Strike Mission: Whisper of Jormag is the fifth Strike Mission introduced into the game.
Getting there[edit]
Players must own the Path of Fire expansion to join.
Players can select to join either a Public (only available when it is a Daily Strike Mission) or Squad (private) version of the instance. The Public version cannot start with less than 5 players and prevents new players from joining once the boss is engaged. The Squad version does not have the same restrictions but requires a raid-mode (10 player) squad to join.

Walkthrough[edit]
This strike mission is the next progression after players complete the Shiverpeaks Pass, Voice of the Fallen and Claw of the Fallen and Fraenir of Jormag strike missions, which are collectively referred to by the community as the "IBS EZ3" strike missions. As with the Boneskinner strike mission, this fight is significantly more difficult. These two encounters along with the EZ3 strike missions are collectively referred to as the "IBS Fast 5" strike missions due to their relatively quick completion speed compared to the Cold War and the Forging Steel strike missions.

General[edit]
This encounter has decent healing pressure and heavily punishes players that fail certain mechanics. It is thus recommended to have at least two dedicated healers, especially for inexperienced or unorganized groups. There are little to no conditions involved in this fight. Players with the respective essence manipulation mastery can attack the nearby pylon to collect orbs for either the Power of Resilience, Power of Valor, or Power of Vigilance effect, depending on the week. This grants players either the Spirit Nova, Night Terror, or Shattered Psyche special action key to deal significant damage to the boss and its defiance bar.
After readying up, players must take the resulting portal then investigate the ice formation to start the encounter.
Phase 1 (100% – 75%)[edit]
The Whisper of Jormag will face one of the cardinal directions and periodically rotate between each of them. It uses the following skills:
Skill | Notes |

Frostbite Aura | Pulses low damage every three seconds. |
Ice Shatter | Throws out three ice chunks in front of itself, leaving behind a damaging field. The initial AoE telegraph does no damage. Afterwards, the boss may rotate and face a new direction. |
Ice Tempest | Four ice tempests emerge from the boss then move outwards and spin around. |
Lethal Coalescence (Green) |
Targets a random player with a green circle that inflicts massive damage to all players within the circle after a delay. Each player standing within greatly reduces the damage. |
Spreading Ice (Spread) |
All players are targeted with an orange circle that explodes after a delay, dealing significant damage when standing in overlapping AoEs. Blocks and invulnerability do not work, however evades do work. Players can dodge into the arena boundary to avoid the attack while remaining in the same position. |
Viscous Slam | Inflicts Knockback to nearby players then slams its staff and launches all players into the air, spawning an icy spike underneath their original positions after a delay. Players should either activate their glider or fall to a different spot to mitigate this damage. |
After the initial Vicious Slam, the boss follows a fixed, repeating attack pattern: Ice Tempest → Ice Shatter → Vicious Slam → Spreading Ice → Ice Shatter → Vicious Slam → Lethal Coalescence → 2x Ice Shatter.
Upon reaching 75% health, the boss becomes invulnerable then freezes and teleports each player to an isolated platform. This platform inflicts the Brain Freeze effect to players every second, increasing the severity of the pulsing damage on this platform. A Veteran Rimewhisper Doppelganger of the player spawns on both the main and isolated platforms. Defeating either doppelgangers returns players to the main platform. Breaking their defiance bar inflicts Stun and Exposed, but can generally be ignored given their low health.

Phase 2 (75% – 25%)[edit]
This phase is largely the same aside from two new skills:

Chains of Frost (Chains) |
Three random players get a timer above their head, creating a chain between them and the boss upon expiry. Each chain inflicts rapid damage to anyone that touches them, requiring tethered players to move predictably and stay still. The damage extends from the player to within the boss hitbox. |
Frigid Vortex (CC) |
Unlocks its defiance bar and inflicts the Frigid Vortex effect to all players, which pulses medium damage every second. |
Players must take care not to run the chains through other players and avoid standing within the boss hitbox. Tethered players must also be careful when gliding or dropping down during the Vicious Slam attack. The chains expire after some time before a new set occurs. The boss will also periodically cast the Frigid Vortex, requiring players to prioritize breaking the bar over reviving downed players to interrupt the pulsing damage.
The boss follows a fixed, repeating attack pattern: Chains of Frost → Ice Tempest → Spreading Ice → Chains of Frost → Vicious Slam → Lethal Coalescence → Chains of Frost → Vicious Slam → Frigid Vortex.
As with before, players are teleported and must defeat their doppelganger once the boss reaches 25% health. The boss returns once all have been defeated.
Phase 3 (25% – 0%)[edit]
The Whisper of Jormag unleashes a shock wave that Launches players, then showers the arena with ice shards. The final phase introduces three more skills:

Slithering Rime (Orbs) |
Rapidly spins and launches multiple orbs of ice that explode upon impact. These can be body-blocked by any entity, such as Summon Flesh Wurm if properly positioned on top of the boss prior to this attack. |
Of note, each boss attack occurs in quicker succession where they may overlap. If the orbs from Slithering Rime are not blocked by an entity, players should pay extra caution in avoiding the center and sidestepping these orbs.
The Whisper of Jormag is silenced upon reaching 0% health.
