One of Havroun Weibe's shamans, Hallveig, has reported that the Raven Sanctum has recently been taken over by the Fraenir of Jormag. Raven Shaman Hallveig is looking for volunteers to enter the sanctum and cleanse it of this menace.

Walkthrough[edit]

This strike mission acts as a good entry point for players tackling instanced content for the first time. Players will be introduced to the concept of 10-player content in a low-pressure environment and can then attempt the Shiverpeaks Pass and Voice of the Fallen and Claw of the Fallen strike missions, which are of similar difficulty. Due to their relative ease of difficulty, these three strike missions are collectively referred to by the community as the "IBS EZ3" strike missions.

Fraenir of Jormag[edit]

Health: 12,387,060
Enrage Timer: 10 minutes
Enrage Effect: Defeats all players
Fixation Mechanic: None

Healing and boons are proximity and priority-based, so it is important to stay near the group be in range of receiving them. Swiftness.png Swiftness is one of the few boons not removed when engaging a boss in instanced content and can thus be applied to the group beforehand.

Players with the Essence of Valor mastery can attack the nearby pylon to collect orbs to gain the Power of Valor.png Power of Valor effect. This grants players the  Night Terror.png Night Terror special action key to deal significant damage to the boss and its defiance bar.

Phase 1 (Fraenir of Jormag)[edit]

100% – 75%

The encounter begins once players near the boss, who possesses the following skills:

Skill Notes
Dagger Strike Frontal cone strike with a fan of ice that inflicts Vulnerability.png1 Vulnerability. Only used in melee range.
Flare of Ice Three sets of four ice shard AoEs that deal moderate damage. Each set of AoEs is larger and further away from the Fraenir than the previous set but deal the same damage.
Frostbite Aura Pulses low damage every three seconds.
Frozen Missile Targets a random player with a red arrow and a timer above their head. Upon expiry, a frozen missile is fired and inflicts Launch.png Launch. This is susceptible to projectile-related skills, such as projectile destruction and reflects
Raven Leap Leap to a distant target and inflict medium damage and Blinded.png Blinded.
Torrent of Ice
Icequake
Shatter
Ice blocks shower the arena, inflicting moderate damage and Frostbite (Bitterfrost Frontier).png Frozen on-hit.
Players with this effect will be trapped in an Ice Shard and take periodic damage. Destroying this shard either with  Water Fist.png Struggle to Escape or other allied skills will free the trapped player.
The boss then leaps to the center and unleashes a shock wave, shattering all ice shards and inflicting Knockdown.png Knockdown. The shockwave can be blocked, evaded, jumped, or mitigated with Stability.png Stability.

The boss casts Torrent of Ice at the start and throughout the fight. The center of the arena next to the boss is an easy-to-reach safespot that avoids this attack. Because the Fraenir can leap away to distant targets, players should ideally stack together to prevent him from moving too much.

Players targeted by the Frozen Missile attack should ideally orient this attack away from the group.

The Fraenir leaps away at 75% health then summons an Icebrood Construct in the center of the arena.

Phase 2 (Icebrood Construct)[edit]

Health: 8,258,040
100% – 70%

The Construct uses the following skills:

Skill Notes
Frostbite Aura Pulses low damage every three seconds.
Ice Arm Swing Sweeps its right arm across half the arena, inflicting medium damage and Knockback.png Knockback.
Ice Shock Wave Slams its left arm down and unleashes a shockwave. Several orange AoEs also spawn, each inflicting Chilled.png Chilled.
Seismic Crush Unlocks its defiance bar and channels a slam with its left arm and several orange AoEs.
Failure to break the bar unleashes a shock wave that inflicts Knockdown.png Knockdown.The bar does not regenerate.
Breaking the bar will interrupt the shock wave and inflict Daze.png Daze to the Construct.

Players should apply Stability.png Stability to negate the disabling effects of the Construct's attacks.

The defiance bar unlocks during Seismic Crush. Although breaking the bar interrupts the shock wave, it may be preferable to not break the bar if the Construct is nearing 70% health. The animation of the interruption is long and can get the boss animation-locked when it becomes invulnerable at 70% health. This delays the animation that would normally occur at 70% health, refreshing the timer of the Determined.png Determined effect on the boss.

70% – 0%

The Construct becomes invulnerable as it loses an arm, revealing the Fraenir hidden inside. Afterwards, it gains the following skills:

Skill Notes
Frigid Fusillade Players on the left side of the construct will be targeted timed orange circles that inflict a moderate amount of damage after a delay. This can occur up to three times in quick succession. This can be negated with projectile-related skills.
Ice Flail Sweeps its right arm across half the arena, inflicting medium damage and Knockback.png Knockback, and freeing Veteran Icebrood Elementals trapped in ice shards.

Overlapping AoEs during the Frigid Fusillade attack can deal significant damage. Projectile destruction and reflects are thus preferred to minimize the damage pressure during this phase.

Players can hit the Veteran Icebrood Elementals freed from the Ice Flail attack. Each hit generally unlocks the  Night Terror.png Night Terror special action key, greatly increasing damage output if used multiple times.

Phase 3 (Fraenir of Jormag)[edit]

25% – 0%

After defeating the Construct, the Fraenir returns with 25% health remaining. This phase is identical to the first phase. There still may be some Icebrood Elementals remaining, allowing players to hit them to use the respective special action skill for more damage.
