Historical stuff[edit]
Hi Venom, if a page has an infobox, just use status = historical
rather than directly inserting the historical content template, this way it doesn't appear in automated queries. Plus you can leave the page content as it was apart from that, no need to blank parameters. example. Thanks. -Chieftain Alex 17:27, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
- Okay, I haven't been around in a while, unsure how they new infoboxes function. I had removed the values because it was keeping "historical" stuff in premade tables. But I would image that would be solved by inserting historical into the template itself. Thanks for the note. Venom20 17:30, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
- It is not a problem, I appreciate that the beta has brought some users back ^. As you say, sticking historical in the template sets a semantic property, "Has availability::Historical". This is then filtered out from automated queries with Current like on Mastery table. -Chieftain Alex 18:03, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
skins or items?[edit]
You're creating a bunch of pages that you're calling "skins" but they use the item infobox. Did you know there's a Template:Skin infobox? —Dr Ishmael 02:05, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
- If by bunch you mean one, then you are somewhat correct. The makeshift weapons are actually weapons (ie items) looted in the game. There is however a discrepancy with the torch as there is/was already a Makeshift Torch. An alternate approach would be to move the current Makeshift Torch to something like Makeshift Torch (trophy), and then move the current Makeshift Torch (skin) to the previously used Makeshift Torch. Also to answer your question, I am indeed aware of the skin infobox.
- While you are here, I'm not too sure how the "events" section works in the article Night and the Enemy. It is clearly pulling the data from somewhere, but is only pulling 4 events and all of them occur during the daytime cycle. The daytime cycle is Outpost: Pale Reaver Rally, and it is pulling the same 4 events. Also, the 4 that are correct in that latter page, are not the only 4 that occur during the day. At first I thought it was using the event ID's to form the list, but then noticed that Kill the rampaging Mordrem appears in the day list (as well as the night list), and it has no event ID listed. Then something like Recapture the primary rally point from the Mordrem is not in the list, but is written in the same way. Venom20 02:37, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
- Oh, I see - and yes, that was the only page I looked at). But still, that is not a skin, it's a weapon, so it should not be suffixed as "(skin)" in any case. I agree with your suggestion to move the trophy item and put the weapon at the non-suffixed page name, since the trophy is quite insignificant. [addendum] I went ahead and made the moves.
- About the events - that query is pulling all events that occur in Verdant Brink (that are currently documented on the wiki). That's why you get the same result in both places. Since the events that fall under a meta event often have complicated relationships, we don't use semantic queries for them; just look at any other meta event page, like Toil for the Coil or Sandstorm! —Dr Ishmael 03:27, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
section redirects[edit]
I dislike section redirects, because anyone can go and edit the section title and then the redirects fail, and they usually go unnoticed. —Dr Ishmael 14:59, 15 August 2015 (UTC)
- Welp, should have seen this sooner. I guess it kinda doesn't help that the section is in quotes as well... —Ventriloquist 16:08, 15 August 2015 (UTC)
Delete tags[edit]
Hi, just wanted to ask why you tagged :File:2594638.png and :File:2594640.png for deletion? Dak's ones are of significantly higher quality. Sunlion (talk) 04:05, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- Because there is no point in having the same image twice under two names. If you feel that the images should be kept due to quality, then perhaps the solution is to upload the better quality icons as versions under the file which is the proper name. Naming convention here matters. It serves no purpose to have files under numbers as it makes items more difficult to manage. Venom20 13:29, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- Standard practice currently however is to move the numbered files to the name of the item ingame. Sunlion (talk) 16:00, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- Wow, I just looked up the results of the render service and it's a literal mess. Most icons exist as numbers but point nowhere outside of User:Darqam/Dat_Icons. I'll scour that page for future items and move them as needed, but ultimately all the duplicates should be cleaned up at some point (with no references, or have their references cleaned). Thanks for letting me know. Venom20 16:37, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

Move remnants[edit]
Hey Venom20, hope you have fun with EoD! Please mark move remnants as such (example):
move remnant #REDIRECT
Keep the redirect and add the delete tag. Makes deleting easier. Thanks. —Kvothe (talk) 03:50, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- I was wondering about that. Thanks! Venom20 12:38, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
Saltspray weapons[edit]
I just want to thank you for finishing the Saltspray weapons! Anet has prepared a nice headache for us, when they could've easily named the weapons "Green/Blue Saltspray weapons". ~Sime 17:01, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
- I haven't made it halfway into the new expansion yet (only getting the green set through wvw) and started to make straight up Saltspray. Then people were talking about different stats and I was half paying attention and it wasn't until I was halfway into creating the pages that I realized there were skin colours of blue and green. To further compound, the icons were purple for the green set... Figured I couldn't get halfway in, needed to get a good chunk done. Thanks for the recognition!! Venom20 20:03, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
