Plates of Lemongrass Poultry[edit]
Are you sure it should be called Plate and not Plates? I looked it up and it's plural in the api and in-game, too. --Ventriloquist 23:17, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
- You're right, it is under the same name ingame. My bad. Tyndel (talk) 23:27, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
- Oh ffs - now I've buggered it. — snograt 00:48, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
- Ok, moved it back, now there's a redirect too just in case leap-before-lookers like me do it again. For future reference though, if there IS a typo in a page name, it's simply a matter of using the MOVE tab and moving the page to one with the correct spelling. Usually automatically leaves a redirect too, which can be useful. — snograt 00:57, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

NOTOC[edit]
The __NOTOC__ thing is used to hide the ugly Table of Contents often found on short pages. Now, while it's very useful in long pages and such, it's a waste of space and to be honest, UG-LY on really short pages, such as NPC pages. If you create a page and there's no Table of Contents, then don't put in a NOTOC; if it spawns (from the depths of hell), then put it in. For example, see how this page has a Table of Contets, despite consisting of basically 10 sentences. Not very useful, eh? Basically, put in the NOTOC if a Table of Contents appeared despite the (shor) length of the page (keep it if it's a long page though) and that's it! --Ventriloquist 11:20, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
- I didn't know why it would appear on some pages and not on others very similar to it. I now know better. Thanks. Tyndel (talk) 11:26, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
- A table of contents will appear if you more than 3 headings,
== example heading ==
. The rule of thumb that I use is that if I can see the entire page without scrolling on my monitor, then it doesn't need a TOC. -Chieftain Alex 11:54, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

Dialogue Styles[edit]
Yeah, I admit the current dialogue styles are a mess. No one edited the quotes&dialogues projects page since around 2013; we really do need to bring some more attention to it. We need consistency and a way to make it easier for editors to be aware of the styles available. Definitely needs some discussion on the Community portal, at the very least. For now, if you're in doubt, use this page as a way of checking which styles are available and for any other doubts. --Ventriloquist 12:34, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
- I think I'll stick with style #1 for now since it got some approval on the talk page and is most commonly used. That means I'll probably go through the Brisban Wildlands NPCs I edited again. Also, I'm using style #2 for additional branches. Tyndel (talk)

personal story rewards[edit]
There's no need to put those on different pages. Take a look at how I handled the Rawhide armor items. —Dr Ishmael 12:20, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- Hm, that would look nicer, but I don't know how to integrate them in there. They have a different icon and skin.Tyndel (talk) 12:25, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- Oh, duh - if they'd had the same skin I would've already included them. BLERP BLERP, beginning level 1 diagnostic... —Dr Ishmael 13:34, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
Tip[edit]
Be sure to do a null edit on the pages that were once linked with the files you've tagged for deletion; just to refresh 'em. To do that, click "what links here" (on the file page) and just run them down. --Ventriloquist 13:03, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, I will do that next time, I forgot about that part. I'm taking a break now. Tyndel (talk) 13:06, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
- I'll do the ones you forgot, there's only like four files I deleted. --Ventriloquist 13:07, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
- If you like, I'll go delete all those dupes + replace. -Chieftain Alex 15:26, 7 September 2014 (UTC)

Gear icon[edit]
Is there a reason why you re-uploaded the gear icon and tagged the original for deletion? The original has 40 page links to it, whilst the other one has only five. The icon could have just been moved to the sprocket one; I might be missing something here, so let me know. --Ventriloquist 14:07, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
- I make mistakes is the short answer >_<. Long answer: I forgot you could move the file and instead changed things so that everything pointed to Sprocket.png instead. If there are pages left that link to Gear.png they should go away by refreshing them. Tyndel (talk) 14:15, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
- Oh, ouch, you basically did the extra-mundane job. Props for not losing your mind; I hate doing tasks like those. I'll edit up those forty pages and then the gear icon will be obliterated. Ventriloquist 14:17, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
Champ Boxes[edit]
If you're curious: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Asuka/ChampBoxes Asuka (talk) 13:38, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, I copied some of them to User:Tyndel/ChampBox. I actually knew how to get the IDs, but the interesting part (where the boxes drop) sadly can't be found in the API. Tyndel (talk) 13:47, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

unused images[edit]
Since you're doing you did some icon cleanup today... When you tag an image for deletion as "unused" because it's redundant with another image, it would be convenient if you included a link to the file that's replacing it. Thanks. —Dr Ishmael 21:54, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
- Ok, will do. Done for now though. Tyndel (talk) 21:55, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

dye icons[edit]
I'd say go ahead and make a new subcategory for them, as long as you're doing this. :) —Dr Ishmael 15:44, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
consumable/container confusion conundrum[edit]
In-game, containers are identified as a "Consumable" in their tooltip, so if "RandomUser4134" creates the wiki page, they'll probably call it a consumable. The API differentiates between them as top-level item types, so I don't know why the tooltips are like that. —Dr Ishmael 16:22, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
- In this particular instance the item type was changed by Ventriloquist who I assume looked the item up on the API. I think he was right so it was probably classified as a consumable for a patch or two. Tyndel (talk) 16:25, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
- Looking at my frustration from this edit, they likely changed it some time after the page was created. Ventriloquist 20:34, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
- I see. That IS weird. —Dr Ishmael 23:00, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
- Huh? We look at the API for this? I was under the impression that every consumable that contains other stuff is a container. At least that’s how I have been doing this for ages. poke | talk 19:48, 16 February 2015 (UTC)
- If my memory servers me correctly, Relyk originally created the page with the type being consumable. Now, I don't know if he took it from the api, or the game, but one of those stated that it was in fact a consumable. I changed it to container, then reverted myself since I saw (in-game?) that it was listed as a consumable. Ventriloquist 23:25, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

- @poke - You're correct, every consumable that contains other items is identified in the API as
type:"Container"
- with the exception of some gizmos, like Black Lion Chests, but they require special actions to open rather than simple double-clicking. - @Ventriloquist - In-game, the tooltips for containers say "Consumable," as I pointed out above. I'm pretty sure you didn't see that in the API. —Dr Ishmael 03:16, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

blank categories[edit]
honestly I have no idea why the bot hit those pages.. thought I'd manually removed them from that category earlier.. -Chieftain Alex 21:10, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- Idk either. My original intention with the transmutation category was to clean up the consumable category by making appropriate subcategories. I used the canonical name in the API for this type of item. With this redistribution they are technically in the wrong categories (e.g. sword icons are categorized for the literal sword weapons, not all sword skins); it definitely is more convenient when you are searching for sword icons to have them all bunched up. As long as they don't clog up the consumable category it's fine. Tyndel (talk) 21:23, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
Effects IDs[edit]
Thanks for adding IDs to the speed boon pages so quickly. I have no idea how to find the IDs myself; mind sharing your secret? --Idris (talk) 00:20, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- If you see the boon on yourself or another character, you can shift click it to make it appear in the chat window. Then you add /wiki on the left and it will take you to a page where it searches for that chatcode via deciphering it to a number, which will appear on that search screen. Works with everything that can be put in chat. Tyndel (talk) 00:27, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

Extended editor rights[edit]
Help:Extended editor — Would these be of any use to you? You seem to be doing a lot in the way of consolidating redundant images (sadly it doesn't include delete but oh well). Might be worth asking Tanetris or Poke if these are of interest. -Chieftain Alex 17:17, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Your Weapon Images[edit]
For some reason I always end up keeping all my praise and appreciation for the work of others to myself... but not this time! Loving your weapon shots, Tyndel! I see you ascended higher plains (though you could probably reach even higher places if I see this correctly). Awesome work! On a side note, why's the file size so little? talk 15:43, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'm trying to reach your position ingame, though it's hard to find an angle where no land is visible. I'm also using another account to take the pictures atm. As for the filesize, I convert from bmp to jpg in Microsoft Paint, which is probably lossy, but I don't notice a big difference. Tyndel (talk) 15:50, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. Personally, I find it easier to take images using only one account since I've more leeway to play with the camera (particularly zooms). Concerning the angle, that's indeed tricky sometimes, and I admit sometimes I edit the structures in the background out. I usually pan the camera so it's angled slightly upwards. Like this, basically. Regarding the file size, mine are usually bigger, but then again, I just save the .bmp as .jpg. talk 16:08, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
User image revert[edit]
Just curious to know why you reverted File:User Greener Cats.jpg. I could swear for user images it still needed to show the == Licensing == part and to have the user name be in the {{user image}}. - Doodleplex 19:29, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
- I misclicked on the rollback button. I'm not a good extended editor. Tyndel (talk) 19:40, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

Mini King Wasi[edit]
Are you sure that's the right icon? Because I'm seeing a completely different icon in the API and in game for that mini. - Doodleplex 17:53, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
Pictures of minis[edit]
Hello, I would like to ask you if you could share your secret to making these pictures of miniatures - I tried moving in guild hall with the new fractal deco and this is the result, but I can't imagine you spending that much time for each of the minis - I would definitely gone mad. Thanks. Sime (talk) 02:57, 11 February 2018 (UTC)
- Not Tyndel, and not necesseraliy the same spot that Tyndel uses, but here's a short video where I create mini screenshots, from this discussion. —Nefastu 10:32, 11 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hey, sorry for the late answer. In general I use the spot on this picture, right where the chatbox is. The valley between the two bumps is not aligned with the actual terrain, so you minis will hover over the ground. Lately there have been a lot of mount minis, and they barely fit. I frequently have to overlay a blue rectangle over a corner of a picture. I'll try Nefastu's spot, it might save me time in the long run and allow me to get better angles on the Skimmer minis. Tyndel (talk) 18:19, 17 February 2018 (UTC)
Weapon screenshots[edit]
Just wanted to say thanks for the high-quality screenshots of various weapons you just uploaded. I'm especially impressed by File:Mark of the Unnamed.jpg; my version was darker and not quite as zoomed in. What's your secret? I assume it involves standing near a wall so the camera is forced closer to the character, but I couldn't find a good spot. --Idris (talk) 13:53, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
- I tried to double the resolution used for screenshots with nVidia DSR. Also, I pose the character on my laptop, then find a good camera angle on my alt account on the PC. That way I can have a 'free' camera. Tyndel (talk) 14:01, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
- I'm going to jump in here and also send my appreciation for those screen shots. G R E E N E R 17:16, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- ^Ditto. I've been unable to take any as my computer is still pretty much a dead duck, so I'm quite grateful. <3 - Doodleplex 18:11, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- Me three! Not just the weapon images, but all the rest as well! Pleasant surprise to return to! talk 17:57, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
Mini Twisted Mender[edit]
Hey Tyndel. Could you perhaps take an additional angle of the Mini Twisted Mender? Konig reverted to the side version, while yours was frontal, so if you could take another angle with a side view, we'd have both with the consistent background. —Ventriloquist 10:31, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
