Link to Your Guild
- → moved from the badly placed comment on User talk:Tennessee Ernie Ford/Archive 02
Please, would you mind giving me a link to your guild's page... --ICBM 13:41, 12 January 2013 (UTC)
- My guild doesn't have an article on GW2W. Is there a particular reason why you were asking for one? Maybe I can address that in some other way. Regards, – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:34, 12 January 2013 (UTC)
- Na.. I was just searching about for inspiration and tips for another guild page. --ICBM 08:24, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
- Gotcha. If I find an example of a guild article I like on this wiki, I'll let you know. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:41, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
- Ah! n v m, most people aren't much into that bit to get their own guild pages here on the Wiki anyway... --ICBM 21:16, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

At least your version is more useful than what I deleted, which consisted of the phrase, "What do I write here?" —Dr Ishmael 17:40, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- I feel that he deserves something more than a link to a blog that might be removed at any moment. (I actually didn't notice that the page had been created before — did the previous version include his nickname? Or was I just unobservant?)
- In part, I was inspired to create an article, because of seeing what happened to the memory of Lord Brinne. Brinne was a huge, huge fan of RPG games in the pre-MMO universe and at least three popular franchises have tributes to him (Might & Magic, Ultima, and Elder Scrolls). Alas, until recently, the top 10 google searches on his name linked to game walkthroughs with mistaken details or otherwise incorrect information, such as his being an employee of one of the development teams (not true). I don't mind linking to wikipedia for trivia on most "easter egg" references, since the salient info is there to stay, but I feel we owe it to the 15-minutes-of-fame and one-hit-wonder sources of inspiration to leave a lasting description of their influence. Even Kelly Wells probably deserves more than a footnote in Ameranth's article, but since her avatar became an NPC with dialogue, at least she has an article. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:02, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- Nope, I quoted the entirety of the first version up there. —Dr Ishmael 17:09, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- I meant, usually when one tries to create a deleted page (on a wiki), there's a note that says, "hey, your pal Ish deleted an article with that name — you sure you want to start another? (the guy tends to have a good reason for deleting articles)" (I might be misquoting the system message a bit). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:11, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, I see what you were saying. No, it was the same article name; I guess you just didn't see it. —Dr Ishmael 17:32, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
Well
Somehow got from Goldeneye 007 to this, now I know.--Relyk ~ talk < 07:42, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- Not his best imo. His signature piece is 16 tons, a song you might have heard covered by many other artists. (I still think his version is the "best").
- Also, hai Relyk! In my lurking, I've noticed, on your part, some seriously good editing, templatizing/coding, and productive prodding to move conversations/discussions forward. As my human toon says, "impressive!" – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 00:21, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

"The Riches" sounds like a fine resource, but it hasn't been updated since Scarlet appeared. The link to its own forum is dead. "Inquisitive Myths" also seems stale, dated March, 2013. Also, Templar? Witch? What game are they playing? --Gold Recluse (talk) 05:14, 21 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note. I apologize for the stale links. I've been too busy playing or with RL to keep my recommendations updated. I don't know any of these people personally, so I don't know why they stopped posting. I'll start with removing old stuff and I will try to add some newer sites later. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 09:03, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
must be an easier way than trial & error
[1], just do a search by name with https://api.guildwars2.com/v1/map_floor.json?continent_id=1&floor=1 ?--Relyk ~ talk < 04:32, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks! I think I tried every map-related API except that one. Fortunately, it doesn't come up that often and... I had a good idea of where the numbering would start. (Just couldn't untangle the widget code to do my own calculation.) I'll use that next time. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 08:00, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
inventory window bug vs update notes
Hi TEF, you reverted my edit. Before It made my edit I actually tested this in game and your claim that it is now always happening and affecting everyone is clearly wrong cause it isn't happening to me and I opened my inventory many times since the update, both inside and outside. There is a different bug, but it is something I'm unaffected by as well. I think the bugsection in update note should be reserved for major bugs that effects everyone. Cause you did the last edit, I leave it up to you to remove it if we have consensus or state your arguments here if we haven't reached consensus yet.195.240.63.18 20:34, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
- with inside and outside, I ment I switched zones multiple times when testing.195.240.63.18 20:35, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
- See the relevant talk page. (So that we don't restrict discussion to just whoever happens to have this page on their watchlist.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:40, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
"seems a rather important detail"
Per [2]: Except that we haven't concluded how to document it. Yes, the zone's title changed in the loading screen, however it is still Lion's Arch and all the PoI/Areas are the same regardless. See discussion here. I, personally, think it'd be confusing if we make a Lion's Arch (Under Attack!) article, simply because it seems pretty clear the old LA will not be returning (not how it was at least), and it'll lead to the whole issue of one-area/PoI for both versions of LA or people searching for, say, Fort Marriner and wanting the current version which would (following the LA article set up) be at Fort Marriner (Under Attack!). Konig 22:23, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
- My main goal was to ensure that the wiki wasn't ignoring the massive battle taking place that changed everything about that city. Regardless of how we document it, there has to be something prominent on that page. And it should have been done on release day.
- In any case, I don't see why we wouldn't create a separate article for temporary changes to the game: the zone in which we battle Scarlet's Force has a different name. We know that in 2 (or 4 weeks), the battle won't be there any more and whatever exists in LA (UA!) will change again. Once we see what the next release (or two) brings, we might productively discuss whether we want three articles ( LA (Season 1), LA (UA!), and LA) or two (LA and LA (Escape from LA)) or whatever. If we document the temporary content in a separate article, it will be easy to evolve into two or three articles later. If we just update the existing LA article, it will be a complete pain to try to evolve to the new in-game reality.
- There's plenty of time to worry about what to do with Fort Marriner and similar articles. The simplest way is just to add a similar top-note, e.g. "FYI the content mentioned here is temporarily unavailable, see the LA (UA!) article for details." And again, this works because what's going on now won't be in the game in 2 weeks (or perhaps 4, depending on what ANet means by the end of Season 1). For that reason, I don't see any value in creating more than one Under Attack article.
- Finally, the proper place to discuss this is either on the talk page for the release or the talk page for Lion's Arch's own article. It doesn't help if the discussion is accidentally hidden on a project page (that only interests a subset of contributors) or on one person's talk page (especially when that individual probably isn't followed by the vast majority of contributors). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:55, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

Unusual capitalization of "Knowledge is Power"
Kudos
It's so good to see that your allegiances have transferred to GW2. You were always a voice of such sense and sensibility in GW1. Your measured response above to your "pal Ishmael" is yet another example of your tact and ability to take into account the sensitivities of others -- a rare quality on the wiki. As much as I tried to emulate you, I never approached that level of diplomacy, managing only to delete a few offending phrases before hitting the "Save" button. You always seemed to remember so well that the goal is to get something changed, not to engage in one-upsmanship or display your prowess at snide replies. An example to all. Thank you, sir, for all that you do and have done. 24.13.89.33 15:52, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Thank you very much for your kind words. I try hard to remain focus on our shared goals — creating the best and most useful gaming wiki — and I'm glad that such efforts have been noticed. Wikis require a huge effort by a lot of people and, ideally, we should try to accommodate as many folks as we can, even though that's not always possible.
I apologize for the delay in responding (some weeks, I am more of a wiki consumer than a contributor). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 02:27, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
Huh
That post says Taimi was voiced by Debi Derryberry, not Belinda, and none of the other red posts in that thread mention Belinda either. - Felix Omni 06:49, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
- Oh oops. Thanks for double-checking. (Note to self: never confirm citations while tired.) I'll look again and either restore the cite-request or fix it. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:46, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
