“After spending so much time cultivating this powerful vine through the generations, it's hard to not feel an attachment to it. Your beloved pet almost cuddles you in its tendrils. Clearly it feels a similar attachment.

Unused Infusion Slot — In-game description
Mawdrey is an ascended back item introduced in The Dragon's Reach: Part 2 release. It is the final generation of plant cultivated by players after having grown the Mysterious Vine and Cultivated Vine. To grow it, players must use a Pet Seed which is awarded upon completing the Cultivated Vine. It requires additional resources from Dry Top, jumping puzzles, Mini-dungeons, and Fractals of the Mists, making the process of acquiring Mawdrey into more of a scavenger hunt than a simple crafting procedure. Upon creating Mawdrey, players are also awarded with Mawdrey II. Additionally, Mawdrey can be infused in the Mystic Forge.
Acquisition[edit]
- Primary article: Mawdrey/Walkthrough
Mawdrey is created by planting a Pet Seed into a Mists Infused Clay Pot. The resultant plant must be fed, exposed to light, and heated in a process outlined below.
Scavenger hunt ingredients[edit]
The following items must be obtained in order to craft Mawdrey.
Item | Acquisition |
---|---|
Pet Seed | Awarded automatically upon creating the Cultivated Vine |
Mists Stone | Purchased from BUY-2046 PFR in the Fractals of the Mists for 5 Pristine Fractal Relics |
Pile of Elemental Essence | Taken from any of the four sources of elemental power inside the Hidden Garden jumping puzzle. The easiest to reach is the earth power, located under the tree. |
Water of Rhand | Gathered from the Font of Rhand Mini-dungeon in Diessa Plateau by interacting with the Fresh Water located in the first underwater chamber, beneath the floor that must be broken using the mortar |
Box of Captured Light | Gathered in the Forsaken Fortune Mini-dungeon in Dredgehaunt Cliffs by interacting with sunbeams shining down on the broken bridges in the second room |
Heart of the Destroyer | Gathered at Maelstrom's Core in Mount Maelstrom by interacting with the the Heart of the Destroyer on a ledge overhanging the central lava chamber |
Cost and materials[edit]
These lists assume the player has completed the Cultivated Vine and only needs to grow Mawdrey. A list covering the total cost of all generations is found below.
Minimum[edit]
This list provides the minimum number of tokens and materials required to craft Mawdrey assuming that everything which can be bought on the trading post is bought. Due to the time-gated recipes, it is cheaper (but much more time consuming) to craft the items yourself, so a list for this is provided in the next section. The final list is separated into unbound items that can be bought on the trading post and account or soulbound items that must be gathered. In order to craft Mawdrey, players must be at least 450 in any one of the weapon or armor producing disciplines.
Item | Discipline(s) | Materials | Acquisition |
---|---|---|---|

| |
Package of Elementally Charged Plant Food | Mystic Forge |

Complete[edit]
This list assumes that players will purchase and make use of all crafting recipes to reduce the cost of crafting Mawdrey. Prices given in geodes will vary depending on the Favor of the Zephyrites tier that is reached. A range from tier 3 (the minimum tier required to unlock recipes) and tier 6 is provided. Tier 4 is the highest tier that unorganized runs consistently reach, therefore a cost assuming tier 4 is provided as well. It is possible to get Bricks of Clay at tier 1, but this is a waste of geodes because players crafting Mawdrey must access a tier 3 server no matter what. The final list is separated into unbound materials which can be bought on the trading post or gathered and account or soulbound materials that must be gathered. Note that all recipes except for the Heat Stone must already be learned to reach this point, so are not included in the cost. To use the recipes, players must have 400 Artificer, Huntsman, Chef, and Jeweler, as well as 500 in any armor producing discipline. The Clay Pot, Plates of Meaty and Piquant Plant Food, Charged Quartz Crystals, Grow Lamp, and Heat Stone are all time gated to one per day, meaning it takes a minimum of 10 days to craft the required amount.

Trivia[edit]
- Mawdrey and Mawdrey II. are references to the musical Little Shop of Horrors by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman featuring an evil alien plant named "Audrey II." after the main protagonist's love interest, Audrey. The musical was based on a 1960 Roger Corman film of the same name.
