- Passing by, mentioning the very good change at Achievement! Saw the content before it, didn't change it as I couldn't find the right words to rewrite it with. I guess I should have mentioned it at the talk page but... Thanks, just because it is worth thanking for! Ge4ce 18:55, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the compliment, sometimes it is hard to find the right words in a rewrite, I just find it helpful to open all the old references and then wipe the content, start clean with new and old references.--Corsair

- I'm not entirely certain which one is true, I would get Konig on the horn, he knows his lore. Personally, I would use the one on the Battle of Ascalon City.--Corsair

New sig.[edit]
More or less going to be a database of all the ones I go through, First iteration after original. Main piece is different color, talk page link is now Yarrr.--Corsair@Yarrr 05:34, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
I know more than she does.[edit]
Hi.
I never intended to call into question it being true, however the note you put back in reads terribly, and does not give any information to the reader. To protest I would insert a note about her having large ears (also something every Asura has) however there unfortunately happens to be a picture.
If you insist on keeping the note (It's not important enough to me to start an argument over) could you please at least make it read nicely?
Cheers. A F K When Needed 09:33, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- True, I should have looked at the wording and changed it when I reverted. At the time, I didn't see a reason not to have that little misc piece of information there, and it is an important character flaw that is likely to come into play during the game because of many of the new articles and interviews. It is not a very useful piece of information to someone who knows the races, but a new user or some curiose soul may find it, then it would be relevant. It has since been reworded slightly by an IP that makes it read better.
- I'm not very attached to that particular note, if it were to be deleted in some page overhaul, I wouldn't care a bit. It wasn't clear why you deleted it in the first place, so I just put it back in. If you want to, remove it, I won't revert again.--Corsair
@Yarrr 17:18, 27 May 2010 (UTC)- Im so tempted to add 'zojja also has big ears' to the page right now... --Neil • 17:20, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- As am I.
- I guess I should have provided an edit summary (apologies) however I felt that experienced players would be able to guess what I was up to and... well I figure for the most part only experienced players are here.
- While I'm inclined to contest to some degree the argument about new players, the possibility of it being important in the game (why else would her voice actress come out with such a random duhhh comment?) has given me pause for thought. I guess leave it since we don't know what the future holds and the game (probably) won't be out for ~5 years, anyway. A F K When Needed 17:33, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
- The reason why I would be inclined to keep it, would be the newest addition to guildwars2.com, the bit about personal storylines. In the section about the Iconics/Destinies Edge "Each one has their own opinion on the others, complete with misperceptions, assumptions, harsh truths, and inaccuracies." Granted this is a fairly small piece of information we are talking about, maybe its doubly so for her. Perhaps she insists that she knows the most in ANY field, rather than other Asura who have shown that they can refer to an expert now and again (G.O.L.E.M. and asura storyline in general). Only time will tell.--Corsair
@Yarrr 17:43, 28 May 2010 (UTC) - "the game (probably) won't be out for ~5 years, anyway" I certainly hope not! Lol from the looks of things, and based on the current rate of info release and render quality, I'm thinking the release will be between February 2011 and December 2011 at very least... unless you are following the "hope for the best but expect the worst" sort of mentality, in which case sorry for the misunderstanding. ^^ --Amannelle 17:55, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

The "ogre" image[edit]
Where's the source that's an Ogre? It could easily be a gw1:Giant. -- Konig/talk 04:02, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- Martin says its an ogre, sixth post. I included it in that edit view only text, mostly because I wasn't sure where to put it.--Corsair

Can you move my sig image to File:User EavilSig, because it's one letter away from fitting into my sig. nvm --Eavil5505 07:55, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
"not so recent"[edit]
Matter of view. In view of a normal lifespan - no, not at all. But in view of the history - which is 11,000+ years, yeah, a couple hundred would still count as "recent." Hence why I used the term. -- Konig/talk 09:18, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- It all depends on the scale we are using. I don't consider 220 years ago as recent history, 50-100 maybe, but not over 200. Perhaps we should get some other people to weigh in on this, and get what people consider an event of such magnitude to be recent. 220 years would be 20% of the time scale you have given and 220 years is a long time for a civilization.--Corsair

Revive & Rally[edit]
Once your health drops to zero, you are 'Downed'. If your health drops to zero while 'Downed', you're 'Defeated' (Death like in GW1). If you drop someone's health to zero (So, whether you Down or Defeat someone, doesn't matter), while you're 'Downed' yourself, you 'Rally'. If you 'Rally', you stand back up from 'Downed'-state, with 25% of your health and your original energy. However, if you're in 'Downed'-state and get 'Defeated', you can only be 'Revived' by others (which is like 'Resurrecting').
That's the clearest explanation I could get it xD. --Naoroji 08:54, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- Eh, I still find it a little confusing. I thought about it like this and a half a dozen other ways. I guess I will just have to wait till either next week or GamersCon coverage.--Corsair
@Yarrr 09:20, 10 July 2010 (UTC)- Or basically. When you drop to 0 health, you fall on your arse and end up chucking rocks to kill things (or you can be flashy or creative and chuck spells or other stuffs). This is called Downed State.
- If you kill a thing, you only then find the strength to get back on your feet, albeit not at full health and energy. This is called Rally.
- If enemies PWN you whilst you're sat, you die (defeated state), after which a player needs to res you (like in GW1) or you travel back to a Waypoint (res shrine-like). This is called Revival.
- If you're sat on your arse in downed state for too long, you grow bored of it and die because of it. This is when your downed timer runs out.
- In short, you're at a disadvantage whilst downed, but you can still fight. If your downed timer runs out, you die and you can no longer fight.
- If you still don't get it, I've ran out of ideas. - Infinite - talk 10:06, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- I get the idea of downed, and the skills that come with it. I get the conciseness meter idea, and the waypoint travel, but what I'm not certain of is the EXACT difference between rally and revival. I know that if you kill an enemy while downed, you rally, and another person helping you up from defeated or downed is revival. My problem is what about the skills that do that. IWAY is said to "kills an enemy nearby his fallen allies, his allies will rally" while revival is referenced as "While you are downed or defeated, any other player can come to you and interact with you to bring you back to life. We call this "reviving,"" This leads me to believe revival is ONLY the mechanic where you can bring them back by interaction rather than a skill. And rally can be done by yourself, or by an ally using a rally skill. Thats where I'm at right now, but it doesn't feel right.--Corsair
@Yarrr 19:19, 10 July 2010 (UTC)- But it's correct. Revival can only be done by others, while Rallying can be done by yourself OR an ally. Rallying also, brings you back with just 25% health and the energy you had while Downed. Revival brings you back with 100% health and full energy (supposedly). --Naoroji 19:46, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

gladium summary[edit]
Actually, what Ember says is, and I quote: "My warband is to me what humans consider a family." This doesn't mean that a charr's warband is their family, but that the warbands ties and cares for each other is on par to a human's family. So when I typed it as "they consider to be more important than their family" - this is true, a warband is more important to the charr than the charr's family. -- Konig/talk 23:35, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
- This is probably all splitting hairs, but you can't draw parallels between cultures like that. Think of it like adoption, you don't consider the adopted child's biological parents to be family. The amount of contact between a charr and its parent(s) is minuscule, as soon as they are weaned its off to the fahrar to join a warband.--Corsair
@Yarrr 23:54, 28 July 2010 (UTC)- But I'm not drawing parallels. The in-universe characters - and as such the makers of the lore - are. This is far different than if I were to do it. I'm not saying "in my opinion, a charr's warband is more important than their family" I'm saying what Ember said, and to further what she said: "we may not share blood, for we honor our elders and forebears, but the bonds of battle hold stronger than any family ties". Do you think she's referring to human families in that, when she just compared a warband to a human family? No, she would have to either be contradicting herself in the very same paragraph (page 129, btw) or when she brings up a family again, she means her biological family.
- And, for the record, I would consider the adopted child's biological parents to be family - the adopted child would have two families, the biological family and the one that raised the kid. -- Konig/talk 00:19, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
