Suggestion for skill histories[edit]
You should consider creating a project page for the skill history project and porting the relevant pages over from your userspace. That would encourage wider participation and allow you to set a standard for others to follow, so you don't have to shoulder the whole thing yourself. :) - Felix Omni 19:07, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
<3[edit]
Heya, thanks for reformatting the elementalist pages. I was just about to go through it all to update it and noticed that you had already done it all. I'll abide by the new template here on out. -Darqam (talk) 18:01, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
- You're welcome! Thank you for gathering all the information in the first place. I've just edited the /table format page again (for bullet guidelines), you may want to check there. -Nefastu (talk) 18:59, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
Skill Version History[edit]
Hallo Nefastu!
:D -Nefastu (talk) 09:05, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
Ele Tables[edit]
Yo! In case you haven't seen yet the ele tables are done. I'm hoping I caught everything (I should have). I'm not sure if I should start another given how slow I progress. If you do want me to, which group do you want me attack now? -Darqam (talk) 18:22, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
- Great, thank you! If you want to help out, you can pick from any of the ones that aren't yet being worked on, but I'd suggest not picking engineer. Too much skills on that profession @.@ -Nefastu (talk) 18:37, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
Gratz[edit]
In recognition of the incredible amount of effort and time you've put into the skill history project from conception to completion, it is my pleasure to present you with an extremely rare and highly coveted gratz barnstar.
And also a miniature gratz barnstar, suitable for framing.
Display them with pride. - Felix Omni 21:19, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

Not sure if you saw, but we have two requests on the drop Template:Drops table row that I'm hoping you know how to answer(because sadly I still don't. Sad quaggan is sad). Also is it possible to make a blank template nav for NPCs that are part of the same group of things, such as the "Keepers of Elements" (ie Keeper of Earth and company), champions of race (Like Champion Potoni the Massive) and what not, but are not the same race? Would probably look a lot pretty to have a nav than "See this list of 3 to X NPCs", and might help with some of the seasonal stuff like the Halloween creatures. - Doodleplex 22:00, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
- Looks like I misread your request for {{Drops table row}}, my bad. Alex already fixed the first request, so I'll look into your request for that template in a minute.
- As to the blank template, the first thing that comes to my mind is something like
{{blank nav|Header title|Pages to link to,seperated,by,comma}}
, example here for a very basic template. I don't think I could put any SMW property logic in there, as some things just aren't stored as properties. —Nefastu 23:31, 14 February 2017 (UTC)- That looks good to me. Thank you so much. =) - Doodleplex 23:43, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
- Uh, shouldn't we just use

- Correct, I primarily want it for groups of NPCs that are linked to each other for a specific reason, like the Keepers, HoT race champs, Belcher's Bluff NPCs, etc. and having a blank nav template to use to group such npcs makes it easier for players to know why those NPCs are grouped together; see also can be a bit vague in regards to this. It also works for creatures don't fit nicely in the creature nav, but are part of the same group(ie Bite-Sized Candy Corn Elemental don't fit in the candy corn elemantal nav, nor does the Viscount). - Doodleplex 00:14, 15 February 2017 (UTC)

Cleaning up after me[edit]
Much appreciated! Did a copy/paste, then promptly forgot to look up the build ID when I was in-game (heck, I didn't even know it was available through the API). G R E E N E R 21:09, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

Pulmonary Impact[edit]
"API reveals a damage coefficient of 3.28; if you're calculating damage coefficients, make sure you're using the correct weapon strength!)" Can you send me the link for this trait, 'cause i've testet the skill with Palm Strike (Dmg of Pulmonary Impact of Palm Strike seems to be equal to an Interrupt's). I've tested it in PvP against a target golem heavy, with empty Trait Lines (Daredevil, Acrobatics, Shadow Arts). Based on the Dmg of Shadow Shot (1,3125) i've calculated an Weapon Strength of round about 920. The Dmg i dealt against the heavy golem is like the Tool Tip says: 1776 (Tool Tip Value: 1770, 20 Datapoints). With a weapon strength of 920. I've got an Dmg-Coefficent for Pulmonary Impact of round about 2.1. I've calculated this based on the tooltip in pve too, and got a coeff of 2.27. I know the tooltip could be rounded in serveral steps but it should be near to the real value. More over the dmg coeff_pvp should be coeff_pve*0.85 but it isn't. But i've testet it in pve as well. In the special forces training area the skill has a dmg coeff of 2.25 (30 data points) based on a (unknown) armor value of 2623. Although i don't know the exact values and my data sets contains only 20-30 data points i guess an coeff of 3.28 or 2.8 (PvP) is a bit to high. May be the api contains false data. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.211.208.76 (talk) at 00:09, 23 May 2017 (UTC).
- API link to trait and API link to trait skill.
- "i've calculated an Weapon Strength of round about 920." There's the issue. Almost all traits/utilities do not scale with your currently equipped weapons, instead they use something that is called "unequipped weapon strength" on the wiki, since you can apply Pulmonary Impact without any weapons equipped. This unequipped weapon strength is equal to a Fine level 77 sword, so you have a weapon range of 656-725 with 690.5 as the midpoint.
- If we now replace the PvP dagger/ascended dagger weapon strength with the unequipped weapon strength, we get the following:
- PvP:
2.1 * 920 / 690.5 = 2.7979
and - PvE:
2.27 * 1000 / 690.5 = 3.2874
,
- PvP:
- which can be rounded to 2.8 and 3.28, matching what is displayed on the API.
- I'm fairly confident that the API does not contain any false data. Also, I've put together a neat little tool to calculate coefficient and damage numbers for the wiki, maybe this can help you as well as it helps me. :) —Nefastu 08:21, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. I didn't know that they use a diffrent weapon strength. But that means, that the effective Dmg_coeff of the utilities are indeed smaller then the real value, 'cause of the smaller weapon strength.
- One question left: Do you know what the weapon strength of the F-Utilities is? —213.211.208.76 10:58, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
- Profession F1-F5 skills (usually) scale with your equipped main hand weapon, see the notes of Mind Wrack, Overload Fire, Surprise Shot (engineer skill) and Spear of Justice for examples. —Nefastu 11:57, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks —213.211.208.76 12:47, 23 May 2017 (UTC)

Was wondering...[edit]
You seem to be awesome with wiki templates, so I was wondering if you knew how to make the two on this page work like the ones we have. - Doodleplex 09:51, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
- Probably not efficiently, because there's a language barrier for me, as I cannot speak, read or write spanish. But maybe this helps you: in the ES-recipe template, you're setting the Tiene ingrediente id property, whereas in the EN-recipe template Has ingredient with id is set (at least that's what I got from the error message on the recipe box, Tiene ingrediente id expects a number, but receives a record instead).
- For the recipe list template, it looks like we would get the same error on the EN wiki if a recipe requires an ingredient that has no page (and thus, no Has game icon property). So maybe the fix for that issue is simply creating the page. —Nefastu 13:05, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
- Fixed. When I redid the recipe template for the API bit I repurposed some properties that already were around on the english wiki, there was a redirect that needed writing over to generate the missing property. That gets rid of the top warning, the bottom bit is purely because it's not created yet. (as explained above) -Chieftain Alex 13:10, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
- Ahh thank you! Actually the problem with the bottom one has nothing to do with the missing icon, it's that I can't get the flushed to the same line. I think the problem is the Spanish wiki is missing the div "ingredient", but beyond that, I'm not sure. Also I wouldn't be too worried about not speaking spanish for the spanish wiki. While my experiment to see if I could learn the wiki code used for templates by recreating them for the spanish wiki seems to be working, I've discovered a lot of their templates that are already there are copy pasted from our wiki and therefore already in English lol(or at many were, have translated a few). That and most of the spanish used in the templates is in its basic form(no complicated spanish sentences) which works for me since that's as far as I was able to go in school, so you could use Google translate and be just fine. - Doodleplex 19:32, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Table request[edit]
Hiya Nefastu. Since you seem to be good with fancy tables, could you perhaps have a go at recreating this table from the PvP Tournament UI? Here are the four icons used:
—Ventriloquist 08:42, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
Something like this?Except for the monthly tournament, times are wrong and need adjustments. —Nefastu 11:41, 22 June 2017 (UTC)- Missed some formatting. —Nefastu 12:57, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- Looks good! I'd suggest adding a light color to the table (if it doesn't look ugly), and adding
link=
to the file images, so they're not clickable images. But all in all, thanks! —Ventriloquist 15:02, 22 June 2017 (UTC)- You're welcome! I've added your suggestions; for my choice of color, I looked at Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Table formatting#List of STDT parameters and saw that mech1 is for PvP content, so I just picked that. —Nefastu 16:26, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- Aw man, that looks great. Feel free to add it to the tournament page now, and hey, thanks again! —Ventriloquist 16:34, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

- Why not make the images clickable? I think clickable is okay. -Chieftain Alex 17:11, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- To be honest, I'd like to wait a few days before putting that table on the page to check if my assumption of 23 hours "cooldown" between daily tournaments is correct, so my time until next does not display horribly false information. —Nefastu 17:30, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- Why not make the images clickable? I think clickable is okay. -Chieftain Alex 17:11, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- Because they are unrelated to the tournament? Clicking them links to their file pages (which are originally decorations), and I fail to see any use in that. —Ventriloquist 17:41, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
Update notes; A story[edit]
I click on recent changes, and happily see that there's an August 8th update. I go to it, and start reading.
"Hmmm, updates to the world... Updates to fractals... Oh! Ele got re-balanced, let's read... And so did engi, that's nice... Huh, odd to see Anet go so indepth with their preambles... This section appears to be unusually long... Why is this paragraph still going?! Did we lose a copy-editor over at Anet?... Why can't I follow this??" *checks history* ... "Oh." G R E E N E R 20:02, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
- Just in case someone else started formatting for the wiki game update page I saved it; page should be fine now, will add links now. :) —Nefastu 20:03, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
- I completely understand :D. Been there, done that. G R E E N E R 20:06, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
When Moving Things[edit]
...without leaving a redirect, do check the "What links here" first to avoiding causing broken links. For example, File:Flanking Strike (thief spear skill).png, File:Flawless Strike.png, and File:Empowering Vengeance.png still were in use. I've already fixed them, but I just wanted to give you a heads up for future reference. ;) - Doodleplex 23:44, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for reminding me about that! With all the skills and traits to update, I did not think of fixing links. —Nefastu 08:56, 16 August 2017 (UTC)
Skills & trait updates[edit]
Hey Nefastu, given your continuous and amazing work on the updating of both traits and skills on each balance patch, I wanted to check something with you. Since I just finished the skeleton of an update tracker for items, would a similar tracker for skills and traits help? This tracker really would just track the difference between a locally stored copy of the object vs the new api versions.
I don't think I have the time to make a whole skill/trait infobox builder, nor do I think it'd be worth it; however I think an update tracker would be easy to implement.
Anyway, if you thing there's any worth to it I'll give it a go in a bit, if not then I'll just drop the idea for now. -Darqam 15:03, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, if a skill/trait tracker is easy to set up, sure, that sounds great! This would especially help for updating skills with the patch note being something like "updated various skill descriptions" or "all engineer skills with explosions now have a explosion skill fact" :D
- Creating a skill/trait infobox builder is probably not worth the effort, I agree. —Nefastu 15:20, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
- Alright cool, that will be the next set then. Still need to start saving things, so obviously there won't be any history prior to when it's made (ideally in the week to come); but it'll be a start. Thanks for the input. -Darqam 15:36, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
- Ok so view_new_entries page [1] now has an option for traits and skills. When looking only at new entries, it will only output an api link (for convenience) but no infobox will be printed or anything.
- The updated options *should* show updates whenever they come around on Tuesday, but since this will be the first live run, who knows it might break. At the very least there should be a functional tracker for new entries, and possibly a tracker for updates (but what changed may not show up). -Darqam 17:13, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you! —Nefastu 22:12, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
(Reset indent) AAAAAAAAAH It doesn't work as expected. Shit's broke and I don't have time to fix it until quite later. So you'll have to do it without the tool this time, sowy :/ -Darqam 00:04, 9 May 2018 (UTC) edit: traits seem to work a wee bit. Skills are all sorts of messed up.... -Darqam 00:29, 9 May 2018 (UTC)
