about them. The images are just screenshots basically, since we can't get the .pngs Commerce uses. talk 18:43, 29 September 2017 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Hey, so I asked Lye (API dev) and he showed me this neat trick. Takes a few steps, but might make your life easier.
1) go to https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/build, copy the build number
2) go to https://gemstore-live.ncplatform.net/?buildid=82640&language=en&gamecode=gw2 and replace the number beside buildid
with the build number from step 1)
3) On the blank page, right click it and select 'view source'
4) About half way down the page you should have a link that looks like https://2gemstore.staticwars.com/const/gw2/build82548/GemStore/en/catalog.1c8b19fb.js (note it finishes with `catalog` instead of `categories` or `searchindex`. Click that link
5) Use your browser search function (probably ctrl+f) to type the item name. Seems there is usually 2 results.
6) One of the 2 results should have the line starting with `imageHash` close to it, copy the image hash value (without quotation marks)
7) Go to https://services.staticwars.com/gw2/img/content/15fcc185_large.png, and replace the text between the last front slash, an _large
with the hash you copied in step 6
This should give you what you want; I think... -Darqam 20:47, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
- we could widget that if you wanted. -Chieftain Alex 20:50, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
- OOOOOOOOH. Yes, please!! Awesome findings, by the way!! talk 20:53, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah this would probably be great for a widget or small script. It's a fairly straightforward step by step process, but annoying to do by hand. So I'd say go for it with the widget. -Darqam 21:08, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
- Done.
- If it's more useful, we can load the images onto that page too, it'll just take longer to load. -Chieftain Alex 09:11, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

Pics
So I figured I'd just ask why you reverted the image of the cat ears. I don't care all to much about it, I just happened to have the ears and figured I'd upload an image since I spent some time doing different stuff(including things that didn't already have an image but oh well...) I'm just curious because there is no quality issue besides my picture being a little smaller in size and I don't personally find those comments helpful in improving myself. As I have been told many times, bigger doesn't mean better by default, as such I don't try to outdo anyone with making a picture bigger if it isn't a good picture. Anyway, just figured I'd ask, thanks! ^^ --Eruru (talk) 17:51, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
- Greetings! Thanks for reaching out.
- If you have noticed, I did only revert this particular image. That is mainly because of the reason I stated (I am terribly sorry if you deem it not helpful). Compare the images, if you would. There is a lot of "dead space" distracting from the actual picture; further, unlike the previous version, it is not as zoomed in. In addition, the lighting in the face area seems slightly off. I've noticed this with other images of you — the quality seems to be lacking due to artefact tears and jagged edges, are you using the -bmp extension to preserve the quality? If not, please consider doing so. Also, if you have access to DSR, you might want to look into that, too.
- That aside, I'm not really a fan of the white background (assuming you're taking your images in a gift box decoration or some snow area?) since it a) hurts my eyes, b) clashes with the off-white of the infobox, c) provides no proper contrast concerning the skin colour and the items, and d) messes up the consistency of blue backgrounds throughout the wiki for weapons and single armour pieces.
- Hope this helps! Lastly, it's good that you care so much about this, only this way we can create a proper working atmosphere on the wiki. Good job on the pet images by the way; they were needed (your blurring is a bit inconsistent though). talk 18:53, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks so much for getting back to me. Yeah the pet images are a bit bob-bob. Some of them I could do a better job, I only have Photoscape and no proper editing program so it's all done by hand and well, I've a bit shaky hands due to medications lol. But thanks, I figured I'd ask because I don't always get what people mean or etc. The white background is actually from a Reshade, it is used to greenscreen. It's hard for me to get exact colour as I'm not sure what colour the wiki white is, otherwise I could definitely do that colour so it doesn't look so odd. --Eruru (talk) 12:06, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
- I think the only ever time Photoscape was actually useful to me was when I needed a frame design. I wholeheartedly recommend Gimp (and for smaller things paint.net), it's free and can compete with Photoshop. Concerning the blurring by hand, it helps if you use the Path Tool to manually trace the shape of whatever you don't want to be blurred (zooming in helps greatly with tracing stuff, by the way), then Select > By Path > Invert; finally, you can use the blur tool to blur to your heart's content even while going over your selected area without it blurring as well.
- Didn't know you could do such fancy stuff with Reshade, that's pretty neat. Also, really nice work on the Grand Lion Griffon, it turned out really well.
- About the infobox background colour... could be #f9f9f9, not too sure about it though. talk 15:13, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
(Reset indent) The recent autumn creators update messed it up; from memory (since my laptop's graphic card doesn't support DSR), go to the Nvidia control panel and deactivate DSR. Restart your PC and reactivate it once again; it should work again then. Forget about GeForce Experience, it doesn't detect anything anymore nor can you activate 4k from there. :S Another tip if you go for 4k, if your monitor has a pivot function, set it to vertical for even better pictures (not recommended for all types of gear or creatures and what not) talk 11:47, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
Black Lion Stattuete storage
Hello, I took an inspiration from Gem Store/storage and applied it to the content of Black Lion Statuette - see: Black Lion Statuette/storage. The same offerings are used on Black Lion Chest Merchant page. I would appreciate when you have the time to look at it, as I personally have no idea how to fix/make it to appear the same way as showing gem store unavailable items (on discounted item it says Black Lion Statuette (unavailable) but not in gray, and it doesn't indicate at all that it is not available from the merchant anymore). Hopefully my request isn't much confusing. Sime (talk) 22:30, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hey! Sorry, I fear I won't be of much use here, I'm technically inept. Let's wait for Alex to rescue us! talk 22:50, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
