Rewards[edit]
Walkthrough[edit]
This mission is fairly straight-forward. Begin by heading east (to your left at start) to find Gorrik and Rama. After talking with them, there will be a scream. Head south to find Yao being attacked by the jade mech Finn. After bringing Finn's health down, you will need to interact with it to restart Finn and turn it friendly. Afterwards, you'll need to talk with six out of nine witnesses. Each witness will require you to do something for them before they talk - these include:
- Bringing them water.
- Bringing them (or nearby animals) food.
- Bringing them a jade block.
- Bringing them a pickax.
All required items are nearby them, and will be marked with a related icon above the bundles they want.
After talking to six witnesses, another scream will be heard. Head south towards the mine entrance to find Chul-Moo lying on the ground near the eastern wall. After a brief discussion between him, the Commander, and Yao, Jin-Lee will approach and attack. Defeating Jin-Lee will spark one last discussion and the story mission will end.

Dialogue[edit]
- Approaching Gorrik and Rama
- Gorrik: I'm afraid my knowledge of healing is mostly theory based. Detective, are you trained in mouth-to-mouth resuscitation?
- Detective Rama: You know, you can just call me "Rama." Since I guess we're both detectives now—
- Gorrik: Thank you, Dete—Rama. I don't have a surname or honorific, per se, but even if I did, you could still call me Gorrik.
- Detective Rama: Uh, thanks.
- <Character name>: Is he...?
- Detective Rama: He has a pulse, but it's weak.
- <Character name>: Any sign of Yao? Or anyone?
- Detective Rama: No, but we haven't been here long. Besides this guy, place is a ghost town.
- Mysterious Scream: (scream)
- Gorrik: (gasp) What if that's Yao? We need to investigate!
- <Character name>: You two, stay here and tend to him. I'll take a look.
- Investigating the upper mine area
- Angry Brotherhood Mech: Stay back! What the hell is wrong with you?
- Yao: Me? What's wrong with you?
- Yao: Commander! Quick, hit the off switch!
- After subduing the mech
- Yao: Nice timing. Thanks for the assist!
- Yao: This is Finn. I programmed him to be a fast learner, but I guess he adopted too much of Chul-Moo's management style.
- Ari: We told Chul-Moo: positive reinforcement. Lasted about fifteen minutes. Then he went back to his usual abrasive self.
- Yao: I heard things were going off the rails out here... Thought I'd drop by, make sure everyone's okay.
- Ari: Really? What've you heard?
- Yao: Some of the crew are MIA. Not sure if they're walking off the job and sticking it to Chul-Moo, or something worse.
- Ari: My team's still here. But a guy locked himself in a room, yelling like he was possessed. Or...maybe stressed out...
- Ari: And the animals are acting up. I know it sounds stupid. I thought the veterans were making it up to scare the newbies.
- Yao: Chul-Moo did say the wildlife out here is "spawned from Shiro himself."
- Ari: Then he's told you more than he's told us. I bet if you ask around camp you'll see more.
- Speaking to Ari
- Don't report me for catching a breather, I won't report you for...whatever you're doing.
- How long has this excavation been going on?
- Mine's been around since before I was born. Dormant for years. After Soo-Won, everybody's been looking for energy sources. Scouts found this jade, so we brought in equipment and started digging.
- I have another question.
- Good to know. Thanks.
- How did the Brotherhood find out about this place?
- Details above my pay grade, buddy! Chul-Moo's got eyes and ears—and knuckles—in a lotta places. He hears about anything valuable, you can bet we'll be doing everything we can to beat Xunlai to it.
- One more question...
- Got it. Thanks for the info.
- Know anything about this area?
- Eh, not much. Some of the crew say they hear voices. See things. Don't know, don't care. Mining's always risky. I'm out here breakin' my back to get paid! Noises or not, need to put food on the table!
- One more thing...
- Thanks
- The Brotherhood did all this? Logistics? Planning? Giant drills?
- I look like the marketing department? Look, Xunlai's not the only game in town. Though I'm surprised the MoT hasn't caught wind with all the train issues. Or maybe they did and Chul-Moo sorted it out.
- Sorted it out?
- Don't play naïve. Last thing we need is MoT or Xunlai out here pokin' around, telling us what's what, eating into our profits... We hit the motherlode out here, that's OURS! I'm sure Chul-Moo'd agree.
- Wait, one more thing.
- Thanks for the information.
- I have another question.
- Good luck.
- I look like the marketing department? Look, Xunlai's not the only game in town. Though I'm surprised the MoT hasn't caught wind with all the train issues. Or maybe they did and Chul-Moo sorted it out.
- I have to go.
- Asking around the camp
- Brotherhood Scrapper (packing): What do you want?
- Heard some strange things are happening here. Seen anything unusual?
- Got a deadline here, so let's make a deal. you grab some jade for me, I'll talk, everybody's happy. Sound good?
- I held up my end of the bargain... (If carrying jade)
- Brotherhood Scrapper: Damn right I have! Even Jindo hates it! Yesterday he snapped at me, then ran off. He's usually such a good boy.
- Brotherhood Scrapper: Never so much as growled at me before. If you're nosing around here anyway, could you look for him? He's got me worried.
- Okay.
- Brotherhood Scrapper (injured): What do you want?
- Heard some strange things are happening here. Seen anything unusual?
- Ugh... I'm in no shape to be talking right now. Need some of that medicine over there first.
- That medicine make you any more talkative? (If carrying medicine)
- Brotherhood Scrapper: "Seen"? Good luck seeing anything down in that pit. The air's thick as soup. And barely breahtable.
- Brotherhood Scrapper: I already have asthma. If I wind up with more breathing problems, Chul-Moo's gonna pay!
- Okay.
- Brotherhood Warrior (hungry): What do you want?
- Heard some strange things are happening here. Seen anything unusual?
- Look, my mouth has better things to do than jibber-jabber. Like eat. Can't you hear my stomach growling.
- I made you some fish. Now dish. (If carrying food from the Cooking Fire)
- Brotherhood Warrior: How 'bout you mind your own damn business? (grumble) Nosy snoop...
- Sounds more like a gentle purr, but I'll find you something to eat.
- Jade Brotherhood Stablemaster: What do you want?
- Heard some strange things are happening here. Seen anything unusual?
- Maybe, maybe not. I'll tell you...IF you feed one of those bottomless-bellied turtlets. I need a break!
- Turtle tummies are topped up. It's time to hold up your end of the bargain. (After feeding hay to the Siege Turtles)
- Jade Brotherhood Stablemaster: The vibes of this place are all wrong.
- Jade Brotherhood Stablemaster: I can't put my finger on it, but there's something foul down here with us. I can feel it.
- Okay.
- Brotherhood Pistoleer: What do you want?
- Heard some strange things are happening here. Seen anything unusual?
- I may be willing to impart some wisdom...if you might be willing to party with some coin to fund my buy-in.
- Fine. But don't lose it all at once. (Donate 3 gold.) (With over 3 )
- He-he-he! Thanks, pal! Now, what was it you wanted?
- Heard some strange things are happening here. Seen anything unusual?
- Brotherhood Pistoleer: Strange? Heh. How about the fact that we're all taking orders from Chul-Moo.
- Brotherhood Pistoleer: Why that guy's in charge, I will never know.
- On second thought, never mind.
- I'll keep my coin exactly where it is, thanks.
- Brotherhood Junker (fruit basket): What do you want?
- Heard some strange things are happening here. Seen anything unusual?
- Didn't I tell you to go forage for fruit in that oasis an hour ago? What have you even been doing?
- I found some coconuts. Will this do? (If carrying a Coconut)
- Brotherhood Junker: One of my crew said a guy had a meltdown in the lower mine. Started shouting at everyone. Totally incoherent.
- Brotherhood Junker: Even locked himself in a supply room. He had a meeting with Chul-Moo earlier that day. Must've been a rough one...
- Think you're mistaking me for somebody else, but I'll find that fruit.
- Jade Brotherhood Miner (hungry): What do you want?
- Heard some strange things are happening here. Seen anything unusual?
- I can't talk on an empty stomach.
- Here. Now go ahead and talk with your mouth full. (If carrying food from the Cooking Fire)
- Jade Brotherhood Miner: Haven't seen anything, per se. But I swear I heard something.
- Jade Brotherhood Miner: A voice from the dark...whispering. When I turned around, no one was there...
- But you just did. Fine, I'll get you some food.
- Jade Brotherhood Miner (not working): What do you want?
- Heard some strange things are happening here. Seen anything unusual?
- I have bigger problems, buddy. Pickax here broke, and Chul-Moo's gonna have my head if I look like I'm slacking.
- First talk. Then dig. (If carrying a pickax)
- Jade Brotherhood Miner: Who wants to know? You MinSec or something?
- I'll find you another one. Then we'll chat.
- Brotherhood Junker (packing): What do you want?
- Heard some strange things are happening here. Seen anything unusual?
- Don't care who you are or what you've heard, I have deadlines. Make yourself useful and bring me some jade. Then we might talk.
- Here's your jade. Now talk. (If carrying jade)
- Brotherhood Junker: Oh yeah, I've seen some stuff. Stuff you wouldn't believe. Crazy stuff. Like this one lady...
- Brotherhood Junker: Started talking backward. Out of nowhere! Strangest thing I've ever head. But it gets weirder...
- Brotherhood Junker: Saw this kappa... Cute little thing... Ran over and...heh, bit this guy's head clean off! Like a snack. And then...
- Brotherhood Junker: It shot laser beams from its beady little eyes! I swear! Watch yourself out there. (chuckles)
- Okay.
- Jade Brotherhood Miner (parched): What do you want?
- Heard some strange things are happening here. Seen anything unusual?
- So parched... Can hardly speak... Can you even hear me right now? Or does it just sound...like a hit...of a whisper...on the breeze...in a forest...of—
- Here's a drop from a splash from a bucket of water. What have you seen? (If carrying Refreshing Water)
- Jade Brotherhood Miner: Not sure about "unusual", but my team's captain is MIA. Just...disappeared after one of our night shifts.
- Jade Brotherhood Miner: Between us, I bet she walked off the job. Seemed real agitated right before she went missing. Can't say I blame her...
- Pipe down. I'll get your water.
- After filling the task completion bar
- Mysterious Scream: (scream)
- (one of the following)
- <Character name>: (sigh) What now?
- <Character name>: (sigh) Is screaming the only way the Brotherhood knows how to communicate?
- Investigating the scream
- Chul-Moo: Finally! Did no one hear me yelling?
- Yao: No offense, Chul-Moo, but you yelling isn't that unusual. You all right?
- Chul-Moo: Yao? I told you to— No, I'm not all right! Jin-Lee attacked me!
- Yao: The quiet, polite guy? Well, you're working everyone to the bone. Maybe he's stressed.
- Chul-Moo: He bit me!
- Yao: Oh.
- Chul-Moo: Oh no! He's back! Keep him away from me!
- Yao: Jin-Lee, it's Yao. You remember me, don't you?
- Jin-Lee: (rabid gurgling)
- Yao: C'mon... Don't make me do this...
- After subduing Jin-Lee
- Chul-Moo: Th-thank you for...doing that. I didn't have the heart to do it myself...
- Yao: Was that really Jin-Lee? He was acting like a monster! But if any part of him is still him... I...don't know what to say...
- Chul-Moo: This place...puts everyone on edge. They go down there to mine, and if they come back they're all rebellious...
- Yao: "If"? Maybe you should, I don't know, be looking for them?
- Chul-Moo: I tried, but— Look, if you're going to critcize me, run home to Joon! That why you really here? To spy?
- Yao: Gods, you're paranoid. You said things were out of hand, which checks out. I'm staying to search for the crew.
- Chul-Moo: Don't go down— You won't listen anyway. Do whatever you want. But don't say I didn't warn you!
- Yao: You're in a tough position. I get that. But the longer you sit back and wait, the more people will wind up like Jin-Lee.
- Yao: I know how much you care about your crew.
- Yao: But if you don't act now, you won't have any crew left to care about.
- Yao: Commander, if you want to scope out more of the area, I'll meet you later in the lower mines.
- Yao: Chul-Moo...these people have been nothing but brave for you. It's time to return the favor.
- Finding Jindo
- The dog is spooked and cowering, unsure of your intentions.
- You're Jindo, aren't you, boy? It's okay, you're safe. Go on home.
- Back away.
- Checking back on the injured scrapper near the entrance
- Detective Rama: Commander, look who's up. Morning, sunshine.
- Brotherhood Scrapper: Can't a guy take a lunch nap without the law hovering around?
- Detective Rama: We're investigating reports of odd occurrences around here. Seen anything?
- Brotherhood Scrapper: Reports, huh? So...guess you'd already know...about the walls...
- Detective Rama: Humor me.
- Brotherhood Scrapper: You know... They've been...talking. Farther you get down the mine, the more they say.
- Gorrik: WHAT?
- Detective Rama: What. Hold on. This guy's full of it.
- Gorrik: We shouldn't discount any detail yet—we're still in the info-gathering phase!
- Detective Rama: Wanna be a detective? Gotta learn to weed out the liars. Bud, look me in the eyes. Now, tell me about the talking walls.
- Brotherhood Scrapper: Well, they...(heh) say you ask too many questions— (snicker)
- Detective Rama: Psssh. Poor eye contact. Shifty posture. Can't even buy his own skritt without laughing.
- Gorrik: The body does betray a lot through nervous system responses. Fascinating...
