A New Friend is an achievement to obtain the Skyscale mount via the Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure expansion.

Walkthrough

Note

Since you require Rising Spirits, which is the last step of the Flight Training mastery track, it may be a good idea to train this mastery track at the same time while you do the other steps if you haven't trained it yet. Additionally, training the first Flight Training mastery, Who Rescues Whom?, is required in order to see Abandoned Skyscale Nests.

First Step

The first step is to plunder Abandoned Skyscale Nests which are located around Skywatch Archipelago or Amnytas.

The number of nests needed to visit is random, often taking between 10-20 nests. Visiting nests until you find the egg, completes the "Find an abandoned skyscale egg" step.

The nests respawn with the weekly reset on Sundays. Already visited nests can still give the egg.

Second Step

Talk to Skyscale Trainer Dyanne at the Beacon of Ages to unlock the collections Skyscale Egg Infusions, Skyscale Growing Comforts and Skyscale Saddle Materials.

Third Step

Complete the Skyscale Egg Infusions collection.

(Since this version of Skyscale of Blood - see next achievement below - requires you to be at Blood Hill, you can alternate reviving the Seraph at Nebo Terrace just south of Blood Hill and killing enemies at Blood Hill while waiting for enemies to respawn or Seraph to die.) Can be tracked with the  Life-Suffused effect. Bug: There is a bug where you cannot get the revive buff with another character (use the character you started the collection).
Skyscale of Blood	Blood Hill Waypoint —			Kill 100 enemies around or within the Blood Hill Camps territory of Gendarran Fields. Can be tracked with the  Blood-Soaked effect.
Skyscale of Growth	Reckoner's Waypoint —			From the waypoint run northwest into the tunnel, then north. Interact with the plants next to Mender Earie
Skyscale of Death	Murdered Dreams Waypoint —			Run west from the waypoint. When you're at the hero point, turn north.
Skyscale of Spirit	Dewclaw Waypoint —			Interact with the hero point. (if applicable : need to have done the quartz charge)
Skyscale of Fear	Fallen Angels Garrison Waypoint —			Attack the chickens on the farm until Angry Chickens attack you.

In addition to the items dropped from defeating enemies of a certain species/group, you will need to purchase items from a few merchants around Tyria.

The Skyscale Treat requires 12 Piece of Skyscale Food, which can be purchased on the Trading Post, crafted using a Charged Quartz Crystal (which has a daily time gate), or purchased from Skyscale Trainer Dyanne.
