Walkthrough[edit]
- Assemble Dominion weapon
The parts can be found in the small hut beside Mistgate Graveyard in Petraj Overlook, guarded by a few Dominion foes if Petraj Overlook is under Dominion control or by Ash Legion individuals if controlled by United Legions. Review the notes to determine the correct sequence, then repeat it to complete the assembly. The colour code hinted at is sky means blue, and fire means red. The correct response is "Firing: red. Elevation: blue. Breach: green."
- Collect ordnance
Go to the green circled area underwater in Port Cascadia. To obtain the ordnance, interact with Sunken Submarines under the water. Your weapon skills will change; 4 of the skills will be an explosion, and 1 will be the ordnance. The order will be random. Press the ordnance icon correctly 5 times to recover it. If you press the explosion icon or don't choose anything, you will be knocked back and will need to restart the sequence. Obtain the ordnance from 3 submarines to complete this step.
# | Skill | Description | ||
---|---|---|---|---|
Extraction Success | Press the release clamps in the proper order to remove the ordnance. | |||
Extraction Fail | Press the release clamps in the proper order to remove the ordnance. |
- Strip vehicle parts
On the beach below and to the West of the Stone Root POI in Lighthouse Point there are 3 Dominion armored cars that need to be destroyed and parts salvaged from. Aside from mobility, these vehicles are not very difficult targets. Be aware of other Dominion forces wandering in the area, and try to avoid them, since they complicate the mission unnecessarily.
- Obtain flame core
Complete either Eliminate the Dominion and their Flame Shaman before the ritual is completed (80) or Defeat the Magma Effigy (80). This will spawn Effigy Scrap on the ground. Interact with it to obtain the flame core.

Dialogue[edit]
- Talking to Smodur the Unflinching
- Smodur the Unflinching: Ah, Commander. I've got new orders for you.
- <Character name>: "Orders."
- If Iron Legion charr:
- Smodur the Unflinching: Salvage and requisitions. If you have a problem with that, feel free to go crying to Crecia.
- Otherwise:
- Smodur the Unflinching: Salvage and requisitions. Not the most glamorous, but necessary if we're going to win this war.
- <Character name>: What are we salvaging?
- Smodur the Unflinching: We've crippled submarines off the port. Retrieve intact torpedoes for our ordnance cache. End any Dominion you encounter.
- If Iron Legion charr:
- Smodur the Unflinching: Also, we've seized plans for an enemy weapon. It needs to be assembled. Try to recall your training, if you can.
- Otherwise:
- Smodur the Unflinching: Also, we've seized plans for an enemy weapon. This may be a challenge, but you'll need to assemble it.
- Smodur the Unflinching: Once you manage that, I'll send someone to collect it.
- Rytlock Brimstone: We're supposed to be creating diversions—keeping Dominion attention on us instead of Malice.
- Smodur the Unflinching: You'll make plenty of noise, Brimstone. Destroy any enemy vehicles you come across and recover their parts.
- Smodur the Unflinching: Materiel often has far greater value than ranks on the ground. Gears over grunts, I like to say.
- Rytlock Brimstone: You say a lot.
- <Character name>: And after we're done with the salvage mission?
- Smodur the Unflinching: I'll share next steps when appropriate. Keep me apprised.
- Walking away
- Rytlock Brimstone: Cre's been dealing with that guy for months. Can't believe she hasn't throttled him.
- <Character name>: Well, she did work beside Bangar for years.
- Rytlock Brimstone: (grunts) Let's just get this done.
- Experimental Weapons Parts
- A note left on top of the weapon reads:
- "The researchers down there must be half asura, I can't make horns or tails out of this! Color code or not, all these parts just look like levers!"
- Keep reading the notes.
- "I just remember them saying 'Firing means Fire, elevate means to the Sky.' Burn me, is that code? Are they Iron or Ash Legion?" Those do sounds like instructions, however...
- Attempt to fix the weapon.
- There are three parts—firing lever, elevation crank, breach side—and three color-coded areas of the weapon.
- Firing: green. Elevation: blue. Breach: red.
- Firing: red. Elevation: blue. Breach: green.
- The parts fit together smoothly.
- Leave the weapon alone.
- Firing: red. Elevation: green. Breach: blue.
- Leave the weapon alone.
- Leave the weapon alone.
- Leave the weapon alone.
- <Character name>: Smodur, the Dominion weapon is functional.
- Smodur the Unflinching: That took you about as long as I thought it would. Carry on, Commander.
- Iron Legion Engineer: Thanks. We'll get it where it needs to go.
- At the Submerged Scrapyard
- Rytlock Brimstone: Careful. They've been knocked around a lot. I don't trust those torpedoes not to explode.
- Collecting all ordnance from submarines
- Rytlock Brimstone: Hey, Smodur, we've recovered the torpedoes.
- Smodur the Unflinching: Good to see you can work unsupervised.
- Rytlock Brimstone: We're allies, not lackeys.
- Smodur the Unflinching: You're a soldier in the field, Tribune. Do the job.
- Rytlock Brimstone: You can take that job and sh—
- <Character name>: We'll call you when the next task is done.
- After collecting the car parts
- <Character name>: Smodur, we've finished collecting the car parts.
- Smodur the Unflinching: Yes, I heard.
- Rytlock Brimstone: What are you gonna use all that scrap for, anyway?
- Smodur the Unflinching: It would take too long to explain it to you. Just worry about your mission.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Can't imagine why so many Iron keep jumping ship.
- Finishing all tasks
- Smodur the Unflinching: Commander, report to base. There's more to be done.
- <Character name>: Care to elaborate?
- Smodur the Unflinching: When you need to know.
- Talking to Smodur
- <Character name>: Smodur—
- Smodur the Unflinching: You need to be properly armed for your next assignment. Shaman, where's the crystal?
- Flame Legion Fire Shaman: Right next to you. It's not ready yet.
- Smodur the Unflinching: You were given a direct order. Since you don't have a conventional imperator, maybe you've forgotten what that means.
- Flame Legion Fire Shaman: Sir. Your orders were, and I quote, "...to add a Flame boost to Iron munitions." Priority one, you said.
- Flame Legion Fire Shaman: I haven't the time or the extra energy to power the crystal as well.
- Smodur the Unflinching: I need solutions, not excuses soldier.
- Flame Legion Fire Shaman: Give them the crystal as is. A flame core could complete the charging process.
- <Character name>: Where can we find on of those?
- Flame Legion Fire Shaman: A few of our shamans joined Dominion. They use the cores to fuel their burning effigies.
- Smodur the Unflinching: Excellent. You have your next mission. See to it, Commander.
- Flame Legion Fire Shaman
- Hail, Commander. Need something?
- I need to know more about this crystal.
- What exactly do you want to know?
- What am I looking for?
- You will require a flame core—it is the work of multiple shamans channeling their energy into a single source. It is used to fuel dangerous things, like effigies.
- Where could I find one?
- Look for any rituals by our enemies to summon flame effigies—and failing that, the effigies themselves. Even partly expended flame cores should work.
- How are effigies created?
- Usually they were crafted by many shamans over days, but our betrayers are desperate to swell their fighting forces. I have heard they are attempting to craft them much faster.
- That sounds dangerous. Does it work?
- I don't doubt they will be successful, but possibly at the expense of their own lives. Restraint...has never been an activity my people have prized.
- Why would they risk their own lives?
- Same reason we risk ours. They believe in the fight. Effigies can't be bargained or reasoned with. They don't feel pity or remorse or fear. It takes strength and—I hate to say it—bravery.
- I want to ask you something else. (same as "I need to know more about this crystal.")
- That sounds familiar—and scary.
- I want to ask you something else. (same as "I need to know more about this crystal.")
- Good-bye.
- I want to ask you something else. (same as "I need to know more about this crystal.")
- Good-bye.
- I want to ask you something else. (same as "I need to know more about this crystal.")
- Okay, I'll get to that.
- I want to ask you something else. (same as "I need to know more about this crystal.")
- That's all I needed to know.
- What exactly is this crystal?
- I am forbidden by Smodur to give details. "Need to know only," he said. I respect you, Commander, but I cannot ignore a direct order.
- I understand. Let me ask you something else, then. (same as "I need to know more about this crystal.")
- Hm. That's reassuring... I need to go.
- I have more questions.
- I'll answer what I can.
- I want to ask you about this crystal mission. (same as "I need to know more about this crystal.")
- How can I help out there?
- Your presence here is already heartening to the troops, but I suspect they could use your aid in the field. Your efforts will not go unnoticed.
- I had another question for you.
- Thanks, I'll get right on it.
- What are you and the other shamans up to?
- On Smodur's orders, we have been using our affinity with flame to infuse the Iron Legion ammunition—mostly for siege weapons—with literal firepower.
- Isn't that what the Flame Legion did to help the dredge?
- That is a shameful episode of our history. But back then we infused the weapons themselves. It carried...a greater cost.
- What kind of cost?
- The kind that kills. Our women were the most vulnerable. They expended their powers to infuse the weapons, and often...expended their lives as well.
- That's awful.
- So many bright young charr. All their potential. Gone. Efram was not the imperator yet, and was outspoken in his resistance to the Molten Alliance. We can try, but we'll never erase that mark.
- I understand regret. Trust me... May I ask you something else?
- I've heard enough.
- Maybe we should change the subject.
- That's...terrible. I think I've heard enough.
- I have another question for you.
- Say no more.
- I have another question for you.
- Well, damn. Sounds impressive, but I have to go.
- Actually, I have somewhere else to be.
- Actually, I have to go.
- I have more questions. (same as above)
- Sorry, I can't talk right now.
- After defeating a Flame effigy or stopping a ritual
- Rytlock Brimstone: You seeing that glowing rubble?
- Effigy Scrap
- A twisted pile of metal and scrap.
- Look for a flame core.
- In the wreckage sits a glowing orb. It is warm to the touch.
- Pick up the core and leave.
- Leave the scrap alone.
- Picking up the core
- <Character name>: Smodur, we've got a flame core.
- Smodur the Unflinching: Get it to the nearest munitions shaman ASAP. Time's coming when we'll need that crystal at full power.
If taking the core to the Fire Shaman at the Pavilion of the Legions:
- Flame Legion Fire Shaman
- You're back, and you have the flame core. Give it here and I'll infuse it.
- Here you go.
- It's done. Hopefully that will please the Iron imperator. If he can be pleased.
- Thank you for all your help.
- It's done. Hopefully that will please the Iron imperator. If he can be pleased.
- Actually, I have to go.
Otherwise:
- Flame Legion Fire Shaman
- Commander, yes? How may this one aid you?
- I need this crystal infused with the power of this core. Smodur's orders.
- That is...unusual, but I will look into it. I know better than to question Imperator Smodur. One moment.
- All right.
- There. It is...done. If this works, put in a good word for me with Smodur. If it doesn't, well... Ahem. Excuse me, I need a moment to catch my breath.
- Sure... thank you.
- Actually, I'll be right back.
- Nothing right now, thanks.
- After charging the crystal
- If charged at the Pavilion of the Legions:
- Smodur the Unflinching: Commander, once the crystal's charged, report to me for your target.
- <Character name>: Where are we headed?
- Smodur the Unflinching: A traitor gave Dominion all they need to build a weapon we can't afford to leave in their hands.
- Smodur the Unflinching: I've got a location on their supply bunker. Make your way there and await instructions.
- Otherwise:
- Smodur the Unflinching: Commander, do you have that charged crystal yet?
- <Character name>: Got it. What does it do?
- Smodur the Unflinching: Gives us back an edge. Iron materiel fell under Dominion control. Now they have a weapon we can't afford to leave in their hands.
- Smodur the Unflinching: I've got the location of their supply bunker. Make your way there and await instructions.
- Interacting with the bunker
- Unknown Voice: (indecipherable echo)
- <Character name>: Did you hear a voice?
- Rytlock Brimstone: Not sure. Thought he said this was a supply bunker.
- Commander: Smodur, what exactly does this crystal do again?
- Smodur the Unflinching: Destroy Dominion's ability to use Iron resources against us. As I said.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Yeah, but how?
- Smodur the Unflinching: With a really big boom. You wanted a distraction, this is it. Stop wasting time and drop the grenade.
- <Character name>: I don't like this. Something feels off.
- If Iron Legion charr:
- Smodur the Unflinching: Your imperator has given a direct order. Will you go against your legion...Commander?
- Otherwise:
- Smodur the Unflinching: This is war, Commander. We do what's necessary, or we lose.
- Vent
- A stream of smoke pours out of a large vent.
- Drop the crystal down the vent.
- Refuse to drop the crystal down the vent.
- Leave it alone.
- If you choose "Drop the crystal down the vent":
- <Character name>: Everyone out of the line of fire. NOW!
- <Character name>: If we let Dominion keep the tech, the legions will lose more lives.
- If you choose "Refuse to drop the crystal down the vent":
- Rytlock Brimstone: It's the best cover we can give Cre and Malice.
- Unknown Voice: (pained dying scream)
- <Character name>: That was more than just a grenade!
- Rytlock Brimstone: The way in has gotta be below us somewhere. Let's go!
- Entering the bunker
- Rytlock Brimstone: What have we done? What have we done?
- Rytlock Brimstone: This is not how we save the charr.
- <Character name>: Smodur, the supply depot was fully staffed...
- Smodur the Unflinching: Yes. People are a resource.
- Rytlock Brimstone: You bastard—
- Smodur the Unflinching: There's no time to be squeamish! We need to get serious if we're going to win.
- If charr:
- <Character name>: This can't be who we are. Not again.
- If sylvari:
- <Character name>: It isn't winning if we become monsters in the process.
- Otherwise:
- <Character name>: If we become the monster, we've already lost.
- Rytlock Brimstone: I'll check the bodies. Could be survivors.
- Charr Corpse
- The corpse of a charr impaled on a spike.
- Leave.
- Talking to Rytlock before examining all the evidence
- Rytlock Brimstone: Give me some space, Commander. I'll let you know when I've got something for you.
- You got it.
- Strange Device
- The corpses look unarmed. The uniforms are military, but nothing else makes them seem like soldiers.
- Look for more evidence.
- Supply Crate
- Assuming that ozone that you smell didn't come from the crystal bomb, it seems that this was an active workshop, not a supplies barracks.
- Look for more evidence.
- Damaged Invention
- The inventions scattered around the room don't look like any you've seen before—this might have been a research and development group.
- Look for more evidence.
- Odd Schematics
- From what you can see among the chaos, a lot of the inventions looked well-structured and nearly complete...something you imagine Smodur would not appreciate.
- Look for more evidence.
- I better check in with Rytlock and see what he found. (Once all evidence has been analyzed)
- After examining the evidence
- Rytlock Brimstone: Commander, there's no one left alive.
- <Character name>: Everything I'm seeing says this is more than just a supply bunker.
- Rytlock Brimstone: Far as I can tell, they were doing some sort of R & D. Smodur wasn't lying about that at least.
- <Character name>: Doesn't make me feel any better.
- Rytlock Brimstone: This won't either. I recognize her—she's one of Malice's personal guards. And she's carrying the Ash Imperator's sigil.
- <Character name>: Is that an order to defect? Could Malice be playing both sides?
- If Ash Legion charr:
- Rytlock Brimstone: She's Ash. No offense. We've got to warn Cre.
- Otherwise:
- Rytlock Brimstone: She's Ash. We've got to warn Cre.
- <Character name>: Let's not jump to conclusions. Crecia?
- Crecia Stoneglow: Great timing, Commander. Malice got that message to Ryland. He's agreed to another parley. Meet us at the hidden base.
- Rytlock Brimstone: We can't talk about this over comms. I don't trust Malice. And I sure as hell don't trust Smodur.
- <Character name>: We'll pull Crecia aside after. Let's handle Ryland first.

Notes[edit]
Trivia[edit]
- The Flame Legion Fire Shaman's statement that "Effigies can't be bargained or reasoned with. They don't feel pity or remorse or fear." is a paraphrased quote from the 1984 film The Terminator.
