Skill icons[edit]
Hi. First, thank you for uploading the new icons at png format. However, I have two things: one) why do all the skill icons have black borders surrounding them, and two) don't redirect icon pages to their respective in-game elements. Thanks, Aqua (T|C) 01:46, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- To answer the first question: Because that's how they look in the data files. A couple of us discussed this over IRC the other day and decided to keep the border. It's actually rather artistic on some icons (like Reaper's Touch). Second question: I'm not sure I get what you're asking here. If you're saying the skill icons should be redirected to their given skill pages, that is correct. I am just uploading them manually now (and redirecting ALL of them would be a major pain in the bum), so I'm gonna give poke a poke later to have him update and redirect them with wikichu. — Rhoot 01:50, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- Actually the consensus is to not redirect them, so that is fine. - Infinite - talk 01:52, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- All the better. :) — Rhoot 01:52, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks again for uploading all of these. I'm also very curious about item icons that you potentially have in your collection. Amongst other things, or course. - Infinite - talk 01:56, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- I've got all of the textures that are available in the current beta lying on my hard drive. Some of them are in an unknown format however, so I can't do much with those, but I'm fairly sure I've got item icons. The problem is none of them have a readable filename, all they have is a file id. Meaning I can match the textures with other images by looking at them, but I can't find them by name, sadly. I'm thinking of making a gallery of unassorted skill icons, item icons and other textures that are handy to have (such as scout icon, etc). — Rhoot 02:00, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- I am in the process of making a semi-major revision to the Materials page and I have found several icons that are missing or incorrect. While I could ask you and others to fetch the needed icons, I'd like to be able to do it myself. The thing I need is the tool to do it. Please. --Max 2 23:45, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- I linked to a zip containing all item icons down below. They are unsorted and unnamed however, and there's a lot of them. And it's from BWE1, but I have yet to find something that didn't have its icon in BWE1. — Rhoot 05:53, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the pointer. I've pulled both archives to my machine. I have also started a series of galleries and uploaded some of the contents of your archive. I've experienced a few brain farts when I try to upload too many files at one setting, so it will be a while before I finish. In some cases, the information has already been uploaded, so I've used the existing files rather than duplicate stuff. Similar procedure for internal duplicates. --Max 2 19:55, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

BWE3 item icons[edit]
{ri}What're the chances you'll have an updated set from BWE3? Wombatt 21:35, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
- Ditto - Finding new icons in the new beta... —Torrenal 00:34, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
- Rhoot's not the only one who can do this: tada! That's all new icons past the previous high file ID of 222039, I didn't bother to check if any of the pre-existing icons changed. I don't have a fancy web page to show them all, so Rhoot can still set that up if you need it/he wants to. —Dr Ishmael 02:12, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, icons changed between BWE2 & 3. Silk and Gossamer scraps got new icons. Looks like the silk scrap was recolored and used for gossamer. Not sure what it was with silk....and small fang got a new icon. Didnt' find the gossamer scrap on file, so... —Torrenal 04:14, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
- Can't find the Molten Sliver icon either... don't think the object is new to BWE3, but I didn't see it in the older icon files either. Can we just get a single file with all the 'current' icons? —Torrenal 04:25, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

Small claw icon[edit]
Hi, I love your penguin. :) Do you happen to have another small claw icon? The .png you uploaded for it was the icon they used before this weekend. The new icon looked like [[Image:Small Claw.jpg]]. Thanks! 20:37, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- Sure. :) — Rhoot 23:14, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- I uploaded the icons zipped to my Google Drive. Get them if you want to find a particular icon, but keep in mind there's over 2000 icons in there. Link. — Rhoot 00:40, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
- Wow, that's alot of icons. Are these all icons that you don't know what they are for or are they just ones you haven't gotten uploaded on the wiki yet? 01:28, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
- They're all the icons in the game files. I've only uploaded 99 of them. — Rhoot 01:32, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

Icons[edit]
Could you please update icons for Stability, Quickness and Stealth? Also, what size will the trait icons be? (Cropped to 88×100 if I understood you correctly, but a confirmation would be great.) Alfa-R 05:13, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
- I thought you were gonna tango-fy them as you have with the other effects? Stability has already been updated however. I'll fix Quickness and Stealth now. And yes, I can't think of another way to upload the trait icons other than cropped, since all of them have so much random stuff around them that's not part of the icon. 88x100 cropped is the plan until someone objects. — Rhoot 05:27, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
- Also, it would seem they intended for effects to use the same type of icons as skills, judging by the icons (Quickness and Stealth). There are a couple of other icons I would have expected to be the right ones, but I looked them up in videos from the BWE and these seem to be it for now. — Rhoot 05:45, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, tangos look great with 2-3 color high contrast pictograms, artistic icon suffer a loss of readability from tangofication due to various glows obscuring the image. So misc effects will remain the same. They are also not so widely used, so that won't be a problem. Alfa-R 16:02, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
Usernames[edit]
Considered requesting user merge? Also, hi, and kudos to you for the uploads and everything else. :p Mediggo 07:44, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
- I never really did that much on the previous account (on this wiki) anyway. Thanks for the pointer though, put up a request just now. — Rhoot 08:30, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
burning and crippled stacks[edit]
I saw that on a couple of the engineer or warrior skills (can't remember which ones right now or which conditions), where a condition that is supposed to stack in duration was listed with a multiple-stacks number in a skill description. I thought it was just a bug so I didn't bother updating the templates for them.
With the "Maximum targets" and similar where it has what looks like a stack number, that came up a lot with en/w skills. I figured that's another bug and the number should instead be after the colon, and that always made sense, so I put it that way on the wiki. —Dr Ishmael 11:29, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
- The problem with the 'Maximum targets' one is that it had both a duration and a stack count. Which one is the actual value for maximum targets? I'm getting rather tempted to quote the skill effects verbatim as well, though. Since we made them look like the in-game ones, they should probably contain the same data in the same format. I proposed this on the template talk page yesterday (at the bottom). — Rhoot 01:54, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
hold up![edit]
On those skills that you're changing, instead of using categorize=y, use historical=y and remove the historical notice. —Dr Ishmael 22:49, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- Ah right, didn't know historical was made a parameter. They already have historical=y though, so I'll probably have to dive into the template again. — Rhoot 22:51, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, I just noticed that. It's how I added the historical parameter to the autocats. I'll go fix that. —Dr Ishmael 22:52, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- Done already. :P — Rhoot 22:52, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- Or it's a nesting issue. Whatever, we got it fixed. Whoo-hoo! —Dr Ishmael 22:53, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- I must say I don't quite get this though. If you look at Category:Skills missing icon, Barbed Signet shows up. But if you look at the article for the skill it doesn't appear to be in that category. Not sure what's going on there. — Rhoot 22:56, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- If it's a cache issue, then why is Toss Elixir S on that list? It's had an icon all along. The same thing goes for Thwack. — Rhoot 00:20, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
UI textures[edit]
do you have some in-game UI textures per chance? Alfa-R 19:38, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
- I do actually, a crap-load of them. Note that sprend deletes files 2 hours after the first person has downloaded them though, so from me posting this you likely have two hours. :P If you're planning on uploading any of them though I'd suggest running them through OptiPNG first. — Rhoot 20:38, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
- It says file has expired. =( Alfa-R 05:19, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
- Figured that would happen. I re-uploaded it to my google drive. I've already ran OptiPNG on all of them as well now, so you shouldn't have to. Let me know when you've downloaded it so I can remove it again (it eats 1.2 GB of my drive storage!) — Rhoot 12:33, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

"I am well aware"[edit]
My explanations of technical features are not always targeted directly at the person I am responding to - I like to explain things like that in order to help other people following the conversation who may not be as technically adept as you and I. —Dr Ishmael 00:02, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
- That sentence probably came out harsher than it was intended. My goal was just to point out that I knew what it was. I had intended to link to the description of the alt attribute on sitepoint, and explain why it was a bad idea but I forgot halfway through the post. :P — Rhoot 00:08, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
- No problem. I've gotten yelled at a lot in the past for doing this, because people thought I was insulting their intelligence or something similarly inane. —Dr Ishmael 00:14, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
skins[edit]
You've been giving people instructions on finding the "move" command based on the Vector skin. The default skin is still Monobook, so it's more likely that new users are still using that skin - and "move" is just one of the page-top tabs there. —Dr Ishmael 16:20, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- Ah right, I was not aware it was still default. And I wasn't aware that the move wasn't 'hidden' in monobook. Good to know, thanks. — Rhoot 16:35, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
Using Non-existant icons[edit]
Is it fine by you if http://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=MediaWiki_talk:Common.css&oldid=269623 was used elsewhere, such as on wikia? --BryghtShadow 14:31, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
- I don't really mind as long as you attribute it sufficiently, but wikia of all places? >.> — Rhoot 09:10, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Overhead icons[edit]
Hi, was wondering if you could also add the Mesmer trainer and Engineer trainer to your User:Rhoot/Overhead icons gallery as well... -- ab.er.rant 14:10, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
- For some reason they were not available in the same location as the others. I think I actually saw in-game that they don't even look the same. I'll see if I can find them though. — Rhoot 23:11, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
- The Mesmer and the Engineer were the last two professions to be added, so they might have planned for all trainers to use that style. But yeah, probably an oversight. — Rhoot 12:45, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
request[edit]
Are you able to find the icons for other things - specifically, the map icon for the guild banker? I am not sure if there are any others missing as well.Surriela 19:00, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
