Lyhr's Facet of Emotion when split. Lyhr's Facet of Logic when split. Interactive map (Surface)

Lyhr is a member of the Wizard's Court. A dwarf from Deldrimor, he commands the Bastion of Balance, and has the unique ability to split himself into two halves, dubbed the Facet of Emotion and the Facet of Logic. Each half has a different appearance and personality.

When in The Wizard's Tower, Lyhr can be found at the Forge of Timelessness selling various items and recipes.

Biography

Early years

Lyhr lived in the Southern Shiverpeak Mountains roughly 250 years ago, having fought in the Deldrimor civil war with the Stone Summit, the conflict with the White Mantle and mursaat, and faced the rise of the destroyers. After experiencing a deep, personal trauma involving someone known as Rand, he was recruited by Mabon and voluntarily forget much of his past, including Rand. He ascended to become a member of the Wizard's Court before the Transformation of the Dwarves affected him, allowing him to keep his original, fleshy body.

As a wizard, he took over the Bastion of Balance, and oversaw debate halls in the wizards' levitating home of Amnytas. Lyhr himself would often split into two halves to debate himself, his Facet of Emotion arguing against his Facet of Logic.

Secrets of the Obscure

The Midnight King

During the civil war in Nayos, Lyhr remained neutral among the wizards and did not personally assist in the conflict. During the conflict, he even advised against Dagda joining in due to the strain battling Nourys took on her. After Eparch's death, he joined in the celebrations taking place in the Wizard's Tower to celebrate the peace between the Kryptis and the Astral Ward, as well as grumble over the future politics he had no doubt he'd be dragged into.

Janthir Wilds

Lyhr was chosen to be Isgarren's stand-in for the Tyrian Alliance proceedings after Isgarren and Frode had introduced the Astral Ward in the Tyrian Alliance's inaugural meeting. He participated in talks about the quarantine and cleanup of Rata Primus in Dajkah when Chief Councilor Imann and the Olmakhan were hoping to rally Arcane Council support to the project with Councillor Ludo's help. In a letter to Isgarren, Lyhr suggested that the ward offer additional support in the project to contain whatever might be left in the ruins. He also used the opportunity to remind Isgarren that the latter should not solely focus on Countess Anise as there were others worthy of the wizards' time and attention as well.

Lyhr: Aye, although not this simulated one we're in now. Not that I can remember much of it, either way. Images. Some smells.

Lyhr: Mabon told me a few things about my old life over the years; things that were safe to know. So it seems vaguely familiar.

Lyhr: I think I liked it here. I can see why I would have. Ah, but this is no time for wistfulness. There's a war to fight.

Why did they choose to create this particular fractal?

Lyhr: What they told me was that they wanted to see what would happen if the Stone Summit had won the war.

Lyhr: But I'll admit, standing here, that doesn't entirely add up. The war isn't over yet, see? So why this moment exactly?

Lyhr: I'd never be able to get a straight answer out of Isgarren about it, even if he weren't out of his mind right now.

What's it like having your personality split in two?

Lyhr: Ah, it's not as different as you might think. Like a conversation you have in your own head, just...louder.
