Criteria[edit]

Open World Solo Builds must provide their own:

  • Boons - Might, Fury
  • Conditions - Vulnerability, Weakness.
  • Condition Cleanse
  • Self Sustain / Survivability
  • Crowd Control - Hard CC
  • Mobility / Disengage so as not to get bogged down
  • Kill Chains / Streaks for smooth transition without waiting for long cooldowns skills.
  • Easy / Relaxing rotations to play.

Open World Group Builds must provide:

  • Boons - Might, Fury, Quickness, Alacrity
  • Conditions - Vulnerability, Weakness.
  • Condition Cleanse
  • Group Sustain / Survivability
  • Crowd Control - Hard CC
  • Greater skill / ability required to play effectively.

Builds have been organised in to the following group types:

  • Direct damage (damage takes effect immediately).
  • Condition Damage and Duration (damage over time).
  • Hybrid - These can contain any mixture of Power, Condition, Healing or Support.
  • Explorer - Swiftness, Evades, Endurance/Vigor, Stealth to get around quickly and unhindered and to be able to quickly disengage from combat.
  • Utility - Boons / Support / Healing / Condi Cleanse
  • Support / Healing
  • Tanking - High Toughness (vs direct damage), Vitality (vs Conditions), Damage Resistance.
  • Thematic - Based around a particular theme including gear suggestions (where possible).

Unshakable.png Crowd Control (CC)[edit]

The only time an enemy with a break bar is susceptible to crowd control skills is when the break bar is a teal colour. Any other time and control effects will have no effect and simply be wasted.

  • Soft Crowd Control Effects are: Fear, Taunt, Immobile, Slow, Chill, Blind, Weakness, Crippled provide Damage Over Time (D.O.T.) to the Defiance Bar.
  • Hard Crowd Control Effects are: Daze, Stun, Knockback, Knockdown, Pull, Float, Sink and inflict damage directly to the Defiance Bar.

Hard CC is the go to choice for bosses that only have a small window of opportunity and these are now included for each profession for easy reference.

For more information check out the Wiki pages for Control Effect and Defiance Bar.

Consumables[edit]

I really cannot state this enough, but there is absolutely no requirement to use any food or consumables at all when in the open world.

However...

Some foods that I can recommend taking along with you are those that increase Magic Find (MF), Karma or Gold from Monsters. Newer Players might want to consider using food for the additional experience it provides if nothing else.
