Gourmet Training
Gourmet Training is a Tradesman achievement. It is unlocked after reaching Chef level 425 and giving a Chef's Tasting Platter to Sous-Chef Seimur Oxbone within the home instance or Homestead. Completing the achievement permanently unlocks the following features:
- A Cooking Station for the home instance and Homestead (only on Chef characters over 425 — even if that character does not have the Chef crafting discipline active at that moment)
- A Garden plot for the home instance and Homestead (all characters)
- Varietal versions of Cilantro, Clove, Mint, Peppercorn, and Sesame seeds will begin dropping from open-world herb nodes.
- Cuts of Quality Red Meat will begin dropping from all mobs that also drop Slabs of Red Meat.
- 50 levels in Chef (10 per racial section completed), bringing you to a minimum cooking level of 475.
- Sous-Chef Seimur Oxbone will act as a merchant, selling cooking supplies in your home instance and Homestead (only on Chef characters over 425, after that character gave Seimur a Chef's Tasting Platter).

Collection items[edit]
Walkthrough[edit]
To begin, a character needs to raise their Chef rank to 425. A good way to do this is to first apply boosts such as Crafting Booster, and Guild Crafting Boost, then discover rank 350 to 400 recipes until you reach rank 425.
Upon becoming Rank 425 Chef, Sous-Chef Seimur Oxbone will contact the character, asking them to prepare a Chef's Tasting Platter to be presented to him in the home instance. His location in each cities' home instance varies, but is always marked with the icon on the map. After presenting the platter, Seimur will direct you to the master chefs in each race's main city.
Planning the section tasks[edit]
Though each individual section must be completed in its own particular order, the overall racial achievements may be done in any order, and you can work on multiple sections at a time. Some factors to consider when deciding how to plan your tasks:
- The food items crafted for the city master chefs must be crafted at the cooking station next to that chef during the achievement. They will not accept pre-crafted food or food crafted anywhere else.
- The asura section will require 15 gold.
- The asura section is the only section which requires a cooking level of 450 to progress so it is recommended to complete it after 2-3 other sections, as you will automatically gain 10 chef levels for completing each section and will also level up by discovering some recipes as you go. Completing the charr section before it will also get you the required Cut of Quality Red Meat.
- Some sections involve potentially time-gated components:
- The human section requires 3 Heat Stones which can be purchased from the trading post, but if you prefer to craft them instead it will take a minimum of 3 days.
- The sylvari section involves crafting a Portable Composter, which requires items that can be bought from the trading post (1x Elonian Leather Square and 4x Spiritwood Planks), but if you prefer to craft them it involves items that take a minimum of 4 days (1x Spool of Thick Elonian Cord and 4x Glob of Elder Spirit Residue).
- The norn section requires 5x Deldrimor Steel Ingots and 1x Spiritwood Plank which can be bought from the trading post, but if you prefer to craft them it involves items that take a minimum of 5 days (5x Lump of Mithrillium and 1x Glob of Elder Spirit Residue).
- The norn section additionally features a mandatory two-hour wait which starts after you give Einar the required materials.
- Some sections require you to explore the open world and include potentially time-consuming activities:
- The sylvari section involves foraging for Varietal Herb Seeds from herb nodes in the open world. Purchasing the Seeds on the Trading Post does not count. (Remember to talk to Mender Earie before doing this.)
- The charr section involves completing an event and killing animals in Diessa Plateau.
- The norn section requires crafting 5x Dragonite Ingots (cannot be bought), which requires collecting 500x Dragonite Ore (cannot be bought or crafted).
- The human section takes you to Mount Maelstrom. It also requires crafting 10x Bloodstone Bricks (cannot be bought), which requires collecting 1000x Pile of Bloodstone Dust (cannot be bought or crafted).
- Upon completing the collection you may find yourself still a few levels short of 500. Discovering master-rank ascended recipes can help with those. The sylvari section unlocks a garden plot which allows you to harvest some ascended herbs required for crafting those recipes. Please note that you need to be level 475 to plant using a Seed Pouch, and that you need to wait for the next daily reset to harvest once you've planted them. There is however no discipline level requirement for harvesting, and as such you can harvest from a plot on another character.
Cost estimates[edit]
The following items constitute the bulk of the costs. Please note that they can be crafted instead for potentially lower cost (but they are timegated and can take up to 5 days to craft).

---|---|---|---|
3 | Heat Stone | ... | ... |
1 | Elonian Leather Square | ... | ... |
5 | Spiritwood Plank | ... | ... |

Norn[edit]
Head to Reimar in Hoelbrak. Once there, you will be asked to cook one of each of the following:
While satisfied with your chef's skills, Reimar thinks they would perform better given high-quality cookware. As such, she sends them off to meet Einar Blackforge at Master Blackforge's Steading. Take the Shelter Rock Waypoint — and head north-east towards the Point of Interest, where you'll find Einar. In order to make truly remarkable cookware, the blacksmith requires some top-notch material, namely he will ask for the following to be brought to him:
- Deldrimor Steel Ingot (5)
- Dragonite Ingot (5)
- Spiritwood Plank (1)
Once delivered, he will need one in-game day, or 2 hours in real time, to complete the project. This timer can be tracked by the Waiting for Einar effect on the buff bar, and it will continue counting down even while you are logged out of the game. Return to him after the buff has expired to obtain Magically Imbued Cookware, which completes this section and gives you 10 chef ranks.
Sylvari[edit]
Head to the Reckoner's Waypoint — , and then the chef station to the northeast. Talk to Bhia to begin the next section. Cook the following sylvari specialty dishes:
Bhia will then offer to improve your chef's seasonings by sending them to meet her spice supplier, Mender Earie in Gardenroot Tunnel. From Reckoner's Waypoint, head north west and across a vine bridge into the tunnel. Hang right, and Earie will be there in an alcove.
Talk to the mender, and he will send your character off to gather some Varietal Herb Seeds. The seeds are a random drop from any herb-type node in Central-Tyria. One decent spot to farm these are Verdant Herbs along the shore north of Forge Foundations — . Note that these seeds are only an eligible drop when gathering herb-nodes on the same character that started the collection. When ready, return to Earie, who will then unlock the recipe to craft Portable Composter:
Make one at any cooking station, then return to him one last time to complete this section, and receive 10 chef ranks and a garden plot in your home instance. Note: if you already have the Portable Composter from a previous time doing this collection, you don't have to craft it again. You only have to carry it in your inventory in order to proceed.
Charr[edit]
Head to the Black Citadel to meet master chef Gurges Burnpaw northwest of Factorium Waypoint — , who will ask your chef to demonstrate their skills with meat. Cook the following at one of the nearby stations:
Unimpressed by the character's subpar cuts, the charr chef sends them off to seek tutelage from a master butcher in Diessa Plateau, Vaastas Meatslayer.
Travel to Butcher's Block Waypoint — , and head to the south side of the Village of Butcher's Block. For Vaastas to demonstrate his superior butchering, players must first complete the Help Kiboz Rapideater herd cattle to Butcher's Block event, which starts from Bovarin Estate to the southeast.
Once the event is completed, wait for Vaastas to prepare the newly-arrived beef, and return to his stationary spot. Talk to him once more, and he will task your character to practice their butchering skills by bringing him two collection-only versions of a Cut of Quality Red Meat and a Slab of Poultry Meat. Both items are random drops from mobs in Diessa Plateau, the former from wargs (south of Bloodcliff Waypoint — ), black bears (near Manbane's Waypoint — ), wolves and deers (northeast of Charradis Estate Waypoint — ); the latter is dropped from crimson moas (near Bloodcliff Waypoint — ). While the collection versions may or may not be limited to Diessa Plateau, the regular Cut of Quality Red Meat will drop from NPCs that normally drop Slab of Red Meat once unlocked, but these items are irrelevant for progressing Vaastas' steps.
When ready, meet Vaastas once more to present your samples. Satisfied with the results, he'll raise your chef's rank by 10.
Human[edit]
Go to Divinity's Reach for the human section. Talk to Sage near Commons Waypoint — , and bake the following:
- Bowl of Roasted Lotus Root
- Flatbread (speak to Sage to purchase the necessary recipes if you don't have access to the Heart of Thorns expansion.)
- Chocolate Omnomberry Cake
Suffer Sage's criticism, and follow his instructions to meet Luron the Baker. From Sage's kitchen, turn left, and the take the next right into Dwayna Low Road to find Luron's bakery near the middle. Before you do so, make sure you have the following in your inventory:
- Heat Stone (3)
- Bloodstone Brick (10)
Give Luron the Heatstones, then port to Magmatic Waypoint — . Climb the side of Mount Maelstrom towards Hellmouth Falls — . Dip the Heatstones into the magma on the character that is a chef, and hurry back to Luron via Dwayna Waypoint — to hand in the Bloodstone Bricks as requested (Make sure all 10 Bloodstone Bricks are in your inventory prior to talking to Luron).
Visit your home instance and wait for the Deliveryman to walk up to your old oven and replace it with the upgraded oven (see gallery below), earning you 10 chef ranks.
Asura[edit]
Head to Accountancy Waypoint — in Rata Sum to begin the asura section. The cooking station here is to the south of the waypoint. Talk to Prazz, then prepare the following dishes:
Satisfied (for once!), Prazz offers to bring your chef's culinary abilities to the next level by introducing them to Gastronome Plikk, a pioneer of food technology. Hop down to Auxiliary Waypoint — , and towards the nearby Point of Interest, where Plikk has set up shop. Buy Plikk's Immersion Circulation System, return to the cooking station, and prepare a Filet of Sous-Vide Meat using the Cut of Quality Red Meat from earlier. Return to Plikk with the Sous-Vide Meat in your inventory and buy Plikk's Fluid Gas Infuser and Plikk's Food Form Manipulator to complete this section and earn 10 chef ranks.
Dialogue[edit]
The following letter is sent by Sous-Chef Seimur Oxbone to the chef.
Seimur Oxbone Is it true? People are talking about you. Chefs, mostly. They're saying that you're some kind of rising culinary superstar. I know talent when I taste it, so why don't you cook me a Chef's Tasting Platter and I'll give you my professional opinion. With my help, you can attain greatness! I'll be waiting near your home. Chop chop!—Seimur |
- Speaking to Seimur
- Before unlocking the collection
- I took the liberty of setting up a small kitchen to work in. Don't worry, I clean up all my messes. So, got anything for me to taste?
- (with Chef's Tasting Platter in inventory)
- Try this sample platter I made.
- I...wow. You know your way around a kitchen, don't you. This is decadent! Here, I'm writing you a letter of recommendation to continue your culinary studies. No thanks necessary.
- That's generous of you.
- Like I always say, I know talent when I taste it. You're going places! Speak to the chef master in each capital city and learn their specialties. I'll mail my recommendations.
- Thanks. I'll do that.
- Okay.
- Hang on. Let me cook something for you.
- After unlocking the collection
- You're learning, but you've still got ways to go. Go speak to the chef trainers in each capital city. I'm sure they can teach you a thing or two.
- Who is the norn chef trainer?
- Seek out Reimar in the Trade Commons area of Hoelbrak.
- I have another question.
- Thanks.
- Who is the sylvari chef trainer?
- Seek out Bhia in the Maker's Terrace section of the Grove.
- I have another question.
- Thanks.
- Who is the charr chef trainer?
- Seek out Gurges Burnpaw in the Canton Factorium area of the Black Citadel.
- I have another question.
- Thanks.
- Who is the asura chef trainer?
- Seek out Prazz in the Synergetics Union section of Rata Sum.
- I have another question.
- Thanks.
- Who is the human chef trainer?
- Seek out Sage in the District Promenade area of Divinity's Reach.
- I have another question.
- Thanks.
- Tell me about yourself, Seimur.
- I think outside the bread box! Some have said my culinary creations involving bloodstone dust are too advanced. Dangerous. But I believe it has potential in cooking. I'm just experiencing a...setback.
- Bloodstone dust isn't for seasoning—it's for making bricks. (after obtaining Ascended Cookware)
- You're just like the others. Why does no one believe in its culinary applications? Sure, when used liberally it results in violent illness, but... just leave me to my thoughts, okay?
- Good-bye.
- Fresh herbs can elevate a dish. (after completing Garden Plot Deed step)
- In hindsight it seems so obvious, but I was so focused on bloodstone dust at the time that I completely overlooked the basics of good cooking, like using quality herbs and spices.
- Now you know better.
- Skilled knife work makes a huge difference when preparing meat. (after learning Charr Meat-Curing Techniques)
- Not all cuts are equal! Strange how an act as simple as cutting meat requires practice, concentration and focus. Gives you a lot to think about.
- Good-bye.
- You seemed pretty upset by that new oven. (after Bloodstone Brick Oven gets built in your home instance)
- To think that I had been so close all along... It just stung to realize that I as ultimately wrong. It hurts, you know?
- At least you learned something.
- There's more to cooking than an open flame. (after purchasing Plikk's Food Form Manipulator from Plikk)
- Immersion circulation? Who would've thought! There's more than one way to cook a steak, I guess.
- Good-bye.
- You may need to rethink your strategy here.
- Thanks for the advice.
- If you have not yet collected your finished cookware from Einar
- A norn named Einar came around looking for you. He said, and I quote, "Tell <character name> to come pick up the tools or I'm going to keep them." You got that?
- I'll take care of it
- Speaking to Reimar in Hoelbrak
- Eating isn't just about survival. Food nourishes the heart and mind just as it does the body.
- (Before getting her task)
- Seimur said you can teach me new dishes.
- Seimur's wrong about a lot of things. Like the culinary applications of bloodstone dust. But he's right that I can teach you. What do you want to know?
- I want to learn norn specialties.
- The heartiest of meals! Food that warms your belly. All right. Make me a Bowl of Snow Truffle Soup, a Sesame-Roasted Dinner, and some Sage-Stuffed Poultry. And no bloodstone dust, okay?
- Got it.
- Never mind.
- After crafting all three items
- I think you've got an appreciation for the norn palate. I'll get you in on a secret through—the cookware at most public stations isn't the greatest quality. That's what's holding your dishes back.
- It always seemed fine to me.
- You need high-quality cookware if you want to be legendary. It's what separates cooks from chefs! Find Einar Blackforge at his steading in Shelter Rock He'll help you out.
- I'll do that.
- Okay.
- Speaking to Einar Blackforge
- My home is yours. Make yourself comfortable.
- (Before getting his task)
- Reimar says you're an expert on cookware.
- She doesn't lie! Truth be told, I've been itching for a new project. So tell me: What can we make for you?
- I want the best cookware you can make.
- Haha. Straight to the point! All right. I'm going to need 5 Deldrimor Steel Ingots, 5 Dragonite Ingots, and 1 Spiritwood Plank. Bring it all here and I'll make you the cookware.
- It's a deal.
- I'll be back with the materials you asked for.
- I don't need anything now, actually.
- (While waiting for him to finish)
- Are you finished crafting my cookware yet?
- You can't rush perfection! Come back later.
- Okay.
- (After he has finished)
- Are you finished crafting my cookware yet?
- What timing! Behold my finest work! Go forth and make some culinary magic with these legendary vessels. Metaphorically speaking, of course.
- I'll treasure them forever.
- After getting all three items
- Looks like everything's here. Come back tomorrow, and I'll have forged you the finest cookware your eyes have gazed upon! I'm sure you've got plenty to keep you busy in the meantime, eh? (applies Waiting for Einar for 2 hours)
- I look forward to it.
- Speaking to Bhia in the Grove
- Eating isn't just about survival. Food nourishes the heart and mind just as it does the body.
- (Before getting her task)
- Seimur said you could make me a better chef.
- Did he? Well, he was correct. As I like to say to my students, "All things have a right to cook. Even you!" They don't laugh at my jokes, however.
- Um...can you teach me some uniquely sylvari dishes?
- Of course! How about this: make me a Filet of Rosemary-Roasted Meat, a Bowl of Artichoke Soup, and a Bowl of Poultry Tarragon Pasta. I'll taste them and evaluate your work. Yes?
- Yes.
- I don't need anything now, actually.
- (After getting her task)
- Which dishes did you want me to make?
- Let me watch you prepare a Fillet of Rosemary-Roasted Meat, a Bowl of Artichoke Soup, and a Bowl of Poultry Tarragon Pasta. I can't wait to taste them!
- I'll get started.
- After crafting all three items
- Your dishes are missing something. Mmm. Yes. You've underseasoned them. The key to unlocking truly excellent flavors in your food is to use fresh herbs and spices.
- Where can I get better spices?
- I get mine from a gardener just north of the Gardenroot Tunnel. I'm sure he'd be willing to help you out if you're nice enough.
- I'll talk to him.
- Okay.
- Speaking to Mender Earie
- This is a lovely place for a small garden, don't you think?
- (Before getting his task)
- Bhia told me you grow the best ingredients for her here.
- She's too much! Yes, I give her some herbs from time to time. If she's told you about my garden, you must be a talented chef, no?
- I'm learning. Can you teach me to garden?
- Of course! I'd be happy to teach you. The first step is gathering seeds for your own garden. Let me demonstrate for you, and then you can go into the wild and bring me back some seeds.
- That's very generous of you.
- (If you own a Black Lion Garden Plot Deed)
- I have one just like it.
- (otherwise)
- It's quite nice and secluded.
- Did you need my help with something?
- (After getting the task)
- Remind me what I'm supposed to do?
- Please gather varietal seeds and bring them back to me.
- Got it.
- (with Varietal Seed in your inventory)
- I have the seeds you asked for.
- Good. Now you'll want to plant them with some fertilizer. I'll teach you how to make a portable composter that will quickly decompose food for you.
- Thank you.
- (with a Portable Composter in your inventory)
- I've crafted a composter.
- Excellent! Now, you can decompose magically imbued food to obtain an extract of its nourishing properties.
- What can I use the extract for?
- If you add the finest Extract of Nourishment when you plant crops, they will be imbued with additional properties. I'm sure you'll grow some very special herbs with this in your compost.
- I never would have guessed.
- I'm so pleased that you have an interest in gardening. How about I set up a plot at your home for you to tend at your leisure? I'll ask a friend to watch your crops while you're away.
- I'd like that very much.
- Here are a few seeds to get you started. (Obtain Garden Plot Deed, Varietal Mint Seed, Varietal Sesame Seed, Varietal Peppercorn Seed, Varietal Clove Seed, Varietal Cilantro Seed; learn various recipes)
- Thank you.
- No thanks.
- Thank you.
- Okay.
- Speaking to Gurges Burnpaw in the Black Citadel
- Eating isn't just about survival. Food nourishes the heart and mind just as it does the body.
- (Before getting the task)
- Seimur said you could teach me charr cooking.
- How's the ol' lunkhead? He still banging on about bloodstone dust? I told him it was a bad idea. On second thought, I don't wanna know. Yeah, I can teach you, so long as you're not afraid of work.
- I want to learn charr specialty dishes.
- It's all about the meat! Well, and the spices, too. Cook me some Spicy Meat Chili, Plates of Lemongrass Poultry, and a Fire Flank Steak. Master those for starters.
- I'll get my ingredients and start cooking.
- Thank you.
- After crafting all three items
- The spices in your dishes are balanced, but your meat is terrible. Where did you find this roadkill? Did a buzzard cough it up?
- Uh..
- If you wanna compete with the best, you need better meat! I got a friend in Butcher's Block. Name's Vaastas Meatslayer. As his name would imply, he's a master butcher. He'll hook you up.
- As in, meat hook?
- You don't have to be rude
- Speaking to Vaastas Meatslayer
- The meat from Bovarin Estate is the best you've ever tasted. I hate to brag...but for you, I'll make an exception. My method of curing and seasoning is perfection. You've got to try some.
- (or)
- I'm out of Vobarin beef, but don't panic. I ordered more. Those ranchers at Bovarin Estate really know how to do cows right.
- (Before getting his task)
- Burges Burnpaw said you have the best meat around.
- Guilty as charged! I have a sweet deal with the Bovarin Estate. They provide me with top-quality beef, and I sell the choice cuts to discerning buyers. But don't tell anyone for I'll fillet you! Haha.
- Teach me how to get better cuts of meat.
- I'll have a new shipment on its way son. I'll demonstrate the proper technique for you when they arrive. In the meantime, eat some meat!
- I'll do that.
- Okay.
- (After watching him preparing the new beef)
- Thanks for the butchering lessons.
- Go out and practice what you've learned on the wildlife. When you've gotten quality cuts of red meat and poultry, come let me know.
- I'll do that.
- (After collecting Cut of Quality Red Meat and Slab of Poultry Meat)
- I followed your technique. Check out my cuts.
- Well, aren't you a quick study. Looks like you may be ready to handle my recipes. Congratulations, scrub!
- Uh...thanks?
- Here's a few extra cuts to get you started, on the house.
- Thank you.
- Good-bye,
- Speaking to Sage in Divinity's Reach
- Eating isn't just about survival. Food nourishes the heart and mind just as it does the body.
- Before getting his task
- I'm here to learn. Seimur sent me.
- I've been expecting you. Got Seimur's letter. He's taken a keen interest in you. Says you've got talent, but I'll be the judge of that.
- What are your specialty dishes?
- In Divinity's Reach? Baking. It's all about the bread. I need you to make me a Bowl of Roasted Lotus Root, a Chocolate Omnomberry Cake, and a Flatbread. Think you can do that?
- What do i need to make Flatbread?
- This is a special recipe. Uses Cassava Root, which we import from far off. I can sell you the recipe if you need it.
- Thank you.
- I'll gather my ingredients and get started.
- Thank you.
- I need cooking supplies.
- I have some questions about cooking.
- True words. Have a good day.
- After crafting all three items
- Not bad, but I noticed some inconsistencies in your dishes. Your baking was uneven. The food was undercooked in spots. A little doughy, you could say.
- It's hard to maintain temperature with these ovens.
- Every oven is a little different You have to learn where the hot spots are and know just where to place your dishes for even baking.
- I'm never in the same place for very long.
- You should see Luron. He has a bakery on the Dwayna Low Road. He's been working on some new oven advancements that could help you get more consistent results.
- Thanks
- Okay
- Okay
- Speaking to Luron the Baker
- Hello! Would you like a delicious treat?
- (Before getting his task)
- Sage said you could help me improve my baking skills.
- Having some issues, huh? It can be extremely difficult to get all the variables exactly right in baking. Temperature, duration, measurements...
- How do you keep temperature consistent?
- Get to know your oven. Keeping a reliable and consistent temperature is tricky, so the quality of material, type and amount of wood, and size all factor in to the greater cooking equation.
- The public kitchens vary a lot.
- You need your own oven. I've been designing a convection model that might help you out. It heats the food more evenly. If you can get me the materials, I'll let you keep the first prototype!
- Deal. What do you need?
- Well, this thing is going to be a magical marvel. Instead of wood, it'll heat the stone itself to the right temperature! Bring me three Heat Stones to experiment with.
- I have the Heat Stones you asked for. (with three heat stones in your inventory - see below)
- I'll be right back.
- Not right now.
- Okay
- Right.
- (with three heat stones in your inventory)
- I have the Heat Stones you asked for.
- Hmm, these are certainly warm, but it doesn't look like they'll handle the high temperatures we need. Go soak these in some boiling-hot magma to temper them. Either they'll work...or they'll melt!
- Boiling-hot magma?
- The stones should theoretically gain much greater potency from exposure to significant heat. I'm sure you can find a pool on Mount Maelstrom that will suffice. Get going!
- This sounds like a bad idea.
- Boiling-hot magma?
- I'll be right back.
- Hmm, these are certainly warm, but it doesn't look like they'll handle the high temperatures we need. Go soak these in some boiling-hot magma to temper them. Either they'll work...or they'll melt!
- (after heating the heat stones)
- I put the Heat Stones in magma, and now they're really hot.
- What did you think would happen? Heh, these will do very nicely. Now we need to finish the oven enclosure. Bloodstone Bricks would do. I'll probably need about 10.
- You want to cook food...in a Bloodstone oven?
- I know Bloodstone Dust has a bad reputation—thank you very much, Seimur Oxbone—but refined Bloodstone Bricks are a perfect insulator to retain heat. Just don't eat them, okay?
- I have some doubt, but I'll get your bricks.
- I'll be back with the materials you asked for.
- (after getting the Bloodstone Bricks)
- I brought the Bloodstone Bricks you wanted.
- Excellent. Let me finish putting this together, and I'll have it delivered to your home. Go on, now. Leave me to work!
- Thanks for everything.
- (while still collecting items)
- Remind me what I'm supposed to do?
- (if on the heat stones step)
- Go soak three Heat Stones in some boiling-hot magma on Mount Maelstrom to temper them. Either they'll work...or they'll melt!
- I'll be right back.
- Boiling-hot magma? (same as above)
- (if on the bloodstone bricks step)
- Refined Bloodstone Bricks are a perfect insulator to retain heat. Please bring me 10.
- You want to cook food...in a Bloodstone oven?
- I'll be back with the materials you asked for. (same as above)
- (if on the heat stones step)
- (after bringing all items)
- When can I pick up the prototype oven?
- Like I said, I'll have it delivered to your home when its finished. Don't rush me, or I'll take twice as long. Ha!
- Right.
- Interacting with the Boiling Hot Magma in Mount Maelstrom
- The intense heat from the bubbling pool of lava bites at your face.
- [Dip the Heat Stones in the magma.]
- The stones bask in the inferno and absorb an immense amount of heat.
- I'll wrap them up and take them back to Luron.
- It's too hot here.
- Speaking to Prazz in Rata Sum
- Eating isn't just about survival. Food nourishes the heart and mind just as it does the body.
- (Before getting his task)
- Seimur suggested I learn about asuran cooking.
- Yeah, I got his letter. I'm not sure why he thought you needed a recommendation, but I'm happy to help a fellow chef if you're willing to get your hands dirty.
- What dishes do you consider asuran specialties?
- Make me a Bowl of Tropical Mousse, a Bowl of Truffle Sautee, and an Omnomberry Ghost, and I'll watch your technique.
- I'll gather my ingredients and get started.
- Thank you.
- After crafting all three items
- You wanna know what I think? I think you're ready to go beyond the common kitchens of the world and ascend to the next level of cooking.
- Next level?
- It's time to broaden your horizons and become a food pioneer! Find Gastronome Plikk in the Auxiliary Study Rooms. She'll show you the cutting edge of food technology. Careful, it's sharp! Heh heh.
- I'll do that. Thanks.
- Thank you.
- It's time to broaden your horizons and become a food pioneer! Find Gastronome Plikk in the Auxiliary Study Rooms. She'll show you the cutting edge of food technology. Careful, it's sharp! Heh heh.
- Speaking to Gastronome Plikk
- My drinks aren't for just anyone. Only those who have the refined palate of a connoisseus can appreciate my portables' intricate flavors.
- (Before getting her task)
- Prazz says you're an expert on modern cuisine.
- I've been on the bleeding edge for years. I don't share my research...but if Prazz sent you, he must think you're capable. So tell me, are you?
- I want to learn from you.
- Prepare to expand your mind! I call it Plikk's Immersion Circulation System, and you can have the honor of purchasing my first retail unit.
- Let me have a look.
- After cooking the meat evenly, you want to get a good sear on the outside to seal in the flavor, give it a nice crust. Go try it out and come back when you've prepared a Filet of Sous-Vide Meat. (Note: If you have not yet learned the Charr techniques, you'll have to purchase a Cut of Quality Red Meat from the Trading Post)
- Okay.
- I'm not ready just yet.
- I'll be back.
- I want to learn from you.
- Then you've lost my business.
- I've been on the bleeding edge for years. I don't share my research...but if Prazz sent you, he must think you're capable. So tell me, are you?
- (After getting her task)
- What did you want me to do?
- If you can't remember simple directions, are you sure you're top-chef material? Show me you can make a Filet of Sous-Vide Meat.
- I'll be back.
- (With Filet of Sous-Vide Meat in your inventory)
- I've prepared some sous-vide meat for you.
- Your seasoning is off and you need to work on your searing technique, but you prepared it magnificently for you first attempt. I entrust my culinary technology to you.
- Thank you very much.

Notes[edit]
- While some of the unlockable features from this collection are account-wide, such as the home instance garden plot and the ability to receive varietal seeds, this collection's progression is character-based:
- Only characters progressing the collection can have the conversations with the Master Chefs and receive specific drops like the Varietal Herb Seeds.
- If multiple characters are working towards this achievement at the same time, only the first character interacting with any of the Master Chefs will progress the achievement. The additional character(s) may still interact, but the global achievement will not progress.
- Sous-Chef Seimur Oxbone will retain the "collection objective" icon over his head in home instances for any character who hasn't completed the collection. It turns into the usual vendor overhead icon once that character completes the collection.
- Similarly, if a character levels to 425 Chef or more without doing (or completing) the collection, they will see the non-upgraded station in the home instance even if another character has already completed the collection.
- The collection can be repeated to upgrade the appearance of the cooking station for that character.
- The chef station in your home instance will be visually upgraded after completing each section of the achievement. For the human section, this involves a deliveryman appearing and building a bloodstone brick oven in front of a horrified Seimur.
- Only the Sylvari (for ascended spices), Charr (for quality meat, cured meat), and Asura (for sous vide meat, globs of gelatin) need to be completed to craft all ascended recipes. You will also need the flatbread recipe, which you can buy from Sage.
- Despite the dialogue complaints about public Chef crafting stations, all recipes and discoveries are available from any Chef crafting station.
