User:Lady Elyssa/PvE Gear while Levelling
The aim of this guide is to help players keep their character suitably equipped while levelling. When it comes to choosing the gears stats, for simplicity, these will focus on Power for Direct Damage but that doesn't mean there aren't other options.
Rarity[edit]
The rarity of gear is indicated by the colour of the text and while there are exceptions, the level shown for when they are available is the most common, for example:
- Basic is White is available from level 1.
- Fine is Blue is available from level 1.
- Masterwork is Green is available from level 14.
- Rare is Yellow is available from level 30.
- Exotic is Orange is available from level 62.
Prefix[edit]
Each piece of equipment comes its own set of Attributes that is added to your characters own base Attributes. As we are going to be focusing on Direct Damage we will be looking at items using the Mighty or Strong prefix.
Mighty - available between levels 1 and 20.
- Power (increases direct damage)
Strong - available between levels 20 and 64.
Berserker - available from level 52 for weapons, 60 for armor and trinkets up to level 80.
Character Gear Rewarded by Level[edit]
While the information displayed below might seem to suggest that upgrading a players weapons or armor set frequently, in reality this should be done so in a more reserved manner. If a players damage drops off or they find themselves a lot more squishy then might be the time to consider upgrading their gear. As a rough guide, capable players should be able to handle foes 4-6 levels or higher.

Inventory & Bags[edit]
Bags to increase inventory storage space can acquired through crafting or bought from the trading post with the 9 & 12 slot bags currently being the most cost effective with 15 slot bags proving more than adequate while levelling.
NOTE: F2P accounts are limited to 3 bag slots while a full account has access to 5 bag slots initially.
Inventory & Bags[edit]
All characters start with a 20 slot Starter Backpack equipped in the first bag slot with additional bags found as loot, purchased from vendors, crafted or given as rewards for completing achievements, the personal story and Living World events.
Bags come in different sizes starting at 4 slots and go all the way up to 32 slots. Some bags come with special features that can help with inventory organization.
Note: The 20 Slot Starter Backpack can be replaced by larger bags.
Acquisition[edit]
To craft bags with more than 20 slots I would recommend referring to the Crafting section of the Bag page.
Reaching level 80[edit]
Once you reach level 80 you might want to take a look at either:
- PvE Character Gear for Strike damage for level 80
- PvE Character Gear for Condition damage for level 80
Not your first playthrough[edit]
Bloodbound weapons from the Heart of Thorns expansion.
