1 Recommended addition: Interactive Crafting Node Map[edit]
- Site: # Interactive Crafting Node Map
- Feature: An interactive map of crafting nodes
- Reason for adding: useful site.
A guildie recently pointed out this site. It's early days, so there aren't that many nodes up, but it allows you to add/save more and to toggle off/on the nodes of interest to you. There's even a bug-reporting tool. If it gets the attention I expect it to, it will be a much faster method for documenting map locations. (I'd like to see its dev(s) apply the same methods to documenting events and hearts, since it can also capture the map locations more easily than we can at the wiki.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 04:29, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
- I don't see any objections to adding this one. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 00:53, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

1 Recommended addition: No Fun Allowed Interactive Map[edit]
- Site: No Fun Allowed Interactive Map
- Feature: An interactive map that allows adding all sorts of features to a shared map DB.
- Reason for adding: useful site.
If we're thinking of adding maps (I suppose they are fansites too), there are a few floating around. This interactive map is the most complete one I've seen. It has a lot of nice features such as adding screenshots to points of interest, hiding specific types of points, and the ability to resize it through changing the values in the URL. It has some harsh language in it though, but then again so do most forums. I don't really think that should exclude it from the list of fansites. - 05:20, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

1 Recommended addition: GuildWars2.cz [Czech|Slovak][edit]
http://guildwars2.cz was created at the beginning of 2009 and it’s first article was published on the 1th January of 2009.
- In General
As someone of you may know czech and slovakian languages are very similar. Czechs and Slovaks shared their country for more than 50 years, that’s why we have most of websites connected together – guildwars2.cz is not an execption. At the beginning, we’ve decided to create a community of people, which are interested in Guild Wars 2 and inform Czech and Slovak public about the game itself.
- You can see what the website can offer in following points
- News
- Guild Wars 2 wiki – active and translated
- Arenanet’s translated videos (subtitles)
- Active forum
- Team speak, clear informations, stories etc.
Our website is based on community. That means: Anyone can write an article, story or translation, send it to our team and, after approval, it will be published under his name (nick). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mexertus (talk • contribs) at 15:21, 28 July 2012 (UTC).
- Looks current, active, and appears to have the appropriate copyright links. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 00:53, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

1 Recommended Addition: Italian unofficial Guild Wars 2 Wiki project[edit]
We start a wiki project to translate official Wiki to italian language. The project is just started and as few articles translated for the moment, but is quite quickly growing (also considering we are in a summer vacation period) We already contact ArenaNet Community support to help us on sitisfying requirements to be listed here and we hope to be taken in consideration by you. Thanks in adnvance for you attention. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ocac (talk • contribs) at 15:57, 1 August 2012 (UTC).
- It's the first Italian fanwiki I've heard about, uses the correct license, and has a steeply growing curve in terms of content. Sounds like a fine addition, even in this early stage. - Infinite - talk 09:58, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
- Looks current, but I don't see any ANet copyright links on it. I'll leave a note on Ocac's talk page asking to fix that (should be easy enough).
- They also appear to be copying entire articles from this wiki and then translating later (for example). Isn't our policy that it's okay as long as it includes the GFDL links on every page? (Also easily fixed.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 00:53, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, I will add them to the list when I make my next set of edits (next 2-3 days).
- I was more worried about the lack of agreement to GFDL (although, yes, they should also link to specific articles for copy/paste or copy/translate situations). User:Zyll left a progress report note on my talk page and had a few questions. I think they are in good enough shape to be listed now (although they could do some more tweaking to make things look better and ensure that it's hard for their contributors to miss the copyrights to which they must agree; that can be done later on, too). It's looking pretty good for a new wiki. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 22:14, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- Well, by now the br wiki is fine, for your wiki to comply with the ToS you must:
- 1. Be licensed under GFDL, an icon at the footer would help immensely;
- 2. Display a copyright notice at least at the bottom of the main page, which states that everything (information and media, as well as logos) belongs to either ArenaNet or NCsoft (or their respective owners);
- 3. Have interwikis enabled linking to the official wiki, this helps emphasize you are a translation project. A template informing this in every page would be OK, but interwiki makes this statement looks better as it simply displays a link under 'Other languages' tab;
- 4. State in the disclaimers that you are a translation project and is not hosted or affiliated with ArenaNet/NCsoft, like this.
- Other than that, I don't know what else you can do. Good luck with your wiki, these kinds of site are an expression of how much we like the game! :) – Valento msg 05:02, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- Well, by now the br wiki is fine, for your wiki to comply with the ToS you must:
- 1. Reference to GFDL can be found in the disclaimer, upload file page, create/edit pages, some credits (while saying that part is not under GFDL)... As long I can see also Official Wiki is a GFDL project but doesn't display GFDL logo in any page/footer but simply in disclaimer, upload/edit pages and so on....
- 2. In the Community Wiki section of the main page last entry is "Taken and Translated from Guild Wars 2 Wiki" with a link to this site. Most of the content actually belongs to this wiki. Where content belong to ANet or NCSoft I used the same template of this wiki that explicitally specify that. Once again, also this official wiki has contents that belong to ANet or NCSoft, but I see no copyright notice inthe main page....
- 3. Uhm, here maybe you are right, interwikis would be more clear that is a translation project, but with template I feel more that is also a credit to information sources... But that's just my feeling...
- 4. Aready done. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zyll (talk • contribs) at 07:27, 10 August 2012 (UTC).
(Reset indent) Well done. Looking pretty good and I've noticed progress since my last visit. I'm going to add it to the unofficial wiki list.
However, there are still some small issues that should be cleared up. Please take a look at these other items in the next few days:
- In IE and Firefox, the tabs reference "Guild Wars 2 Wiki," which is the official wiki. So it should be changed to e.g. "Ordine dei Cavalieri dell'Antico Codice"
- Similarly, you use "Guild_Wars_2_Wiki" as a namespace; consider changing that to "Ordine dei Cavalieri dell'Antico Codice" or even "OCAC."
- When I edit, I see a link to the copyright notice, but it's safer to be explicit by mentioning GFDL and ANet (the details can remain on the copyright page). For example, instead of "vedi Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Copyright per maggiori dettagli", something like "under licensing terms from ArenaNet and Gnu Free Documentation Licensing; vedi Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Copyright per maggiori dettagli". (Well, obviously, in Italian, not English.)
Other comments:
- I think it would be better to link the "Avvertenze_generali" from the footer, since it offers the best explanation of the licenses involved.
- At some point (next month or whenever), adding icons for ANet and GFDL would be a good idea, but they just make things look nicer.
- The translation template looks fine to me.
- Do you have someone working on a logo for your site? Should we post a request for assistance on the community portal? There are some excellent artists who contribute here who would probably be delighted to help.

- There are regular contributions on various topics from GW2. They range from technical information, to general game information, to events and include some personal experiences from the game itself.
- A Mumble Server connects the community for VoiP.
- We've added some features like the Tweet and Count Down widgets
- The community is almost at 300 registered players and grows daily - more expected as we get to the Official Launch
- The forum boards are very active.
- There are a number of menus for the various aspects of the game.
- Website Items
- Articles
- The Game
- Gallery
- Dragons

- Forum
- Mumble
- Tweet feed
- Count Down
Many members are old GW1 players but we have grown the number of new GW players and want to continue to provide portal for local South African GW Players. We've had contact with Aidan Taylor (NCSOFT - EU) who provided Beta Keys for "giveaways" for BWE3.
- Statistics

1 Recommended addition: DragonSeason.com[edit]
Dragon Season(http://dragonseason.com) is a fan site with an international following, that also has a strong Greek fan base. It covers most aspects of the game with blogs, an international and a Greek forum, live streaming and youtube content. Dragon Season also attended the European Fan Day at Brighton. All in all, Dragon Season is offering: News, An active community, Event organization, Media content —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hype Erion (talk • contribs) at 22:45, 5 August 2012 (UTC).
- Looks current, active (for the Greek section; international...not so much), and has the appropriate copyrights. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 00:53, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- Added on this date/time. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 03:00, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- The information on the website is incorrect - it has nothing to do with "Greek Translations". The content of the blogs is original. Some of them are translated in Greek, with the vast majority being written in English. The website also includes 3 forums (international, Greek and guild forum). I recommend changing the site information, adding a Greek flag under "language" and ticking the "Forum" box. Thanks. - Hype Erion 15:30, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
1 Recommended Addition: Unofficial italian Guild Wars 2 Wiki[edit]
http://www.ebonhawke.com/wiki/ Since May 2012 we are working on what is to be considered the very first Italian Guild Wars 2 Wiki. Our aim is to "clone" flawlessly an italian version of the english original one in both contents and layout. We are very carefully observing the licenses used on the original wiki, carrying them on on our new one correctly. That goes especially for the GFDL. We are still at the begining, but our contents are steeply growing day by day. We really hope you like and appreciate our work. Best Regards. --Koki 09:23, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- Looks very active, but also seems to be missing the ANet and GFDL copyright links. I'll leave a note on Koki's talk page.
- They are doing another interesting thing: they are creating the English names for articles and then redirecting to the Italian version. (I don't know if that makes connecting themselves to this wiki easier or harder than the use of the French and German templates, but it probably works better for an unofficial site.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 00:53, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help and explanations. :) I fixed the wiki and now I hope that is right. You can take a look? Thanks very much
- http://www.ebonhawke.com/wiki/Speciale:Carica for the ANet license on file

- Thanks for the help and explanations. :) I fixed the wiki and now I hope that is right. You can take a look? Thanks very much
- The attribution to this wiki: super. Thanks for that.
- However, there are still two licensing issues (the "Informazioni" and ""Carica" pages aren't quite sufficient).
- You need a link on every page to "Licenza" (or its equivalent), using something similar to, "Content is available under these licensing terms."
- You also need a warning when people are editing an article that reminds them of the GDFL. We use, "By clicking the save page button below, you agree to license your contribution pursuant to the GNU Free Documentation License (1.2 or any later version) and you represent that your contribution is original and does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party." That text is transcluded from one of the MediaWiki space articles I linked on your talk page.
- I can't test that, since the site isn't allowing anonymous contributions right now. Maybe you can post or send me a screenshot.
- ("Avvertenze generali" is helpful, but not sufficient, since it doesn't link to GDFL.)
- However, there are still two licensing issues (the "Informazioni" and ""Carica" pages aren't quite sufficient).
- The reason these things are important is to ensure that there's never any confusion about who owns official content (ANet) and when and how any other content can be edited, linked, or copied.
- I'll be updating the main article in 2-3 days, so let me know if I can help or if you want me (or someone else) to take another look. Also congratulations on getting it setup so quickly: already a thousand pages. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 03:11, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for the compliments. :) I try to do my best. I learned to write a wiki thanks to the work that you did on GW2W! I like how you have structured and programmed!
- Now I have fixed the wiki... Can you take another look?
- I have put "Content is available under licensing terms" on the footer and is now always visible on every page.
- for the page Carica (Special:Upload) see this screenshot http://www.ebonhawke.com/filez/special_upload.jpg
- I have fixed Ebonhawke_Wiki:Avvertenze_generali with the link to GDFL
- I hope I did everything right what you asked me.
- Copyright is the most complicated thing to write for the websites but the most important. Best Regards--Koki 16:39, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

GuildSource A more modest webcast site. I admire their attempts to streamline sessions (and provide links to the next topic) and I thought they did a great job with posting the "real" patch notes right before BWE2 & 3. Things to do[edit]
Things to do:
- The list is finally starting to get long enough that we'll need a way to filter it (in progress, but I don't have as much time as I thought to work on it)
- The current group of sites suggests that we should add a couple of more check boxes for these things that seem to be common:
- Interactive maps, communication tools (e.g. chat or VoIP), lists of guilds (sharing a common interest), webcasts.
- Instead of using checkboxes, we could use a relevant icon with a key at the bottom, except not everything on the list has an obvious icon.
- A few sites offer capabilities in more than one language. I'm thinking we should offer two fields: primary language (the one that shows up from the base URL) and secondary language, using {{language|intl}} = for one of the columns if there are more than two languages.
We want to keep the list of columns manageable, otherwise readers will get lost in the details. However, we also want to make it easy to filter by feature.
Any other ideas for improvements? Alternatives? – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 03:09, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- For the sake of clarity, more checkboxes rather than deciphering icons might be the most convenient for visitors to the page. Also, I just marked WoodenPotatoes for deletion–I'm cautiously sure that that adheres to the spirit of our articles, but did wonder if a resource like that would be more appropriate here. Redshift 11:57, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- Just for reference, the WoodenPotatoes page was moved to User:J0el/WoodenPotatoes instead of being deleted. — Rari 12:50, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- Which is fair, but in similar fairness, if the work by J0el/WP is in accordance with our listing guidelines then this option still remains open. Thank you for the update. Redshift 11:11, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Adding wiki.guildwars2.cz [Czech/Slovak][edit]
I was writing about our website: guildwars2.cz, could we be also added to the wiki list? Thank you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mexertus (talk • contribs) at 20:22, 12 August 2012 (UTC).
- Sure. One minor change you should make first:
- When editing the page, there needs to be a note about the copyrights. It looks like you are also intending to use GFDL, so look above to the two Italian wikis to see examples of how you might want to phrase that. (Or, when you are editing this page, look below the summary field for how this wiki phrases the notifications.)
- Other comments.
- The translate/source links at the bottom are good ("Článek vychází z této oficiální anglické verze"). You might want to mention GFDL there, too, but it's not essential.
- 13 active contributors, thousands of hits for some pages, and 500 articles ready — looks like you are off to a good start.
- – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:38, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
Recommended addition : GW2 Organizer[edit]
This is a community site that provides tools for GW2 events organization, for both Guilds (private guild events pages) and Servers (public server events pages).
- Guild Management lets users register their guilds and join them based of leader/officer validation
- Events can be created by anyone, either on public pages or on private guild pages
- Events have those properties : title, date & time, description, type (dungeon, WvW, Hearts, Exploration, ...), Language, VoIP soft (none, TS, Mumble, ...), and team rules (max 10 players, minimum 1 guardians, no more than 2 warriors ...)
- Users can register for event with a character of their choice (previously entered in own characters list), depending on team rules and/or right of access (public or guild private event)
- some other features, either related to events management or general features (profile, pm...)
We don't have an "alexa rank" yet: this is a brand new site designed for Guild Wars 2, which has no GW1 counterpart (the gw1 version was a private guild site)
- As of now, the site is available and working, but some key features will be added during the next few days: time zone management, translation.
- Edit : the site is fully operational (time zone management and translations are working).
Recommended addition: Ehmry Bay Server Forum[edit]
- Site: Ehmry Bay Server Forum
The Ehmry Bay Server forum is a resource for Ehmry Bay players to get to know each other better, discuss the game, coordinate WvW, and plan events. Guild and alliances have the option to receive their own private areas within the forum as part of a community building effort. Currently over 300 players have become members to date and while a new site such as ehmry.com doesn't have a stellar Alexa rating yet it does show up in the first 10 results for the following search terms on Google "Ehmry Bay", "Ehmry Bay server", "Ehmry Bay forum". I obviously firmly believe that server forums are essential to the longevity of the game and hope that the other server forums that exist will be added to the list as well.--Thuley 20:20, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
- I personally would be uncomfortable with an unknown group claiming to represent the server that I'm playing on. Putting that aside, your link doesn't work. 20:23, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
- Link fixed, thanks for noticing. While you are of course entitled to your opinion on server forums the fact is that they have a long history of being a positive influence on a server community dating back to the original Everquest server forums. The Ehmry Bay server forums is an existing and utilized resource which is why I submitted it for inclusion into the list of fan sites since it meets the definition of a fan site.--Thuley 21:18, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
- See the general discussion below. I think a world-specific site is like a guild-specific site — it's not inclusive to all players in the game and (per the current consensus) doesn't seem appropriate to list under general fansites. I think it's fine if you link here on the talk page and on your personal page. And if it turns out there are a lot of such world-specific sites, I would probably link them from my home page on the wiki, too, even if they don't pertain to my world. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:19, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
proposal to categorize fan sites by world[edit]
Since a large part of the long term appeal of GW2 is the competitiveness of the WvW mechanic it only follows that world identity matters. Meaning that as a player it matters which server I am on and how that server is faring in WvW (unless one is a pure PvE player of course). As such I believe that it would be helpful to create sub-sections of the List of fansites by world which then contains links which are relevant to that world. Such links would include notable players (folks who have a large following on social media, for example woodenpotatoes on Ehmry Bay who has some 32,000+ youtube subscribers), forums dedicated to that server, and any other site with server-wide relevance (excluding guilds). Full disclosure: I run the Ehmry Bay server forum.--Thuley 17:40, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
- I don't think this idea changes a lot, most sites on this list are all server wide communities. And those communities will keep it that way, since they won't exclude any potential members. So this will lead too a couple of communities in a server catagory, which in my opinion won't make the list any better. --Dagoh 10:06, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
- I get what you are saying. So maybe there's some sense in creating a sub-section for server specific fan sites as opposed to a section for each server? Meaning that the list will be divided into two sections, one for sites that are essentially the currently listed sites and then a second section which is for sites that are specific to some particular server? The goal here is to create a separation between mainstream and special interest sites, not in small part to keep the mainstream site list from getting cluttered with special interest sites.--Thuley 00:50, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- I don't think we should. If people want to create world-specific sites, they are welcome to do so. But I'm not sure that there's value in listing them on the wiki unless we also start listing guild sites; I don't really see anything different between the two aside from scale (there are some guilds/alliances that boast 1000s of members). World-specific sites are restrictive, whereas the list on this is meant to appeal to all players.
- Also, I don't know that it's practical: suppose World A and World B are competing and each have their own website. What's to stop World A from reading the strategies discussed by World B? There's no way to confirm whether someone is a member of a world for longer than 24 hrs. That leaves sharing general content, which is no longer world-specific. I think a world that wants to set up a world-specific site is better off creating a dedicated WvW guild that people represent when they are in WvW, but maybe not for PvE. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:16, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
- I just figured to reply in one place so some of this is in reply to your posts in the above section to add the Ehmry Bay server forum to the list. Let's not invoke consensus in this discussion because it would be pretty trivial for me to have all my forum members come here and advocate for inclusion of the forum in a section of the list. By majority rule it would then be included. I don't think this is necessary or should be done. Whether or not a site should be included should stand on it's own merit governed by reason and rationale. The difference between guild sites and server sites isn't a matter of scale, it's a matter of inclusion. GW2 fan sites (ironically many sites aren't really fan sites but commercial operations that just ride the success of the game) cover the game and are potentially relevant to all players regardless of world. World sites are relevant to all players of that world. Guild sites are only relevant to guild members, regardless of how many members the guild has. The reality is that many worlds have forums set up which are dedicated to their world. The purpose of those forums is not to provide GW2 content that is available elsewhere but to build a community of players. Essentially creating a social fabric that sites which are not world specific cannot create because a player of worldA really doesn't care about a player on worldB. The only thing those two players have in common is that they play the same game. World sites promote interaction between players on the same world and that interaction makes for a better gaming experience in a game where grouping is in most cases entirely optional. --- I wholeheartedly agree that world sites do not belong in a general fan site listing, hence the proposal to create a special interest sub-section. ;) --Thuley 20:42, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
- But this would be the only site in that sub-section. Also, consensus is not a vote. 21:16, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
- I'd be happy to research and provide links to other world communities as well, for example http://stormbluffisle.com/ and http://www.jadequarry.com/, every server that has one should be included.--Thuley 06:39, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- But this would be the only site in that sub-section. Also, consensus is not a vote. 21:16, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

- I don't see how out-of-game fansites benefit from being world-isolated on-wiki. That sort of information should be listed and elaborated on the individual fansites. As per TEF's comment in the section above, the world designations would be akin to guild fansites; excluding certain audiences, which is the exact opposite of this list's purpose (in fact, we used to be a lot stricter on including fansites on this lists, before consensus changed and it became what it is today). In short, I don't feel this is a beneficial addition, nor would I recommend fansites to limit their audiences in similar fashion. - Infinite - talk 08:52, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- Your recommendation makes no sense at all. Essentially you are saying that I shouldn't be running a site for Ford F150 owners, instead my site should be for all Ford owners. Or I shouldn't be running a site about back pain instead I should include all pain issues. I honestly cannot understand how someone can possibly make such a recommendation as it completely misses the purpose of the site. Reality has already proven that players are actively engaged in server forums because (surprise!) they like to interact with folks on their server much more than they like to interact with approximately 2 million random players elsewhere. You are saying that I shouldn't run a site about my hometown, instead it should be a site that caters to the whole country. Strictly speaking no one is excluded from joining a server forum. You are welcome to join ehmry.com and post on there. It's just that you would be much better off to associate with those who are actually on your server.--Thuley 16:33, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- You're attacking my comment from the wrong perspective; look at it from the wiki's perspective, we need to be all-inclusive, not specific. This isn't about the fansite owners. - Infinite - talk 18:45, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- We can extend your analogy. Let's say you run a site for Ford F150 owners- should Ford link to your site on theirs? If you make a site about your hometown, should it be listed on us.gov? The argument isn't that your website is useless or unwelcoming, it's that it is primarily intended to be used by only a small subset of the population of the game. 19:03, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Recommended deletion: GW2 Versus[edit]
GW2 Versus has not met the popularity bar for inclusion and appears to be no longer maintained and/or promoted. As of 9/26/12 the site has 42 members of which 14 are listed as active. The most recent member signed up on 9/6/12. With ArenaNet providing a WvW discussion area within the official GW2 forums the viability of GW2 Versus as a fan site has further diminished.--Thuley 20:54, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
- Agreed and removed. Frankly, this site should never have been added in the first place- looking at the archive shows the addition was requested to promote the site when it first opened and had no content whatsoever, which is not what this list is meant to do. 21:15, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
United Nations flag[edit]
What's the purpose of this? UN is not a language. If the site is simple enough to use on any language, it should have no language flag at all, imo. Mediggo 06:08, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

- Yes, all user submitted data. There is a limit on how many submissions a person can make in a short time period. Each person has an id assigned and saved to their browser that is sent with each submission. I will end up testing a few queries manually later this week that will acknowledge and separate the poor data, then make it live and relax the submission cap. --Stumpzy 19:54, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

Changes to list structure[edit]
This reminds me that I need to invest some time with people active on this page to discuss structuring it (something I started discussing with TEF but lacked the time to continue). Having "tools" right next to other sites that engage their audience (blogs, etc.), not mentioning other languages, looks confusing. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Stephane lo Presti (talk • contribs).
- Done--Relyk ~ talk > 21:04, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
- Well done (and thanks!) ^_^. I think since we (the community team) want at some point to use this, I'll still propose to revisit it whenever I can find the time. From a design and "building" perspective, there are topics that we may want to consider. For example, should the list be organized by countries first, then name. Or What kind of minimum requirements (e.g., existed for a minimum of 6 months?). --Stephane Lo Presti talk 21:07, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
- I would like to stop using the flags to denote language, since a) flags are not intuitive, b) the languages they represent are often spoken by more people in other countries (Brazil is much larger than Portugal, Mexico is much larger than Spain, the US is much larger than the UK), and c) the images aren't even the same size. Instead, we should just use the English names for those languages and a dash for the ones where language isn't important. Any objections? 14:25, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
- I personally think it's a good idea. It may even make sense to copy the DE/FR/ES entries to their respective wikis (to kickstart their Fansite list articles). --Stephane Lo Presti talk 16:06, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
- Given that we don't just list the English language fansites here, it doesn't necessarily make sense for the other wikis to list only their respective languages' fansites. On the other hand, mirroring the same list across all the wikis means they'd all have to be kept consistent with one another. 19:47, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
- True, I was more thinking about seeding the articles on the other wikis with the list here (provided the other wikis agree with that). Now I'm going to throw another idea: what about coordinate with other wikis and if they create similar Fansite pages, then the English one can redirect to them (or include them if there's some wiki magic to do that?). Thoughts? --Stephane Lo Presti talk 19:50, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
- I assume the English wiki would still list the English language fansites in that case. Where would the fansites that aren't in any of the four official wiki languages be listed? 20:00, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
- I thought that the English wiki Fansite article would list all languages, as it currently does. The only change I'm suggesting (if agreed by all wikis) is that the DE, FR and ES wikis would host their respective language and (if possible)push that content to the the English wiki. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 20:03, 20 March 2013 (UTC)

to pick the one to show (if target language description is not set, default to English). —Dr Ishmael 12:41, 21 March 2013 (UTC)- All good points above. It looks like simply linking to them may be easier?--Stephane Lo Presti talk 18:37, 21 March 2013 (UTC)
(Reset indent) I still have work to do on the topic of the Fansite list article, but there's one thing I'd like to mention that is quite important: GW2 fansites should comply with the GW2 Content Terms of Use and this means in particular displaying appropriate trademark designations (the notice that starts with the copyright symbol), which has to be done at the bottom of every page. This is an official requirement coming from us and while we're not checking each and every GW2 site out there, I think it's a baseline that should be respected. (in the past, GW2 sites have happily complied by adding it to the bottom of all their webpages after we mentioned it, so it's not a showstopper but rather a process to implement) --Stephane Lo Presti talk 22:56, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

I think we belong here, on this list, for the following reasons:
- We're an affiliated site since December 2011, when the official Hungarian distributor for GW2, PlayOn LLC asked us to be a "news frontpage" to support them. We said yes because we were doing that anyway. :)
- As part of the affiliation program we received support from Aidan Taylor, one of the EU community managers, and PlayOn. We received beta keys, copies of the tie-in novels, T-shirts, mugs, which were given to the blog's visitors via competitions and random drawings.
- Up to date with news and interviews, both official and unofficial (like data mining "news"), patch notes are always fully translated within a day or maybe two.
- Most visited, commented, hated, etc. Hungarian site with more than 1800 Facebook likes. Should be first hit with this search on google: "guild wars 2 site:hu". Don't have an Alexa rank for you, but have this as proof for ~2500 daily hits: Flag Counter

- Discussed this with the site admin and the other editors, we simply want "Guild Wars 2 Hungary", like the other "main" fansites. Thanks and keep up the good work, the GW2 wiki is even better than the GW1 one was :) Endrosz (talk) 12:21, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Requesting Addition: euguilds.com Directory of GW2 Guilds on EU English Language Focused Servers 2015/08/30[edit]
Howdy! Great page...requesting an addition...http://euguilds.com/ English Language Focused Server Guild Directory. ArenaNet Communication Team Lead Gaile Gray has commented on this https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/lookingfor/euguilds-com-Guild-Directory/first#post5434150thread confirming it as an additional resource to the Looking For forums.
This is me giving back to the community by creating a place for guild recruitment threads that would not get buried within hours of being posted. It is specifically for the EU English speaking Servers because I thought it was about what I could manage using the simple system I have. And English is the only language I can moderate.
It isn't a pretty site, but it is very practical, uber organised, free and you don't need a login to post a recruitment/community thread or view the posts.
In addition to it being a guild directory, there are also boards for various news, fansites, reference sites, live streamers, communities and individual server communities. A sort of one stop shop if you will.
This Wiki fansites list page has been added in two places on the boards.
The more people that post to the boards, the greater the benefit to the wider community.
The site is current - started up February 2015. I do tidy ups every quarter roughly. Growth is slow but steady. The analytics shows that in the past month we've had over 10k page views. As more people add their threads, the more known it will become.
I know euguilds.com only loosely fits the criteria, but as Gaile Gray has recommended to the community to also use it, I'm hoping that will be enough to add to this list. For more detailed info: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Directory FizzyPetal (talk) 09:25, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
- site is a fansite (true) + someone impartial recommended it (Gaile) = goes on the page.
- I'm not sure if the wiki page for Guild Directory will stay, it will probably have to go, but it can definitely be linked from here. -Chieftain Alex 09:51, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
- Howdy! Thank you for adding euguilds.com to the list. The link for some reason doesn't work. When I click on it, it takes me to an error page saying the site doesn't exist. The URL on my browser shows http//euguilds.com instead of http://euguilds.com/ I looked at the source and it looks correct so not sure why it is putting in a different address to what it shows in the source. Can you fix it?
- Edit: Did another copy paste from right clicking on the link...this time it does this: http://http//euguilds.com/. :(
- Can you change the name guild directory to euguilds.com?
- The Guild Directory that I've put on the Wiki as a page can be updated to add any other Guild Directories, for example, USA might start one up or have one...

Server communities (an idea)[edit]
Just thought that this place could be the place to list of Server community site links. You could list all servers, maybe 2 lists NA and EU. Ring of Fire can be found at: http://www.rof-community.com/home. This site has been up since 8th October 2013 and is still active. May be others can link there server community site.
- Cool, if you start a list with Ring of Fire, others may put forward there's :)
Super Adventure Box[edit]
There are lots of fans of Super Adventure Box that are pining away for its return, although there is no indication that Super Adventure Box will return anytime soon. As a result, several fansites have been created forcusing on Super Adventure Box. Is there anyplace that it would be appropriate to list these?
Perhaps you have better fansites. ~ 1Maven (talk) 18:02, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
- "We do not include every possible fansite, because there is too little value to the community in presenting a long, unstructured/unvetted list". I'm assuming that you've also already used the wiki search and have visited Rytlock's Critter Rampage, if not feel free to visit it now. Also, Reddit isn't exactly a fan site (and truthfully I'm not reqading througha one year old thread for hunting purposes), if there is a certain site there that you think should be noted, you'll need to outline the specific site and also give reasons (as per the criteria on the page) as to why it should be included. But unless there can be made a case for it being current, the fansites may just remain here on the talk page. Venom20 18:10, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

I recently discovered this site when I was trying to work out how to get my hands on a Pendant of Arah (exotic) and also for trying to hit a Dragon Stand meta at the right time. This site is endorsed by ANet (# most recently 24 November 2016) I've bookmarked it and recommended it to my guild mates who also give it high praise.

Our current role on the server is to offer a home to all players on it, regardless of the environment, organizing PvE events, supporting national PvP tournaments, performing a training session at WvW with the school, promoting the creators of content to make them known to the community and that more and more users can enjoy their work and organizing role parties.

Hey, so this is a fairly new project I'm working on. My goal is to help both new and returning players get into GW2 by creating guides and recaps for them. With the Steam release coming up in just a few months I think this is something that could prove useful. By that time I plan to add several new guides as well - 3 of them are currently in draft phase and there's way more to come down the line. While new/returning players are my main focus, I also create more general purpose articles (recommended gem store purchases, alt parking, etc.).
Most of the similar guides I have found on various forums, sites and reddit seem to be 3-5 years outdated at the very least (Dak393 here on the wiki is a notable exception, he is awesome), I intend to keep this one updated for years to come. --Morvran (talk) 14:43, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
Recommended addition: gw2mists[edit]
website: https://gw2mists.com/
A popluar website for wvw zerg builds and wvw guilds from an arenanet partner
features:
- wvw builds
- wvw match up statistics
- wvw guild overview
- wvw guides and blog posts
- ...
would fit into the "Tools" section because it has a similiar role for wvw as discretize for fractals and snowcrow for raids have. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 94.114.77.0 (talk).
- Additional note to above by unsigned comment. It is listed as "Guild Wars 2 Mists" on Arenanet's Partner program https://welcome.guildwars2.com/en/partner-program --Life Infusion «T» 20:22, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
Alexa retirement[edit]
Alexa has reached end of service in May 2022. It is listed as one of the measures used to determine if a fansite should be included in this article. There are alternatives (such as SimilarWeb, Ahrefs and more) but those are more SEO-oriented. What do we think about removing the measures altogether (having just Google as an indicator feels meh)? ❄The F. Prince❄ (talk) 09:21, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- I removed the popularity measures. I think reaching a consensus is enough to determine popularity. --BuffsEverywhere (talk) 04:52, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

Reason for adding: Consolidates and makes available ingame many well-loved features that usually require a second screen or alt-tabbing for
- I agree. It is a popular addon with many features but is it really a fansite? Regardless, I'm in favor of adding it here because the applications page is a mess lol. --BuffsEverywhere (talk) 05:04, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
- Not really a fan of adding Blish, it is not really a fansite and I wouldn't add overlays and such here. Opens the path to adding ArcDPS, which I am absolutely against. ~Sime 17:24, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
Recommended addition: hardstuck.gg[edit]
The page has lots of information including builds and guided that can be helpful to a lot of players 82.135.87.222 11:47, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
- Agreed, added, especially since they are now partnered and officialy recognized by Anet. ~Sime 17:24, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
Add [fast] Farming and retire GW2timer[edit]
- How is Fast Farming Community is still not included?
- GW2Timer hasn't been updated for years, lacks not just EoD content but even the Icebrood Saga. Its unfortunate, but it should be retired from this list, in my opinion. --Genie (talk) 20:14, 21 June 2023 (UTC)
- Late response (since you already added it anyway lol), but I agree with the addition of Fast community. The GW2Timer site still has its uses via some tools (though I do not use it personally), but yeah the map not being updated is a big issue. I'd keep it though, just for the tools, as they are being still updated somewhat.~Sime 17:20, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
Recommended Addition: Mukluk Labs[edit]
- Site contains many professionally edited video guides that Mukluk updated as needed.
- New guides of all types and commentary on patches and the game in general are frequently added and quite entertaining.
- Mukluk YouTube channel has over 150 GW2-related videos.
- Mukluk also hosts a twitch channel (daily for more than 5 years) that covers GW2 and other games.
- ANET partner. Separ (talk) 15:19, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
