I do not believe your userpage is or has been deleted. I suspect that you are under the impression that user and user talk pages are shared between wikis, but they are not. Your GWW userpage and talk page are still there. Aqua (T|C) 05:14, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

Wiki in other languages

Hello wikipeople : ) please excuse my bad English, I'm not exactly an intellectual

I was just reading some stuffs on wikipedia when i sow it, in the left corner there is a list of languages in which the page is available,so I was asking myself if it 's possibile to create the same thing on GW2W. Can someone explain me, How to do it please? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:The Red Maws (talk).

Hello!
That is a very good question; as of right now it is impossible to create wiki articles in any other language but English.
That said, there have been many occasions where contributors would like to tie in other languages on this wiki. Perhaps in the future there will be additional languages on the official wiki, but as of right now it can not be done. Sorry for the inconvenience.
If you have any other questions, or comments, feel free to ask them as well. :)
P.S. Don't forget to sign comments with 4 tildes (~~~~). - Infinite - talk 20:51, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
Note that while we can't and don't have cross-wiki support for other language wikis, they do exist. Aqua (T|C) 00:32, 28 January 2012 (UTC)
That's curious, so I can create a new wiki Starting by 0 but I cannot link equivalete pages? The Red Maws 19:12, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
Correct; those wikis are not linked to the official wiki. Again, sorry for the inconvenience. :\ - Infinite - talk 19:16, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
LoL, I edit because I'm not sure i write it correctly before.
quiet, do not worry : ) , I was just trying to figure out if I could do something good for the comunity : )

The Red Maws 19:22, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

I have another question about other languages wikis that seems to be overlooked so far. The GW1 and english GW2 forum use the same authentification (I didn't have to register on the english GW2 forum, my GW1 forum login&password worked). Why do I need to register on the french GW2 wiki (and probably the other ones)? It would be great to use the same account on every wiki. This is why I wait before registering (thus contributing) to the french GW2 wiki. Agaetis Ros 21:00, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

There isn't a feedback place on this wiki, there is however one on the GW1 wiki. Aside from that, many questions get moved to Frequently Asked Questions. Try there. If a topic is moved, the section will have a link advising people that the topic was moved. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 20:21, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

Revision deletion can be done by an administrator, but it used mainly to remove blatant copyright violations without removing other contributor's attributions. Suggestion for template

I have an idea for adding another template to improve the (Template:Key) by adding another for template for Unicodes. ie Template:Unicode

This would then allow for Keys to have symbools on them, ie. ↵ Enter on Enter and ← Backspace on Backspace.

Just an idea. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Shealladh (talk • contribs) at 16:42, 5 April 2012 (UTC).

Might be useful, it depends on whether there's a need to put in those symbols. It might be better to suggest this in the talk pages of Controls or Template:Key. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 10:18, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

How to help with beta

I'm a new user here (I'm vaguely experienced with wiki-editing but not with GWW or GW2W) and, like many people, have bought a pre-purchase account. I've poked around a bit but I'm still not sure which (if any so far) wiki projects are being focused on for the weekend betas. Creating new pages

Hey,

I'm very new to Wiki and I have never been bothered creating new pages, I would like to give something back to the community and help where I can. However I do have a few question about creating new pages, how do I make tables such as "Contents" and tables often seen to the rigth side with images ? Am I able to use HTML or is there a standard template I should use to create new pages ?

Kind Regards, --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Bullshizle (talk).

Hello. The table you are referring to are called infoboxes. The majority I believe can be located in this category. For instance, if you wish to create an armorsmith, then you'd use the NPC infobox. Happy editing. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 01:20, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
The "Contents" table automatically show up. There's no need to do anything. Each item in the table of contents is a section header, marked by "==". They're referred to as "Headings" in Help:Editing. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 06:49, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Miniature page naming

Since miniature item names are not prefaced by Miniature in the game (e.g. Wolfborn Shaman instead of Miniature Wolfborn Shaman), how should pages for them be named? Wolfborn Shaman (miniature)? Nineaxis 17:55, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

Yes, good plan. :) - Infinite - talk 17:55, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Turns out they're actually prefaced by Mini. Should have double-checked before asking. Nineaxis 18:02, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Then copying them verbatim is the way to go. - Infinite - talk 18:08, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

Infobox support for town clothing

Template:Item infobox doesn't support town clothing as a type or a slot, and Template:Armor infobox doesn't support Town Clothing as a type and requires a defense rating, so there's no way to properly use either for town clothing (see Carnival Ringmaster's Hat). I'd think item infobox should support town clothing since they are treated more closely to items than armor besides the ability to place them in slots on the hero panel, but I didn't want to go messing with the Item infobox template on my own. Nineaxis 16:49, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

Vendor vs. Merchant vs. other

How should each be used? Vendor defines itself as any NPC that provides a service, with Merchant as a subset, Merchant says it's any NPC which items can be bought from. In-game, [merchant] is used to tag specific vendors (who can also have [shopkeeper] among other tags), and [karma] for karma vendors.

I think it's important to distinguish between them (especially what currency they accept), and have that reflected in their categorization (so it's easy to look up specific vendor types) as well as in their infobox (it would be nice to have the infobox state they're a karma vendor, or speed boon NPC instead of just "vendor"). Can we get some rules laid out for this? -- Nineaxis (talk) 22:00, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

I think it would be best to have them all categorized as Vendor but add a service-type to the NPC infobox that would be displayed in parentheses after the service, so Gwenwyn's service would show as Vendor (Karma). -- Nineaxis (talk) 01:56, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
Why not just categorise them as subcategories of Vendors? Given the huge number of vendors, it makes more sense to try to split them further apart. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 19:00, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
That's what I was getting at. All Vendors should be categorized as such, with a sub category based on how they are tagged in-game (Merchant, Shopkeeper, Speed Boons, Karma, etc.). Right now the NPC infobox only supports Service (which would be vendor), and a Service-type should be added so that the infobox can show Service (Type) e.g. Vendor (Karma). That NPC would get categorized as a Vendor and subcategorized as a karma vendor. -- User Nineaxis Icon Mesmer.jpg Nineaxis (talk) 22:47, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

What is the correct way of naming armor piece pages?

I've seen variations of it, when I created pages under the Tailor section, and I copied the way it was used in Weaponsmith, with the name of the item as the page name and (Simple) as an annotation beside the link, but now I'm not sure if I should have also put "Mighty" separately. Example: Mighty Embroidered Coat But then I saw that some pages use the whole name such as Mighty Bronze Dagger (Simple). What is the correct way of creating those pages? Should they be a general, with all the variations of the recipes in the same page or specific for each variation? CranSnap 02:01, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

There's no "correct" way. There's just no "generally accepted way" yet. I would think it's better to start off with multiple pages, each named exactly as shown in the game. When we have more information, we can consider merging them if necessary. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 12:55, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Personal story quest pages

There is a problem with Unknown Parents icon on some pages like Voices From the Past. Also I would like to know where in game I can find part of the text that should go into a quote on the top of sucha page Gorribal 22:32, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Another thing: How bout creating some kind of storyline quest rewards template or something? It looks like every soldier class will get exact same rewards for lvl 3 quest (Welcome Home, The Perils of Friendship, Best Laid Plans, The Tribune's Call, Chain of Command). Probably same goes for all adventurer classes and all caster classes. So some kind of template or box or something that will be spread over all same level quests would be awsome. Gorribal 09:01, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
I have built a very simple template syntax Reward and applied it to those 5 quests. If the community likes it, we can extend it to the full storyline. Any comments/suggestions? Mavrande 09:40, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
Seams to work fine as far as I can see, although I can't remove 'variable experience' part, and I haven't seen exp as reward outside tutorial quest Gorribal 12:20, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Recipe Layout

I have modified Seeker's Shoulders (Master) because placing multiple recipe templates side by side in a table causes the content to flow past the edge of the screen. There is no reason to place these in a table unless you want to force the layout, such as if you want to make sure that certain items are in the same row. I don't see any reason to do this, so why are tables used to encapsulate the recipe templates? 67.87.159.134 08:13, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Combo attributes on "List of ___ skills" pages

I was playing around in my own user page with the tables found in the List of ____ skills page with Combo attributes and I think it would be useful to add this information in a quickly visible area on this listing, similar to skill point costs, recharge, etc - the data is already available in the same way in the combo and combo2 Skill infobox vars. I don't think a new column is necessary given so many skills don't have any attribute, but I thought maybe in the description or another existing column, would be really handy. I was tempted to just add this myself but I assume the format of those pages is very strictly monitored so I'm bringing it up here for discussion first. Thanks for reading. okuRaku | Team Legacy 04:45, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Icon templates

Is there a need for "Template:Item icon", Template:Skill icon, and Template:Trait icon to exist as separate templates when their function is identical? Having a single icon template that could be used to display the icon and name for any item, skill, etc. would be useful. -- User Nineaxis Icon Mesmer.jpg Nineaxis (talk) 19:28, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Skill icon is special because it uses borderless to do a crop-in-place on the skill icons - it assumes a certain amount of "dead space" on all edges of the icon. It looks like Trait icon is also special because it can add a background color that shows through a transparent icon - but I don't think the current in-game trait icons work that way, so maybe that functionality isn't needed anymore. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 19:51, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
Ah, then it makes sense to have those split. Could "Template:mat icon" become Template:item icon for general use with any item though? -- User Nineaxis Icon Mesmer.jpg Nineaxis (talk) 23:02, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Starting Equipment

Is there any interest or place for a list of starting Equipment w/ Stats by Profession? I captured the Starting Equipment for a Human Female for 7 of the 8 Professions (Armor, Weapons, Equipment, and ALL )while doing the research for Biography Question 1 Profession Starting Head Gear / Equipment. If there is an Interest let me know. I'll dump the stuff in my sandbox when i get to it. Rudhraighe 01:38, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

Hmmm... we have two options I think (not mutually exclusive). One, we can put them altogether in pages like Biography or Character creation. We could also put a "starting equipment" note in each of the individual item pages. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 10:26, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
how about i put then together in my sandbox for now and we find a good solution once we see what we are looking at? i do think i'll be a bit creative on the icon naming like "Guardian Starter Boots.png" instead of using the actual names immediately off the bat. we already have a problem with Storm Eye and Storm eye, and that is only going to get worse as we document more and more items, without a "Process"/"Policy" in place to handle it. i'll separate them by Profession and we can either dump them all on one page for Starting Equipment near or around the Character creation page or under each profession's page where i think they will be less useful as the characters age. Personally i prefer they be near where new players can find them. Rudhraighe 13:46, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
I'll come back to this, but first off, Storm Eye and Storm eye is correctly done. The official spelling would be the main page, and the other one is fine as a redirect. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 06:04, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
Since race doesn't matter, I'd put these in the profession pages itself, rather than one single page to hold them all. You'd hardly want to compare starting equipment so it seems appropriate to just add a "Starting items" section under the "Equipment" section of profession pages. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 02:24, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
i do believe race Does matter, none of the charr characters i created had foot gear, so there is more work to be done. Sex however IS irrelevant to starter equipment. so besides a human ranger, we need all 8 professions in both Char, and Norn to complte the research. Rudhraighe 16:21, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Here is a project on Starting Equipment By Race and Profession I still have not had any constructive comments on if it should be a page Rudhraighe 18:06, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Character name structure

Hello, I was wondering if it would be appropriate to list the structure of race names under the article Character creation#Name or to have a separate page (or if there is such a page, to have it linked). I'm woefully ignorant on the matter, but I understand that an Asuran named 'Bob Harris' would be ridiculous (within the lore of the game) just as a human named Blimm would be weird (though I think it important to ensure that the advice on the naming is impartial and does not suggest that oddly named characters are at a disadvantage - the advice should simply be for reference). Alex User AlexEternal Mr Bear.jpgEternal 18:06, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Well, I don't think we can make an official page that tells people how to name their characters with the proper racial structure. I believe that, where necessary, the structure of race names is addressed on the individual pages for each race. However, you can make a page suggesting proper structure of race names on your own wiki page, like I did... Kormon Balser User Kormon Balser Tango-dervish-icon-small.png 21:40, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Like Kormon said, that kind of advice is unfitting for a wiki. The wiki is for documentation on the general requirements of a name like character length etc, and not advice on how certain names sounds good with certain races. But yes, if you want to do something like that on your own user space that is fine. --Lania User Lania Elderfire pinkribbon.jpg21:53, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Whilst I agree it would be inappropriate to "tell people how to name their characters with the proper racial structure", I thought a section for reference might be appropriate as a collected source of appropriate information - but if Userspace is more appropriate then it's not too much of an issue for those who want it (who know where it is). Cheers guys :) Alex User AlexEternal Mr Bear.jpgEternal 23:30, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
I agree with Kormon that it's better to put that info on each race's article. The people who care about names will probably look there anyway, and then browse around the race categories looking for examples/inspiration. The people who don't care aren't going to see it wherever we put it. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 23:49, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

What is the correct destination name for image uploads?

When uploading an image using the Upload file page, what is the correct form for the Destination filename: box? In particular, if it is a file I want to use for my user page. For example, User_Dr_Dread_character_picture.jpg. It is not clear to me whether or not I should add File: to the beginning of the name (Ref. Special:ListFiles). I was tempted to experiment, but asking here seems more neighborly than polluting the file space. Dr Dread 05:09, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Just found Guild_Wars_2_Wiki:Image_formatting after reading the Upload file page for the nth time and searching around some. Looks like I guessed correctly regarding File:, but apparently I don't need _ (underscore) characters between words in the name.

Being the wiki noob I am, I don't feel comfortable editing the Upload file page where it says "(see our image use policy)". I think Guild_Wars_2_Wiki:Image_formatting should be referenced there. Dr Dread 05:38, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Summary content

I want to offer guidance for constructing a page's Summary, first paragraph or so. Where do I do that?llandale 02:32, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

I would find it inconcievable that there is no guidance on how to put together a page. There must be something that says "one or two sentances, then create section level 2 topics on the major points". "Put categories at the bottom" "Put Notes and Trivia, if any, at the bottom". llandale 19:06, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
Afaik, there aren't any established "how a page should be structured" guidelines (someone correct me if I'm wrong) in the GW2 wiki. Template Changes Needed for Adding Major Trait Tiers

Now that traits have tiers, it seems that major traits should have their tier stored (and displayed where relevant) following the same pattern as minor traits. For minor traits, 'type' = 'Adept', 'Master', or 'Grandmaster'. Unfortunately, as of now, multiple templates rely on the assumption that 'type' = 'Major' for all major traits. This is definitely not necessary; whether a trait is major can be determined from category information, but I'm too much of a wiki newb to figure out how to initiate this conversion without breaking everything in the meantime.

Any ideas? Raphaol 02:22, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Linking Recipes

I did a lot of crafting in BWE2, and want to help get the pages linked as much as I can (first time wiki contributor, long-time user). I've come across an issue that I'd like to get resolved, but I don't know where to go to get any input on it. I took screens of all the recipes in my crafting windows, for example, it says Tiger's Eye Amulet (Master), so I've been putting in links to that page. I'm starting to come across some other links that are to the end product, in this case Tiger's Eye Amulet of Precision. Should I be linking to the RECIPE (Tiger's Eye Amulet (Master)) or the RESULT (Tiger's Eye Amulet of Precision)? Wombatt 04:24, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

If there are multiple suffixes of the same name, then they should all be amalgamated into one article, but you wont need to add (master) to the end of it. I'm not sure what to do after that. Maybe find out if there is a fixed set of ingredients that will make the Tiger's Eye Amulet, and then find out what specific ingredient gives "Precision" or whatever other attribute? --Xu Davella 00:13, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
The attribute boost for Tiger's Eye items is always precision, so anything that has Tiger's Eye will (should) be "of Precision". The deciding factor for regular or Master level is whether it's a naked chunk/nugget/etc or an Adorned/Intricate/etc (with a filigree) on it. Wombatt 21:41, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
We're trying to get a grip on the crafting system. There should not be a Tiger's Eye Amulet (Master) object. It's just a Tiger's Eye Amulet at a different level with different properties, but it's still a Tiger's Eye Amulet (though I may still need to fight the point with some other wiki users, the alternative is fundamentally... messy). There should be a Tiger's Eye Amulet (Master) Recipe. The recipe should link the object and its components, but the template ought to (I think?) take care of all that for you. Also, the amulet uses a copper chain, so drop it on the Copper Chain page (err.... that table needs a fix. And an update, but the fix is more important). Drop a line on my talk page if you want to know where we need help getting things sorted for crafting. —Torrenal 06:04, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

References

What are the practices regarding references on GW2 wiki? Specifically, I added a description for the page "Catapult Blueprints" with a reference to a Youtube video where I got the information. Later, I come back and a user had removed the reference. Was he/she right to remove it? Ivarr Ironfist

Hi there. In looking at the Catapult Blueprints page history, I think that all the edits made were done with good reason. :) Your use of references is a good habit—making note of these references while the game is still being updated helps to let other editors know when a piece of information was added and serves as a source of verification if necessary. This is particularly good and needed with information about the game, whether it be trivia or notes or plans—references are crucial. For information from the game, references will eventually and naturally be phased out like it happened with your question: as the game nears a more stable state, the information is treated 'as is' and inherently understood to be a reflection of the game's content—otherwise, we'd have to have a reference for every single thing, and that's a lot!
In recap, in my view, since the community is no longer unsure that Catapult Blueprints exist nor questioning the information as it is in-game, the reference can be removed from floating on the page. Redshift 10:21, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
Short answer: if you got the info from in-game, there's no need for a reference. If the information is speculative or uncertain, then you need a reference to support it. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:44, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

In-game spelling/grammar versus the consistent/correct version

Many times I have run across inconsistent grammar/spelling in-game. What is the correct way to update the wiki if this happens? Should you duplicate the mistake or correct it? Ivarr Ironfist

When quoting the game, you quote the text exactly, then add sic which inserts a [sic]. Basically stating, "That's how they spelled it".
Sometimes, those misspellings are deliberate, as is the case with the quest reward message from Veteran Krug. Off topic, but when signing your comments on talk pages, use 4 tildes: ~~~~, which signs and timestamps your comments. Those timestamps do come in handy at times. Torrenal 05:07, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

Bone, bone, and bone. Oh, and bone

Dunno why, but we have a few types of bone to cope with:

 • The environmental object, which when picked up behaves as a Bundle.
 • The crafting material, as a specific object Bone.
 • The Bone consumable sold by Veteran Krug (which gives the user a Bone when used) -- apololgies, I've not updated his list of gear yet... so much to do, and merchant inventoreis are not at the top).
 • To top it off, I'm looking at needing a page for a generic Bone, for describing the various types of crafting material bone, not unlike what I did for Ingot.

the real conflict comes from my trying to create a Bone (Crafting) to disambiguate from Bone (Generic Crafting), or whatever that'll be called. ('ve already gone to Chain (crafting) for the generic form of crafting chains. I'd hate to have a mix of (Generic Crafting) and (Crafting) for the generic forms, but I think that one is going to be a recurring thing (Venom Sac for one. Vial of Blood for another, possibly Dust...) Any suggestions for naming and referencing the plethora of bone pages? Torrenal 01:05, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Turning an entire cell into a link

Is there a way to turn an entire table cell into a link, as opposed to only the text and image content inside the cell? Erasculio 22:12, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

Character Creation/ Guild Wars 2

Changing User-Name

I am named in the first official Wiki "Naruuu", so i was called here (autoamtically? long time ago^^) Naruuu, too, but i personally prefer Naru like i am called in the german wikis. Cause there was already a Naru in the first Wiki, there is no chance to call me there Naru, but here, after there was no edit from the original Naru and also no edit since 2008 in the first wiki anymore, i hope, you can change my account "User:Naruuu" to "User:Naru". --Naruuu 11:53, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

Unfortunately we do not remove accounts for these type of scenarios. Though I'd argue that you could use Naru as your signature, because our practises in signatures aren't as strict as they are on GWW. - Infinite - talk 11:59, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
unless you own the username, you cannot user it or merge with it. Trust me, I investigated Venom with no successful outcome. Although I will say that if you alter your signature to display your desired name (as Infinite suggested) keep in mind that displaywise you will sign with another name. Thus if Naru returns he/she will visually receive credit for your contributions (at least on talk pages where you sign) Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 12:25, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for the fast answer, feared already so^^. I changed my Signature with a hint like you can see. --Naruuu 14:55, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
Ha! That's pretty clever. :P —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:57, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

Guild wars 2 Roleplay guild Approval?

Hi, I was wondering if it was possible to place my GuildWars 2 Heavy Roleplay guild on the wiki? We are very dedicated and have a rich back story that is intertwined with real GuildWars 2 lore. Our guild site is http://www.templarsofarkayne.tk and we are really excited to hear from you. Thank you.

Fayne , Grand Master of the Templars

Hi Fayne. Guild presence on the Guild Wars 2 Wiki is kept in User space by a representative of the guild (as in this example here). The Wiki currently otherwise by intent does not have a dedicated Guild namespace (with most recent discussion here) and by purpose does not document guilds outside of the scope of notability. I hope this helps to answer your question. Redshift 10:14, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Linking to other GW2W pages

I was wondering if there were any rules about linking to other GW2W pages. For example I edited the Coin page since it was missing info about trait resetting and while I did that I also put more links in there. Since there is first some general text about Coin on the page and then two lists (one about Acquisition, other about Usage) I wasn't sure if the GW2W link to e.g. Vendor should be present in both lists or just the first list it's mentioned in. I put the link in both of them now, because I personally think it looks better, but if that's not how it's supposed to be done the double links should be reverted (not the complete edit I did, since I did a bit more than just add links in my last edit). Sorry for editing it before asking this question, but I just thought of it after I already edited it. 08Ray 22:04, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

The rule of thumb is: if it's already linked, there's no need to link it again. Some people are crazy-strict about this, some people are not. The exception of thumb is: if the reader has to go looking for the original link, then maybe let's help them out by offering another link.
In practice, this means: if you have to page up to find the original link, probably add a new one. So you could have three small tables using only one link to coin, a large paragraph with one link, or even a couple of sections.
The reason for avoiding overlinking is too many underlines makes the page harder to read. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:45, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
The easy rule-of-thumb to remember is: one link per section. There are exceptions, obviously, but if you follow that rule you'll be fine 99% of the time. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 16:54, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
You know, I had that written out originally...and somehow lost it. Ish is correct: it is always good to stick to one link/section; exceptions can always be made later, if needed (and they rarely are). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:06, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Other languages

Good day. On the main page I noticed links to the German and French wiki. Do you plan to translate the wiki to other languages in the future? 95.84.168.61 15:01, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Those are the official wikis for the other supported game languages hosted by ArenaNet (there will be a Spanish one soon). They are not pure translation projects - they each function independently from this wiki. There are wikis for other languages that you can find at List of non-English wikis, but because they are not official, ArenaNet doesn't want us linking to them from the sidebar. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 15:10, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Storyline Tables

How are the storyline tables edited? I could add the names of a few Asura storyline missions, but I have no idea how to alter the table or whatever it is that appears on the bottom of the page. 94.5.51.76 07:48, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

Recipe Page Decision

I am finding that someone has added galleries to a lot of the food recipes, with the pictures only containing information that is already in the article. I am deleting for now, as I feel it adds nothing to the article, but wanted to know whether these should stay in. If so I will get pictures that do not have redded out ingredients (as the person had run out) and items behind the boxes such as scenery. Thanks for any advice. Simooshy 12:55, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

I agree that they are not necessary, and brought it up to the user who added them, who insisted they were useful "for seeing the development history of crafting" or something. I didn't feel it was worth fighting about and didn't want to unilaterally remove them, but now that you've spoken up as well, please, go ahead. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 13:15, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Ending HTML tags showing, even though syntax is correct

Hello, any clue why my and HTML end tags are showing up as if they were content, on my user page? User:Lorazcyk Seems to be a wiki-format related issue, but I can't figure out what, exactly. The tags seem to work as expected otherwise. Thanks Lorazcyk (=`ω´=) purr... 04:59, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

I think this version of MW has a bug in how it handles dt/dd tags. In any case, you really should be using the wiki syntax instead. I updated your mesmer box to show this, and I think I see why you were using the HTML - the border is always gray. That's just because the site CSS doesn't have rules for profession-colored navboxes. I'll add those in a little bit. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 12:56, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Gray or not, now it looks a lot better. And I saw you changed my redundant profession picture div tags, haha... Thanks! :-D Lorazcyk (=`ω´=) purr... 22:22, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Doh, I forgot about that all day. I've added CSS rules for profession-based colors in navboxes now. You should see them on the dl borders now, and if you remove the background color from your headers, you can see them there, too (if you like them). —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 23:00, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Edit

When i edit something on this website can all see that? I want translate something and share with my friends. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Utkuben (talk • contribs) at 16:25, 8 August 2012 (UTC).

Yes, every bit of information you add to the wiki is visible to everyone. Personal things that don't belong on the article pages must be placed on your personal user page or its respective talk page. Edit: Also, please remember to sign your comments using four tildes. — Gnarf ~ El Psy Congroo ~ 16:30, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Guilds Template

Since many people were looking at the set up for guilds in the GW2 betas, has the template to add a persons guild to the wiki be started on or created yet? I, like many others, are already building out features for a guild to have it ready when the game is released. Is any of this built out on the wiki yet? If not, are any current project in the works? -- Magic User Magic Icon.jpg Talk 17:13, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
