Dialogue[edit]
Open World[edit]
Countess Anise Summoned to the Throne Hero of Shaemoor By the Will and Command of Queen Jennah of Kryta, you are hereby formally summoned to attend the royal presence. Make all haste to her throne room in Divinity's Reach, and you will be welcomed there. Until next we meet, may the Six Gods watch over you in all things.—Countess Anise |
At Royal Palace[edit]
Cinematic upon approaching Jennah:
- <Character name>: Your Majesty—Captain Thackeray. I was summoned?
- Logan Thackeray: Indeed, and I'm glad you're here, my friend. Kryta needs you once more.
- <Character name>: You know I'll do anything I can to help. What's the problem, Captain?
- Logan Thackeray: There's a swamp in southern Kryta called Lychcroft Mere. The area's been hit hard by our war with the centaurs.
- Logan Thackeray: Most of the lumber there goes to build catapults and defenses, so it’s common practice to use strips of marsh moss instead of firewood on cold nights.
- Logan Thackeray: However, the Seraph have brought me recent reports that Risen undead—servants of Orr—have been seen in the swamp.
- <Character name>: Risen? The dragon's minions? If they're in the swamp, anyone who goes in there would be in great danger.
- Queen Jennah: Precisely. The three Orders of Tyria are pushing to be involved but can't agree on a plan. While they bicker, my people are at risk.
- Queen Jennah: Hero, I have summoned you to act as Advocate of the Crown. I want you to meet with the orders and take charge of the situation.
- Logan Thackeray: You‘ll be dealing with the Vigil, the Durmand Priory, and the Order of Whispers. All three specialize in fighting Zhaitan and its minions.
- Logan Thackeray: However, they all use different methods. It'll be your job to decide which plan is best—and then act on it.
- Queen Jennah: You will have the full authority of the crown to handle this situation. Will you accept this task, Hero?
- <Character name>: Your Majesty, I will. I'm honored to serve Kryta and my queen.
- Queen Jennah: Thank you. Go, and meet with the Order Representatives as soon as possible. I look forward to your report.
Talking to NPCs:
- Logan Thackeray: Thanks for taking on this problem, friend. I know you'll do what's best for Kryta.
- Can you tell me what you know about the Orders of Tyria?
- Absolutely. Do you want to know about the Vigil, the Durmand Priory, or the Order of Whispers?
- Tell me about the Vigil.
- The Vigil was founded by a charr named Almorra Soulkeeper. Her warband was corrupted by the crystal dragon, and she was forced to kill them all.
- She may be a charr, but I can empathize. What happened then?
- Almorra swore to defeat the dragons. She resigned her commission in the Blood Legion and started a worldwide volunteer militia: the Vigil.

- Tell me about the other orders.
- Thanks for the information. I'd better get started. Good-bye.

- Thanks for the information. I'd better get started. Good-bye.
- Tell me about the Durmand Priory.
- The Durmand Priory are a group of scholars and relic-hunters. They possess massive knowledge on arcane lore, as well as the largest library in the world.
- What can scholars do to stop the dragons?
- Don't let their demeanor fool you—these are tough, shrewd people with a mission to discover the dragons' origins, purpose, and weaknesses.

- Thanks for the information. I'd better get started. Good-bye.
- Tell me about the Order of Whispers.
- The Order of Whispers move in shadows and deal in secrets. Their network of covert agents uses thievery, blackmail, and assassination to achieve their goals.
- They sound pretty shady. Are they reliable?
- They seem to be, yes. Luckily for us, the Order recognizes the threat posed by Zhaitan and the others. I can't say I trust them, but I respect them.

- What do you know about the situation in Lychcroft Mere?
- Village children go into the swamp to get firewood. If the Risen are in there, do everything you can to get theose[sic] innocents to safety.
- Understood. I need to ask you another question, if you don't mind.
- I will, Logan. You can count on me.
- I think I have everything I need to get started. I'll let you know how it goes.
- Countess Anise: I'm glad you're here, Advocate. It's imperative that you discover what's happening in Lychcroft Mere. Lives depend on it.
- Was it your influence that convinced the Queen to name me Advocate?
- I simply ensured that Queen Jennah knew you were loyal and capable.
- Tell me, what do you know about the representatives of the three Orders of Tyria? (Leads to "What can you tell me about the people representing the three Orders of Tyria?" below)
- I'm glad you think so highly of me, Countess.
- What can you tell me about the people representing the three Orders of Tyria?
- Quite a bit. Which draws your interest, pet?
- Who will be representing the Durmand Priory?
- Your contact for Durmand Priory will be Josir. He's a scholar and an explorer, though a bit... eccentric. You'll see.
- I'd like to ask another question, if you don't mind.
- Thank you for the information. I'll head to Lychcroft Mere.
- Who stands for the Vigil?
- Hiroki will represent the Vigil. She was once a member of the Ebon Vanguard, and continues to be a stalwart ally to Kryta.
- I'd like to ask another question, if you don't mind.
- Thank you for the information. I'll head to Lychcroft Mere.
- Order of Whispers? Why does that name seem familiar?
- The Order of Whispers dates back to ancient Elona. Ihan is their emissary. He might tell you more—if you know how to ask.
- I'd like to ask another question, if you don't mind.
- Thank you for the information. I'll head to Lychcroft Mere.
- Thank you for the information. I'll head to Lychcroft Mere.
- Thank you for the information. I'll head to Lychcroft Mere.
- Queen Jennah: Logan and the Countess Anise speake[sic] highly of you. I am confident that you will protect the people of Lychcroft Mere.
- Thank you, Your Majesty. Can you tell me anything else about the area?
- Lychcroft Mere is in the Kessex Hills. You'll be meeting with the Orders at the tradecamp south of Viathan Lake.
- May I ask you another question?
- I'll hurry there. Thank you, Your Majesty.
- Your Majesty, what can you tell me about the Orders?
- The Orders study the Elder Dragons. So long as they stay out of politics, I allow them to operate in Kryta. Is there one in particular you want to know about?
- What can you tell me about the Vigil's mission?
- The Vigil is a militant order, dedicated to fighting the dragons. They offer charity and protection to all people of Tyria.
- May I ask another question?
- I see. Thank you, Your Majesty.
- What do I need to know about the Durmand Priory?
- Priory scholars saved the libraries of Lion's Arch when Orr rose. They study the dragons in the hopes of finding a weakness.
- May I ask another question?
- I see. Thank you, Your Majesty.
- What is the Order of Whispers?
- I've seen its mysterious agents acting covertly to help Tyria. I may not trust them, but I recgonize their contributions.
- May I ask another question?
- I see. Thank you, Your Majesty.
- I'll hurry to Lychcroft Mere. Thank you, Your Majesty.
- Will I see you again soon, Your Majesty?
- Sadly, it is not safe for me to leave Divinity's Reach. I trust Captain Logan to work with you in the field. Good luck, Advocate.
- May I ask another question?
- I'll hurry there. Thank you, Your Majesty.
- (if a Street Rat) It's an honor. I grew up on the streets, but even then, I wanted to do something more for my country.
- Although your birth was humble, Advocate, you have risen above it. You make Kryta proud.
- That's kind of you to say. May I ask another question?
- Thank you, Your Majesty. I'll try to make you proud.
- (if a Commoner) I've looked up at your palace all my life, Your Majesty. Thank you for letting me serve Kryta.
- Thank you for your service. My duty is to the common men and women of this kingdom. I pray that Dwayna guides me in their best interest.
- I'll pray for us both, Your Majesty. May I ask you another question?
- Thank you, Your Majesty. May the gods watch over us all.
- (if from the Nobility) During all years[sic] among your noble court, I've never been so honored as at this moment. Thank you, Your Majesty.
- I am pleased to see you take on the duties of your high birth, Advocate. You will do the nobility proud.
- It's my honor, Your Majesty. May I ask another question?
- I will do my best, your[sic] Majesty. May Dwayna watch over us all.
- I'll hurry there. Thank you, Your Majesty.
At Ireko Tradecamp[edit]
Talking to the child:
- Child: Wanna see my magic trick? Think of a number from one to ten and I'll use my magical powers to guess what it is.
- Okay. I pick seven.
- Don't say the number, dummy! Just think it.
- Okay. I'm thinking of seven.
- No! You really stink at this. Listen: just think of a number and don't say it out loud.
- Okay. I'm thinking of a number between six and eight.
- It's seven, isn't it?
- Okay. Good trick, kid. Someday you'll have to tell me how you did it.
- We'll have to finish this some other time. I have to run.
- All right, I've got a new number.
- I hope you can do math! Multiply that number by three. Don't tell me what it is!
- Done. Now what?
- Now add three, and multiply the new number by three. Got that so far?
- Right. How long is this going to take?
- Almost done! Now, add those two digits together. Your number is nine, isn't it?
- Hey, yeah, it is! Not bad, kid. Not bad at all.
- We'll have to finish this some other time. I have to run.
- Sorry, kid. I'm interested in your trick, but I can't play right now.
Approaching the western tents:
- Villager: It would only cost half that much in the city. I'll give you 25 gold. That's my final offer.
Approaching the representatives tent (if didn't interact with child):
- Villager: Where have you been? Leave that nice person alone and come to me.
Cinematic with the representatives:
- Scholar Josir: Finally! Thank Dwayna, you're here. I am Scholar Josir of the Durmand Priory. We've been expecting you.
- Agent Ihan: You're here to make decisions, and that's exactly what we need.
- Crusader Hiroki: For once, Ihan's right about something. I'm Hiroki, a crusader with the Vigil.
- Crusader Hiroki: The Risen forces are active in Lychcroft Mere. There are missing villagers; mostly children. We've got to get soldiers in there!
- Crusader Hiroki: The Vigil has a squad standing by. They're ready to sweep the area on your signal, Advocate. Just give the word.
- Scholar Josir: Advocate, I'm sure you can see that such an approach could only cause more problems. The Durmand Priory has a wondrous device called the "Mortis Verge."
- Scholar Josir: We believe in using intellect to fight the dragons. Saves on manpower, you know — and we have achieved some marvelous advancements.
- Crusader Hiroki: Your device is theoretical! Untested! You want to risk children on that? Vigil steel is tried and true.
- Agent Ihan: I'm with the Order of Whispers. We brought this to the queen's attention, but we'll leave the frontline fighting to the others.
- <Character name>: Very well. Hiroki, Josir — give me a moment to think this over, and then I'll decide.
Talking to representatives before making a decision:
- Scholar Josir: I hate to rush you, <Character name>, but it's time to decide. We need to find those children.
- Can you tell me a little more about the Durmand Priory, first?
- I certainly can! We are Tyria's most elite scholars and archaeologists. We search for lore to use against the dragons.
- That makes sense. Can I ask another question?
- That's good to know. I'm looking forward to learning more.
- Can you remind me about my choices again, please?
- The Vigil wants to make a direct military strike into the swamp. The Durmand Priory wants to go in quietly and use a new magic item to protect the children.
- Right. Thanks for reminding me.
- I need more time to make a decision.
- I'm ready to decide.
- Excellent. Tell me, do you want to join the Vigil's full offensive, or go with the Priory's clever device?
- I've decided to go with the Priory's Plan.
- Splendid! I'll meet you outside Lychcroft Mere and we'll get started. Congratulations on a wise decision!
- Looking forward to working with you, Josir. We'll have those kids safe in no time.
- Hm. Maybe I'm not ready to decide, after all.
- I need more time to consider before I make my choice.
- Crusader Hiroki: I hate to rush you, <Character name>, but it's time to decide. We need to find those children.
- Can you tell me a little more about the Vigil, first?
- The Vigil is a militia composed of all the races of Tyria. We fight the dragons, and we protect the innocent.
- That's good to know. I'm looking forward to learning more.
- Good to know. Hm. I need some more time before I decide.
- Can you remind me about my choices again, please?
- The Vigil wants to make a direct military strike into the swamp. The Durmand Priory wants to go in quietly and use a new magic item to protect the children.
- Right. Thanks for reminding me.
- I need more time to think, before I make a decision.
- I'm ready to decide.
- Excellent. Tell us: do you want to join the Vigil's full offensive, or go with the Priory's clever new toy?
- I've decided to go with the Vigil's Plan.
- Now we're getting somewhere. My squad and I will wait for you outside Lychcroft Mere. We'll find those kids — and crush some Risen along the way!
- You Vigil types don't stand still for long, do you? I like that. See you there.
- Hm. Maybe I'm not ready to decide, after all.
- I need more time to consider before I make my choice.
- Agent Ihan: It's not that my organization doesn't support you. We just like to have more information before we act. Until then, best of luck.
- Can you tell me a little more about your organization, Ihan?
- The Order of Whispers seeks to subtly influence the world's races to make them unify against the dragons.
- Influence? Do you mean you manipulate them?
- We pull strings, yes, but isn't that the nature of politics? Our goal is to fight the dragons, and that is a noble purpose.
- I suppose you have a point. Thank you for clarifying, Ihan.
- Makes sense. Thanks, Ihan.
- Can you tell me more about the situation in Lychcroft Mere?
- Children search for firewood in that marsh. We need to get the innocents to safety before the Risen find them
- I'll do everything I can to get them out. Thanks, Ihan.
- Cowardice, no. Wisdom, yes. Enjoy the swamp, Advocate.
- Ha! Good answer. See you soon, Ihan!
I hope that cowardice isn't a common trait in your order!
- Well...I suppose it wouldn't hurt. We're going to be looking into someone that went missing before the Risen appeared. It's probably nothing. Really, that's all I can say.
- That's good to know. I look forward to hearing about it when we get back.
Can I persuade you to tell me a bit more about what you'll be doing while we're gone?
- Absolutely. You'll be seeing a great deal more of us in the future. Good luck.
- Glad to hear that. Take care, Ihan.
Will the Order of Whispers be working with me in the future?
- I understand, Ihan. And thanks.
Talking to NPCs after making your choice:
- Crusader Hiroki: Lychcroft Mere is a dangerous place, even without the undead swarming about. I hope you're ready for it.
- I will be. Can you tell me anything more about the area?
- Lychcroft Mere is the swamp to our west. Usually the worst thing out there are bandits and the bears.
- So noted.
- I'm ready for anything.
- Scholar Josir: Are you wavering? Lychcroft Mere is a dangerous place, and I'll need your mind free of distraction.
- I'll be prepared. Can you tell me anything more about the area?
- Lychcroft Mere is a salt swamp, usually filed with animals and the occasional thug. These Risen are an unexpected intrusion.
- Good to know, I'll meet you there, Josir.
- I know what I'm doing.
My story[edit]
|
- Previous text
- Logan needs a favor. There are three Orders of Tyria: the Durmand Priory, the Order of Whispers, and the Vigil. The Priory and the Vigil are arguing over jurisdiction in a search for missing children. Logan asked me to help find the children and be an arbitrator between the two groups.
Villagers around Lychcroft Mere often go into the swamp and gather moss to burn in the fireplace. Logan says the undead roam the swamp. If that's true, those villagers could be in great danger. I'd better look into it.
