Welcome to GW2W![edit]
Hi! :)
Welcome to the Guild Wars 2 Wiki! If I can help you with anything, please just let me know.
As an aside, is the above meant to be on your talk page (this) or your user page (found here)? A F K When Needed 22:43, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

- Thanks for the warm welcome, been long overdue putting anything on here and thought it was about time I put something at least for now. I had considered putting the link on the user page but decided to put it here as was something new to me and it gives people something to talk and discuss about. Where are the Gods?[edit]
I can't help but wonder where the gods of Tyria are since the rise of the Dragons. I have not come across any mention of their role with the world that will become GW2.
Was it not the gods themselves that needed the help of us mortal heroes to be able to trap and drive Shiro? Was it not us Mortal Heroes that defeated Abaddon and brought Kormir's own rise to godhood?
Where are the gods now that mankind has need of them? What with the Charr still a scourge upon this land, the Asura bent on world domination, Sylvari coming out of the woodwork and the dragons destroying or corrupting every last bastion of hope —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lady Elyssa (talk • contribs).
- The gods of Tyria took a step away from the world itself, you could say they're handing it over to the races of the world.
- I can't remember where it was stated but the gods are like parents: first they nurture their child (Tyria) and then they'll stop with their influence a bit when it's is strong enough to survive on it's own.
- In short: The gods haven't left Tyria they're just not that active anymore.
- Also Afaik the gods didn't need help with Shiro Tagachi, the envoys did. Neither did they fully need help with Abbadon and kormir, the avatars from the gods(not the gods themselves) did nothing but giving their blessing to Kormir. --The Holy Dragons 16:45, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
GW2 Ponderings[edit]
With 3 level 80 characters now I think I may finally be reaching GW2 burnout. I have walked most of the personal story paths across 3 races and have faced some truly memorable and exciting moments as well as those of annoyance and the depths of despair.
ArenaNet have provided a very rich and vibrant world to explore, yet somehow feels lacklustre and shallow even with the almost bewildering choices and scope the game seems to begin with. The two biggest things for me that stand out particularly for me is to do with the overall immersion and atmosphere.
Let me explain.
Races[edit]
Each of the races begin with their own problems and in fighting which is especially apparent with the Charr and Asura who both excel and shine in their respective areas.
The Humans were said to be struggling for survival and diminishing in numbers compared to the other races but there was little content to really make this apparent.
The Asura were themselves a stroke of pure genius and as a race they have been the most endearing, though I fear that their architecture lacks the same.
The Charr have proven to be a bit of a love/hate thing for me. Their internal struggles and culture were put across nigh on perfect. Their ingenuity with their machinations was a bit hard to swallow at first and their overall ferocity seemed to quickly fade and become watered down and almost pleasant.
The Norn seem to have grown soft since they were driven from their homelands and like the Charr seem to lack in their ferocity. Back in GW1 the Norn would always ask: "Are you hunting something?" and I would have to reply "Yes, Norn". I don't doubt that Norn may have their need for culture as much as any other race but for me the Norn's fighting spirit has been lost or faded with time.
The Sylvari I simply could not get on with as a race so shall simply leave it at that.
Of Events and Dynamics[edit]
Having dynamic events taking place around me in the world proved to be an interesting and mostly fun way to simply jump in and enjoy the game. In reality this could not always be said to be true. Having a civilian come running over crying and pleading for your help worked well in places and at times was welcome, other times they proved annoying and nothing short of irritating as they interrupted my own flow and goals at the time.
For ArenaNet they can't get this one right or wrong either way but it would be good to be able to respond back to those asking for help and for that to have an effect in game. If I find myself being pestered by the same NPC and have no time or inclination to help them at least give me the small pleasure of dismissing them and pointing them in the direction of the nearest cliff or lake.
Having been stereotyped as the typical help everyone kinda hero and being forced to help those I do not wish to also has a negative impact for me. For example, I may have no love for the Krait but I like the Quaggans even less and would happily help the Krait and feed them Quaggans until they are as sick of them as I am.
For events, many of them would cycle through far too quickly and in most areas it is still possible to run 3 or 4 events one after another before resuming the cycle again. This detracts from the overall gameplay for me, yes I want those events and leading from one to another is fine, especially as they often help open up the map or key locations but not at the expense of immersion and some fantasy sense of realism.
Personal Story[edit]
This is a bit of a mixed bag with some delightful characters to play along with and also some shallow, seemingly random or just plain irritating characters included along the way. Aside from some clear duplication of story plots across the races which I can overlook, the instancing and limiting movement in and around the game world is simply not a good thing. Not that I have a problem with instancing itself but limiting it's clearly visible impact upon the game world could have been done considerably better with a more seamless transition being preferred.
Personal Stories also cannot be failed, so there is no recourse for failure, no alternative, no repercussion, no consequences and no impact in my game world. If the hospital burned down because I saved the children at the orphanage should I not have to do more to help those that need treatment? If I had chosen to save the hospital and let the orphanage burn would that not mean more children running rampant on the streets, more crime,, disgruntled citizens, etc, etc
The Orders[edit]
Its good to see there are 3 orders working in their own way for the benefit of Tyria until you have a different character who is a member of each one. That means character number 4 has to duplicate a previous choice, assuming I wanted to join an order at all. What about the Seraph, the Shining Blade, the Asuran Colleges or Charr Legions, could they not be leveraged rather than just left by the wayside and forgotten?
Anyway, that's my thoughts and ponderings for the moment and good to get some of it out and off my chest. Like a great deal of people out there I still remember the day of the GW2 announcement in GW1 and perhaps I have come to expect to much given the long wait or perhaps I simply expect perfection from one of the best games I have had the pleasure to play.
Uploading files at the wrong name[edit]
Not that its a big deal, but if you upload a file under the wrong name again, you can use the "move" tab at the top of the page to move it to the correct name. Psycho Robot (talk) 00:53, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you, hadn't noticed that before and been a while since I did any editing Lady Elyssa (talk) 00:55, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
May I ask your account name?[edit]
Thank you for your recent contributions to the On Wiki of Gold project. For me to be able to properly credit you, I'll need your account name and/or a character name. Could you let me know what it is either here or on the project page? -- Dashface 10:56, 11 August 2018 (UTC)
- Seconds later, I realise that your characters are listed on your user page. So if these names are correct, I'll just use one of those. Sorry for the oversight! -- Dashface 10:58, 11 August 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you very much and the gold was recieved :o) Lady Elyssa (talk) 18:33, 11 August 2018 (UTC)
Unwanted user images[edit]
You can just copy paste the following on to the images of yours that you want to be deleted: {{delete|uploader request|speedy}}. You don't need to create talk pages. Cheers! =) - Doodleplex 21:37, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you Doodleplex, today I have learned something new :o) Lady Elyssa (talk) 21:50, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks Kvothe and that's good to know ;o) Lady Elyssa (talk) 11:36, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
Removed ID[edit]
Just for your info, I commented out the setting of ID on User:Lady Elyssa/Builds/Sandbox4 to prevent having potential problems in SMW queries on other pages. DJemba (talk) 11:03, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for making the correction and seems I was over reaching on that one but learned something new along the way. Lady Elyssa 11:21, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
