Open world[edit]
Bangar Ruinbringer, Imperator, Blood Legion Re: Celebrating the New Order Commander, First: sincerest congratulations on bringing down Kralkatorrik. Three Elder Dragons and a god—very impressive. That merits contemplation. Which brings me to my second point: Tyria is changing. I find myself wondering about the shape of this new world and what the future holds for the Charr. So I've invited my fellow imperators, along with their best and brightest, to our Homelands for a grand convocation. A celebration of who the Charr are—and who we might become. I've even brokered a ceasefire with remnants of Flame, believe it or not. I've also extended an invitation to some of our allies, and it should come as no surprise that you and your guild are at the top of that list. It would be my privilege to host a "champion" of your renown.
After all, who else can say they have an Elder Dragon at their command?
—Yours sincerely, |
- Upon reading the letter
- <Character name>: Rytlock, I just got an invitation to a...party of some kind. From—
- Rytlock Brimstone: From Bangar? Mine was a summons. Real official.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Been ages since the last gathering of the Legions, and that one...uh. Pretty bold, even by his standards.
- Rytlock Brimstone: But I don't have much of a choice. When your imperator says jump—
- If charr:
- <Character name>: You ask how high. Believe me, I get it.
- Otherwise:
- <Character name>: You ask how high?
- Rytlock Brimstone: Right. If this one's as rough as the last, they could use a hand keeping a lid on things.
- If charr:
- <Character name>: They told me the same stories when I was in the fahrar. I'm with you.
- Otherwise:
- <Character name>: Well. I'm in.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Great. Meet you at the Black Citadel. We'll catch our ride there.
In the Black Citadel[edit]
- Braham Eirsson: You sure, Gorrik? It's bound to get rowdy. "Four Charr Legions, hundreds of barrels of ale. And Braham."
- Gorrik: Hm... No. No, no. I can't pass up an opportunity for this kind of data.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Commander.
- <Character name>: This is all of us? Bangar invited the whole Pact, didn't he?
- Rytlock Brimstone: Kas and Jory are on the way. Otherwise...
- Gorrik: Taimi's working on her treatise. "The Elder Dragons Reconsidered." She insisted I should go...live a little.
- Gorrik: To be clear: I'm attending only for the chance to study the local fauna. I will not be participating in any revelry.
- Braham Eirsson: Hey, my invite promised a party so legendary we'd be remembered in song without even having to die.
- Marjory Delaqua: How do you say no to that?
- <Character name>: Kas! Jory!
- Marjory Delaqua: Long time no see, Commander. Thought you might turn up.
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: We heard Imperator Ruinbringer offered amnesty to the Flame Legion. I wanted to see it with my own eyes.
- Marjory Delaqua: Who doesn't like a goodwill mission?
- Rytlock Brimstone: Then let's get going. We won't want to miss whatever kickoff spectacle the old man's got planned.
- Talking to your allies
- <Character name>: Kas, it's been a while...
- Lady Kasmeer Meade: Elona was hard. Kralkatorrik left a lot of misery behind. If you've lost the thing you lean on, that much ugliness is...
- Marjory Delaqua: It changes you. But we're working through it.
- Rytlock Brimstone: If you say so.
- Marjory Delaqua: Look, enough gloom and doom. It really is good to see you all. I mean—Braham has hair again!
- Braham Eirsson: I have hair again!
- Marjory Delaqua: Let's collect on some well-earned R&R.
In Grothmar Valley[edit]
- At the start of the instance
- Blood Legion Captain: Tribune Brimstone. You and your guests are to wait here for your escort. Orders from Tribune Stoneglow.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Who's our escort?
- Blood Legion Captain: Tribune Stoneglow.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Oh.
- Crecia Stoneglow: Brimstone.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Surprised?
- Crecia Stoneglow: No—I'm the one who told him to invite you. But what are you thinking, bringing that creature here with you?
- Rytlock Brimstone: You mean...Braham?
- Crecia Stoneglow: The Elder Dragon. One of our scouts spotted it doing...something to the old Brand scars just south of here.
- Crecia Stoneglow: What are its orders?
- <Character name>: Aurene doesn't take orders from us. As for the Brand scars—we believe she's purifying them, for lack of a better word.
- Gorrik: The process is entirely benevolent.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Bottom line: there's nothing to worry about. You got my word on that, Cre.
- Crecia Stoneglow: We'll table it for now. Come on. You're late for the opening ceremony, and Bangar won't start without you.
- Marjory Delaqua: I could use a drink, Catch up later.
- Braham Eirsson: You're going to miss the start of the party.
- Marjory Delaqua: Yes. I am. Blood, teeth, guts. Very charr. Or so I've heard.
- Gorrik: Uh...I think I'm going to go track down my research krewe. Make sure they're properly oriented.
- While following Crecia
- Rytlock Brimstone: I take it things are a little tense around here.
- Crecia Stoneglow: If by tense you mean balanced on the head of a pin.
- Crecia Stoneglow: I'm up to my horns in imperators, refugees, cubs, your people, four legions...
- <Character name>: Sounds more like a political summit than a celebration.
- Crecia Stoneglow: That's by design. Not that killing Kralkatorrik isn't a pretty damn good reason to celebrate.
- Rytlock Brimstone: So, uh—we kinda blew through introductions back there.
- If Blood Legion charr:
- Crecia Stoneglow: Braham Eirsson of Cragstead, and Blood Legions' own Pact Commander. I've got dossiers on all of you.
- Otherwise:
- Crecia Stoneglow: Braham Eirsson of Cragstead, and the Pact Commander. I've got dossiers on all of you.
- Rytlock Brimstone: And this is Tribune Crecia Stoneglow. Bangar's head of security. We're, uh...
- Crecia Stoneglow: Old friends.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Very.
- Rytlock Brimstone: So—how is he?
- Crecia Stoneglow: Bangar's still Bangar. For whatever that's worth to you.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Wasn't talking about Bangar.
- Crecia Stoneglow: Oh... Well, you'll see for yourself.
- Crecia Stoneglow: These are the strongest and bravest of the Legions. The very best of us.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Flame too, huh? Bangar's letter took all the credit for that, but I recognize your handiwork when I see it.
- Crecia Stoneglow: Follow me. You have reserved seats. He won't want you to miss anything.
- During Bangar's speech
- If Blood Legion charr:
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Ah, our honored guests have arrived! A special homecoming for the Pact commander. And with Tribune Brimstone in tow.
- Otherwise:
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Ah, our honored guests have finally arrived! And with Tribune Brimstone in tow.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Here we go.
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Now that we're all here: Brothers and sisters of the Legions! Let Tyria hear you!
- (The audience roars).
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Yes! An enemy of the charr is dead! Let the world feel our vicious joy!
- (The audience roars).
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Welcome to the Blood Legion Homelands! Welcome to this historic celebration!
- Bangar Ruinbringer: I've brought you all together. Blood!
- (The Blood stands roar).
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Iron!
- (The Iron stands roar).
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Ash!
- (The Ash stands roar).
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Even Flame, now that they've finally come to their senses.
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Because we are charr first. And there is no greater force than our combined ranks.
- Bangar Ruinbringer: I've led generations into bloody battle, but I've never seen such fearsome promise as I do now. Today.
- Bangar Ruinbringer: If I weren't Bangar Ruinbringer, I would tremble.
- Bangar Ruinbringer: It's time to celebrate our ferocity, our fury, and the future we'll carve out. Together.
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Today, we are—
- Iron Legion Engineer/Marksman: Thirsty! Get on with it!
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Was that one of mine? Interrupt me again and I'll have you killed!
- Bangar Ruinbringer: And what's a celebration without a little bloodshed?
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Behold: the last Branded, bastard offspring of Kralkatorrik.
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Here to slay the beast in gladiatorial combat...
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Our newest centurion, one of Blood Legion's best and brightest: Ryland Steelcatcher!
- Rytlock Brimstone: It's— Whoa. He's got...big.
- Crecia Stoneglow: Cubs do that. Especially when you're not watching.
- <Character name>: You know him?
- Rytlock Brimstone: Yeah. I know him. He's—
- Bangar Ruinbringer: NOW WHO'S READY FOR SOME VIOLENCE?
- Braham Eirsson: What is that—a devourer? Three on one? Not much of a challenge.
- Crecia Stoneglow: It's not about challenge. It's about catharsis.
- Crecia Stoneglow: He's good, isn't he?
- Rytlock Brimstone: He's not bad.
- Ryland Steelcatcher: (war cry)
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Outstanding, Steelcatcher! Way to earn that promotion.
- Bangar Ruinbringer: The stain of Kralkatorrik is wiped from Tyria forever.
- (The sound of thunder begins.)
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Never again will—
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Okay, what the hell is that?
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Ryland! You ain't done yet, kiddo!
- Braham Eirsson: Ooh! Now that's a challenge for a couple charr.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Maybe even a bit too much.
- Crecia Stoneglow: You're right. But we can't upend the ceremony. We need—
- Crecia Stoneglow: The harpoons. We'll tie the creature down and let Ryland finish the job.
- Rytlock Brimstone: On it.
- Crecia Stoneglow: Assist only, Rytlock.
- If attacking anyway:
- Crecia Stoneglow: Commander! Disengage! Leave that to Ryland! Focus on tying it down!
- Rytlock Brimstone: C'mon. Get on those harpoons!
- Bangar Ruinbringer: All right, quit playing around. Fight like charr! Tear 'em apart!
- Crecia Stoneglow: Get in there, Blood! Lock it down!
- Smodur the Unflinching: To arms, Iron Legion! These devourers are no match for us!
- Malice Swordshadow: Strike quickly, Ash Legion! Use every trick we've got!
- Efram Greetsglory: Flame Legion! Rearguard! Protect the other legions and clear the stands!
- Bangar Ruinbringer: All right! Grand finale! Steelcatcher, you ready?
- Ryland Steelcatcher: Ready!
- Bangar Ruinbringer: On my mark! Three! Two!
- <Character name>: Oh no. Aurene...
- Bangar Ruinbringer: (laugh) How's that for spectacle, friends? Little surprise from the Pact commander and yours truly to kick off the celebrations!
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Let's hear it for those fireworks!
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Big thanks to everyone who made it possible.
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Now then—there's mountains of food to eat and gallons of ale to drink. Let's get to it!
- Rytlock Brimstone: Wasn't expecting that. Don't think he was either. We'd...better check in with Crecia.
- Talking to Crecia and Bangar
- Bangar Ruinbringer: You know, Champion, when I invited you here, I figured you'd come armed—as befits a military leader.
- If Blood Legion charr:
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Didn't think you'd point your heaviest artillery at your own legion, though. Not very politic, is it.
- Otherwise:
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Didn't think you'd point your heaviest artillery at us, though. Not very politic, is it.
- <Character name>: Aurene's not a weapon. She's taken a personal interest in repairing Kralkatorrik's damage.
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Your apology could use some work.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Commander doesn't have anything to apologize for. Aurene does what she wants.
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Rytlock. Still talking out of turn, huh?
- Rytlock Brimstone: Sir.
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Sure was a sight. I'll give you that. I can appreciate why you'd keep it around.
- <Character name>: Her.
- Bangar Ruinbringer: Her. Rytlock, we'll talk later. Just the two of us. Try not to embarrass me out there.
- Crecia Stoneglow: Dragons... We've all lost people. Some of us—entire warbands. He's on edge. We're all on edge.
- Crecia Stoneglow: A thousand well-armed warriors with short tempers on edge.
- <Character name>: She was trying to help.
- Crecia Stoneglow: Whether or not your dragon follows orders, you're still her representative here, Commander.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Charr have never not had enemies. With Kralkatorrik gone...
- Crecia Stoneglow: The best thing you can do is be seen. Show the legions you're not a threat.
- <Character name>: I will.
- Rytlock Brimstone: I'll make the rounds too. See what I can do.
- Talking to Braham and Ryland
- Braham Eirsson: Oh hey, Commander. Rytlock. Hell of a fight, right? You gotta meet this guy.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Yeah. Good job, kid. Might want to watch how you drop your left though.
- Ryland Steelcatcher: Thanks. I'll keep that in mind.
- Braham Eirsson: Ryland promised to show me around this shindig. We're going drinkin'. Wanna come?
- <Character name>: Maybe later, Braham. First I need to smooth some ruffled fur.
- Braham Eirsson: You're such a diplomat.
- Rytlock Brimstone: You're here as a member of Dragon's Watch, too. Don't forget it.
- Braham Eirsson: Hmm...
- Listening to the legions
- Ash Legion Scout (1): So, what's the game? What are we after?
- Ash Legion Scout (2): Secrets, of course. Rules are: no torture, no murder, no monetary compensation.
- Ash Legion Scout (1): Deal. Double points for Flame.
- Flame Legion Axe Fiend: I hate beggin' for their table scraps.
- Flame Legion Fire Shaman: What do you expect? At least Bangar believes us when we say we want peace. To give us refuge...
- Flame Legion Axe Fiend: Sure. And the price he demanded was only our cubs.
- Flame Legion Fire Shaman: Better they be Blood Legion and alive than Flame Legion and dead.
- Blood Legion Soldier (1): What are you starin' at? There's a cease-fire here. Nobody's gonna attack us straight out.
- Blood Legion Soldier (2): I'd like a little extra fun of the after-dark variety. You can tell a lot about what someone's into by the weapons they carry.
- Blood Legion Soldier (1): Nice axe.
- Blood Legion Soldier (3): They used that one to kill Kralkatorrik. What'll they use it on next?
- Blood Legion Soldier (4): Whatever or whoever they want. What's gonna stop 'em?
- Iron Legion Engineer: How are we supposed to celebrate with that Elder Dragon terrorizing us?
- Iron Legion Soldier: Ruinbringer said it was part of the show.
- Iron Legion Engineer: Didn't feel like it. Felt like death swooping down from above.
