Rift essence

Rift essences are crafting materials used in crafting of the legendary Obsidian armor and Rift Motivations or exchange for other items.

Overview

• Raw Rift Essences can be acquired through Rift Hunting and Convergences. These include:
  • Fine Rift Essence
  • Masterwork Rift Essence
  • Rare Rift Essence
• Refined Rift Essences are refined versions of rift essences used in the crafting legendary equipment or for exchanging other items. These include:
  • Amalgamated Rift Essence
  • Purified Rift Essence
• Vendors that offer an exchange for rift essence include:
  • Gharr Leadclaw — offer exchanges for currencies, materials, and more.
  • Astral Ward Mage (Outfitter) — offers precursor armors required for Obsidian armor.
  • Lyhr, Ward Crafter Lucirae, and Renown Heart NPC in Janthir — as an assisted refining.
  • Junior Archivist's Aide Conri — offers items required for Suffused Obsidian armor.
  • Rift Researcher Adam — offers weapons, armors, and conversions.

•   Rift Guidance — The Heart of the Obscure can be used to find small Kryptis rifts.

Astral Ward mastery track

•   Astral Craft — Gain access to purchasing Astral Ward armor and the recipes to craft common and uncommon Kryptis Motivations for use in rift hunting.
•   Emotion Control — Gain access to purchasing the recipe to craft rare Kryptis Motivations for use in rift hunting.
•   Rift Mastery — Learn to extract greater amounts of Kryptis essence from rifts.

Inner Nayos mastery track

•   Convergence Mastery — Doubles the amount of Rift essence received when completing Convergences and grants  Rift Essence Extractor.

Rewards

Raw Rift Essences is obtained by completing the pre-boss event of any tier rift (for Fine Rift Essence) and by closing a Kryptis or titanspawn Mist Rift at the end of a Rift Hunting session.

Refined Rift essence

• The three types of raw essences are also crafting materials used in crafting refined versions of the essence (directly or indirectly):
• Recipes for crafting refined Rift essence items can be purchased from Lyhr, Astral Ward Mage (Outfitter) and Second Hunter Kamilla.
• Refined Rift essence items can also be purchased from Lyhr, who is located under the stairs in the Outer Ring in the Wizard's Tower.
  • The Astral Ward mastery track and its masteries, Astral Craft and Emotion Control, are required to purchase them.
