thanks[edit]

Thanks Santax for the edit. :) -Ludovicus (talkcontribs).

Hey, no problem, and welcome to the wiki :) Santax (talk · contribs) 17:45, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
I just feel like such a noob here. This is my first entry that endures. My first entry was about Mordremoth, long ago. It was too soon and I commented about the speculation of its existence before it was confirmed. Long story short, it got removed. I love how this article has grown in so little time, and I know it will grow much more after PAX ;) Thank you all :D -Ludovicus (talkcontribs).

gallery[edit]

Uh, Santax? Those images are all labelled "Point of No Return" - what do they have to do with this? —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 21:53, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

I was just wondering the same thing. User Kirbman signature.png talk 23:11, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
(spoiler) None of the quotes are actually said in PNR, and e.g. Rytlock does not appear in PNR, so those screenshots are from HoT. And the Caithe quote + at least one of the Rytlock quotes appears in the HoT trailer. Santax (talk · contribs) 23:49, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
The three with the blindfolded Rytlock are from HoT, however Caithe's quote is from PoNR and the first, second and fourth image are from older episodes. --Sialor (talk) 18:50, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
You know, this might seem to some as a strange opinion, but I would put all the images labeled with Point of No Return to the page concerning Point of No Return. The story of Season 2 does follow into that of Heart of Thorns, but they were still used for the LW, and, perhaps except the 2 Rytlock ones, they all directly relate to the storyline of said season. Putting them to the page of a follow-up expansion is a bit confusing now, and will become very puzzling later. User Noxx Sig.png 18:45, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
Even though the screenshot itself shows content from HoT, it's still an image released as part of PoNR. Put them on PoNR and label them "Teaser screenshot for HoT" where appropriate. Titus User titus the third.png 19:24, 25 January 2015 (UTC)

trademark[edit]

Might I suggest people not editing the page without sources? I (forgot that I had an account) just removed the part about what kind of trademark it was, due to it being (partly) incorrect. Lordkrall (talk) 12:49, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Mesmer shield?[edit]

I think that's a Mesmer at 1:27 of the trailer so maybe Mesmer's get shield offhand? http://youtu.be/IOUk2y0K2m8?t=1m26s -User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 21:29, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

Definitely a shield. --Ventriloquist 21:59, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
also hammer engi should we add these notes to the page?-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 22:03, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
I suppose it's safe to assume that both will come from a specialization. --Ventriloquist 22:04, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
We can be pretty sure that was a mesmer shield skill, considering it matched the skill colour and exploded into butterflies, but are we positive that's an engineer? Just trying to balance out expectations here... --Rognik (talk) 05:33, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

Heart of Thorns banner similar to Living World releases[edit]

The GW2 Facebook uploaded this banner and I uploaded it here: File:Heart of Thorns banner.jpg I debated updating the logo here (I personally like it better than the one we have here, but I think I'm biased), but I figure if nothing else it could be used in the featured article. Also, we should start looking into something like how the GW1 wiki has the base game and expansions along the top so it's really easy to access the expansion info...or some other method. Vahkris (talk) 14:28, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

post announcement interview[edit]

Dose anyone have a link to the post interview they did on twitch it was with some twitch host, Mike O’Brien and Colin Johanson. I saw part of it but my internet started acting up so couldn't finish it. -User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 05:46, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

That interview was done by ManVsGame. It does not look like he archives his videos. The only bit of information that was not covered in the main stream was about the demos and EGX Rezzed. Anzenketh (talk) 18:18, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

POI preview[edit]

So after the short preview of Heart of Thorns on Points of Interest today, we were able to glean a few things about the map. The area they were playing in was called "Dry Step Mesas", and after the game crashed, we saw the name of the whole map, "Verdant Brink". Is it too soon to start making pages on these things, as they might be renamed before release? --Rognik (talk) 06:06, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

They're already created. Even if they do change on launch, it's quite easy to just move the pages to their appropriate names. Ventriloquist 09:40, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

"HoT picks up the story just hours after the final episode of s2"[edit]

I am 99% sure that I heard Colin say this during the PAX South event (I've also seen others referring to that statement). However, I'm unable find it now. I've checked the main announcement show a couple of times without any luck, so I'm presuming it might have been said during the post-show interview (at PAX with Mike and Colin, I believed it was streamed on twitch by ANet themselves, but seemingly not. Maybe it was just hosted by ANet?). Can't find it anywhere. Anyone know? Titus User titus the third.png 14:21, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

Release Date?[edit]

Would anyone like to speculate on the release date? (Ideally based on some sort of evidence, or loose interpretation of facts, as opposed to randomly drawing dates out of the ether, or suggesting dates that you'd personally like to see). Stu (talk) 13:52, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Speculation on the release date does nothing constructive, especially as ArenaNet is known to dislike hard release dates until they feel comfortable for it to ship. GW2 was originally supposed to be released in 2010 (or they were aiming for that, I believe), but it was pushed back to 2012. When an official release is announced, it'll be added to the page. If you want to speculate, go join the discussion on the forum. --Rognik (talk) 16:56, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

this could be important? https://twitter.com/GuildWars2/status/596266197689184256 --87.239.143.50 10:54, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

How could this be important? Today they release the specialisation for guardians, that's what this picture is about. Last week was mesmer. And the other professions will follow next weeks (1 each week) --Cloned (talk) 11:34, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Upcoming beta[edit]

I think we should think about organizing for the upcoming beta as they have announced that it wont be behind nda so those of us who get invited first, should try and gather as much info for the wiki that we can and add it where we can. thoughts?-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 01:28, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

bump I didn't get in but maybe someone else did? -User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 07:54, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
A bunch of people from my guild and I got in, but I don't know how helpful we'll be. I have to work, and they don't use the wiki past getting some information. I'm not sure if Louise got in, he's always active on here. --Lustre Of Havoc 13:28, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
I got in. Don't have a particular focus going in (except reporting bugs, naturally). I'm not sure what I could find that hasn't been mentioned on the wiki yet. I won't do any huge rewrites of articles, I'm not fond of doing things like that. Tyndel (talk) 16:09, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
just check for stuff we dont have and check the info we do and add to it where necessary.-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 01:13, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
I have a close friend who got in beta, he said I could use his account tonight (anyone knows the respective UTC time for that?). I may have to miss a class lol. – Valento msg 11:43, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

I got in, I'll be adding everything I can... I'll be rolling thief rather than the rev like most others probably will. naturally will be taking insane amounts of screens to add stuff later rather than spend all my time during the test updating wiki pages. :) Ikarus (talk) 16:30, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
I'll be rolling a revenant, and will focus on masteries/glider. I may screenshot the hell out of conversation dialogues as well. :) – Valento msg 17:03, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

Thief spec?[edit]

Any information about the thief elite spec known as of yet?--67.82.254.42 03:41, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

Absolutely none. People are speculating, but we've received no official word yet. —Ventriloquist 10:06, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
speculation includes Rifle (sniper) or Torch (ravager). Axe seems unlikely. They could just as easily take the left hand route and introduce Scepter (wee majikal theifery) or Mace Thieves (strong arm bandits). 66.87.79.162 16:01, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Break bar[edit]

is there a location with all the information we have on the new break bar mechanic we have seen in the betas?-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 05:56, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Pre-purchasing[edit]

Maybe a separate HoT-FAQ would be appropriate because it's not clear:

  • There is no upgrade for current users.
  • Will current users have access to new features like Guild Halls and Desert Borderlands without purchasing HoT?
  • Are you required to create a new account to access to all Beta Weekend Events and new features?
  • What if you want to access HoT with your existing level-80 character? ~ 1Maven (talk) 13:48, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Additionally why is the UK price more expensive than the US? Should be 31.99 not 34.99.

Challenging group content[edit]

is challenge group content = adventures ? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 93.65.15.119 (talk).

No. They just published a blogpost specifically about adventures, so I guess challenging group content will have its own blogpost and will feature different content. – Valento msg 14:53, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
Adventures are solo content. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 15:58, 22 July 2015 (UTC)

Hiding HoT Content[edit]

Should we be hiding infomation from Heart of Thorns from other pages? Like skill type, list of greatsword skills or even from the profession pages? or should we show them what's to come? Perhaps we could add some notes to those pages (like the ones below) showing that those are HoT content, heping players know where the source of information came from.

Source from warrior's page:

Elite[edit]

I don't see a point hiding this stuff, especially as we're less than 3 weeks away from an official release. All that needs to be done is update the skills, should they have changed since the beta weekends, and I believe that the extra skills are only available if you have that elite branch equipped on your character, so having them marked as such can be useful once we get new elites. --Rognik (talk) 00:40, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

Feedback 2015/08/29[edit]

Just wondering if it would be helpful at this time to start gathering info during BWE2 for a new page to be linked to under "Other content / Map bonus rewards" that includes zones and what their rewards are.

There are a couple of different ways we could format the info. 1) A simple text list alphabetically by zone name (i.e. Kessex Hills) with all that zones rewards on one line. 2) A 2 column table sortable by either column that contains the zone name (i.e Kessex Hills) in 1 column and 1 zone reward (i.e Silver Doubloons) in the other column. This table would have multiple rows with the same zone name, but each would have a different reward. If we went this route a person could find out what a zones rewards are by sorting on the zone column or what zone(s) a specific reward can be found in by sorting the other column. 3) The best way (if possible) would be to use the games API to list just that days reward next to each zone name and still have it sortable.

This brings up the question if all the zones have the same number of types of rewards will it be a simple repeating rotation or is there some randomness thrown in.

Rewards are generally specified in entries for various mobs or types of chests. Another problem with specifying rewards by zone is the number will vary, depending on the numbers of each type of mob and/or chests. ~ 1Maven (talk) 14:39, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
There is a rotation afaik, and when we document it (or it gets an API endpoint) we can probably implement it into the zone pages, like the world boss schedule. A page for all map bonuses is also a good idea. Tyndel (talk) 14:48, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

HoT Attuned rings[edit]

Attuned rings are a new type of equipment added to heart of thorns. They seem intended to expand the total amount of agony resistance that a player can have in the fractals. I added a mention for the attuned rings to the heart of thorns page (under fractals), and created a dedicated page for them in the wiki (Attuned). I've think I've created a decent start regarding informational content on the new page, but I don't know much about the formatting conventions and rules of this wiki. I would appreciate any help that you may supply in formatting the new page in a more standard way. See Attuned. Thanks in advance for your assistance! DanR (talk) 21:37, 6 November 2015 (UTC)

Table for Masteries required[edit]

It seems to me we need a table of masteries that are required to progress the storyline for HoT. However, I'm not sure whether it belongs on this page, or the masteries page, or possibly the storyline page (which doesn't currently deal with HoT).

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Ideal-order-to-earn-Maguuma-masteries/first#post5759935 contains a list that we can start with:

  • Gliding 1
  • Itzel 1
  • Exalted 1
  • Gliding 2
  • Nuloch 1
  • Nuhoch 2
  • Gliding 3

Columns for the table would be (IMO)

  • Mastery Name
  • Level
  • Description
  • Req'd for story (true/false)
  • Req'd for map completion (true/false)
  • Req'd for other mastery (name)

Please offer suggestions as to changes, columns to include, and values in the table's cells. Also, I don't know how to create a table, but I would like to learn. So, when we get something presentable, can I get someone to help me learn?

Thanks! Daddicus (talk)

First Elite Specs[edit]

  • Dragonhunter: Braham
  • Herald: Rytlock
  • Reaper: Marjory
Who else? User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 05:37, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
I think that's all. Kasmeer doesn't seem to display any chronomancer abilities, Canach is a regular warrior, Taimi doesn't have any abilities outside of Scruffy and Caithe is just a regular thief. —Ventriloquist 10:19, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

could someone revert what I just did? I was editing the wrong one apparently!

Editions Available[edit]

This section needs an update to include Path of Fire. I'm afraid I don't know how to make tables/boxes/whatever they are called. Inculpatus cedo (talk) 07:03, 23 March 2018 (UTC)

Path of Fire editions would be listed on the Path of Fire page. I don't think there were any editions of PoF that included HoT, and even if you had bundles, I don't know if this page should be updated or not.--Rognik (talk) 01:58, 24 March 2018 (UTC)
Ahh, I didn't realize it was the 'Heart of Thorns' page; I just followed a link from the FAQ page here that talked about purchasing an expansion. My apologies. Inculpatus cedo (talk) 04:08, 24 March 2018 (UTC)
"The expansion is available through the official website and the in-game Black Lion Trading Company panel."
This is not fully true: currently (March 2019) it's no longer possible to find HoT in the official web shop. Attempt to follow the old link redirects to the PoF expansion. There HoT can be added during the acquisition of PoF, but it cannot be separated. However, HoT still exists among the items in the BLTC (it's not clear, whether this was intentional or occasional). Should the article be corrected, at least about the web shop? --109.252.109.7 08:39, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
The link to buy HoT works for me. --BuffsEverywhere (talk) 20:38, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
Well, I have carried out some tests using the SurfEasy VPN Chrome extension with the HoT link. The result depends on the country or region.
Austraila, Brazil, Singapore, US:
HoT standard, HoT+PoF standard collection.
Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Spain, Ukraine, UK:
PoF standard, deluxe, ultimate; HoT is not available.
Whether this separation is intentional or not, hard to say, but people who want to buy HoT only, need to use VPN in some regions, primarily in Europe. You can try to do the same (don't forget to clear browser cookies after each change in VPN). I think this should be noted in the article. --109.252.109.7 21:08, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
