Open World PvE Mesmer Group Build[edit]
Sword + X Quickened Duelist with Superiority Complex[edit]
Provides group Quickness & Alacrity.
- Phantasmal Swordsman if using Off Hand Sword over Focus.
- Fried Golden Dumpling can provide some easy additional Might if required.
- Dueling: Master Fencer
- Gain 10sec of Vigor on Crit
- Well of Action
- Time Warp
- Well of Recall
- Shield 5 - Tides of Time
- Personal Alacrity on Shatter
- Mainhand Sword auto-attack + Sword 3 - Illusionary Leap
Variants
- Focus can be taken for Warden if Swordsman isn't required for Might with Warden's Feedback then worthy of consideration.
- For Min/Max'ers a Diviner's Back Piece can be used and one piece of either shoulders/gloves/boots can be swapped out for a Berserker or Assassin piece.
- Dueling + Domination Version more personal damage that is useful when unable to remain stacked on target. SOI can still be used for up to 5 people or swapped out for any other utility. Personal choice for off hand weapon.
- Superior Rune of Leadership can be taken and the Superior Sigil of Concentration replaced with a Sigil of Accuracy.
Open World PvE Mesmer Solo Builds[edit]
Power Builds[edit]
Damage is dealt directly and takes effect immediately.
Duel, Insp, Illusions - Enduring Scholar Shatter Mesmer[edit]
You gain Vigor and Might on Crit and Fury when striking a foe whose health is below 75%. Each time you create an illusion your outgoing damage is increased by 2% (up to 5 stacks) and you create an illusion when you dodge, every time a foe dies your endurance is fully restored. When you heal or summon a Phantasm you remove a condition and shatter skills provide a small heal and remove a condition. Blocking an attack procs Mental Defense to summon a Lesser Phantasmal Defender and subsequently removing a condition. Mind Wrack now has 2 charges. Mantra of Resolve can be switched for any other utility.
Dom, Insp, Illusions - GS / Dual Sword Frenzied Phantasm Mesmer[edit]
A Phantasm build with a strong focus on your Phantasms doing most of the damage for you. Summoning a Phantasm transfers a condition to your illusion and also casts Illusionary Inspiration granting Might to nearby allies. When your Phantasm becomes a clone it transfers its boons to you and you gain Might. Phantasms deal +1% more damage for each stack of Might you have. Creating an illusion increases your outgoing damage for a short duration.
Variants
- Phantasmal Disenchanter and/or Phantasmal Defender can both be added as an additional source of Phantasms that benefit from the recharge reduction when using Signet of the Ether.
Dom, Duel, Illusions - Superiority Complex Duelist Mesmer[edit]
Shatter Variant
- Domination - Mental Anguish (shatter skills deal 25% more damage, 50% more against foes not activating skills).
- Domination - Confounding Suggestions increases Daze and Stun Duration.
- Illusions - Shatter Storm to give Mind Wrack 2 Charges.
- Illusions - Master of Fragmentation
- Staff can be used instead of GS for the extra Daze/Stun chance from Chaos Storm.
Inspirational Illusions Chrono[edit]
When you heal or summon a Phantasm you remove a condition and Illusionary Inspiration grants Might to nearby allies, when a phantasm becomes a clone you gain Might and it’s Boons are transferred to you.
Illusionary Duelist Chrono[edit]
Damage is balanced between your own personal damage and that of phantasms.
Dom/Duel - Superiority Complex Phantasm Chrono[edit]
With a greater focus on personal damage, gaining Vigor and Might on Crit, Dazing or Interrupting a foe inflicts Vuln and each stack of Vuln on a target provides a 1% damage increase per 2 stacks of Vuln. You gain Fury on foes below 75% health.
Shatter Variant
- Domination - Mental Anguish (shatter skills deal 25% more damage, 50% more against foes not activating skills).
- Domination - Confounding Suggestions increases Daze and Stun Duration.
- Superior Rune of Strength can be swapped for the Rune of the Mesmer.
- Superior Sigil of Hobbling on the Sword can be swapped for Paralyzation.
- Staff can be used instead of GS for the extra Daze/Stun chance from Chaos Storm.
- Chaos can be taken instead of Dueling.
Sword + X Duelist with Superiority Complex(Group)[edit]

GS / Dual Sword Dueling / Inspiration Enduring Mirage[edit]
Shatters remove a condition, heal you and provide Vigor, Healing will also remove a condition as will Power Cleanse. Everytime a foe dies your endurance is restored and Sigil of Energy restores 50% of your Endurance on Weapon Swap.
Variants
- Heal: Mantra of Recovery can provide additional Condi Cleanse.
- Heal: Signet of the Ether can be used to quickly summon a 2nd phantasm.
- Mantra of Resolve can be swapped for any other Utility if the additional Condi Cleanse isn’t needed.

Scepter + Torch / Pistol Viper Mesmer[edit]
- Variants
- Aristocracy Runes (Seals of Beetletun from Caudecus Manor Dungeon) for Might Duration.
- Berserker Runes [HoT].
- Renegade Runes [PoF].
- Adventurer Runes for 50 Endurance on Heal.
Axe + Torch / Scepter + Pistol Viper Mirage of the Mad King[edit]
Most of the time while in the open world you will only need Axe and Torch, be sure to have these in different hand slots so you still benefit from weapon swapping. For some bosses / bounties you might want to use to Scepter + Pistol for your 2nd set.
When entering combat your first Ambush attack applies Confusion courtesy of Mirage - Riddle of Sand which is refreshed each time you use a Shatter so try to alternate your dodges/ambushes with your shatters for good effect.
Variants
- Berserker Runes [HoT] can be used as the next best option for Renegade Runes [PoF]
- Adventurer Runes can be used to provide +50% Endurance on Heal for even more dodges.
Tanking Builds[edit]
These make use of High Toughness (vs direct damage), Vitality (vs Conditions) or Damage Resistance.
Axe + Torch / Scepter + Pistol Trailblazing Condi Mirage[edit]
Variants
- Adventurer Runes can be used to provide +50% Endurance on Heal for even more dodges.
Utility Builds[edit]

Boon Commander Chrono[edit]
Plays like regular Chrono but now with more boons.

Swiftness / Movement Skills[edit]
- Focus 4: Temporal Curtain
- Mimic with Blink for double blink.
- Chronomancer: Time Marches On - You move 25% Faster.
- Mirage: Speed of Sand - 1sec of Superspeed on Dodge.
Survivability[edit]
- Diversion / Dazes can be used to interrupt your target.
- Distortion makes you temporarily immune to conditions and damage.
- Sword 2 - Blurred Frenzy, although an attack, the Blur effect allows you to briefly evade all attacks.
- Sword 3 - Illusionary Leap > Swap can be useful when kiting a foe for better positioning that gets you out of harms way.
- Sword 4 - Illusionary Riposte to Block an attack or Counter Blade to interrupt your foe.
- Scepter 2: Illusionary Counter provides a block that can be changed to a blind.
- Blink provides some mobility a stun break, better positioning or simply to disengage..
- Portal can save you from a bad jump or fall so long as you survive the landing.
- Clone and Phantasm Generation whether as simple fodder or for their utility.
- Stealth from skills like Veil and Mass Invisibility that are further enhanced through Chaos: Prismatic Understanding.
- The Inspiration trait line provides a lot of support utility with small heals and condi cleanse on shatter.
- Dueling: Deceptive Evasion creates clones at your current position when you dodge.
- Chronomancer Only - Shield 4: Echo of Memory blocks incoming attacks.
- Chronomancer Only - Shield 5: Tides of Time blocks Missiles and causes Stun on foe.
