Welcome to the Guild Wars 2 Wiki.--♥Icyyy♥ 19:39, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you, although it feels silly writing this on my own page Venom20 15:40, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

@Yarrr 16:05, 13 June 2010 (UTC) - Whoops, it looks like you've got it yourself. On the one I made the 20 redirects to your talk page, which is sort of the norm here.--Corsair
@Yarrr 16:06, 13 June 2010 (UTC)- I"m a fan of experimenting with the code, seeing what works, I usually just preview it all unless I am in the middle to testing and I have to go ;) Right now I'm trying to get the cell padding to work here for the user boxes, seems like it should work, but it isn't, time for more testing Venom20 16:11, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

New Stuff
Just wondering if there is an activity feed on this wiki? I wasn't on the official guild wars wiki, I started on the unofficial one and am used to that one. Does one just go through the "recent changes" link on the left to see the recent activity? Also, shouldn't code be the same across wikis? I've found that code I was using does not appear to function on here, is this normal? Venom20 17:10, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
- Lets see... We have the recent changes, found on the navigation tab on the left. The community portal can also sometimes hold important things. As far as I know, this wiki uses standard wiki formatting tools, like the one wikipedia uses.--Corsair

- 19's not sad!! Shit, I was right where you are when I was that age. A buddy of mine (who yes is 25), has not even kissed a girl yet (or a guy, but I'm not judging). Now that is sad Venom20 22:31, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Dumb Question
Anyone know what the +/- numbers are when you do something? When you are checking the recent changes, one can see that it is as if we are being scored on what we contribute. For instance: Talk:Necromancer; 03:51 . . (+503) . . Venom20 (Talk | contribs) (→New Section). Did I score 503 points? and if so, where can I view my total score. Thanks Venom20 03:56, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
- It's how many characters have been added or removed from the page in that edit. No score boards, sorry. --Odal talk 10:38, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hah!! Actually that makes sense more than a scoreboard, can't believe I didn't think of that. Thanks Venom20 12:20, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
so hot
OMG it is so hot our right now!! Just to put things into perspective, here in Ontario, Canada, it is currently 11:37 PM and it is 37 degrees out right now (that is Celsius, for you imperial people, that would be ~99). For the love of all things holy, it is night, COOL DOWN!! Venom20 03:39, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
Talk:Revival
Please check it before you go on with your redirects :P. --Naoroji 07:51, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know what your point is. I have seen rally spelled as raly, I have seen profession spelled as proffession, I have seen field spelled as feild, vengeance spelled as vengence, I can go on an on. So who decides what is common? should we post links to locations where we find these spelling mistakes? and how many is enough to warrant a redirect? this policy on purposely misspelled words is quite rediculous, but as long as it stands, I will now be making redirects with misspelled words so that people don't have to learn how to spell. Venom20 13:06, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Redirects
I am going to be blunt: Raly was not necessary, it is not a common misspelling. Vengence, Resurrect, and the several other pages you linked to are COMMON...so much that they are used on GWW... Aquadrizzt Main Page Designer 13:39, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- with all due respect, viewing several game forums, raly is a common misspelling of the word and as such, I feel it should stay as long as the others do. Venom20 13:43, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Having noted that you copied my delete tag for Raly, I will point this out again. Ressurection and ressurect are common, they are one possible misspelling that happens to be quite common. Note the lack of the other 479001599 possible incorrect combinations of the letters in resurrection. Raly is not a common misspelling. Aquadrizzt Main Page Designer 13:47, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- I disagree Venom20 13:49, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- About whether "raly" is necessary or about the reason that "ressurect" and "vengence" are up for deletion? Aquadrizzt Main Page Designer 15:13, 9 July 2010 (UTC) 15:12, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- I disagreed with your comment about the commonality of the misspelled word raly. I do think that an article raly may be unnecessary, in the same line of though I think that any misspelled article is unnecessary. But if these articles are to stand, how are we to define what is common and what isn't? Venom20 15:25, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Userpage assistance
I was wondering if someone can explain, or possibly assist me. On my userpage I have 2 show/hides, one for userboxes and one for characters. The box for characters works correctly leaving the show/hide button to the right; however, the userbox button stays immediately beside the word userbox which jumps to the left. Is this something that I am seeing in my browser only? or is there something wrong with my coding. (my money is on the latter)Venom20 14:38, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- seemed that the hide buttons are under one another.
- seemed to work alright to me. Ariyen 02:45, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- but for the userbox, when you click on show it jumps to the left. at least for me it does. I tried it in another browser, so I know it's not a FF thing, hmmmm Venom20 03:28, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- I've just been messing with it, adding div statements, adding |'s, removing things, changing alignments and I can't fix this. I'm going to have to completely redesign it. But it sounds like a tomorrow thing Venom20 03:53, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Copyright images
I would like to upload an image for use in my userpage. But I don't understand copyright enough to go ahead and do it without resulting in it being deleted. The image currently resides on wikipedia with a tag that reads: This image is a work of a United States Department of Energy (or predecessor organization) employee, taken or made during the course of an employee's official duties. As a work of the U.S. federal government, the image is in the public domain. Since it is in the public domain, does that mean it can be used freely? Venom20 12:06, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Fonts
I was wondering if there is a list of available fonts to use on a wiki. I seem to only be able to change the font of words to arial, which I like but I was looking for something different. Just to be certain it isn't me, I've been using the code "font-family:'name'" to select the font. Venom20 12:41, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
- Anyone know of said list? is it just web ready fonts? Venom20 18:13, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
Template:
Hi! I hope this message doesn't annoy you, I just noticed something in RC.
I love your user page. I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but there's no need to have "Template:" in the URL of a page to be able to use it in such a way. For example - if you move the page accordingly, {{/Myself}} would work just as well as {{/Template:Myself}}.
You are, of course, free to use whichever you prefer, and it's likely not worth the editing to change it. Just thought I'd make sure you know. A F K When Needed 17:51, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm, I did not know that. So what you are saying is that I could just create a template and use it without using the words template anywhere? interesting Venom20 23:12, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
- Indeed.
- If it was required, it would need to be at the start. "User:Venom20/Template:Myself" would not work but "Template:User Venom20/Myself" would. But that's beside the point as it's not required, you can get the software to throw in the contents of a page either way. A F K When Needed 11:36, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
Monobook
I was trying to add links to the side of my page, just quick ways to edit my userpage but I think I failed. I added some code to User:Venom20/monobook.js thinking that it was going to add some shortcuts here, but it didn't. Even after bypassing my cache. Anyone know how to actually add links in the toolbox on the left, or even better, does anyone know of a site that can assist with editing monobooks?! Venom20 04:01, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- Now I"m thinking that it's the css that should be alterred, sigh Venom20 14:18, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
- Ehm, no, you have to have .js :). Check out my monobook.js, I've got links in my toolbox. --Naoroji 16:06, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you. I was trying to mimic yours before, but I had an import line before and it wasn't working. I believe that that line was what was screwing my up. But now I've got the links I'd like. Thanks a lot!! Venom20 16:35, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Categories
It isn't necessary to add Category:Elementalist skills, for example, on a page like this - the page is already in Category:Fire attunement skills, which is a subcategory in Category:Elementalist skills. Pages should generally be in the most specific subcategory only. pling 18:04, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- I see, I was always told that ease was what we were going for here. Though, yes it is redundant to list 2 categories, it also provides a separate classification for someone who may be looking for such lists. Though, in the future I will refrain from redundantly categorizing the skills. Thanks for the heads up :) Venom20 18:06, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

I was stalking your page, and I realized, we have almost exactly the same preferences in game.. Ritualists, races, everything.. O.oSpotina Talk 18:56, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- Seriously?!! That's crazy. I love caster classes. But I prefer ones that can deal a decent amount of damage with the ability to support as well if needed. I see from your userboxes on gw1:user:Spotina that you prefer curses. That's awesome, it's my favourite line of skills. We'll have to wait and see what happenes with the classes in GW2. There is speculation that there may be a necro/rit cross. I hope it is true!!! Venom20 19:51, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Linux
I'm sure I could check out a forum for this, but this is just as close with the high level of computer people. I searched for linux commands through google but I was quite unsuccessful at finding what I was looking for. I'm trying to move up one directory. This seams quite simple, but I cannot seem to locate it. Also, I'm not very proficient in the command line. For instance, if I am in '/home/me/whatever', what do I type to get back to '/home/me'. Usually I just pwd and copy the path I want and cd there. If it helps, I have both ubuntu and mandriva that I would like to do this in, if it differs. Venom20 15:12, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
- I'll note, btw, that it's actually incredibly rare for people to just notice random questions on your own talk page. I just happened to be looking at RecentChanges at the right moment. Better resources, if google fails and you don't want to sign up for random forum, is an IRC Linux newbie channel. If I recall correctly, the default Ubuntu IRC client is actually set to join the Ubuntu channel on load, or of course you can google for others more specific to your problem. - Tanetris 17:21, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
To avoid annoying Pling...
I'm bearing in mind the setting when thinking of things here. Now, since we don't know what the arrow is made of (do we?) it's not a huge stretch to imagine it getting set on fire easily. Where as a bone big enough to be significant in this case somehow finding itself balanced on an arrow... would look quite amusing to say the least.
As much as I respect your position I can't see myself agreeing with you here. Hope you don't mind me moving the conversation, you can send it over to my talk if you want. A F K When Needed 22:34, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I was kind of apprehensive about keeping a conversation going elsewhere as well. Hah, I was just imagining an arrow flying by with a pelvis sitting on top of it!!!! Good times.... But when I was thinking about the bone wall's possible effect, I was envisioning small shards being picked up by the arrow's head. Making it more jagged and therefore possibly having an easier time penetrating through fleshy beings. I'm just hoping that there are more creating projectile interactions than just fire and electricity. I'm hoping for some utterly unique events with this neat setup they've got going. Venom20 22:47, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

open question for help
Hello, I'm at a loss as to why a template of mine isn't working. Here we will find the annoying template of which I speak. Here is where it can be seen tested. The template itself appears to be doing all of the hard stuff like pulling the correct colour templates and pulling the correct images that are defined. What I cannot figure out is why the style line keeps showing up. It should be the style of the title. I'm trying to create a new template. I used to use a NavFrame block, but this type of block is unavailable on this wiki. Anyways, my coding levels are very minimum and I was wondering if someone could take a look at it. It should drop down to show some information. In the template, the information being shown is {{{3|}}}. And the Title of the box should be {{User:Venom20/Templates/NavFrame icon|{{{1}}}|{{{2}}}}}}} {{{2|Untitled}}}. Based on the testing in my sandbox, the expandable part is working like it should (ie revealing the detail). Any assistance would be greatly appreciated Venom20 16:00, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- in case anyone is assisting me, :), I solved the problem of the dropping down and removing the style information. But I introduced a new problem. For some strange reason it now appears on a white background instead of the colour specified. Also the border seems to have vanished even though it is still coded.... - Crisis averted. I had an extra ">" from an old div I had. Template works as it should. Now I just have to work on widths. Venom20 19:11, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
They never reached consensus, please don't put them on the skill pages, or in fact, anywhere on the main space. - Infinite - talk 17:43, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- You referring to the axe one? If so, then you probably need to gather more information. Such as weapon templates are different from skill templates. A weapon template was put on the pages prior to a talk ongoing about a different template altogether. Also, I have created many more of the templates in question and have not put any of them into practice. So next time you feel like sharing something that is completely obvious and unnecessary, please keep it to yourself :), thank you. Venom20 17:49, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- Also, congrats on finally figuring out what a consensus is and how one is achieved (or not achieved as the case is) Venom20 17:50, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- I consider that offensive. I'll go produce an NPA policy now. Either way, we all know what consensus is, and we know they were questioned. Your templates were not accepted and in fact contested, so either fix a new consensus OR slap a delete tag on them. Also, don't act superior to me, we're on equal level. - Infinite - talk 17:53, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- Firstly if you are referring to the signet template, that was never created by myself. So please, if you wish to refer to my template, then we are only talking about the axe template that I put into main space. And the discussion on this template has been ongoing for...let me check the clock....excluding a colour comment....14 minutes. Venom20 17:57, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- Just don't upload new templates without an initial consensus into the mainspace, and we're cool. I already made a mention of that on the signet nav talk page. - Infinite - talk 17:58, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- please refer to my first comment in this conversation. Venom20 18:00, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- And who put them there? As far as my history reaches, that was you. So basically; you created the template, then updated the various pages with them and lastly started countering objections. Loophole. - Infinite - talk 18:01, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

(Edit conflict) (Reset indent) I didn't want to have to type all this out, but fine... The axe template was created at 17:49 on August 22. Up until that point it was contested (even by myself) and a compromise of sorts was reached. You didn't reach the conversation until 20:48 of the same day (~3 hours late). A discussion was ongoing about signet nav and the template, only a single mention was made towards a weapon nav. Because I view the 2 navs as separate, one would assume that 2 discussions may be needed. The rest of my weapon navs (located here) did not get completed until 02:00 on August 23. Notice please that they never went into mainspace. They have remained unimplemented for their entire existence since the first test one went live. Since the active conversation was active on the signet nav page, I opted not to put them forward (hense the absurdness of "please don't put them on the skill pages"). Venom20 18:12, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- [[Template:AxeSkillNavBox]] I'm sorry, but that is in mainspace, uploaded by you. RfC before assuming consensus. Also "~3 hours late" Are you mad? If a deletion tag gets 3 days, a consensus indefinitely, you assumed a consensus can be reached in less than THREE HOURS? No, just no. - Infinite - talk 18:18, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- Please read again, and follow my last post more clearly. Also, I don't know what RfC is. If that is a reference to "request for comment" then fine. Look at what is in there. How much of it is actually current? There are links to items that have been archived due to inactive discussions. You'll also notice that I do have something in there waiting for comments, so you can see that I already use it. Also, user:venom20/ is not mainspace. 'They' is a pronoun indicating more than one. And thus the 'they' in the post could not possibly be the axe template. The reference to the three hours late bit was the fact that you were not made aware of any templates until that time. Once I had learned that there was disagreement about them, no future hastiness was made. I fail to see what you are trying to get at. You don't want anything to go live that is contested. Congratulations, this hasn't happened since times and events listed above. So the purpose of telling things that are obviously quite clear without you stating it is what? To attempt to bother me? To attempt to appear superior in the sense that you can police things? To try to gather examples for your determination to force low level policies (ie delete policy). So again, you are relaying information that has already known to have stopped. Why don't you email Commodore International and tell them to stop making Commodore 64's. An extreme analogy, but perhaps a needed one. Venom20 18:34, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- All I am saying is that the very contested nav is indeed in the mainspace. Namely "Template:" as opposed to "User:venom20/Template:", don't go seeking for things that are not there. - Infinite - talk 18:40, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- Excellent advice "don't go seeking for things that are not there". Please follow your advice. Venom20 18:41, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

- Most, not all, of this is uncalled for. How about I remove the AxeSkillNavBox from the skills, move it a subpage of Venom's, and we'll keep all the discussion regarding the SkillNavBoxes on a single page instead of across multiple user talk pages and template talk pages? — Gares 18:50, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Gares, there is no need to move it. I already have one that I have been working on (in personal space). So for lack of a better term, axe it. Venom20 18:57, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- For now, I'm going to take the template off article pages and we'll leave it at that. And of course, as long as there is a discussion going on regarding these NavBoxes, the page will not be deleted. Let's just keep the discussions civil. — Gares 19:10, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
The icons
We have no guarantee that GW icons will be used in GW2...Why are they in the mainspace? (And besides, they are available, Naoroji has the entire set uploaded). Aquadrizzt (talk)(contribs) 21:20, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
- It can be treated as a placeholder if that suits anyone better. The icons are used in many templates on GWW (easy for port over) and some new templates here on GW2W. The same argument can be made with Template:X-color. Also, I'm assuming that people have this large problem with me uploading things to mainspace without checking with the community. This appears to be a popular trend and I don't blame you for jumping on a bandwagon. However, that being said, I don't recall any fuss about this template that was created in May. This template uses this icon that was also uploaded in May. Venom20 22:28, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Maybe this will help
I happen to saw what you wrote on Aquadrizzt's talk page. I wouldn't worry too much about it people not liking you. I'm not going to say I've seen everyone of your posts or every reply to each one, but you have been a solid contributor thus far. I assume the only problem is your ambitiousness regarding certain subjects. You have some good ideas, but not every one of them is going to get accepted. Just keep thinking of ideas that might improve the wiki, never get to the point where you become uncompromising or uncivil, and stay positive. You'll do fine. — Gares 18:09, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
- I do try to remain positive. It gets a heck of alot to get me discouraged :). But aqua's a nice guy, I felt bad about what I said. I try to stay talking about the content. I have always had a way with trying to back up the little guys, especially when I think their cause is valid. Cheers Venom20 18:16, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
- Venom...take it in stride. I know personally (not on the wiki, elsewhere) that sometimes people just don't like certain ideas, regardless of how good they might be. And, by the way, if you hadn't mentioned your post to me, I probably wouldn't have noticed it. Anyway, moral of the story: no harm done, we all have those moments. (And besides, some of your ideas are really good, it would suck to lose you.) Aquadrizzt (talk)(contribs) 18:25, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
- Don't feel discouraged. You should feel welcome, because you are. Some people just like talking in Troll-language :). Even I do it sometimes,... It doesn't mean we dislike you :). --Naoroji 20:22, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

My sincerest apologies
Time-out for me was required, I let various external reasons affect my comments in that nav discussion. I hope on (from my side) civil discussions in the nearby future. I still object to long navs, thus I will take my idea Naut uploaded for me (unintended) and put it into practise on my sandbox. Also; I felt guilty about you feeling unloved. I value you as much as the next user (save the vandals, they're just a whole different league. ;D). :) So yes, I'm really sorry. - Infinite - talk 23:06, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- No problems. Sorry it came to what it came to. I was entirely too ambitious. Though I feel that some new designs and new ideas would really improve this wiki, truth is that people are right. We don't have near enough information to actually make anything half decent. Who knows, perhaps you and I can whip something up in the future that will improve upon navs and lists :P. AHHHHHHHHH (need to rant)
Fucking hell!!! Fix your shit!!! I can't take this site anymore. The pages never load and I'm sick and tired of hitting refresh. Every time I go to load a fucking page it stops and I get nothing. Hit reload 4-5x then I finally get a page. And posting and editing is even less pleasent. "Do I want to resend the data?" NO!!! I don't want to fucking resend the fucking data!! I want to send it once and preview my shit!!!!! Fuck it, I can't work like this. I can't even stalk the pages because THEY WON'T FUCKING LOAD!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK! This is on going. Fucking server move was 11 days ago, find the problems and get this shit fixed. /"end rant (for now)" Venom20 03:20, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

New Pages
Can you please add
==Trivia== *{{GWSN}} to any pages you create that have GW1 skill with the same name plz. You just created several and now someone has to go back and do that to all the pages. Thanks (Usaf1a8xx 16:37, 28 August 2010 (UTC))
- That's not going to help note the skill on gw1. It's also not trivia, but a fact. Ariyen 17:52, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
- As weird as it is to note every single skill (or other article for that matter) as having a link to GWW, people have been using the {{gww}} infobox to document this. Sorry in advance if this makes a case of double handling. :P (Xu Davella 17:55, 28 August 2010 (UTC))

- The discussion at Guild Wars 2 Wiki talk:Requests for comment/GWW Links on Skills went more towards using a trivia note than the {{gww}} template for skill pages. Also, the template name is {{Guild Wars skill}}, not {{GWSN}} (that was its old location). pling 17:13, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Signets
Thanks for the help in trying to implement the new category tree for skills, I was becoming tired of doing it all by myself : ) One thing I have no idea what to do about are the signets. They are not specific to a single profession, and they are the kind of thing that would work better if placed together, but I don't want to create a third "Skills by function" or whatever category just to list things like signets, chain skills and charged skills.
I was thinking about doing the same thing I have done for chain skills so far - split everything in "Warrior signet skills", "Charr signet skills" and etc, each within its own profession or race category, and make a more general Signet category grouping everything. I still have no idea of where to place that Signet category, though. What do you think? Erasculio 00:25, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I had just read that on the other talk page. Before I read it I had done signet skills and put signet skills into utility skills. Breaking it up into profession is tedious, but could end up being better for now. I'm going to change it to match the style of the chain and charged skills. I'm assuming then that "warrior signet skills" -> "warrior skills"? Venom20 00:28, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, at least until we figure out a better way of doing it. Thanks for the help, it's really appreciated (I was kinda expecting the first person to notice what I was doing to revert everything and go to my talk page make a very long rant about how we have to discuss those changes before implementing them, ignoring the discussion at the skill category talk page). Erasculio 00:31, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
- Heh, yeah I was honestly waiting for that as well. I think this method has a natural way of categorizing skills. Of course there are a few bugs (like signets, chains, etc) but it should flow better this way. Venom20 00:35, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
